Hi everyone,

I have a current reservation for september. My TA said that I could "switch" my reservation in the event free dining became available [I know there is a lot of conflicting information on whether this is even possible but I guess I will cross that bridge when I get to it. We are going regardless it would just be nice to get free dining]

My question is for folks with the Disney Visa card that have booked free dining before the general public. My TA is telling me that I would have had to have paid for my deposit with my Disney card in order to be able to book the free dining during this period. [which i didn't because I did not have my card at that time] Does anyone know if this is true? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

In 2006 I did not have my Disney Visa yet. When the code came out I applied it to an existing reservation and was told I needed to pay the balance with my Disney Visa (which I did). Did I get a nice CM doing something she shouldn't have? Perhaps, perhaps not... all your TA can do is try...

OR, the TA can make a brand new ressie with your Visa as the deposit and cancel the old ressie and have that deposit refunded...

Ohh ok. Now did you have to pay the balance in bulk or could you make payments on your Disney Visa until it was paid in full? The reason I ask is because if that situation were to arise i wouldn't have enough room on my card to put the entire vacation but I could totally do it by charging the limit on it, paying it off immideatly and then charging the remainder. I hope that made sense. Thanks for your help though!:goodvibes

I had to pay the deposit ($200) with my Disney Visa, but I did not have to pay the balance with my Disney Visa -- Actually I used my Disney Rewards dollars to pay the balance.

I know of several people who had made a deposit using another card. When the Disney Visa free DDP was offered, they called and just made another $200 deposit on the booking using their Disney Visa, and were able to get the free DDP.

Also with the Disney VISA you get 6 months to pay off the trip, which includes the $200 deposit. We just paid off the $200 this month which was charged back in September, 2007. Just something to think about. Although it would be nice to have the trip paid before leaving in September instead of still paying for it up until March, 2009.

I don't think the big thing is to be able to book a few days ahead with the Rewards card, if free dining is offered you will be able to get the free DDP, but may have to rebook and change resorts. Last year we were signed up at POP and paying for the DDP when free dining was offered we had to rebook and POP had no availability so we booked at ASMU. However we called a few times the few weeks afterwards to see if there was an opening at POP and eventually there was and we were able to switch back and still had Free DDP.

Ok the big thing is if you have reservations now make your ASR's at the 180+10 because once the free dining is offered there will be a mad rush for the best restaurants.

Thank you everybody for shedding some light on this for me! :)

beroh2253- Done and done! That was one of the first things I took care of. When we went on our honeymoon in April and we did not make ADR's until we got to our resort. Thankfully we were able to get into the restaurants we wanted but not at ideal times. Oh well, lesson learned!
