This is my first pre trip thread! So here goessss!

ME *Meghan* 18; I've been to Disney twice before, once when I was too little to remember and once in 05 as a school trip for Disney's Magic Music Days with my choir. I'm a crazy planner/budgeter and I cannot WAIT till we leave.

DBF *M* 23; He's never been to Disney, or on a plane. He's not that excited about going, but he's getting better the more I talk to him about it. :goodvibes

BDF's Older Brother *D*; D is a Sargent in the US Army Reserves serving in Iraq. He's been there since May 07 and the reason for our trip is him coming home for good. He's been to Disney a bunch of times, (with and without kids) and he loves the Character Breakfast at Crystal Palace.

DINNER & PLANS-- UPDATED


Most of the trip I’m planning on it being me and DBF. He’s never been and I want to show him everything. I’ve planned two special dinners and two special event for us.

Dinners;
1; May 26th at 5:20pm. Dinner at Tony’s Town Fair. Still going
I read reviews and it doesn’t sound like TTS is awesome, so I’m going to read up some more and possibly change to Liberty Tree Tavern but we’ll see.

2; May 29th at 5:20pm. Dinner at Hollywood & Vine. CHANGE: Now Breakfast at Ohana May 29th at 7:35am



Special Events;
1; May 26th – Pirate & Princess Partypirate:
I read a little bit about the PP&P before but I doubted DBF would want to go. I played with the idea and he finally said yes so I ordered tickets. I booked TTS to have something to eat before the party. 


2; May 29th – Fantasmic!:wizard:
DBF actually came to me and said he wanted to go to this.

So we've changed some things around! I changed some of our ADRs because we changed our mind

We kept the dinner at Tony’s Town Square before the P&PP because its easiest and its right in the park.

I cancelled the Hollywood and Vine package because DBF didnt want to be tied to the first showing of Fantasmic, he'd rather ride rides and then go to the later showing so we're doing that.

INSTEAD of H&V, I booked the Best Friend's breakfast at Ohana for the morning of the 29th. I like the idea of family style and DBF and I are breakfast people. Our ressie is at 7:35, and MK has EHM after so it will be perfect.

Update about D and Iraq; We all were excited when he told us he'd be leaving Iraq April 17th (his son's birthday). The plan was to leave Iraq the 17th to go to Kuwait, then be there for 3-4 days, and from Kuwait fly to Mississippi for a week then head home to MA. Wellllllllllllllllllll We find out there's terrible sand storms in Iraq and they're not leaving for Kuwait till the 29th.

We just want him home as soon as possible :(

How it all began!

In November of last year, DBF's family and I (everyone but DBFs parents) found out D would be coming home from Iraq for Christmas for 2 weeks. Well clearly we were all excited, but we were keeping it a secret from the parents. Sooo once he got home and everyone was surprized, D's DW said " We have something to tell you guys" so we all listened and she told us that "Once D is home for good, we're going to Disney World" I was wicked excited (as was everyone else really except DBF because hes never been so has no idea what its like).

So the morning went on and we were told that D and his family are staying at SoG and everyone else had the option of staying either in the Motor Home with D's parents ( they would be driving down and driving back), or staying at SoG.

Well here's where we ran into some problems;
Our dates for our trip are May 24th-May 31st. That's a Saturday to a Saturday. DBF works full time, and has only been working at this job since Sept of last year so he hasn't accumulated Vacation Time yet. If we drove in the motor home, he would miss 3 extra days of work on top of the 1 week theyre giving him. (very graciously I might add, because he doesnt have vacation time but they realize his brother has been in Iraq so yeah).

And on top of all of that, My highschool graduation ceremony is June 1st. The day after we get back, if we drove, I would miss it.

SOO After all that, DBF and I told everyone, we have to fly because of conflicting schedules, and we'll be staying in the hotel, not the camper. This choice made a few people mad (mostly DBFs younger brother and his girlfriend to be known as "J&A" from now on) because now theyre going to have to pay more for the camper, but coming from them, they have no reason to complain because J works and makes money fine, but A works sometimes and when she found out were going said "oh i dont need to save money ill end up with the money, when i went to CA i saved $1000 real quick"...... uhhhh sorry A, but if youre not planning on saving, dont be pissed when you need to pay more money, im not paying for your vacation, or trying to save you money.

SOOOOOOO after all of THAT DBFs parents say theyre not going, Why? Because they say its alot of money and that since people are staying in the hotel, they were only going for the convience of other people, (cooking meals at the camper, somewhere to stay etc) We tried to explain thats no how it is, but theyre just not going.

So that leads to J&A, and JN, buying flight tickets and staying in the hotel. Since my room and Ds room are already booked, now they have to book more rooms. Enter J&A (mostly A) trying to get DBF and I to share a hotel room with them so they can save money. Well me and DBF said no, we already paid our deposit for OUR room, and at the time I already gave D's DW my half of the room payment, not to mention they stay up till all hours of the night and I would never sleep. So they get mad cuz we wont split a room.


Well they get a room, J&A and DBFs sister JN, but they cant get it the whole time were there. MY room is booked sat-sat, theres is Sun-sat, so we get the pleasure of having to have all 3 of them in our room for one night, on OUR bill, so in essense theyre spending one night for free and they get to pay less for the whole week.

I probably sound like a terrible person, nickel and diming my way to Disney, but I have to, and if you knew J&A, you'd understand. I dont think its fair that they (again its all mostly A) think DBF and I should do certain things to save THEM money. Its MY vacation too, and im not their mother, i shouldnt have to pay for their things, I'm working my tail off to get to disney and its hard, DBF is too, and were just expected to help them, theyre not helping us?


So this post is more of a rant then planning, but hey, Im trying:guilty:

TICKETS!

So we'll be in the world for 8 days but we're only getting 7 day passes (we're leaving really early for the airport the last day, so its a waste) We're opting for the Stars and Stripes pass since were staying at SOG and its the best deal for our money.

I also bought tickets for the P&PP for DBF and I. At first it was going to be just us, but then I talked DBFs older brother and his wife into it(with their kids) and DBFs sister. J&A arent going because clearly they havent saved enough money.

My crazy planning... what have I gotten us Into!?

You know when you have a really good book and you read it so many times its falling apart?

Yesss, I read this book allthe time, I try to get DBF to look at it but he doesn't like reading ( hes crazy I know :sad2: ) but anyway...

In school, I sit and budget and write and re-write tentative plans,but nothing can be solidified because a) were going with so many people b) everyone else going is like " shut up about disney were just going and thats that"... which I cant stand because Im one who needs to have a schedule or ill go crazy (in everything I do) and I like to have tickets in hand,and stuff written down, and everything. Thats why I cant wait till I plan my own WDW vacation because everything will be under my control. I like knowing when things are happening way before they do and being ready. I hate uncertainites in planning and I don't like having to split people up that need to be together. I feel like when things don't go they way they should,it's my fault and I have a panic attack or I get in a bad mood.

I try to explain to DBF whats going to happen (with the airport,the parks, the p&PP etc) but he doesn't listen and it gives me anxiety because he's going to be flipping out confused when things happen that I tried to tell him but when it happens its overwhelming for him.

I wish this vacation was all my planning but it's not, no one wants to hear my tips or tricks...that's why I'm on the DIS...to save my Sanity :headache: :rolleyes: :scared:

I went my first time in 06 with DMIL and DBIL. DBIL was just fine, it was DMIL who ended driving me nuts. No one helped with any planning, and the DMIL complained about a late ADR at Wolfgang Puck's after Cirque Du Soleil. I had mentioned it, and she told me it would be fine. Don't tell me it will be fine and then complain.:furious:

The good thing about staying at WDW, you can always leave them and do your own thing!

Well first off, Dad got his stimulus check and gave me $250 for my trip!! Thanks dad!! :yay: :cheer2: :cool1:


Okay plans...

Here is day 1 (hopefully);

Our flight is at 11:10 out of Logan airport, so were leaving here around 8:30, going to Dunkin Donuts, then head out to get to the airport by 10.

Check in security etc, were planning on eating lunch before we flyat one of the resturants in the airport and then hop on our flight!

Im so excited to see DBF on a plane the first time. I doubt he'll have any problems but I'm just so excited to see him flying, I'm more excited for him for everything then he is haha.

Our flight is (planned) to land around 2:00ish and everyone else should be landing around 2:30. We arranged for a van to come get us at the airport, grocery stop, then on to Shades of Green.

I wannabe checked in and stuff by 4, so DBF and I can run to TL for EMH (and get that bungee photopass card I want so badly!) and then after the EMH, head to the Poly for dinenr at Capt Cook's and head to the beach to show DBF Wishes for the first time:cloud9: I want this dinner/Wishes to be special because its our anniversary celebration (DBF and I have been dating a yr on April 11th so its a tad late but still! :lovestruc )

I wanted to have a dinner at Artist Point or something for dinner,something really nice, but I'm paying for all of it and I can't afford it. :guilty: I feel bad because I want nothing more than to make DBFs trip as perfect as I can.

I've tried to get DBF to look at menu's and he's indifferent about every menu....except ONE that I had himlook at last night and it was the 1900 Park Fair buffet dinner. I listed 3 or 4 things and he's like "LET's GO!" all enthusiastic like and everything I was surprised!

So now I'm confused; do I cancel Tony's Town Square before the P&PP and go to 1900 Park Fair? Or do Inot go to 1900PF and keep all my plans? I would LOVE to go to 1900PF because Drizella and Anastasia are there and they're my favorite! and I think it would be cute to have a picture with Cindy and her PC, and me and my PC :cloud9: :lovestruc

Anyways im getting ahead of myself.

Sunday, all I have planned is Adventures Club in the PM.

Monday is the P&PP, DBF wants to sleepall day to stay up, I want to go to Epcot so I don't know the plan yet but as of right now;
We have a reservation for TTS at 5:20, (or 1900PF so torn!:scared:)

Then only other thing thats cemented right now is Thursday morning DBF are doing the Lilo and Stich character breakfast at 7:35, then am EMH at MK.


Thoughts/suggestions/opinions on 1900PF ? I would love to go but I don't know if I can get it, if people on here think I should try it out, Ill check.

Oh that sucks that its all booked up! Keep checking and go post in the swap thread and maybe someone has one to give up! I just gave someone one of my Le Cellier lunchs. :) You never know what people want to give up!

Either way you'll still have a good time at Tonys. And you don't have to worry about getting back to the MK.

Soooo for my trip, I'm doing a photopass share (first time using the system!) organized by the awesome Msslaydbug :)

I've been reading around and I'm interested in the Grand Floridian photoshoot (for DBF and I, but playing with the idea of havign everyone in it for a cute picture for DBFs parents when we get back)

I've been readingthat they give you a seperate card for your photoshoot that you just add to your account when you're done so I'm thinking I'm going to book it. I'm going to call tomorrow and triple check but if I can get just the card, I'm going to do it:)


FINALLY some pictures of DBF and I that don't suck :rotfl: DBFs best friend and his DGF have HUNDREDS of pictures together and DBF and I probably have at most 30 :rolleyes1 lets fix that! :)

I was trying to talk DBF into the Sci Fi Dine In, or Wispering Canyon, but he just looks at the menu (doesn't read it) and says "whatever you want". Im going to try to push him towards Wispering Canyon, or possibly Boma. He said he wasn't interested in Boma because its all "african inspired". I told him they have other things but he's not interested. I wanna go just to see the animals haha.

This morning I booked the Grand Floridian photo shoot for me and DBF im excited!

I'm debating on getting my park tix before we leave or waiting till I get to SOG. If I wait I'll be saving $23 dollars but im soworried about things and planning that I might just order them ahead just to be like OKAY i have them.

I already paid for my flights, room and tix are next,once tix are set,its just Food, photoshoot and van fromthe airport to pay for!

Should I wait, or get them now?

If I wait, Ill be getting the Stars and Stripes ticket (which i dont fully understand) and if I get them ahead it will be a DISNEY MYW Hopper w/ Water parks &more. I kinda wanna get it ahead so I get another cute card like the ticket for the P&PP,as opposed to the Tyvek paper one.

Im also debating on getting WDW gift cards to pay for dinner. I want to get 1 for TTS, 1 for our OHana breakfast and one for spending money, hmmmmm I wonder if I can pay for the photoshoot with wdw gift cards, that wouldve VERY convienent!

Good news good news!
D's triphome from Iraq was pushed back, but we got an update saying he left for Mississippi yesterday and should be in MA by the end of the week! Finallyyyyy :)

Im really really torn over this whole ticket thing, and to add to it, Prom is May 16th, I dont have a dress or tickets ($150) for DBF and I.

I really wanna go to my senior prom, and then again, I'd like to have my vacation paid for. So I dont know if I should just ask my parents for the prom stuff as disney money, or go to prom, and just get the rest of my disney money somewhere else (currently waiting to fill out paper work for a new job so I havent started yet and I dont know if between now and when i go will be enough for the rest)

my parents really want me to go to prom, and so do i but i just dont know:(

Help me:( do I go to my prom and get the rest for Disney? or do I use the prom money for Disney (the rest of my trip would be paid for if I did)

If there's any way you can get to the prom I would do that. You'll have those memories with your friends for a lifetime. I mean, this is 12 years in the making! If it just won't work then I'd see what post-prom stuff you can do without actually going to the prom. We had a post-prom breakfast at the school that everyone was invited to whether you promed or not.

I'm not sure what the cheaper tickets are either at the SOG. If there is a way to et cheaper tickets I would wait and get them there. I mean that's $20 more you can spend somewhere else. I woudln't waste that just to have the tickets ahead of time. As long as you have the money set aside you should be good.

We had a post-prom breakfast at the school that everyone was invited to whether you promed or not.

I'm not sure what the cheaper tickets are either at the SOG. If there is a way to et cheaper tickets I would wait and get them there. I mean that's $20 more you can spend somewhere else. I woudln't waste that just to have the tickets ahead of time. As long as you have the money set aside you should be good.

There is a way, my parents are kinda pushing me to go but my frugalness is like "All this money for a dress and a dance that could be spent on a character breakfast or matching mouse ears for the DBF and I (him in mouse ears would be adorable :cloud9: ). Im going to look for a cheaper dress and then see if I can find shoes lying around my house (theyre really only for the picture, i usually wear flip flops after or no shoes at all) and I really just want one Big picture of DBF And I (cuz if youve read above we really dont have any lol) so an 8x10 for my house and his house, and wallets for me, him, and our friends.

I think Im going to wait on tickets. Its 23 dollars more to get them ahead but that 23 is almost our GF photoshoot paid off so I think Im going to wait.

I think its very nice! I would go to your prom if you could, I almost didn't want to go to mine but in the end I went and had a wonderful time.

Well the tickets Id be getting if I wait are the Stars and Stripes passes and it already had hopping and the Water parks option (its not seperate like the disney ones its included and it doesnt reduce the price if you get rid of any of the options) so 291 for the S&S pass, or 314 for the Disney MYW Hopper with Water parks are my options.

I think Im going to order that dress today, its cute and if I have something else to dress up for Im set:)

D IS IN THE US! He landed in Mississippi last night! He should be home by the end of the week/early next week!

We're all so excited Ds almost almost home. Which means Disney is almost almost here!

Great pics! I have lots of pictures from the Safari also, actually, we took a lot on the Jungle River Cruise also. DS still thinks some of them are real. He keeps talking about the snake!

Woooo! I haven't updated because I've been in Philly/New Jersey since Friday! The boy and I drove down to Philly Saturday morning earrrrrly, got there around 11:30, he skated at Love Park all day then we went to another skate park in a mall! It was hugeeeeeeeeeeee! After that, we weren't planning on getting a hotel, but we did because we wanted a bed to sleep in not a car haha, and a shower. So after the hotel we woke up, got gas and breakfast and drove to Giants Stadium for this huge concert (kinda like an updated woodstock) and we stayed till about 7:30 (last year when we went we stayed till the end and didn't get home till WICKED late) so we got to my house around 2am. It was a GREAT GREAT GREAT weekend. Im so tired, and SO sore but it was worth it :)

I am officially packed! I have 19 days to go and I packed everything last night except things I'll be wearing/using between now and then! I've had my carry on packed for a little more than 2 weeks :goodvibes. I thought that I would have way to many things packed and I was worried about the baggage limits, but I, the over-over-over-way-over-pack-everything-i-own packer, have fit EVERYTHING (plus more!) into carry on and half a suit case!! My hope is DBF can fit his stuff in the other half and a carry on. If I need to I'm going to bring my camel pack as my 'personal item'. I'll probably just pack that with snacks but still!

D is home! DBF and I left for Philly at 4am on Saturday morning, and D's plane landed around 3:50am so we haven't seen him yet. We got back to MA Monday morning at 2am, so DBF went to work, and I didn't goto school but I slept, and same happened today (but I went to school).

DBF has band practice tonight out by his house so he might see D but I doubt it, so he's been home 4 days and we haven't seen him yet, but hopefully soon! His coming home party is the 17th, but I hope we see him before that! haha I'm really hoping D's wife calls a pre-Disney meeting to talk about where we're meeting at the airport and stuff.

Okayyy! I need some help with touring!

The first day we get there, we should be all checked in by 5ish.

I reallllyy want to run over to TL (it has EMH) and get a photopass card there (it has a bungee keychain) and POSSIBLY (depending on weather) do the shark tank but other then that nothing.

I want DBF to experience Wishes the first night he's there so he can compare it to the P&PP fireworks when we go.

If we do TL, I wanna go to the Poly and grab food at capt cooks and watch Wishes on the beach.


Is it worth it togo to TL? I reallllly want that photopass card (i know im crazy but it seems so convienent and it's cute and small haha)

I think you'd be pushing it. Realistically the bus for TL won't come very often that late in the day. You'd possibly be needing an hour just to get there between driving and waiting. So if you check in at 5ish. Get to room/change/head to bus stop/wait for bus/drive to TL you'd probably be looking at getting there at least after 6pm. Then whatever you want to do there and getting dressed and waiting again for the bus back plan on 1.5 hours. So you'd be getting back to SOG at 7:30 earliest. You'd have to change/get bus to MK/monorail to Poly. At least 1.5 hours for all that.

You wouldn't get to CC till 9ish. It's doable but after travelling all day do you want to do all this rushing around?

Can you go to TL and NOT do any swimming but still get the pass and then from TL go right to the Poly?

That's what I'd do.

Saturday is DBFs brothers coming home party! Were going to sams club early to get food for the party and im shopping for food for Disney for the week! Im so exciteddddd!

I realized I WAYYYY over packed :rolleyes1 so yesterday I sat in the middle on my living room floor and unpacked and repacked and unpacked and packed again and now im down to a reasonable amount of clothes :rotfl:

DBF still has yet to pack :sad2:. But I gave him more room so I can use a whole suitcase for food (if not needed we can add clothes to it obv )

Im starting to go crazy! Im so excited and its so soon! At the suggestion of Msslaydbug im going to try and take pictures of the party Saturday (i have no camera! :() so ill do what i can!

Much Thanks to D for his service - I have a Navy step-son who was on a 6 month deployment at the start of this - had it extended to a little over 9 months. Once he got home it was his "turn" for shore duty so fortunately he hasn't had to go back....yet


And I totally sympathize with your need to plan and the frustration of not having anybody willing to plan with you. We have a trip scheduled for August. It will be me, dH my 3 teen-age boys, one extra teen-age boy and a few days into the trip another couple will be coming down that we will be spending time with. Nobody except me wants to make any plans - and I don't want to presume to make plans for them because it will be the first trip for the extra kid and for the other couple. Besides I am uncomfortable telling people where to go and when to eat. I'm getting fidgety about it, though and really want something that I can write in my notebook!!

Im stressing about packing because DBF hasnt even started yet and he has to be done and set by thursday.

DBFs sisters Fiance got his plane ticket and hes scheduled to leave Logan at 6:30pm! DBFs SIL (the master planner) looked up earleir flights (to fly standby) and theres one that leaves at 9:50a that arrives the same time as ours so that would be PERFECT if he could get on that flight.

Still not definate on A coming or not, as magic 8 ball would say "sources point to no". J has been really bummed about the whole situation and I feel terrible. At D's party, it was DBF&I and DBFs sister&her fiance, then J. He kept initiating conversation with me and I felt so bad because he would usually talk to A. Im worried about whats going to happen for the P&PP. J doesnt have a ticket and everyone else going does. I automatically was like OH ILL BUY IT because thats just how I am, hes been through some tough stuff this week and its in my nature to just fix stuff, but i cant afford it :( i just want to give give give and help help help and when I cant i feel terrible :(

So my friend said she lost the charger to her camera so thats out but good news is Dad got a memory card for Mom's camera so I'm taking that.

Tomorrow is step one! After grad rehersal at school, I'm off to spend the night at DBFs house (tonight is the last night sleeping at homee!!!!) then Friday during the day is laundry for DBF and then spending the night at D&K's house!

ITS SO SOON but really really farrrrr!! I'm STILL messing around with packing. First I had 90% carry on 10% checked bag but now everything is in my carry on, but if I can check everyhting comfortably that would make my day but I cant judge if there will be enough room :( I'd rather fly with just my phone, cash and a snack then a carry on but we'll see!

Im getting so so excited but theres nothing to pass the time then countless hours on the DIS! :rotfl: maybe when mom gets home ill get her camera and snap pictures of my luggage lol

okay weve hit a snag.

DBFs sisters car broke down so now we need to find another way to the airport. My mom said she would drive which would make me most comfortable but she's not so good with travelling around airports.

The other option is Logan Express. Logan Express costs $22 roudn trip per adult, and my mom driving is free haha. I feel like if we take Logan Express, I'm all on my own and I'll have a nervous breakdown where if my mom drives I can relax the way there.

Ours was just okay. I thought it was way too crowded and hot, but we've never gone that late in May before. As I predicted, the kids were too wiped from their day at SeaWorld to really enjoy the P&PP, but we thought the parade and fireworks were great.
