I have a pool view studio at BWV for 10/17-10/21, just a long weekend so that we can go to the F&W festival for the first time. I didn't make the reservation until long after the 11 month window. Just called last week to get put on the waitlist to change it to a boardwalk view studio as that is what we usually have when we're at BWV. If we get it, great. If not, I won't care for just a short weekend trip.

I was actually going to ask an 'October waitlist' question today. We're currently booked in a Savannah View Stuido at AKV 10/25-29. Because we'll have just been at AKV for 10 days in August we planned to switch to VWL at the 7 month mark for our short F&W trip. I was surprised VWL was booked and we'd have to waitlist. We actually haven't yet b/c we're traveling with other members and didn't want to end up separated if only one waitlist came through. We're fairly new members, however, I am aware that October is busy with F&W and such. But is this typical for VWL? I was under the impression that it would have more impact at BCV and BWV. Any guess on the likelihood we'd both end up getting into VWL if we do decide to waitlist? I suppose it depends on how many currently booked there are trying to get into BCV and BWV and how successful they are, correct? :)

I think it's by default. I booked VWL because BWV/BCV weren't available. If my waitlist becomes available at either, it will free up a room at VWL. I wanted to stay on my points no matter where we ended up. VWL is a perfect place to stay if I can't stay at home. :)

I just went on the wait list today for BWV standard studio for Oct. 9-12. We have an OKW studio booked as a back-up as well as my original 1BR standard at BWV for the same dates. I'm considering a Disney cruise and will need to downsize to the studio if we decide to go. I also have the BWV 1BR standard booked for 5-9 and 12-17. I'll be dropping 5-9 if we do the cruise that week.

FYI - I also just canceled a reservation for BWV 1BR standard from Oct 19-24.

You know, you're so right! We did just that last year but we were staying at WL, not the villas. We bought DVC in Aug. but had already pre-paid for our fall trip so this is the first time I've tried to book on points at 7 mos. Hopefully we'll get lucky and be just a boat ride away again this year!

I called today to double check that I added a request to our stay at VB for this thursday, I didn't but she said too late to change because rooms have already been assigned...ok no problem..

I then asked her to check that they had my waitlist correct for Oct...she says, "yes, I see you are waitlisted for..oh wait..can I put you on hold?" She comes back a few minutes later and says I'm all set our waitlist came through

Huh? Wasn't there this morning...I thought the waitlist was supposed to automaticaly match up the requests..so it doesn't really? :confused3 So what the heck good is a waitlist if I can call and they will give it to me over someone who is waitlisted?

Unfortunately not. Theres still a lot of time to go so hopefully it won't make a difference.

Had to change our trip dates from Nov. 1 to 4 to October 10 to 13 (Columbus Day weekend) because of work issues. Had a reservation for a garden view room at the Polynesian, but nothing available for those reservation points for our new dates other that Coronado Springs. Took it, as we have never stayed there, but I really dislike having to sleep in the same room as my girls, so I am on the waitlist for any 1 or 2 BR at AKV. I know that it is not likely to come through, but thought I would try.

We were planning on visiting 10/11-10/17. Right now we have a studio 10/11 and 10/14-15 at OKW and nothing for the 12th, 13th or 16th. We are waitlisted for those days at OKW in a studio or all of the days at SSR or BW. I'm thinking it's only a slim chance of coming through, but I will book for Feb. if it doesn't work out.

Thought I'd give an update, I checked with MS on 6-25 to make sure my waitlist was still active. It was......and nothing available. We arrive at BCV on 9-25 and due to check out 10-7. I have every day EXCEPT for 10-5!!!

I asked about availability at OKW for 10-5 to make a "backup" - was SHOCKED when MS told me NOTHING is available property wide at any DVC resort for a studio on 10-5-2008. There are 1 bedrooms available, but no studios, not even at SSR.

So.....I went ahead and booked a cash ressie at BCV with DVC discount. Hopefully waitlist will come through. DH will NOT be happy about paying for that one night!!!

I don't think people are being dropped from their waitlist......I was just surprised that our waitlist had not come through yet and called to "doublecheck".

Originally, I called day by day to book our reservations, which begins with ck-in on Sept. 25th. For the night of Oct. 5th, I was booking two studios - instead of booking both at the same time, the CM did one at a time. By the time she got to the 2nd studio, she was shocked and said, "oh my, I can't believe all the studios are gone so fast". I was cringing.....she was very sweet, but not fast on the keyboard. So she waitlisted me for the night of the 5th and I've been on it ever since. I say she was "slow" in booking because the CM the day before had both studios added to my reservations in less than 3 minutes - I kid you not.

As posted previously, I booked a cash ressie, since I don't want to move resorts just for one night, then check back in the next day at BCV for our last night at the WORLD!

I don't think we were dropped early, I just think we were never put on. I was making multiple reservations for family and needed 3 reservations to be waitlisted, the first 2 came through in a couple weeks so I figured the 3rd one had to be "the next on the list", but a month or two went by with nothing. Then I called to add the DDP to a couple of the reservation and just decided to ask if the waitlist came through and they said, they're not on the waitlist.

So my guess is they were confused and just forgot to add her (we do have a backup room as SSR). I should have confirmed immediately but lesson is learned now.

Today I picked up Oct 11 for a preferred studio at the BWV. I picked up one day each on 6/10, 6/20 and now 6/30. Each of these was confirmed when i called to "check" on my wait lists. I'm still wait listed for 10/6, 10/8 and 10/9. Once i get those i'll have October 4-12.

I got mine! In the mail today: on 6/21 I was confirmed for a standard view 1 bedroom at the Boardwalk! It saves me points, but I was hoping for the Boardwalk view! I was booked Preferred/ Garden view for 5 nights -Oct 12-16 did it at seven months and immediately waitlisted both Standard View and Boardwalk View. So i saved 30 points . . . . but I wanted the view of the Boardwalk. Guess I'll go back and waitlist that!

I don't really think it makes a difference if you call or not. But for some people it may make them feel like their doing something about it, and hey, it can't hurt to try everything you can, but IMO i can't see them having the ability to push someone to the top of the list because they keep calling, and it's something I wouldn't want them to have the ability to do.

We actually got a 2BR at OKW and SSR. We have a 2BR at OKW, then SSR, then OKW again. So we are waitlisted for a couple of nights at OKW.

Unfortunately that is correct. You have to be a member to be on the waitlist. As soon as your resale goes through and you are in the system, call to get on the waitlist. SSR and OKW are large resorts so hopefully you'll be something. Good luck!:)

Yes, I did check on that. They had availability, but I didn't want to spend the $. I decided to be cheap this trip!:laughing: All Star Sports AAA rate is $84 for the one night, so that won me over!

Called MS today to check availability for Oct 12th. We are planning on adding a day onto our vacation. Guess what... NO availability anywhere, any size. NADA at all on the 12th. She had no cash rooms available either for that day. So I guess I'll be calling CRO tomorrow to try for a moderate. I didn't bother to WL--we've already got so many going now I didn't want to waste another 30 minutes on the phone so she could set up that one night.

We are WL'd for the night of the 16th for a 2BR anywhere. She had no availability for that night either except for a 1BR at SSR (won't do us any good for 6 people). She did have a 1BR cash night at OKW too. Oh, and she had a cash night for an OKW GV for $1,300! :laughing: Said I'd pass on that but thanks anyway!

If my waitlist comes through at BWV ir BCV for that night, then I'll cancel my VWL reservation, so someone else's waitlist will come through also.

Oct 12 seems like it is going to be a REALLY busy night at WDW.

We called ages ago and only got OKW 13-17. Waitlisted for 2-bedroom OKW for months. Called for cash only room last week, NO cash only rooms.

Called central reservations and asked for any room that could hold 6 people on property. The cast member said NOTHING was available for that date. She might have just been checking for AP discount rooms.

Finally got the All-star Music family suite for rack rate at the regular WDW website.

It seems like most people on here are waiting for Oct 12, even just missing this date during their stay.

I also needed rooms for Oct 18 and 19 and many choices with the AP discount that weekend.

Good luck to anyone hoping for OCT 12. If you don't have a room for this date and need to stay on property, GET IT NOW, as this date may fill every room on property.

We have a Grand Gathering planned (husbands side of the family) with 3 studios booked Oct. 19 - 24 and 1 one-bedroom booked Oct. 19 - 28, the 1-bedroom being ours. My dad recently passed away, so Mom is going to join us. I've waitlisted for a 2-bedroom Oct. 19 - 28. I guess if the waitlist doesn't come through, 4 adults in the 1-bedroom isn't the worst thing that could happen to us - afterall, we will be in Disney!

I should have updated my post here a while ago. I switched my waitlist to BWV 1 BR for Oct. 9 only. I still have the 3-night reservation for OKW studio, and I'll drop the Fri/Sat if I can't find anything else, but would prefer to stay in one place. We have the 1BR standard for BWV from the 10-17th already (booked last year in November).

I was up against a banking deadline in July and had to decide way before I wanted to about my options. :(

Wow! That's really great! It gives me hope because I've had no wait list matches since 7/13. I've got cash reservations for Oct 8 & 9 but it is going to kill be having to pay $625 for two nights. I had a project at work that was suppose to go live Oct 1 but of course that changed to 1/1/09 but when trying to move my vacation back to early October I'm still missing those two days.

I had to call MS to check on my own wait list and asked about 1Br for your dates. At OWK they have the nights of Oct 25, 28 & 29 so doesn't that leave you only needing Oct 26 & 27? You could grab those dates then reduce your wait list at OKW to those two dates. You might want to inquire about the DVC cash discount for those dates while you wait. Just an idea... but as of less than 5 minutes ago those dates were available.

I got on the wait list again after the 30-day mark for a 1BR at BWV for Oct. 9. My reservations are a mess. I have 2 reservations for the same weekend. I'm trying to rent one out on the DVC rent/trade board. Everyone who wants to rent seems to need an additional night or changed reservation. I'm also on a wait list for one potential renter for the 12th in a 1BR at BWV, but if it doesn't come through soon, I'll lose that renter. I don't usually have these issues. :( I really messed myself up this year.

WOOHOO!! Got my sister into SSR studio for our nights! Still waitlisted for OKW, but at least she has a room and is just next door!!! They only had Monday to Saturday, but that is ok because #1-MS said there is a good chance OKW will come through and the 5 nights at SSR is 65 pts where the 6 nights at OKW will only be 61 points (I'll only loose 4 pts) and #2-we arrive on Friday anyway, so when the rest of us move from CSR on Sunday, she will just need to wait until Monday to move. I'm am so relieved!!!

Happy day for me - just 4 days before we leave we got our waitlist for 10/11 in a 1 bedroom standard view! YES! Now we don't have to move and DH won't be without a good place to watch his football game.

Today i picked up October 8 at the BWV - Preferred Studio!! Yeah!!

I'm still wait listed for October 9 but at least now i only have to pay cash for one night!!

More great news!! Today i picked up October 9 at the BWV so finally i have the entire Oct 4-12. When the week started I needed both Oct 8 & 9 but had cash reservations as a backup. Now the entire time is on points!!

not sure if the general success ratio on this thread is a true microcosm:confused3 re DVC waitlists, yet i'd be nice to think the system does work!

Called saturday morning (waitlist had expired less than 7 days out) and was able to get one of my days (Friday October 10th AKV SV Studio). :cool1:

I had called thursday night and the other day I needed (thursday oct 9th) was available but I didn't take it thinking the friday wouldn't come through and I'd have to change hotels twice (something I didn't want to do).

Well, at least I got one, and will keep calling for the other.

I had waitlisted for a studio Boardwalk view for one day on Oct. 16th-17th. I called the day before I left (Oct.11) I was staying at BCV 12th to 16th, and had no luck. But the day we checked in, we got a Boardwalk view studio and it was ready at 11am! Boy were we surprised!
