I am going to be in Disney the first week in Dec. I saw the schedule for Mickey's Merry Christmas party. I am wondering if the parade during the day is the same as the one they have during the special party. I really want to see the Christmas parade but don't want to buy an extra ticket if it's the same. Also I was hoping that possibly the first weekend in Dec. they would be taping the parade for television. I know some say that I wouldn't want to be in the park when that is happening but I would. Do you think that they would tape the TV parade on a day that a Very Merry Christmas party is happening at night.

Hi mmouse529,

I was in the MK the day they taped the Christmas parade in 2004. I just pulled up my planning spreadsheet from that trip (11/30-12/10) and believe the parade was at least partially taped on Friday, December 3, 2004. I also have down that we attended MVMCP that same night so I am going to make the leap and say, yes, they have previously both taped the parade and held MVMCP on the same day.

We didn't stay for the parade as only people with special tickets were allowed to stop along Main Street in marked off areas.

I would highly recommend attending the MVMCP. The parade and fireworks are amazing.

Have a great night!

The regular daytime parade is not the same as the special MVMCP parade. But if they are taping you may be able to see parts of it. But keep in mind that taping takes place over 2 days usually and so you may only see some small parts of the parade in a very chopped up fashion. Or you miss the part where they actually tape the parade part entirely. Most of the taping is just standing around and waiting for things to happen, usually the taping of the special guests. You would have to forego any park touring to really make it worthwhile. You need to decide if that is how you want to "spend" your ticket for that day.

What I have done in the past is bought the MVMCP tickets and used that as my only park ticket for the day. We spend the day relaxing at the pool or shopping in DTD. With the MVMCP ticket they usually start letting you in the park around 4 or 4:30 so you can get in a lot of park touring in that time, and see the special shows and parades.

Most everybody lines up for the parade as soon as they get into the park. If you hit the park first, and then go to the later parade, you get a less crowded experience for everything you want to do. But don't tell anybody else, or it'll stop working:rotfl: .
