UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of you know that I have been having problem's with The Grand Floridian Cafe.

Problem one it was scheduled on May 9th and not May 7th

Problem two They never told me I would have to have a fixed menu, decide to tell me that 2 month's before the wedding,I ask if I can pick a few item's to go on the menu beside's sandwiches and salad's when other diser's have told me they were able to choose item's for thier menu I was told no,I flip out and then they say we can order off the regular menu.ok fine

Problem three-I would like to make custom menu's and I have been emailing the woman for like the past 3 week's and I never get any answer's which I think is rude. How hard is it to give a freaking answer.I know that she is getting my email's because last week when I sent one I had an out of office response and she was back in the office last monday...now when I send email's I don't get an out of office response so I know she is getting them.

I said to her I feel like you are ignoring me on purpose and I would like to work with her manager and not her because I'm getting no where with her.I also said i am surprised that somebody who work's for disney would act like this.

I'm sorry but seriously when I was emailing her at first about the menu issues she answered right away soI know she has time to email me back, she just doesn't feel like dealing with me.

The reason why I want the lucnheon there so bad is because I want pictures at the GF. I'm about to just go there for picture's after the ceremony and then eat somewhere at the contemporary. I'm beyond livid at this point. I just want an answer.

That's terrible! I'd cancel too and go there only for pix just to spite them!

Can you talk to someone higher up in the Grand Floridian - maybe someone who's the general resort manager, not related to the restaurant? At the very least, s/he would pass you off to that woman's manager....

You still have plenty of time to switch to one of the Downtown Disney restaurants, though I know that's sooooo far away from the Grand. Let us know what you decide to do! :thumbsup2

Just an FYI, our office email only sends the out of office response to you the first time you send an email. If you send additional emails from the same address, you don't get the OOO response again. Don't know if that is the case or not, but it is a possibility.

Hang in there Lynn, you are almost there !!!

Oh lynn- so sorry what a mess! You should totally go above her, someone needs to set everything straight!
Have you checked to see if anything else is available??

I'm about to call and speak to someone higher up.I really have to at this point. If she doesn't respond to me by the time I get back from work,I'm going to call and speak to somebody else and if they are no help then I will cancel the ADR.

I hate being like this but come on,seriously!

I'm beyond livid at this point.

Lynn5700, if you're this upset about the lunch, I think moving it elsewhere might be best. That way you can put whatever has transpired until this point behind you, and you can start over with a clean slate.

The other folks in this thread have given you some wonderful suggestions. I've eaten at all the restaurants that have been mentioned so far, and I've had a lovely time at each of them.

I hope you can find a restaurant that is perfect for your needs. The next couple of weeks are going to fly by for you. Hang in there!

Yikes - I almost switched our wedding dinner from Narcoossee's to there - glad I didn't. Although, I haven't spoken to anyone at Narcoossee's since November. They told me their menu changes so much that I'd probably talk to somone a month out to set our menu. I think now I might call them tonight to see if we can start that process! You've made me nervous!!! I hope you get your lunch straightened out.

Your planner should be able to find you time to go to the GF for pictures. Heads up though that there is supposed to be some construction on the lobby and staircase in early May. My planner mentioned it to me when I said I wanted pics in there just incase they start early.

Did you go through the restaurant its self or did you go through group dining. try calling the group dining number because then either they can make it for you (And you can choose from the regular menu) or they will give you the number for the manager.

Lynn - I think I know what (or who) your problem is and I think as long as you are dealing with that person you are going to have problems. If you can't switch to dealing with someone else I think I would go with a different restaurant.

I am so sorry that you are having these problems- it is def. something no one needs to have.Hopefully it can be resolved by working with someone else or i would really change locations just because you won't have a good feeling about the whole thing down the line and that will be something you remember in the years to come....best of luck

Kind of related but not really..

Lynn~ DF frequents the other boards and was just sitting here on his comp. He turned his screen around and said "hey, do you know this chic?" And showed me a post....it was you! on the restaurant boards lol.... I was like "Lynn-y!! Of course I know her...she picked my hairstyle!" :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

He said "yeah...i saw something about 'marriage' and just KNEW you had to know her" lmao :lmao:

He said "So she's having trouble with GFC?" I responded with "Oh...you don't even know the half of it" :sad2: lol:rotfl:

That should make you laugh a little  :goodvibes

Awww Lynn, I'm sooo sorry that you are having to deal with this.

If you really want to eat at GF, you might think about considering the Garden View Tea. It's a beautiful place with huge windows, not unlike GFC. They have some amazing sandwiches and deserts there, besides tea. That way you could have something fancy for the pictures, and maybe have a more casual meal later? Just my 2 cents ...

I really hope that whatever you choose works out perfectly for you and that you have the magical day that you & your DF deserve! pixiedust:

Awww honey, I'm really sorry to hear about the problems with GFC and hope you get it sorted. What time was your ADR for - it was 12pm wasn't it? The Gardenview Tea Room opens at 2pm (when GFC closes) which is why we went for GFC. We are hoping to eat there at around 1230 so GVTR wasn't an option.

Is there anywhere in the area that you can get lunch, maybe the Polynesian? You'd get some lovely photo's there too. We want GF for photos which is why we picked to eat lunch there too, but I'm sure you could 'pop in' for photos and then move somewhere else for lunch.

Keep us posted and sending big    . Don't fret, you will get it sorted.

Still no email,I really despise this woman.Tim is calling tomorrow to see what the heck the problem is! I told him to ask to speak to the manager of the GF and to speak with whoever is higher up above this linda woman.

I have heard that she is no help and give's people problem's. I really don't like her and I'm going to have Tim tell whoever he speak's to that if they don't fix the problem that I will tell other bride's about this.I don't want somebody else to have to go through this. It's annoying.

Lynn,
I am not sure what specfic issues you are having problems with, but keep in mind, these restuarants are trying serve thousands of people daily. I know in our planning process, we want to think that we are the only ones coming to Disney and that this is "our day," but in reality they are catering to the needs of thousands daily. As an escape bride, unfortunately, we rank lower than wishes brides or conventions etc... because of the $$. It is what it is. As others have said, if they cannot meet your needs, you may be happier elsewhere. Not all venues can meet everyone's needs, all the time. Quite frankly, I am surprised at the number of restuarants that are able to do the personalized menus and extras for the smaller events. Chin up, something will work out, I am sure ! :grouphug:

Seriously it doesn't need to take 3 weeks to get back to a customer who is going to be spending money at your restaurant.I don't think it has anything to do with being an intimate bride or not, what if we were going to be there for a birthday and I wanted to do a custom menu.I don't think custom brides have thier reception there anyway so it has nothing to do with being an intimate or not. With all other aspect's of my wedding I have never felt like because I'm an intimate bride I get treated different because I'm not a custom bride. My planner is amazing, actually better and more responsive than my custom planner(when I was planning our custom).

It isn't just intimate bride's who have had issues with the GFC,I've found out that this woman has also given people problem's who were just having a private dining and this person did not help at all and had comunication problem's so it has nothing to do with the custom bride's get treated better crap. The problem is this woman can't comunicate with her customer's. and another note on the customized menu's,they do them for any ocasion not just wedding's.

I will let you all know what happen's tomorrow when we call.

Hey Lynn - sorry to hear about your troubles. I just wanted to let you know that before I changed my intimate to a custom we were working with Fulton's - they were amazing & VERY accommodating. They even refunded our non-refunable deposit when we cancelled to change to a custom wedding. I would be glad to send you the menus & other information that I have - just PM me if things don't work out with the GFC

I agree to a certain extent that they are trying to please a large number of people, but it does not take more than a few seconds to respond to an email and give our bride her peace of mind. That is really all anybody wants, that somebody is paying attention and looking into their needs. If she responded and said I am working on it and can let you know tomorrow, then 24 hours worth of fretting can be averted. It is simple customer service, takes very little time, and saves many hurt feelings as well as negative energy.

Good Luck! Things will work out!

Hi Lynn

We had similar problems but it was with O'hanas we wanted to go here for atmosphere etc, but we had a few vegetarians in our party and obviously O'hana's serves majority meat. I kept phoning and e-mailing the manager of O'hanas (My dad was given his business card by him and was told to contact him and he would be able to assist us) and never got a response. I left so many messages on his voicemail and got really fed up waiting. I really felt like changing venues. What I did in the end was contact my co-ordinator and guess what after explaining to her what happened she e-mailed him copying me into it..............and yes he got back to me.

Speak to your co-ordinator they want you to have a perfect day so will help you as much as possible.

Our guests who are vegetarians got their vegetarian meals and we are so glad we stayed with our original choice.

Give your co-ordinator a call or an e-mail.

Good Luck

I agree. I talked to my planner today about a few things. I was worried about not hearing from Narcoossees yet since seeing all of the trouble you've been thru, so I asked her when I should hear something. She said 30 days out is pretty standard, and that if I hadn't heard from them by April 1 I should let her know and she'll contact them for me. OK so I just checked my email and this is what I got from Linda.

I'm so confused. She told me a month ago that I would be able to eat off the regular menu now I have to eat off the limited menu.

Good afternoon Lynn,

I apologize, but I have been out of the office sick. As far as our menus, they have your names and date on the menu. Unfortunately, since January 2008, there have had to make changes in our group dining policy. We can only accommodate groups up to 30 and offer a limited menu and seating times. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

What a bizarre series of events! We are thinking of doing exactly the same thing (photos at GF and then Kona Cafe) if we have to have a fixed menu at the GFC. What do they class as a group - I was told by Disney Dining it was 13 and above?

I really hope you get it sorted :goodvibes

Well I just called disney dining and made an ADR at Kona cafe for 15 people and asked the woman if I had to call groups and she said no she could take care of it so she did.She then gave me the number to Kona cafe so that I could ask if they have a fixed menu and if I could do a customized menu. You know what though,i really like the menu much better. The drink's sound good and kona alway's get's goof review's.

I have to say I'm feeling so much better right now with this decision. Our ADR is at 12:55,rather than 11:55.I think this will give us plenty of time for picture's.I felt like 10-11:55 for the ceremony cake and picture's was going to be too rushed.

I'm feeling much better:dance3:

YAY!!! I'm really so glad it worked out for you!!! :wizard:

Yay Lynn! I'm so happy everything worked out! You could even run (well, walk really) up to Sunset Pointe and have some pictures done there since you'll already be at the Poly
