Hi all,
Haven't been on much lately so forgive me if there's already a thread on this, did a search but didn't find one!
Anyway, has anyone else been watching Ashes to Ashes (BBC1 Thurs 9pm), (the sort of follow up to Life on Mars)??
I watched a few LOM but not all of them, however I made a point of watching this one as its set in 1981, and I was 12 in 1981, so all the music reminds me of school disco's!!
Anyone have any ideas/comments on it?
Lynn

I was a big fan of Life on Mars, and didn't think Ashes to Ashes would be anywhere as good, but I have absolutely loved it. I left school in 1981, and the music reminds me of when I first started clubbing
I think last weeks episode was the funniest ever, the way they did the reconstruction on Police 5 and then talking about the boy bands names had me in stitches
Hubby downloaded the Ashes to Ashes soundtrack last week, and it's great (or ace like we said back then :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ). I used to love Heaven 17 and the Clash
It's the last one next week :sad2: but I've heard that they're going to be filming another series
Don't you just love the big hair and blue eyeshadow ? :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

My favourite so far was episode 6 - the gene-genie shooting the plate glass window as vienna plays - classic tv!
Yes, they're supposed to be starting filming in the autumn I think.
And to add to the drama, I've always had a fear of clowns, even before Pennywise from Stephen King's IT!!
Just happened to catch a repeat of Vicar of Dibley from xmas that I had missed, and Keely Hawes (Alex) is Harry's (who marries the vicar) sister with blonde hair!

I'd just left home and was living in the Nurses' home in 1981 and the music takes me back to the weekly 'Social Club' disco ;)
I just love Gene Hunt................... He's so politically incorrect and would get lynched nowadays........:rotfl:
I've worked with male nurses, and doctors, like that, back in the day when they could get away with it.
Saying that some of the docs still think they can............. :rolleyes1

I was 15 back in 1981 ...... and there is no way we would have gone out with our bra straps showing! :scared1: I don't know if that was just a London thing, but where I went out to discos you used to always make sure you didn't show your straps - that was common!
I am enjoying the series, but occasionally I want to slap her (Alex) round the face. I love Gene - the classic bad boy that all the women like. ;)

I agree I use to wear the bat sleeve tops but never ever showed my bra straps. I can remember two of my friends wore blue eye shadow, blue mascara and blue eye liner :scared1: they had blue eyes so they thought it matched where as I have brown eyes so went for the purple look.:rotfl: I've only watched this series but love it but if Life On Mars is on dvd will buy it.

gene hunt is fab:woohoo:
I love the soundtrack. brilliant stuff. this is what the beeb does really well. I really hate the piorot clown and did at the time. Perms were all the rage and I had one just like Alex's and used an 'afro' comb :rotfl:

:headache: My daughter came in about 10 minutes before the end, crying about something that was on her mind (some silly row in school) but I had to switch off and comfort her. I'll have to watch on BBCi.

That was so good! Lots things resolved but many more to be answered!!
It'll be a long year waiting for the next series, and I don't want to wish the time away coz I'm 40 in 2009!!!!!
