September 19th 2007 (Day 7)
Slight change of plan today: Since we'd already done a lot in MGM we decided to go to Magic Kingdom instead since we hadn't been yet (and 7 days into the holiday too, I ought to have my Dis membership revoked!) We left quite late (Steve rebelled against my miltary style planning and HAD A LIE IN, the nerve!!) and planned to have breakfast in the park but Main Street bakery was busy and we didn't fancy wasting valuable morning park hours queuing for food while the rest of the park was dead (it was pouring with rain!) so we headed for the Jungle Cruise instead.

Halloween decs just outside the park
Our skipper was hilarious though i'm not sure where she got 'cheers' as a UK way of saying goodbye from?! Next was Pirates of the Carribean (loving the refurb, wonder why..?!), Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain and Haunted Mansion. The new additions look fab but I won't spoil it for those who haven't been as I know they're still fairly recent. All i'll say is if you liked Haunted Mansion before you'll love it now! By now we were starving as we never did have breakfast so we headed through Fantasyland (leaving these rides for another day) and ate lunch at Cosmic Ray's. I had a cheeseburger and Steve had a veggie burger and we both went mad with the toppings bar! (Steve especially liked the mushrooms, not something you find as a topping very often) For dessert I had a brownie and Steve had a chocolate cake, definitely the best counter service of the trip for both of us! After lunch we went on Space Mountain (clearly we have strong stomachs!), Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor Comedy Club which we both thought was funny and that the poor reviews were a bit unfair, though you do have to like cheesy/corny jokes to appreciate it (a la Muppet-vison!) I got a Minnie plush and Cinderella top and decided to head to Aloha Isle for my much anticipated Dole Whip Float, very nice it was too! Steve got a rice krispie treat:

It was huuge! He ended up saving half of it
The park was getting a tad busy now since it had stopped raining (queues up until that point had been 5-10 minutes, i've never seen it so quiet in MK and wonder if I ever will again!) so we decided to go:

We drove to the Yacht Club since we had an ADR at Yachtsman Steakhouse. For some reason I had it in my head that it was 5pm and was most confused when she said they don't start dinner til 5:15pm (later realised it had been for 6pm, so much for my oh so careful planning!) We were early so after freshening up a bit we wandered round the resort and I got a Tinkerbell top and some pins from the gift shop. They also had a trading board out where you can look for 20 seconds and trade up to 2 pins so I did that and got some cute ones. I have to say I found the resort a bit snooty, the CMs were very pleasant but some of the guests were really looking down their noses at us (since we're both quite heavily tattooed we're used to getting looks sometimes which we ignore but this was different..) It wasn't something we experienced in any of the other deluxe resorts we visited. I'm not sure if the Beach Club is different in that respect but from the outside it had more of a 'casual' feel I thought. Anyway, we were seated for dinner at 5:15pm and our server was Suzan who was very nice and attentive. Steve had the cheese platter and I had the shrimp cocktail for starters. He wasn't keen on some of the cheese so 'I 'helped' and thought they were excellent, especially the gorgonzola with maraschino cherries which went together so well. For mains Steve had the eggplant ravioli and I had the strip steak which was delicious but the gratin it came with was a little bland. We both loved the bread that came with the meal, so yummy! For dessert Steve had the chocolate pudding and I had the blueberry pie. We tipped Suzan extra and both thought it was the best 2 credit meal we'd done so far and we would have gladly paid out of pocket for it. After dinner we walked to Epcot and wandered around the World Showcase but in hindsight this wasn't the best idea as it was crowded, getting dark and the mood was feeling a bit strained as Steve isn't used to doing so much walking especially in the heat and it was starting to get to him.

We found a spot on the UK to France bridge for the fireworks and while they were nice it was a little marred by the mood. I think next time i'd like to do the Illuminations cruise (we really enjoyed the Wishes one which i'll come to in a later report) We headed back to POFQ after the fireworks and decided on another change of plan for tomorrow.
