$99 fall rate

I have seen a few mentions of a $99 rate for a fall cruise. How do you get those rates? If it's what I think, it's because you went on a cruise in January, right? Do they offer that every year because that is a major incentive for me to go in January.

You had to travel on a 4-day or 7-day cruise in January in order to get the voucher for the $99 3-day cruise. This was a never-before and probably never-again offer. It was intended to stimulate demand during an exceptionally weak post-9/11 cruise market.

For this promotion, you are actually able to cruise for pretty much what the port and government taxes are. On top of that, if you book it through a Travel Agent, they get their fees from DCL, so it must be close to zero or in the red by then.

I think it's an extraordinary move from DCL to encourage cruising.

My hubby and I sailed in January just so we could get the $99.00 3-day cruise. We sailed in January on the 4-day, and we are booked for October for the 3-day. Both of these cruises were less than half of what we would have paid for one 4-day cruise in June.

Actually, Al, the $99 cruises are non-commissionable to travel agencies. They don't make anything from those. :)

I was just going by what my TA said at the AAA South agency in January.

She said they were also paying her a commission, and she was reading a fax confirmation back from DCL, maybe she read it wrong?
