Okay, i admit it I was banned :((. I'm SO mad! It's for 10 YEARS :furious:! how can they ban a person for 10 YEARS?! I just don't understand! All i did was tick this kid off bc i wouldn't trade with him, and he reported me for telling him my email address. (my friend told me all of this bc she was there at his house) and now im banned until March 7th, 2016!!!!!!!!!!! this TOTALLY sucks. I had a full blue dress, crown, cowboy hat and pants, 20,000 credits, 5 star fireworks and ghost magic, 150 really awesome friends. 2 bird hats, VMK_Flamingo, and HOST_Phinny as my friends. and TONS more! And boom, banned for 10 years. I made a new file and now i have, 11,000 credits, gold teleporters, 7 rooms, 150 friends, full cowboy suit, 5 star fireworks magic and 2 star ghost magic. ANd lots more. but im still really mad :furious:





sAme like me except im banned until 1-23-2017. This stinks :mad: like half the people do weird stuff that breaks the rules and yet vmk bans us for stupid little things. I got banned like a month ago. I think it was like January 20, 2007 and i got banned because i didnt trade with a kid and he wanted the pin and i said no but he banned me because i said a bad word which i didnt even say. All i say was no! I hope that boy gets banned. :mad: :lmao:

vmk is really only banning IP adresses, that means you go to your friends house or a diffrent internet provider and log on, it should work, remember, you didnt hear this from me.:cool2:

Sounds like they might have got the ban right. I am sure they reviewed the logs based on the complaint that you were implicated in and felt it was just. Your only option is to use the contact feature to give them your side but it sounds like you helped hatch the plan which in itself is against the values to encourage nother to do it even though you changed your mind.

I posted here last week that "friends" of my sons got into his VMK account help themselves, by trading to their characters, as it turns out over 100 of his items (at last count or least that's what's been returned so far) .We reported them, changed passwords as you all suggested, set him up with a new character and now he is banned (NOT THEM) for 10 years-someone please explain the logic in this to me. I do not let him play without me right there so I know other than being devestated he did nothing to them in return I am at a loss -now what do we do -it states the computer is banned so does that mean he can use another computer and get on??? We wrote to VMK, we used the report button on VMK and yet they aren't banned and he is-I just do not get it??? Help-Any answers, suggestions????

First off were you banned on your new account or old one? If it was the new one then that may be from transfering all your stuff there. They may have mistaken that account as the ' friends. ' I suggest writing a letter into the black hole, hoping your account will be recovered.

thanks for all the advice and suggestions-the girls that took my son's stuff were on my classroom computer during girl scouts after school ( I talked to one of the parents who serve as leaders and they said the girls told them it was ok to use the computer-it was for a project...I give up) and whatever they said or did must have caused the ban of the computer....seems like someone should be able to check the time logs ) Yes I have written several letters begging for some kind of help-nothing and no they were never warned, banned-nothing in spite of the fact that it turns out they did this to others as well. I read the post above from the kids who also took someone's things as a joke-virtual or not, it's just not funny when you're 10-or any age for that matter-hope someone learns a lesson from this-I know we did. On a happier note thanks to the amny wonderful people who have sent or traded my son's things to help replace his stuff. Dis rocks!

Usually I'd bug you about bumping an ancient thread, but not now. We REALLY needed this thread to be bumped back up, to many people are making new threads about bans.

And I'm sorry to hear about your ban, maybe one of the moderators that saw it was savvy enough to know that you can communicate on it. I think you can, right? I doubt this next thought, but maybe it was just about talking about a M rated game? Are you sure you haven't said ANYTHING else that might have been innapropriate in the last few days, or even weeks? They don't ban you as soon as you make an offense.

Do NOT give out your DIS Boards name, our anyother user name on VMK. They WILL ban you for it, as it is considered personal info. I've done it in PM's a few times, but I don't think that is even safe.

What, do you think that is okay in VMK? It's not like they would ban you for dancing around to Halo but not for saying that. Remember, this game is targeted for young kids. Although they say they love for people of all ages to be on, that doesn't mean you get to treat everyone like they are as old as you.

Football talking about outsides sites on VMK is strictly prohibited. Also word dancing to get around the word filter so you may tell some one to " go to Heck " is against the rules. Take the time you have off of VMK to review the VMK Rules and Values and maybe next time you get to play you will be more aware of your actions. I highly doubt anyone on this site will give you any information about how to switch your IP address. You clearly cant seem to understand what you did was wrong.

Football, there is no way to get on without changing your IP. Well, there is another way, but I honestly hope nobody will tell you how to get before you ban has ended. And please, decide whether you are banned for ten years or a month. >_< By the way, if you ARE banned for ten years it doesn't matter if you really care or not at that time because your character is deleted after six months of not logging on.

i dont think VMK deletes your account maybe for the 10 year ban but the one year i know they wont delete because sure enough if they are that addicted to VMK there going to want to come back

wait, was your son hosting the game recently? bc if he was making the people pay to play thats probably why he got banned due to recent changes in the values, but i doubt they will ban him for 8 years because of making people pay to play, well... if the person didnt want the prize VMK Staff can see the chat and reveiw it, if the person didnt want the prize im sure they wouldnt do anything so try asking them to review the chat logs and trade logs. Or VMK could have made a mistake...

Although I won't tell you how to change an IP on this thread just because football might read it, you can try and do that to get back on. It's weird that they only ban the IP and not the actual character. If you do change it, you may want to make new characters, because they may just ban you again if you are seen logging on.

I sent them a message. I have no idea why. I have never dictonary danced (other than saying on, too, tree, for, ive, fix, etc), I rarely speak to other players unless I am helping them, I follow the VMK values, I do not hang out in rooms that are not mine and I am never ugly to other players.

I am actually a little upset about this. It is only a game and not anything that will affect my life, but to be "punished" for something and not know why really upsets me.

I know it was not anything I did, but I am concerned now that maybe my daughter was in a room with people saying stuff they should not have been.

Yes definitely question it, they will explain the reason for the ban and you can dispute it. They can review what happened and when.

It's not the first time vmk's auto banner has gotten people by mistake. Everyday dozens of people say dont pretend to be staff and they get banned for no reason

I anticipate a return phone call from VMK staff before the end of the week admitting they messed up. In the meantime, I hope the popcorm carts do not go away and nothing cool comes out that I might miss.

I must admit however, knowing I did nothing wrong makes being banned from a game a much bigger ordeal than it should be.

Wow, this is incredible!! I guess everyone should take this as a warning NEVER to trade in any of your rooms with a ride, or that you sometimes host a game in. :sad2:

While I am sure they will find your ban was unjustified, it's unfair that you were accused of this to start with.

I belive VMK refers to it as Dictionary Dancing and it is against the values to say something via Dictionary Dancing. Although I don't think they've ever enforced it much until recently.

Did you contact VMK? Something about that does not sound right. VMKers think other VMKers are unfair all of the time. Somebody thinking you are unfair is not against VMK values and does not make you unfair.

If you were showing partiality to your friends, then that is where the is an issue. :)

Actually if you are the one that got banned for the caps thing (car = Can A Read) that's a fair ban, it is dictionary dancing which is against VMK values. You got a fair ban

Then why do you care if you account is banned? Unless you are the one selling the Pirate Room card with a "bonus" ATIS Eye for $100 - which is also against ebay rules and will get removed. Look at all the auctions, noone is doing the whole "bonus thing" because it is not allowed. Your auctions will get removed, bank on it

You should call. Sending an email is almost pointless.
VMK_Shorty responds to most of them and he/she obviously does not know how to read. I would place a phone call, leave a message and give them a few days to either take action or return your phone call.

This girls was smarting off at me so i reported her and told her and clicked the ignore button and VMK said we will check this out remember to click the ignore button! and then she reported when all i did was tell her to back off and I got ban for violence to other player 'Joking or not' and I was just about to leave the room!
I have e-mailed VMK Staff and I'm waiting for a reply luckily it is my first ban! BUT I WANT TO BE A COMMUNITY LEADER! :scared: :scared: and vmk is quite unfair about these things..

There is no such reply... if you scrolled to the question "I think I'm Banned" they will give you a reason right there on the contact us.

Just cause you were banned that day doesn't mean it happened that day. It could be something that was done a day before or even a month before. Did you give info out you shouldn't? Just the smallest bit of personal info can get you banned even though you may not think so. Did you say something that could have been taken in a different way?

If you were banned for 10 years VMK staff is telling you that you have shown the inability to follow the guidelines that you agreed to follow when you signed up for VMK.

Changing your IP address is like asking someone to help you make a fake ID if your drivers license has been suspended for life. You have been locked out of the game. I am sorry for this, but maybe you need to look at WHY instead of trying to work around it.

btw, it is a very known fact that vmk staff reads these boards, meaning, they most likely now know that you are working on changing your IP address to get around a 10 year ban.

Obviously, if you did not do any of the things that you received a 10 year ban for, then you should call VMK staff and discuss that issue with them, instead of just changing your IP address.

while it is possible, it is still more likely the person who got the ban did the deed. 90% of these posts say they didnt do anything wrong, and as we ask questions we see they usually did something wrong, just dont realize its wrong. the other 10% I feel their pain.

If you were banned for 10 years VMK staff is telling you that you have shown the inability to follow the guidelines that you agreed to follow when you signed up for VMK.

Changing your IP address is like asking someone to help you make a fake ID if your drivers license has been suspended for life. You have been locked out of the game. I am sorry for this, but maybe you need to look at WHY instead of trying to work around it.

btw, it is a very known fact that vmk staff reads these boards, meaning, they most likely now know that you are working on changing your IP address to get around a 10 year ban.

Obviously, if you did not do any of the things that you received a 10 year ban for, then you should call VMK staff and discuss that issue with them, instead of just changing your IP address.

Yes, because I believe they should NOT ban you at all for saying a word with it's meant meaning that they have in the dictionary. Why let us say it if we are threatened to be banned when we do so?

If you are like me you probably write down all codes from the arcade games, narnia, pirates etc. If you have those still i would suggest you hang on to them as proof that you got the codes honestly by playing the games. Perhaps you could make copies and mail them?? Gosh I feel just terrible for you!

Yeah I understand where you are coming from. However, having seen some VERY well known Vmk members selling ACTUAL virtual items (Inferno, Eye pin, stitch) on Ebay, I believe there is a huge difference between that and what I did. I was not even expecting to use the codes. I understood that person's post to mean was I buying or selling the actual virtual VMK items. While yes I did purchase VMK collectable cards, I was not getting them with the intent to use the codes, even though that is allowed and I have done that once in a while in the past for various park quest items (once again, bought the cards, not the virtual items). It is the selling and buying of actual virtual items that is not allowed. I did tell Contact Us the full story, including the Ebay part and the friend's birthday, because I figured, hey if they don't know everything, how can they help me? :sad2: Guess it didn't matter :sad1: What a mess. Sorry for any confusion. Thanks for your hugs though Bears. I'm pretty upset about all this.

I haven't created another account. I tried signing on with my DH's, but that's when it said my IP has been banned. I think I'm going to have him call them. I tend to start crying and getting all my words mixed up and forgetting what I mean to say when I have to deal with emotional confrontations. And in regards to getting someone with a fully functioning brain, I was just telling Roller I'm pretty sure VMK is run by robots, not real people. What else could possibly explain the strangeness that is VMK_Shorty?!?!??!?!

If she is on dialup, her IP will change every time she dials in. If she is on a cable or DSL modem, the IP can be changed in mere seconds depending on the router she is using.

The last thing I want to do is get into any more trouble with VMK :( I'm so worried. I know I didn't do anything wrong, but I have heard so many horror stories that I'm just sick to my stomach. I disagree with that. I have 3 kids and them and I play on VMK. Last Sunday my kids were all away for the day and I was at home playing on vmk and cleaning house. I was talking to Bubbles inbetween loads of washing and dishes, just as she was. Now I wasn't playing any game, other than jungle cruise. Jungle cruise is where I go when I have think to do, and yet still make money, granted only 20 credits, but better than nothing. As I write this I'm on the jungle cruise. Now Bubbles and I are friends, and she did not tell me she was banned!!!!!, and have shared many a game of pirates with roller, super, princess and so on, but I'm not a person who talks in open rooms and if I do it's always just hi how are you? pink or green, you start or I? you know the pure basic stuff and nothing more! anyways, I told bubbles I'd brb and went off to put another load in the washer and wash the dishes and during that time I got dc for inactivity, which was fine. I cooked supper and then logged back onto VMK, to find this nice little note from staff saying this was my warning and that you can't give out personal information. I promptly logged out and went to writting vmk via the contact us option. I was very detailed in that I wasn't online do to dc for inactivity. They replied today, from my the person I dislike...vmk shorty, who doesn't answer questions, just leaves you with me that you started with. I had said to vmk that I wanted them to send me proof that I did or said something wrong, but I know I didn't and no one else from my account could have either! Shorty's reply was this:

I tried to write back, but got the it's been closed because problem solved. Well hello, nothing was solved, because you didn't answer my freaking questions Mister!! I called today, and got told deal with it or leave VMK, so unless someone has a better way of reaching a human who knows what they are doing I am about to give up. Now on a side note, my 17 year old daughter logged on Sunday night, to find the same message from staff about the warning, but now my 2 youngest kids didn't have the note so it's not a blanket ISP message. Someone did tell me that if your in a room and someone gives out personal information, anyone in the room can get the warning or ban. I disagree with that 100%!
I want VMK to show me what I said that was wrong, but they won't. I use to run a BBS so I know for a fact about all the capture programs so I don't buy they can't show me. Granted my BBS only had about 2500 members, but still I could look over everything that was said or done in the chat rooms, mail, pm's, mud game, tradewars game and ect for the past 30 days, so I know they can too.
Bubbles, I have bought lots of cards off ebay, plus I have a sheet of codes from playing narnia, yeti, pirates and so on, I don't know how to go about it, but we need to get together and support each other. I get a warning for saying nothing, bubbles gets banned for entering codes, but yet I see people talking about having sex and all kind of other things, but they don't get in any trouble? How is that possible??? Oh wait I know, the adults get banned but the kids run rampid?

I totally agree, the moderation in VMK is ridiculous. I had the same message while on a quest. I had to got to the esplanade for my next task. Message pops up about giving out personal information, huh. I was only there until next task and said NOTHING. I also found the same message in my messages when i checked them after the quest. Now how can I be giving out personal information without speaking a single word???? Pure insanity! Hang in there bubble. Maybe if enough of us contact VMK this can be resolved!!

Okay, Bubble, first - so sorry this has happened. :hug: I understand the emotional side of this as vmk is a social circle that we all have come to love for various reasons. The friendships and laughter shared in game are amazing.

That said, you need to remove yourself from that completely and view this only logically so that you can see what has happened, why, and how to approach it to find a way to get your access rights back.

I have read the above and would like to try to offer a view that will hopefully help you pull together the facts needed when you speak with someone associated with VMK tomorrow.

So...

Apparently I have been banned for "buying and selling items." I sent in a contact us form yesterday because two Holiday cards' codes would not work. I had puchased the cards off Ebay for a close friend who collects Disney pins, cards, and memorabilia. He does not play on VMK, so he allowed me and my DH to use the codes. Due to a glitch with my wireless, two of my codes would not go through. I wrote into Contact Us explaining the situation and they sent back two replies. One with how they can ban you for selling and buying items and accounts (even though I clearly explained this is not the case) and another saying they can do nothing with things puchased outside of Disney parks and stores (never mind that the cards were in their original packaging -_-)...

...They gave me a lecture about buying/selling items and accounts, and that appears to be why I was actually banned.....

Okay... so, quite clearly, FROM VMK'S VIEW:
You bought cards on ebay, along with codes. From the VMK House Rules:
"#10 Don't buy or sell accounts or items. We reserve the right to cancel any player account that was bought or sold, or player accounts that have bought or sold items." I would have to say that codes most likely is the same as items in VMK's view (not ebay's, VMK's). So... FROM THEIR VIEW, you have broken this house rule (I am guessing).

Now...

...having seen some VERY well known Vmk members selling ACTUAL virtual items (Inferno, Eye pin, stitch) on Ebay, I believe there is a huge difference between that and what I did. I was not even expecting to use the codes.
VERY TRUE. We all probably know people who have bought and sold VMK items on ebay. The challenge VMK has, of course, is how to patrol and when to enforce. Sadly, you told them straight from your own Contact Us message that you bought cards on ebay and attempted to use the accompanying codes. So, you made it very easy for them to decide to enforce this policy against you. Technically, you bought codes for items on ebay.

However... what about intent?

...While yes I did purchase VMK collectable cards, I was not getting them with the intent to use the codes, even though that is allowed and I have done that once in a while in the past for various park quest items (once again, bought the cards, not the virtual items). It is the selling and buying of actual virtual items that is not allowed.

What you need to explain, calmly and rationally, to someone at the phone numbers you have been provided is the order of events and the intent behind your purchase:
1. You purchased the cards.
2. You gifted those cards to a friend.
3. You were then GIVEN codes by your friend, who does not play VMK.

It is a fine line, but there is a difference. THAT is your "leg to stand on." You need to show them that you did not buy codes or items on ebay. You need to get them to see that you bought cards on ebay and a friend gave you some codes as a gift (they just happened to be the codes on the same cards that you purchased). I don't know how successful you will be with this, but from everything you have explained, and hearing 1.5 years of "banned" stories, this seems to be the best approach.

I hope this helps in some way. Please know I am trying to offer you a perspective that hopefully will help (or I would not have spent way too much time following your chain of events and trying to find a way for your present your case).

Two small side notes:
1 - ...they said about the entering too many codes thing, that they do not allow third party software use to enter codes.... what absolute (words i cannot say here, but am still thinking quite clearly in my head)

It truly seems that this is NOT the issue with your ban, but just so you know it IS against the VMK values to use any software at all to enter codes. From the vmk values: "#1 - Use ANY hacking, scripting or editing program that modifies VMK or changes the game. (This includes the use of code generation tools.)"

2 - It seems this began when you wrote to VMK about the codes not working. Sadly, since you do not know the history of those codes for an absolute fact, they may have already been used. Since you mentioned "original packaging" I am guessing they are stitch cards since they come in a little package. Maybe, the codes were already used and the person truly was just selling the cards. No clue, just a thought.... However, the "validity" of the codes would seem questionable to me since you do not know their "life story."

PHEW! Okay... hope this perspective helps you put together some thoughts and an approach when you speak with someone at VMK. Best of luck to you. Hope to see you in Funville soon!

VMK does not have any rules concerning buying cards on ebay - transferring the "do not sell accounts" to the cards is ridiculous. A phone call top them is definately in order.

........ Seriously? I'm the worst person in the world with computers and couldn't begin to do any of those. Then I got the stupid "We have closed your original help request, because we felt that our last email to you answered your question. If you need more help, please use the VMK Help Tool again and we will get back to you as soon as we can." email. Anyone else as lost as me?

Btw here are the two messages I sent them.
"Your response emails did not help me at all. I attempted to reply and was informed that you believe they answered my questions. They did not. I was in NO way purchasing or selling items or accounts. We received the items through Ebay in their original packaging, and immediately gave them to our friend, who is a collector of Disney items. They were part of his birthday present. He had no use for the codes, so he gave them to us. We cannot easily get down to the parks so we have to use services such as Ebay to get mechandise others can easily get from the parks. I believe this is a completely unfair ban. Please send more than a generic response back. Thank you."
That was in response to the Ebay response they sent me about buying/selling items.

So sorry to hear about your Dad, both DH and I lost our fathers to cancer over a year ago. VMK may seem trivial in comparison but I understand that sometimes you just need to escape from reality for a while. I wish I had VMK when I was going through that time in my life. :hug:

Well now I know why they call him Shorty; short of brain cells!! How on earth can they say you were using Hacking or Scripting to get codes when you clearly stated the codes were from CARDS!!! You may have to get your hands on those cards or at least have your friend send you copies to prove you did not use some other means of getting codes. So sorry about your father, having lost a family member to cancer several years ago I know what you are going through. My prayers to you, your father and your family!!

An IP ban means that I cannot play any of my characters on my computer, unless I change the IP address, which as computer dumb as I am, I have no clue how to do. My DH's computer has been acting up so he's been using mine, but now he can't even get on his character... arg.

And Tiki, I'm as lost as you, but LOL on the Shorty comment. I couldn't even tell you what a scripting program is. I'm just as confused as can be.

I called VMK Operations (had to do something to take mind off my dad) and left a message. Hopefully, I'll be hearing from them soon....

I agree with you. In fact if you go to a disney theme park and receive any form of rude treatment from a disney staff member, Im sure they would be quietly escorted off disney property. There is nothing wrong with wanting answers. Their policies are inconsistant and many times to harsh. And what happened to a warning before that 10 yr ban?
