One of the main reasons I can keep my DH going back to WDW is to go to the AC.

He actually greenlighted this year's trip based on the Knight Kingdom possibly closing down the AC. :rotfl2:

So how likely is it that the AC will close in the near or not so near future?

Any educated guesses?

not likely IMHO

When it comes to Pleasure Island lately, anything can happen. The Orlando Sentinel reported that there are announcements about PI coming in the near future; that was a month ago and we're still waiting.

Well ... one rumor I've heard is that something to the effect that 'groups' cannot schedule new events at P-I past June 1st of 2008. I might have messed up the exact wording.. but the jist of it was that there is some significance attached to the date June 1st ... as relates to the future of P-I.

Not good news for the AC, given it seems to be the go-to place for groups on PI.

On the flip side, AC has been as busy this past year as it has been since 2001, and a couple weeks ago they even re-opened the upstairs bar on the weekends.

I agree with King Bob, tho, anything can happen. When the Beach Club closed, they still had bands booked for months out, and had put up brand-new custom drink menus just weeks earlier. Eventually the whole PI story will make a good business-school case study on how to kill a golden goose.

Sounds to me like you can get a few more trips out of him by saying, "It could happen at any point - we need to go again before it closes!"

All of PI has had rumors about closing down for literally the last 3 years. I have a friend who works in ticketing and he's always telling me the doomsday story about it, yet they just put huge TVs in Motion, a new bar and signs outside mannequin.

As far as the AC, I don't think that particular club would close any sooner than the rest of PI. Basically as the person above said, just go there as much as you can because you never really know

If you need an excuse you can say that an "inside source" (hey, I've been inside WDW before - that's got to count for SOMETHING) said it's happening SOON. Reeally soon. The day after the soonest time you can go, soon. Fortunately plans will change right after you go and the closing date will be pushed back another month and, what do you know, there's time for one more trip.

I'm not certain how many times you can get that line to play, though. :) So maybe just go with above information. :)

Over the past few years there have been various rumors about some other entity (probably a restaurant) wanting the waterfront location occupied by Adventurers' Club. Meanwhile no events in the club rely on a waterfront location so the club could be moved a few hundred feet or so to a different building. This will result in some downtime.

Perhaps today's announcement (see other thread) is the big announcement we've been waiting for. Unfortunately the announcement is rather vague and doesn't answer all the question marks about the future of PI overall.

I still think the Adventurers Club will survive an overhaul. It might be the only one that survives
