OK, I understand that you can buy one for appox $11.99 and can drink as much soda, coffee, etc with it but what I don't get is where you can fill it up. Is this something that I bring into the parks and just walk on over to any soda fountain and fill it up or is complicated?

You can fill it at the resort that you are staying at. The Animal Kingdom sells a separate refillable mug, and refills there cost about $1.00, but your resort mug will not work in the AK.

So the refillable mug can only be used at the resort you are staying at?

That's correct. They can't be used in the parks, either. The water parks sell their own refillable mugs for $10 and is only good for refills for that one day. You can buy a sticker for $5 for a second day and reuse the mug, but you can't use the same mug for more than one day unless you buy a new sticker each day (it's barcoded and you scan the barcode to dispense the soda).
Most of the resorts have a sign like this:

The exception to the park rule is Animal Kingdom, which has it's own refillable mug. As I stated previously though, the refills are not free AND your resort mug will not work there. This refillable mug is in of itself.

I didn't mention that one because you had already done a fine job covering that, and I have no experience with those mugs.:goodvibes

I have a question.....
DH and I and our 4 kids are staying at BC from 8/28 thru 9/6. Would you buy a mug for each or just buy a few and share? We'll be spending time at Stormalong bay and 4 days at the parks. Can you help me justify this expense to DH? Also, we're not renting a car so we are staying onsite the whole time.:confused3
