I went shopping today. I keep finding dress clothes and nothing casual. I did get a jean skirt that I really like so now I just need to find a casual but cute shirt to go with it. Everything is so long and it doesn't go with short skirts. I tried on the cutest skirt and shirt but it was pretty dressy and I already have enough of that stuff. Don't ask why I tried it on! Anyway, I wanted to catch up a little because if I let it go too long I don't know what's going on. In about ten minutes I have to go and get the kids and take a few of their friends to the park for a play date. I will be back after that but I need to pack for this weekend but I'm sure I'll check in.

Wow just looked at my countdown (on Facebook) and it reads 39 days 17 hours! We're under 40 for our vacation. I'm not sure if I should be excited, scared or sad ....

Excited that it is coming up soon
Scared that it is coming up soon and we've still got lots to do
Sad that it is coming up soon which means it will be gone sooner and nothing else to look forward to ...

We're on a new thread????????????????? Oh well...

Another note from Shirley just in case nobody saw it... for those who are driving to PC...

OK ANOTHER REMINDER FOR THOSE THAT FORGOT OR STILL HAVE A HEAVY FOOT.

AS SOON AS YOU PASS THE CRUISE SHIPS AND START TO COME OVER THE OVERPASS, TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS LIKE RIGHT NOW - there is a patrol car that is going to make sure you go from a higher speed to a MUCH LOWER ONE. Just before you go over that overpass to the other side, the area is being patrol super heavy so if you don't want an invitation to our courts, SLOW DOWN ;-)

ANOTHER ISSUE THAT WILL CAUSE A FINE - DO NOT AND I MEAN DO NOT CARRY ANY GLASS CONTAINERS ON TO THE BEACH - YOU DO AND FOUND, ITS GOING TO COST YA $100.00 RIGHT OFF THE BAT and you could have brought a few gift basket for that amount ;-)

OK thats all the warnings for today
always

Ken are you rebooking onboard?

Not likely. Just not sure when we can take another big vacation. My DD6 is moving up in school and we are hesitant to take her out, Shannon is looking at changing jobs (decreased income) and we are looking at moving to another city (increased cost of living).

So there is gonna be too much going on to even begin to think of another trip right now.

Not sure if you got the information about the Airport Express.

Here is the website: http://graylineanaheim.com/airport_info.cfm

There is a link in the middle of the webpage to a really nice brochure with the bus schedule.

You can book online or call to make a reservation. (If you book online, you can save a couple of bucks.)

Your post reminded me to call them and find out if you need to make a reservation for going to the airport or if we could just show up when the schedule says to.

I just called and we DO need a reservation made at least 24 hours in advance. It can be done by the hotel staff.

are there atm's or a bank of america close to DL?

There is a Bank of America on Katella and State College. It's not walking distance, but just a couple of minute from Katella and Harbor if driving. DL is on Harbor and Katella (well up the street a little) so it's not far. There are ATM's outside DL and also inside DL and CA, but they aren't BofA.

I got 20 of the fuzzy mickey bobble headbands today. So if there are other girls who want one, I'll have some extra.

I actually found a couple that light up very weakly! so I know all they need is batteries. Connie

You have Ruth's Chris in Corona!!!!!

My brother in law and my nephews all live in Canyon Lake and Johnny used to have his business in Corona, but now it's just outside of Lake Elsinore.

Hi all,

My hubby and I are leaving that night, after disembarking, at 11pm to take a red eye back to the east coast. Does anyone have any idea what happens to our bags? Will disney take them to the airport? Also, if anyone else is doing the same, whatare you planning to do that day. I did find that there is a company that will pick up and deliver and store your bags for the day.

Thanks!

John got home from his class early today. He made me some mac and cheese.....yummy and easy on the tummy so we don't have any repeats of yesterday.

All the new clothes I ordered for him came today. So he took his suitcase and put all the clothes that just came into it. Now he said, he has officially started packing for the trip. He needed everything because he gained some weight too since we stopped smoking. So I got him four pants, four shirts, three bathing shorts and four tank tee shirts. It's all packed and ready to go. Now he just has to add some clothes that he already has that still fit him and he's done.

Where do you live outside Phili? I'm up in the Poconos. We're about an hour to an hour and a half away from each other. Who is sailing with you?

It's me, Deb, and my DH, John, sailing. We're flying out of Allentown into Sanford Int'l. then we pick up a car rental and drive to Cocoa Beach for two days before boarding.

What are your plans? Are you flying out of Phili into MCO? When are you leaving? Where are you staying?

We could plan a mini meet if you're interested before we take off. We could meet at King of Prussa somewhere.

Yes, on the Disney ships, "main" dining is early.... most ships have "main" dining later, and there will be little coupons in your stateroom to let you know what times the dinners are at the different dining rooms.

If you don't see it on the site, I'm sure she has it or can get it. You should definitely give her a try. Oh, and DISers get a 10% discount.

Very cool!! Thanks for the tip.

There is a Bank of America on Katella and State College. It's not walking distance, but just a couple of minute from Katella and Harbor if driving. DL is on Harbor and Katella (well up the street a little) so it's not far. There are ATM's outside DL and also inside DL and CA, but they aren't BofA.
the bank inside disney use to be a Bof A way back when!!!

You have Ruth's Chris in Corona!!!!!

My brother in law and my nephews all live in Canyon Lake and Johnny used to have his business in Corona, but now it's just outside of Lake Elsinore.

That is who we are going to visit after the cruise.

I live in Murrieta...not familar with a Ruth Chris in Corona. In San Diego and Irvine, yes; they probably went to one of those!

all right guys - you are making too too hard to keep up with you all! PLEASE STOP TALKING! :lmao: :lmao:

Just Kidding - I checked in last Friday and you were all into part 8 and I missed the tail end of part 7.

Sorry - have had to deal with life - its not cooperating with my DIS time - don't they know that this is how I keep sane? Its all a conspiracy - they want me  - I just know it! ;)

Anyway, just checking in - doing a :drive: by as I have an appt to keep - wish I could miss it but they'd charge $65 if I do - stupid, stupid person (ahem - that would be me :rolleyes1 ) that scheduled these things.

One quick question - is everybody gearing up for their eye exams, doctors visits, shots needed for this trip?

And why do I feel like I'm 10 days late for school? :confused3 Anyone else feel this way?

OK thats all the warnings for today
always

Someone answered and yes, but there is an ATM inside DL, just your normal charge.
Hi,
We do have transportation arranged to the airport. Do you think we can check in as soon as we get there, and then take a cab to disneyland?
Depends on the airport...LAX is not so close to DL, expensive cab ride.

Thanks!

What year was it? You can get the 2000 at Bevmo for like $85.00. I'm sure you paid much more at Ruth Chris especially if it was the grande which is like $400.00 at the stores. I, of course, have never tried that one!

From the last thread, posted by V:

"Holly - I thought Bobby was with Heather already? I am confused? Did he bite the dust?"

V, Heather just told me last night that she never received him, but she does have his passport & stuff, so she told me she'd send me that stuff, but I told her since Jan made the passport and provided the suitcase & stuff, she might like it back. Then I remembered that you mentioned you'd like him to visit. John says he has a stunt double that can become the new Bobby, so maybe he can send him out. The old Bobby died and would not hold enough air to stand up and was quite flat after about 10 minutes. :lmao: Poor Bobby!

What great pictures! I want to plan a surprise cruise now. Looks like it would be so fun to catch someone off guard with a present like that!

A few years ago, we booked the DVC member cruise and didn't tell Patrick. We packed in secret and said we were going out to lunch. We drove and drove and drove. He finally saw the water as we crossed the intercoastal, then he started asking all kinds of questions. Then he saw the WONDER! He said, when do I get to go on a boat ride? We told him today! He was so excited! :joker: Also, his birthday is in October, so it was a great gift!

One quick question - is everybody gearing up for their eye exams, doctors visits, shots needed for this trip?

And why do I feel like I'm 10 days late for school? :confused3 Anyone else feel this way?

Eye exam - done, new glasses ordered, should be ready in one more week
doctor's visits - done, have copies of all prescriptions, and DH med form
shots- tetanus up to date, Hep A and B done.

About the immunizations, DH was in the Marines for 20 years and all his were up to date when he retired. He has gotten a tetanus booster since then.
I'm a nurse and have had the hep A and b as well. Did get the tetanus booster though for the trip.

gosh, I wish I could find more info on this Chico's Paradise in PV, I really want to go there.

It's the restuarant that I told you about. It is off the beaten path and the stream that goes by it you can play in but it is freezing. There is no electricity or gas, so everything is cooked over fires. It is a bit of a walk once you park your car. The food is mostly seafood which is the food of Puerta Vallarta. There are birds along the path from your car to the restuarant. Take bug spray because it is in the jungle! I would do it again. It has been about 6 years since we went.

I'm afraid I've been shopping. Some packing cubes arrived today.

It turns out that eBags has their own brand of cubes, and the price was very reasonable so I bought the set of 3. I also bought some Eagle Creek Folders that were on mark down because they were discontinued colors.

Also, eBags is having a sale, 10% off, even sale items, and free shipping. The promo code is:

Also a bit of unusual news today. I may be in the local Chicago press or something like that because of WW. They are trying to promote men and WW. I had to write up my success store and send before and after pictures to someone in corporate.

Not quite sure how I feel being interviewed or having my "before" picture splashed around.

Regarding the tuxes, Tuxxman is sending me the missing black vests and bow ties via priority mail. I'll be glad when I finally have all the pieces and can at last schlepp everything to the dry cleaners.

So did the old Bobby get mailed away yet or did he die and get thrown away? Is the new Bobby making the rounds yet?

The old Bobby died and had a private funeral. He was unable to continue on anymore. Yup, I did the unpleasant duty of tossing him while Tyler was gone one night. He believes Bobby left us to continue his travels. :thumbsup2 BUT the new Bobby never came out to replace the old one, unfortunately. :sad1:

We will be in Seattle from the 26th April, and I had NOT planned on taking anything for weather like that!!!

Being from sunny Sydney, I have only seen snow twice in my life, when we went on vacation to the snowfields in the south of the country when I was a kid, so I own nothing to pack!!!

Winter clothes aren't out here quite yet (not that we ever get anything in the shops for weather like you are having), only light autumn stuff - looks like I am hitting the shops!!!:scared: :scared:

How is Frank today?

Awesome news!!! I know this will sound silly, but that makes my night!!

Frank is terrible. They say he has Failure to Thrive. He has a fever and his blood pressure is about 70/40. He is throwning up and coming out the other end as well. He has had the hiccups since Monday non-stop. They say he is becoming septic, which I am not to sure I understand. They told me the infection is racing though the blood stream. He is weak and miserable.

Hello Lisa

My name is Leanne, and I have been reading your story with much sympathy.
I don't want to intrude, but I thought I would let you know what I know about 'septic'. This happened to my grandfather years ago, and septic means that the body is not coping with the infection he has, and his organs are going into sort of shock, and toxins are getting into his bloodstream. This, with other factors, can make his blood pressure go down. He is in the best place for this to be fixed up, and since he has been getting treatment for a few days now, he should be getting better soon.

Hope that things improve for you and your family.

Oh Lisa, you're right it doesn't sound too good for Frank right now, but anything can happen.....it might be a miracle, but a miracle could happen. You have to hope for the best and be prepared for the worst and always have faith.

Septic is when the blood is infected, he probably has a low blood count too. My mom had it many, many times over the course of four years from when she first got sick to when we lost her. She had many quarts of many blood transfusions. Hopefully they are doing that for Frank too.

Chin up and don't give up the fight.....be positive for Frank.....and remember that it's in God's hands.

I'm thinking about you every minute of the day and sending lots of hugs and love. I'll be waiting for your updates.

Right before my grandmother passed they had said she was just choosing not to thrive. Very hard to hear but sometimes people get so down they cannot get up again. Only time will tell honestly but I hope for your familys sake that everything works itself out. Bad, bad day here. I really thought 2008 was going to be better but... I got a call from DD this morning that DGD12 was being transported from Salem Kaiser dr office to Dornbecker's Childrens Hospital. She has a very serious case of pneumonia. The Childrens Hospital is attached to the one DD and I work at by a skybridge so an easy walk over when she arrived. Her right lung is completely full and they were talking about putting in a chest tube, but after a second xray thought that might not be necessary. They have her on a couple of IV antibiotics and we are praying for a quick recovery. She is on oxygen, had a reaction to vancomycin and had to be put on benedryl for that. She is quite the trouper. When they were trying to get an IV in at Kaiser to transport they kept sticking her and she finally said "could you just try a different place?" I spent a bit of time with them, then decided I would go back to work for awhile while the docs worked her up and decided what to do. As I was walking back to my office I got a call on my cell from my sis telling me our cousin had commited suicide this morning. :sad2: This was as huge shock, the last person I would expect this from. His dad (my favorite uncle) has lost 2 wives in the past 5 years and now a child. :sad1: How much loss can one person endure? He can use lots of prayers. He is 82 years old and plans to fly back to Delaware for services. So far no one has been able to say they can go with him. I will talk with DrHug when he gets home and see if I can do a couple of days.

Ok, now I am going to try to catch up on this new thread. I will skip the last 10 pages of the old one.

Hi,
We do have transportation arranged to the airport. Do you think we can check in as soon as we get there, and then take a cab to disneyland?

Airlines normally don't allow check-in until 4 hours before your flight - some have an even shorter check-in time frame.

I spent a bit of time with them, then decided I would go back to work for awhile while the docs worked her up and decided what to do.

Thanks for listening to my troubles.:grouphug:

I will send a bunch of virtual hugs your way and I hope that your grand daughter is doing better quickly. :grouphug:

Bad, bad day here. I really though 2008 was going to be better but... One sailed with us in Dec and returned to OR with us. No leaks and he could definately travel back to FL with us.

I do realize for most on this list, this is nothing...but it is almost APRIL and I thought we were done with this. There are accidents galore on the roads right now and we are getting snow (you getting anything Angie?) UGH The PNW doesn't ever really get snow so why now when it is supposed to be spring?:confused3

They tell me we did get some right down to the valley floor here in Newberg today. I was inside all day though so missed it. I heard on the radio on the way home that ODOT will be putting down some deicer tonight though. :sad2: VERY unusual for this time of year here. Must be that global warming thing again. :confused3

:scared1: :scared1: OMGosh!!!

You won't need snow gear in Seattle by April 26. But you do need to bring a jacket. Sweatshirts would be all we would wear, but if you are not used to chilly weather you will probably want a jacket.

I was searching for a few more knit dresses for the cruise (they travel well and expand as you eat your way through the cruise) and I noticed www.coldwatercreek.com has a bunch of good prices on stuff in the outlet section. Also I found a discount code. Coupon Code WXP1482 will take 40% off your order. It works in regular or clearance sections. I found two knit dresses that were $12.99 on sale minus the 40% they became $7.80 each!

Sorry to be so graphic,

Yes, on the Disney ships, "main" dining is early.... most ships have "main" dining later, and there will be little coupons in your stateroom to let you know what times the dinners are at the different dining rooms.

I wonder if we have a problem then. Ours says "main" dining, but we have been told we have late dining. Guess I better get on the phone to DCL. . . . Never mind, I just checked DCL, and it now says second dinner seating, seems right now.

What's wrong with the schools?

Well I think the schools in my town are crappy. very high drop out rates and all the suburban wanna be gangster kids drive me nuts. Even the middle class kids wanna cause problems and try to look like something out of a rap video. :rotfl2: Just very "ghetto" especially considering the area is not bad at all. Don't get me wrong I am young, far from uptight and into the urban scene but when it comes to my kids I am going to try and shelter them and get them the best possible education I can.

My daughter is very quiet usually and more of a follower at this point in life. I do not want her following the wrong crowd in the wrong direction. I can't hold her hand forever but if I can at least have her in a school where 99% do finish school and most go on to college at least if she follows along she can't do too bad I hope. :scared:

As long as you guys keep her company on the cruise and out of my hair; no ones in any trouble!

:rotfl2: and what will you be doing on the cruise all alone then?

:scared:

I hear ya. It is the same all around CA I think.

I feel ya marr..you know my situation..my kid will keep me in debt all the way thru private high school...

YUP I know and agree 100% with you and your plan too. I would rather make a big investment now in my kids then pay the price later in life.

Wow, sounds like our area and my daughter too. I have been ok with the schools through elementary, but our district is falling apart. There is a small private school in the town next to ours that I hope I can get the girls into in 2009. I promised Jaide she could stay at her school through 5th grade so she could finish up there with her friends, but there is no way she'll be going to middle school here....just too much drama, drugs, alcohol and such. She to is a follower....
