We are staying (in less than 4 weeks:cool1: )at VWL and AKV. For the first time in a while we are renting a car. Do I remember correctly that DVC Members get free valet parking at these resorts?

Yes, that's correct. Have your blue member card just in case. When I've stayed at BWV, they never made me show it, they just went by the member notation on the parking pass.

And at AKV, they actually asked to see my blue member card when we arrived there last time we went.

Note "free" does not mean you should not tip.
