Welcome to the new "WDW Pre-trip Report Community Board Chit/Chat Thread."

As moderator's, we feel our board needs to get back to it's original intentions of being about pre-trip planning and actual Trip Reports to WDW. This is a guideline- #6:

6. STAYING ON TOPIC: Each of the DIS boards focuses on a specific topic. Please look the choices over before posting on the wrong board. For instance, you don't want to ask about park hours on the Restaurants Board or tell everyone about your stay at the Caribbean Beach Resort on the Disney Cruise Line Board. It makes it easier for everyone to find what they're looking for when the boards stay on topic.

If guidelines are not followed, and if :offtopic: conversations or chit/chatting conversations start in a report, we will merge it to this thread and inform the poster too. It will be a process that will take some understanding on everyone's part.

If we still do not receive cooperation, then us as moderator's, will inform the OP the thread will either be locked or moved to the Community board.

When this thread reaches 250 pages, we will lock it and move it to the completed board and open a new one.

We're doing to DW in August for 5 days. 4 adults, 2 kids, 2 infants. Any idea of what to expect as far as plane tickets? There is NO WAY I'm paying over $250 each! DH says he'd rather drive from Chicago than pay that kind of money. Any airline/time to buy suggestions?

What are the dates you are looking at? Are the infants going to need seats or are you carrying them on your laps? Even still, having researched this to death it seems, the absolute cheapest I have found from Chicago to Orlando recently is around $200 round trip/person.

That's what I've found too. I've also been looking at buying separate one-way tickets since that sometimes gets better prices. The babies would be on our laps, so we're hoping for direct flights. We're looking to go in mid-August so I know we have time, but if I can find the deal of the century now, that would take one thing off my to-do list!

While I have not done this, we were thinking about it, and called our resort (CBR) and they said you can do it, but it must arrive like the day before you get there. (although I don't think they would throw it away if it got there earlier then that!):confused3 :rotfl:
So I would recommend calling the resort you are going to. But it would be nice to hear about anyone else who actually did it and how that went!

I've heard of ppl doing this, but using UPS rather than the post office b/c UPS tends to be more predictable with delievery times. Just call the resort and let them know to expect it, that way if it comes 2 days early rather than 1 day early they have a note about it and hopefully won't throw it out! Also, make sure they know there are no perishables in there - that might be a concern of theirs too.

Hi everyone. We are headed to GKTW on May 5- May 11th. We are very excited! Ok my youngest daughter Elise, 4 yrs, got her wish granted by MAW. My kids and I live with my parents plus my 12 yr old nephew. MAW is paying for me and my 3 kids, and since i'm a single mother they are also paying for my mother to go too. I have been looking for a vacation package that is the same that GKTW gives that is affordable for my dad and nephew so that they can enjoy everything that we get to. So i haven't any luck. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks

I know we have a codes board on the Resort threads.
The only thing you really can save on is a room.
Otherwise go to WaltDisneyWorlds web site and look at the specials.
Have fun on your trip.

how much spending money does a typical family of 2 adults and 2 children need. we already have the dining plan, so food is covered.

You need to pay out of pocket for tips with the Dining Plan and anything extra you order off the menu.

If you want souveneers, I would say $250 on the low end, and $500 on the high end.
