:confused3 Hi,

Does anybody know if the Americans are using chip and pin for credit/debit card payments.

Credit card if over $25 is a digital signature alot of the time, under $25 no signature is required in alot of places, only ever done chip & pin for a debit card.

you sign on a lcd pad which then stores your sig.the more times you sign the more it can recognise speed,and and pressure
first came accross a few years ago.

I'm guessing it is when you sign on a palm pilot type machine. Like when you get a package from FedEx for UPS.

I found those digital signature machines quite hard to write on and my signature never looks anything like the one on my card :)

Although in theory they are getting more into chip and pin their systems don't tend to recognise non-american cards. My citibank debit card always has to be put through as a credit card as the chip and pin won't work - all the shops seem to know this.
