Okay, i admit it I was banned :((. I'm SO mad! It's for 10 YEARS :furious:! how can they ban a person for 10 YEARS?! I just don't understand! All i did was tick this kid off bc i wouldn't trade with him, and he reported me for telling him my email address. (my friend told me all of this bc she was there at his house) and now im banned until March 7th, 2016!!!!!!!!!!! this TOTALLY sucks. I had a full blue dress, crown, cowboy hat and pants, 20,000 credits, 5 star fireworks and ghost magic, 150 really awesome friends. 2 bird hats, VMK_Flamingo, and HOST_Phinny as my friends. and TONS more! And boom, banned for 10 years. I made a new file and now i have, 11,000 credits, gold teleporters, 7 rooms, 150 friends, full cowboy suit, 5 star fireworks magic and 2 star ghost magic. ANd lots more. but im still really mad :furious:

No it cant, I'm sorry. The tickerfactory thing just counts down the days until I go to disneyworld. But you can click the contact us button on vmk and plead your case.

Were you a CL? If you were, that is the only way you can have staff as friends. If you weren't, it makes it hard to believe. And you schould know that no personal info is allowed, they give out little pop-ups occasionally and even post it on their homepage. In that case, you danced around the dictionary.
Hope you learned your lesson(s) as well as others.

i know there is a thread for getting banned and stuff but i have just gotten baneed for two hours because i was going to trade a room code through mice chat.... the window that has popped up says banned from vmk for 2 hours....now does that mean that your internet connection is banned for that long also? another question how is trading through dis giving out personal information... i love vmk to death but sometimes i think the rules go a bit over board....i understand with scarey preditors trying to go after children and what-not but dis is moderated also... idk.. just figured i should post something..if anyone is my friend on vmk plz realize i won't be on until 11 when my two hour ban is up thanx... alsofor anyone i have to trade with take note..i wont be on until later thanx and happy dissing

Add another very sorry ban to the list. Its my own fault but it was so inadvertent. Im at work and my 9 year old DD gets on at home. So I get on for a few minutes to chat with her....and she very innocently asked to talk with me on IM and yep...gave out her IM name. She was in one of my rooms. But still I understand its against the rules...but it really was an accident. Now we both are banned and our IP's are banned for 1 month. I tried emailing them to explain and ask them if they could just let her back on....that it was my mistake for not explaining that IM would be considered personal information. But no response. with one small accidental comment it wiped out all of our computer access for the entire family...and even my work access....very sad :(

When VMK bans someone, they don't always ban at the exact time a
person goes against VMK Values. Sometimes the staff need to view a
log of all the text and discover that a person did break the rules, and it
could be an hour or a day later.

So just because your brother was doing nothing wrong when the ban
happened doesn't mean that he wasn't doing anything wrong a day earlier.

I hope that makes you understand that staff has a LOT of chat to monitor
to make sure kids are safe. And bans often occur much later than the
actual time it occurred.

They had a reason to ban you, sorry to say it. But it is not right to give out even your email or aim address. Because you can tell personal information with no limitations. They were just keeping you safe, sorry for that ban though. You are very lucky to have got back on. That is why I only trade for codes through dis or micechat. ;)

Or for that matter what value there is in giving a girl who is trying to get herself into trouble a ten year ban, so she has to go to chat sites like my space. Personally when I ran my chat site we would ban the person until they spent 24 hours in the value room. the room had all the good values and rules written on the walls. I just feel you never can teach a person good values by treating then unfairly. Its better to promise them the reward of getting back on the site, in exchange for them learning the values.

Omg I totally know how you feel. I got IP banned for 10 years too, but my dad found this anonymizer thing. If you download it, what it does is changes your IP adress when you activate it, so VMK doesnt know its you. But when I tried to go on vmk, it said: "Problem. Please check ur firewall/internet security settings." My dad tried everything but still didnt work. Its a 7-day free trial I think, and then after that you need to buy it. I can send the website to you if you want. Just reply back. Even thought VMK hasn't un IP-banned me yet, ( which is my dream ) I hope it will work for you! ANyone who is willing to try this I will be glad to help you as much as possible!

Go on the VMK Home Page, then click on Contact Us. Then type in your player's User Name and Birth Date. After it should say why you got banned. That's what I did.

Translation: I got banned for 1 day and I was dying. I was so bored. An hour is bad enough. My day is nothing without VMK. I got banned during the yellow car quest because someone was standing on the last atom and wouldn't move. I waited 30 seconds and I asked him to move but he wouldn't. He got mad and reported me for a day, which is forever to me.

so today i was on main street with Redcoolkid (whiich is a part of dis) and we were acting like guests and making jokes. so the some strange girl cam up to me and said your so ugly! and she ran out of the room. then sh came back a few moments later and said "Your so ugly not even Darkness wants you" and then ran out of the room but before she did so she scream < removed> so i immedietly reported her for saying that and then red came out and i said omg someone just called me an <removed> and he said about at the same time he was reporting someone for that ( same person) so then about 10 minutes later vmk dc's both of us and the little hated message came uo saying you have been banned for your bad language in vmk! the ban is 2 hours which takes away the staff game for me on that account. i think vmk needs to watch who is doing the real bad things before banning someone for just repeating in Different lines!! i could have been talking about something totally Different.. i could have been saying as the hill was on fire or something mal and mods. this isn't i have been banned post this is a im a little upset post and hurt by it because it ruins my chances of becoming a community leader!

Yes, they monitor what is said everywhere, all the time, every room, every trade box, every in-game message. Anything "said" in any of those places is subject to review, and can result in negative action, if they deem it necessary.

Follow VMK values at all times, including here on DIS. As Mal has said before, if it can't be said in VMK, it probably shouldn't be said here.

All these unfair bans I am reading about are scaring me. But at the same time they are making me very careful. I wouldn't want a ban because I want to become a community leader. It's like you can't do anything in the game without being banned. I just don't get how they let the culprit go and ban the good person for reporting or repeating what the person said. I know you shouldn't repeat whatever bad thing someone says, but they let the person who originally said it go without a ban and they just ban the victim. Another thing, they ban the person who reports whatever someone says when they repeat it. Hello?! How else is staff going to know what this person said? Staff say to report anything bad but they just ban the person. This will result in less people using the report button. Without report, there will be more and more bad people getting away with things. I know I will never use the report button again because of this. Another thing, when someone is reported for no good reason or this person just lies about what this other person did, staff just ban without investigation. It's like staff like the bad people. They ban the good person whenever they report the bad person and don't ban the bad person, and they ban the good person when the bad person reports them. I'm sorry all you people who got banned for an unfair reason. I think they need to hire new staff or at least train them differently. Train them so that they actually read reports and investigate.

Depends on what happens. Sometimes they give you a warning, or sometimes they ban you without an warning.

and underneath it is one saying that our IP address is banned from VMK for a month:confused3 .
Well then my first son tells me about how he had been on and that a "friend" was talking to him about other sites and does he play on them. She then asked him for a screen name so that she could be friends with him on this other site. So instead of saying he can not give out this information he makes up a phony screen name [OMG how unthinking can a child be] he said he was just tring to be funny. [yea real funny] Well I try to Contact VMK using the feature provided and get a message telling me there is a technical problem and nothing is going through. How can I get this resolved?
For one child not thinking the whole family can not play for a month? Can anyone help me on this? Thanks for any help.

First of all why do you have an email address as a Dis name. Many bad people can contact you.

Next are you the only one on your computer that plays VMK. Did you ever pretend to be a staff by play acting.

Did any of your friends use your computer. Did you write VMK in contact us and that is how you got the message you were banned for impersenating a staff.

Did they ban your account or other in your family. You can check this out by using a library computer. If you were banned you will be banned there to. If it was some else in your family you should be able to get on.

My son was banned for giving personal information. A friend asked him what number in line he was for host game and when he answered he got a ban saying he was giving personal information. It is difficult to know when we can dictionary dance with numbers safely. The hosts do it, but in some cases it seems to trigger a ban.

And I did verify with the friend (who is an adult friend of mine) what was said. She asked him how many peeps was he behind. His answer got the two-hour ban. The length of the ban makes it not a big deal, but as a kid he is upset and also had hopes to someday be a CL.

So be careful!

I think he was behind twenty so it may have sounded like an age. Also I think he replied once to her and his number changed so right away he typed a new number.

I did receive back e-mail from VMK_Shorty saying after checking the log it was a fair and just ban and that he needs to read the rules and not give out any personal information so he doesn't get banned again. Sounded very form-letter like and didn't even address the issue.

And thank you for the information about the 2 hour ban not affecting the CL potential. I appreciate your response.

My parents kinda banned me from VMK and the DIS, but I still get to play on the weekends if I want. Not playing doesn't really bug me anymore though, and I think I got my life back. (Sep. 2005 - Dec. 2006 I lost my life ;) ) So I'll be back once in a while, and I think back for good eventually.
