I have a formal question. I bought a dress that is formal material and looks formal but it not floor length. It is actually short. The guys were just going to wear suits and of course Brooke will wear the Giselle costume. Do you guys think that is formal enough? The bad thing is we are all wearing black except Brooke. It's so cute when everyone matches.

I think many shorter dresses can be great formals. No need for a floor length dress by any means. I wish I could have all three in my group match but it is just too many night to worry about so in a dress or a suit of any kind will work for my kids and a tux for Dom on formal nights.

Don't forget if you make over $150,000 you don't get it.

That sucks

It was one of those moments that just seemed surreal while it was happening. And I had just spent like 8 hours working in the heat in the summer so I really wasn't totally with it if you know what I mean.

Geez I hope the apology was a really good one! I know the police have to stay on edge due to all the bad people out there but it is always bad when they make mistakes that affect people such as yourself who are totally innocent and minding their own business.

And we are looking forward to meeting you two and Carol and Doug! Great table!!!:cool1:

I say wear what you are comfortable in (as long as it isn't lime green)

I think we will have the whole range on formal night.

No lime green? :rolleyes1

No Indiania Jones!

Thanks Gydell. :sad1: about Indiana Jones, but understandable I suppose.

I absolutely love how relaxed I feel after the chiropractor! When I used to work for UPS about 4 1/2 years ago, our insurance had chiropractic coverage. No migraines during that time! And the massage chair after each adjustment left me feeling like jello. So nice! :cloud9:

I don't find being there relaxing, but afterwards my body feels relaxed and loose!!! When he has to adjust my neck he alsways has to tell me to relax as that it what I hate the most!!! CRACK!

:rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Um. nope. I've been packing for US for 41 years. It works in our world. Although I do have to admit that the last couple of trips DrHug has done some of his packing himself. He did all his packing for a trip to my niece's in Washington State.....we made a trip to Walmart for some jeans and underwear! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

That would be John too!:lmao:

Thanks everybody for keeping me sane last night. I stayed at the hospital till 3:30am while my DH slept at home. He got up and we switched at 3:30am. I came home and slept.

I would have kept reading but my eyes started burning and that blackberry screen gets really little.

The hospital is the largest tramua center in the DC area. I was there from 8pm till 3:30am and I counted 12 helicopters landing with trauma patients. Right next to Frank was a police office (female) keeping a prisoner under control and he gave her a really hard time. She was TOUGH!! I laughed and said to her..."Boy, are you going to be a great mom!" She did not take any crap at all from that guy. She had a taser pointed at him all the time. It was a little scary.

The was a girl that came in in labor...she was about 16 years old and she was screaming her lungs out. I felt so sorry for her. They kept asking her if her water had broken and all she could say was there is so much blood...of course the wisked her off. All I could think of if she could have seen this night 9 months ago.......oh well.

Frank is okay....right now......I am starting to think he will never get better.

Long hard night for you Lisa. Will keep praying.

They put out a schedule just like the movie theater, but the trick is to see the movie w/o interfering with sun time, drink time, game time etc...

Such a problem!!!!:rotfl:

I want this one ... what do I need to do??? These are all so cute!! I am so enjoying looking at them all.

Ken, Mousefaninqueue is going to see what he can do with that graphic. Otherwise you can right click and save the picture.

Darrell wouldn't forget pants - he would just think the pair he was wearing would be all he needed for a week or so :rotfl2:

This is John again!!!:lmao:

wow if we had memberships and what not to pay we'd be in the hole....after all the stuff is deducted from my pay I do not bring home much at all! Neither does John really.....our mortgage is crazy! Samantha's college is paid for and we signed up for Haley's this year - paying on a 5 year plan - only because my dad and his girlfriend agreed (insisted) they pay for the first year. I am not sure how we can handle the payments next year...will be an adjustment for sure! in addition to everything else!

That's great that you and John have Samanthas college done and are now working on Haleys. You may have to sacrifice some extras here and there for those few years but it is so worth it the wonderful thing you are doing for your kids.

Morning all - early day today as I am on the road again....

chip&dale&fun
03-26-2008, 04:12 AM
She says things are better now! Thank goodness!

Did everyone hear that Delta is now imposing a $25 charge on the 2nd piece of luggage that is checked?

No way! We are flying Delta......I am really bummed on this luggage issue....Dleta also charges $80. (i think) if you are over 50 pounds.....

I am sure we will need a dry run this time.

chip&dale&fun
03-26-2008, 04:13 AM
SECOND piece? Oh my that is crazy! So people going on long trips are supposed to pack only one bag? Suppose there is nothing to do but pay it but still crazy!

Yup - another $50.00 to the account....DH says that this is a trip of a lifetime so we (make that I) should not worry......But honestly......

chip&dale&fun
03-26-2008, 04:14 AM
I would like one as well, please.

Karl - what font did you use??????

chip&dale&fun
03-26-2008, 04:16 AM
I have started my packing for John now.....I have 7 polos is that too many you think?

AT $25 per extra bag - yum, yes????

Serioulsly, I need all the hints on packing s we have always driven to/from the ship. I am beginning to have second thoughts on laundry.....

chip&dale&fun
03-26-2008, 04:18 AM
I am wondering about this as well. He only has two polos, one nice button up and like 5 Hawaiians because he wears suits to work and t-shirts on the weekends. I don't want to buy him too many more because he won't wear them. He'll have to wear them more than once.

DH will be wearing Hawaiian shirts for most dinners as well......

I think I will pack the dive gear and the formal night and other themed nights and weigh bags then decide what else we will wear - hey who said we can't be pirates for more than 1 night???

chip&dale&fun
03-26-2008, 04:21 AM

Apologies but I forget - are you another redhead? We look good in green....

chip&dale&fun
03-26-2008, 04:24 AM
Just wondering, aren't they used to packing for themselves and know what they like wear and not wear?

I am planning a week's worth of clothing and doing laundry. For shirts for me that would mean about 4 to 5 t-shirts, 4 to 5 tropical shirts.

I am not packing any dress shirts, other than the 2 wing collared shirts to go with the tux.

I refuse to wear a jacket to Palo. It's just too bad. I wear one of my better tropical shirts and a pair of kakis that I would usually wear to work.

They'll just have to get over it, and they do.

I'll probably have 1 other pair of long pants, and then various shorts.

Now, if someone wants to come over to my house, and start packing for me, you're more than welcome.

After you're done with packing, there's some light vacuuming to be done and after that thrashing the wheat (Oh and some recreational butter churning and spinning)

.

For what it is worth DH is wearing his tux to semi-formal and Palo's - without the tux shirt...ok, let me rephrase - we a regular shirt....That gives him one "suit" for 4 dinners ....

chip&dale&fun
03-26-2008, 04:25 AM
There were tons of formals, well short ones at Dillard's on clearance for under $20, too bad none of them fit! :(

I am also really cheap, the capris and shorts I wanted were 50 and I was not going to spend 50 on something I don't hope to be fitting in to all that much longer.

AIdol is on!

I am with you on that....I found a great lightweight shorts outfit onsale (blue) - shorts were $7.00 and later in another store they had the shorts in green......$50.....nope, now if they go on sale?????

that is actually a good way, then you can preserve your picture. Probably costs less too.

Also - I then use the door sign in my scrap book - which has been a 3-ring binder for the past cruises.....The magnets are those you can buy in a roll.....small strips....

Good Morning Everyone.....Angie, I caught your bug. I spent the entire day yesterday with my head down because it hurt so much. The stomach wasn't cooperating either......I lost my cookies 3 times in the bathroom. So far all I've had to eat is dry toast and tea.....luckily I kept it down. I'm not as bad today, but still not feeling 100% and don't want to push it. The bug must be going around the country. Michelle, didn't you have it before Angie did? I haven't felt this bad since I was in the hospital after my leg surgery.....I had flashbacks of that the whole day yesterday and it's not a pleasant memory.

Who was kicked off Dancing with the Stars

Did you see the first one? The guy? Won't say right now because some haven't seen it but will put it in white if you need to know that one too (someone has said the girl).

We are flying Delta, too. DH is out of town and when I told him last night he just about blew a casket. :scared1: :headache: Finally got him calmed down and since this is such a special trip we will have to pay it. I have also heard a rumor that Delta is pulling out of MCO. No confirmation or when but it could be interesting if it is before this cruise. Thank goodness we booked with DCL and that would their worry, not mine. I can tell you, if we were leaving from and returning to FL we would definitely be driving.

wow, it's so wierd. My Grandad has been gone for a long time (1996?) but since he was always gone on trips - to this day, I still feel when I go home, he will be there. He was the Disney guy, he loved dining at Epcot, he would love AK!!

California will be kind of bittersweet for me. I was last there on a cheerleading competition and just so happened that day, he found out he had cancer. They still came to see me compete, I was none the wiser and I got to visit them away from my group but had no clue why.

V, thank you for sharing your memories with us. I know he was a very special man to have raised such a special girl as you are!

Yes, while the Magic was docked at Port Canaveral, we had to wait in the parking lot across the street with all our luggage (the porters would not accept incoming luggage). We were told it was a bomb scare.

Once onboard, we learned a Customs dog alerted to a suitcase in the baggage area. It later turned out to be food. People were furious.

Woody

So you can't bring anything? Other people on other threads say to bring snacks and candy.

nanatink
03-26-2008, 08:45 AM
I previously posted that we experienced a one hour delay in boarding the Magic because a Customs dog alerted to a checked bag belonging to a disembarking passenger. Disembarking passengers were delayed as well.

Customs treated it as a bomb scare, until it was determined to be food.

Someone else here posted they had a similar experience on the Wonder.

The lesson: Don't put food into checked luggage when you disembark. You might cause people to miss their flights home.

Woody

Also like to mention the delay in people going to the parks and all who were standing in a grid lock in the lobby to disembark. We were held up for a considerable time on our Dec. cruise.

Hope you feel better soon

V, we went with DU and had no choice about getting GTY. I wouldn't choose it, why would I?

I really don't know why some who were with DU got assigned rooms and some didn't, but I feel miffed about it.

I don't know how it worked with the DU agents and booking.
Whether they had to contact DCL about each individual and got what DCL offered each time.
Or if they went to DCL with a list, saying they needed X number of each category, then assigned customer's names to what DCL gave them.

Either way, perhaps each DU agent had a list of their customers and the order in which they'd received their request, and maybe that's how it is that some had a room assigned straight away and others are GTY. The ones who put their request in first got first dibs at the room numbers.

Are there any TAs out there who would know? (And are allowed to explain.)

Oh dear, hope you managed to catch up and get everyone where they needed to be and you to work in good time.

Also like to mention the delay in people going to the parks and all who were standing in a grid lock in the lobby to disembark. We were held up for a considerable time on our Dec. cruise.

We had gridlock at disembarkation on our Dec cruise too. We were told to wait and not try to get off. Then we had to wait in the ship's lobby whilst the previous pack of passengers moved. Huge queue then once we had our baggage. They said it was due to the new security and checking everyone's passports carefully. Porters were not happy but of course couldn't do anything about it.

Hi Gydell....thanks for your well wishes. I'm feeling a little better today. I hate when I'm sick like this. It was rough going yesterday.

My legs are better and the same. I still have to wrap them for the wound, but it's getting smaller. I'm using the compression sleves on both legs and it's working. The edema is not as bad as it was. So we're making very slow progress.

I actually went with DU originally and forgot that I had sent a request through a different TA also. When they both came back, DU was a gty and the other TA had a room number. Also, the other TA came back early in the morning and DU was much later in the afternoon. I imagine DU had a lot more requests so it took them longer.

I didn't think I would be able to get online that day so put my request through DU.
On the day I did get online and could've booked the exact room I wanted, but thought I'd better wait for DU. I didn't hear from them until after work on 1st Feb, by which time I was seriously regretting not having booked myself when I had the chance. But DU got me a Cat 5 for the same price I could've booked a Cat 6, so it worked out in the end.

I do wonder just how many people on this cruise booked through DU.

I found while I was in WDW last week I did not worry about Frank. I felt like Don's brother should be stepping up to the plate more to help. I have told you guys this before....they have a very hard time...(Doug has cancer in remission, Andrew 17 is autistic, Taylor 13 is mostly deaf and Adele the wife is just mean).

When I called last night to say Frank was doing badly and I was going to take him to the hospital based on what the doctor wanted....Doug said okay call me in the morning....no offer of help.

I am pretty sure I will go on this trip and not worry about the older generation in my house.

When I read it and I think you are good heart in the family like gold heart!! , I understand that your brother in law? Doug sound don't bother at all. Sad is it. Why people do like that!!

Gydell,

I went with a different TA and got a gty. Having been in the business I think it was just that at a certain point DCL got overwhelmed and stopped giving out room numbers to anyone and just gave out gtys. Which would have been faster. Anyone requested before that time got a room number, anyone after got a gty. That way they could go back in when things were slower and sort everything out. Now that said, do I like it, NO! No way! We are flying Delta......I am really bummed on this luggage issue....Dleta also charges $80. (i think) if you are over 50 pounds.....

I am sure we will need a dry run this time.

Ok, last October I was over by about 6lbs, and Jetblue charged me $20 or $25, I could have had another 14lbs for that amount. On the way home, no charge, don't know why on that, but I was happy. I don't mind paying that seeing what is happing at other airlines. Yes, my flights have changed, but by less then 30 mins and my direct flight is still direct. On the way home I have 38" of leg room, this was an extra $20 (shorter flights it is $10), well worth it for the 5 hr+ red eye flight to JFK form LGB. And although Jetblue gets blasted for delays they are one of the few that will give credit for a time delay due to any reason.

Carol, I read this too, Jetblue is opening Orlando as a Key City, training center, boarding for staff and it will be a Hub city to the South. They are moving into Airside 1, which is where Delta is right now.

We booked it ourselves online on the opening day. It is a funny story. Well NOW it is a funny, on the day it wasn't.

We got up and went online and my wife was busy booking it all up and everything. We even got the rooms we wanted. Got it all booked up and applied the $200 deposit. Then I looked at what she had done.

She had booked us on the Transatlantic cruise for May 2007!

So then she tries to get on the phone to DCL to get it changed. I was not willing to book the Panama Cruise until this one got straightened out as we weren't sure what we would be on the hook for if it couldn't get straightened out. Meanwhile I checked out the PC cruise and could get the room I wanted, but Shannon had not yet gotten through to DCL to get the Transatlantic one cleared up. So those rooms went bye bye. I'm continuing to watch as rooms get booked up by others, all the while Shannon is sitting on hold with DCL.

She ends up having to take the morning off work because she was still on hold several hours later.

In the end it all worked out and we got booked into the correct cruise and cancelled the Transatlantic, however we ended up being GTY.

We then transferred it to DU and were given a room assignment on Jan 18, 2008.

We laugh now about it, but on the day things were pretty heated in our basement!!

When I did a cruise of the Hawaiian Islands last summer, we were diving at 3 of the 4 ports. My friend brought all her own gear, even wet suit, while I rented everything (except my own prescription mask and Suunto Mosquito computer). To each his own, but I was sure glad not to be schlepping all that gear back and forth, rinsing, trying to find a place to put it to dry, etc.

Have you considered renting the gear?

I previously posted that we experienced a one hour delay in boarding the Magic because a Customs dog alerted to a checked bag belonging to a disembarking passenger. Disembarking passengers were delayed as well.

Customs treated it as a bomb scare, until it was determined to be food.

Someone else here posted they had a similar experience on the Wonder.

Hey, Customs dogs alert to the strangest things. Why take the risk?

I agree. There is nothing I have to have that desperately. If I was that particular about what I had to have to eat or drink, I would never travel. It's not worth the hassle.

Yikes, keep it in Pa, do not send to Maryland. Hope you are feeling better soon. from a distance.

I am so mad....my car payment is due today and they haven't rec'd my check yet which I sent out a while ago....!

We converted everything to electronic payments. I was tired of the postal delays. Also when we go on vactation we don't have to worry about a missed payment for anything. It also cuts down on the amount of mail we have to pick up when we have the mailed stopped for vacations as well. :thumbsup2

I wanted to share with you guys my experience with CafePress.com. I ordered a few things and got my order the other day. We both got the hooded sweatshirts, but Bubba's logo on the front was off center and crooked. I went to the website and requested an exchange. They want you to be 100% satisfied with you order. I just got an email from them saying that they are sending out a new order and I dont have to send the misprinted one back.

So if you ordered from them and aren't happy with everything, you can exchange for the same item, a different item or request a refund. Hey they might not even want you to send back what your not happy with so you don't incure additional cost for shipping back.

If you go for a spray on tan, make sure the can says micro mist. It helps to reduce streaks and blobs.

Try Benedryl.....if it works, then it's allergies. My brother is highly allergic to my dog and cat and when he stayed here for a couple of weeks he took Benedryl and it helped him.

I wonder if you can set up automatic payment from online banking? That should be free from your bank, and the car company gets a check? I do that for my mortgage payment. Heck, who am I kidding, I pay almost everything online and automatically...it totally throws me when I have to write a check for something. I hardly use checks and I think I still have .37 cent stamps....

Oh, the tech age!

And...stamp prices are going up once again...41 cents sometime around mother's day. I do everything on line for our personal stuff but my business account will not allow me to do checks by mail, so I still need to mail them :confused3

Carol, I read this too, Jetblue is opening Orlando as a Key City, training center, boarding for staff and it will be a Hub city to the South. They are moving into Airside 1, which is where Delta is right now.

We don't have Jetblue in Columbus and Delta has always been the #1 carrier to MCO. The only one with any direct flights. Always full. Wonder who will take up the slack from here? :confused3

Marilyn....it will have probably faded a lot by the time you board the Magic, but you could have gotten some real color in the parks so it might be worth it for the park portion of your trip. I found that if I got spray tanned and wasn't going to be in the sun much I would use the self tanners every day and it helped the spray tan last longer.

Can you have a spray tan straight after waxing? One big problem is that we go to the airport on the Monday to fly Tuesday, and Monday is a public holiday, so no salons open! That means waxing on the Saturday.

I think you can...you just can't spray before waxing. I guess it depends on how irritated you become from waxing. I would think all you would need to do is make sure the moisturizer they put on is all off....so exfoliate before you spray. I have sprayed the day after waxing with no problems.

I wonder if Skybus might not be adding Orlando to the roster. There will be room at Jetblue's old gates, they had 6 for domestic flights in airside 2(?).

I actually liked the body lotion, though it does have an unusual smell. I wish they provided shower gel in the cabins too.

I like the Kiwi & Cassis lotion, which I first bought onboard and which is what I stocked up on last month. I can't remember the 'flavour' of the lotion provided onboard. I did like the one provided at Wilderness Lodge, not sure if it's the same. 'Aquatics', or something like that.

On our first cruise we had the Daisy Duck lotion - packaging is cute and the lotion okay, I still have lots! Shampoo was dreadful though, but again the packaging was cute. H2O products are a definite improvement. I agree that shower gel would be nice rather than just soap.
