we always stand on main street and we can see the parade perfectly. we find a spot about 30-45mins before it's due to start and camp there. the kids have snacks and drinks and we all enjoy seeing all the people coming to see it.:dance3:

Theres no way my DD would hang around for 30 minutes waiting for the parade to start :confused3 - I don't think I would either.

If you're not going to DLRP at a busy time (I never have) then you can find a great spot on the route in Fantasyland anything up to 5 minutes before the parade is due to begin. We usually pick our spot up near the Bella Notte outside seating area, but on the opposite side of the parade route (there are benches there). Its very near the start of the parade, and apart from in Christmas and Halloween season, its also one of the 2 spots where the princesses get down off their float and dance in the parade.

We always watch it from the gates near Fantasyland and then make a mad dash from there round to Pirates as soon as its left.

We usually find that the corner by the main street gates is fairly quiet and it offers a reasonable view, without having to get there too early to get a kerb space.

When we went in April it was quite busy in the afternoons esp at 5pm - for the parade. As Elaine said, we stood near Small World near the gate they come out from and it was great! Not a lot of people know that the princesses get down off the floats and dance. It was great!!!

But make sure you have snacks, ice cream, water etc to keep DS busy.

The 1st time we went, we stood at a junction kind of opposite the ice-cream place (think it's called Gibson Girl or something) - or near Casey's Corner I think. We had very good view from there.

This time round, we watched the parade twice and I'm glad we did coz I didn't realise that there were other characters on "the other side" of the float. More different characters shared a float this time round. We stood on Main Street - on the opposite side of the Railroad thingy, in front of where they have the Mary Poppins show (can't remember what that spot is called now....). Then the 2nd time we watched the parade, we stood on the same side as the Railroad station and saw the 'other side' of the floats. Brilliant.

We were also there about half an hour before the parade started as we wanted to be right in front. Just had snacks to keep the kids occupied plus there was plenty of space towards the back of the pavement for them to run around if they got bored. I just stayed sitting on the pavement to keep hold of our space while DH ran around after the kids lol.

There's also the stone seats opposite the Castle stage ~ I think it's Maleficent who gets off and does her evil dance there.

I'd also say if you can see the parade more than once then do :thumbsup2 like mummyal said try and be on the opposite side of the floats to see the different characters, also try to stand in a different place to see different characters get off their floats to dance. We stood near the Ribbons and Bows baby shop in Town Square one time and it was Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore's turn there. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

If you are a familly of Princess Lovers stand by the Bella Notte restaurant up near it's a Small World (basically by the Gates the parade starts from!) The Princess floats stop here and they get off and dance!!!

They hold the rope across the road there so people can cross from one side to the other and if you are lucky keep yourself to one side or by the railings (right opposite "Bella Notte Pizzeria") then when the parade is about to start they put the rope back across and you end up basically at the front.

We rolled up there at 4.45 yesterday (parade started at 5pm) thinking oh well we can perch on a lampost or similar only to find this was a great place for last minute front of the rope positioning! and we had snow white and her prince, sleeping beauty, and cinderella all dancing round in front if us

Just like we Dreamed it!!

If you want an overall view of the float for photo purposes go a little bit further down from Bella Notte to where two towers are eeither side of the road. and stand on the castle side of the towers, this is one of the last places to get busy (been using this spot for years) and you can get good overall front shots and for the backshots if the sun isn't too high in the sky you get a lovely pic of the float with the castle as it's background

:thumbsup2
