This is a poll. Read my post because choosing, please.

I'm interviewing today for these positions and I'm thinking they'll probably both offer the job to me right then and there. That's usually how these places operate.

I just don't know which one to choose! So let me tell you how each one would work.

BK - Easier work, worse enviroment. The people who work at my local one are mostly middle aged, dull and...not that articulate looking. But I know the work would be easier. It's just cashiering and bagging burgers all day.

Local restaurant - Harder work, better enviroment. Most the people are young and it looks like they have a lot of fun. When I was filling out applications they were talking to me and just joking around. Thing is, I'm horribly clumsy. I'm not sure about the whole waitressing part. Now if I get hostess, I think that seals the deal.

So, what would you be willing to give up in a job enviroment? I'm not quite sure yet which restaurant has better pay or would work with my hours better.

(Oh, not to mention if Wal-Mart actually calls me! :faint:)

The local restaurant sounds better.
You should enjoy your job, not be bored. But you do need to find out what pays better, and what works ours are better before you decide.

i would go with cashier..waitresses make really bad salaries, and they have to deal with the a** holes. to me, its not worth it. your entire salary is your tips, and if you mess one thing up, then youre docked a lot. i would hate the pressure

Whatever pays more because honestly that's just the type of person i am.
Of choice i'd take waitressing at the local restaurant. Sounds nicer. Plus I tend to think that anyone working in a fast food restaurant couldn't get the grades, went off at the deep end and/or has no ambition. Then again you're young so i wouldn't think that.

Yeh i'm horrible.

I would say the local restaurant. Like you said, it probably has a much better environment. And for your concern about being clumsy; I'm pretty sure most waitresses start as hostesses. That's what I did when I started out at Applebee's.

See, I put hostess or waitress on the application. So hopefully she'll just start me as a hostess. That definitely seals the deal.

Another thing is, I know some people who work here. One girl I've actually known since 1st grade. And I eat at this restaurant all the time so a lot of the people know my face. I think that's a plus.

Well, I guess I'll just wait and see what I'm offered.

Hmm, I see :\

Hopefully if you do get hired as a waitress, they won't be so hard on you with tons of dishes and drinks.

Restaurant.
Some people are rude and don't tip, but you'll totally appreciate it when they DO tip.
BK, your tips are random change that people didn't want back... sometimes it adds up, sometimes it doesn't.

I'd choose the local restaurant because it'd be better work. I'd hate to work at Burger King or McDonalds. That job is bad! Plus you'd be working with middle-aged people all day and you wouldn't make friends that are you age.

I hope your interview went well!

I love working with people my age, especially people that make me laugh. Even though its hard work, you will probably find youself looking foward to work so you can see your friends.

Well, I'm rebellious. Going against the poll.

Like most of you know the local restaurant told me to come back later because they were too busy. -_-

So I went on the BK and he offered me the job. I'm supposed to go in Sunday to sign the paperwork. Eh. I'm not that excited but I'll get great hours there and pretty good pay. He says he could give me a raise as soon as the first week if he really liked how I worked. He didn't even ask me any questions but talked about himself a lot. Hah.

When I was in there today I saw some young people in there. Eh. It's fastfood and all, not the greatest but I guess it'll work for now.

He said even though I was 16 I could move into lower management positions. That means more moneyyyy. :)

Welllll. I guess it won't be that bad. Whatever. It's money, that's all that counts.

Glad to hear you got a job so whats the full story on Wal-Mart I thought you were going to work there?? I chose waitress but if that doesnt work out i guess fast food would be fine also

Wal-Mart. Hm, where should I start? I'm not sure anyone here wants to hear me gripe more. ;)

I waited for their call after my interview. Never got a call. So I called them a week later and asked if my criminal check and drug test came back okay. She said everything came back fine but she is having trouble signing me up for orientation. Since then I've been ping-ponged between supervisors and told every time they'd call me back. They never call me back.

You have to realize most of these type of places hire the people right on the spot, or in a day or two. None of this confused crap.

So I got tired of playing their games and decided to go out and get another job. I had 2 interviews today, one of them fell through and one went great.

I'm getting a job for the money, mostly. And at BK I'd make more money. So that's all I care about, really. If people want to come in and judge me badly, I'll just smile and go about my business like normal. If they don't see that I'm a strong, intelligent young woman who's trying to save up some money for life, then they don't the pleasure of me caring.

:)

Congrats on getting hired!

And about Wal-mart....they did the same exact thing to me this past summer. I'm still bitter towards them about it haha.
