I learned that trick from a flight attendent that I once dated. It seems to work for me, when I roll, my clothes. She told me that they all do that, since most of them only pack in a small carry on. Hope this helps.

Being in the military and having packed many many seabags, I would suggest rolling, putting socks, etc.. in shoes, and packing toiletries in zip lock baggies. Also when you roll you will be surprised on the amount of room you will have left if you pack it real tight. I typically rolled up everything and stood it up long ways, not flat, that way if you squeezed the items between things it would just get tighter. Hope this helps.

I've never tried rolling but sounds like it might be a good idea, I'll have to try it I've always folded.

I've always folded and have tried...much to my demise...to fit 5 peoples worth of clothes into 1 large suitcase and a small carry-on. I never even thought of rolling, but I will definately remember to do that next time.

I like to minimize the number of bags we carry and leave space for souveniers. I always roll. I can get more in the bag and I think our clothes are less wrinkled when we unpack.

Unless I have a prolonged menopausal moment I'm going to give that a try in Ausust (see how far I have to go to remember to do this???)!

We roll and then, to the extent possible, slide the rolled clothes into ziplock bags. Squishing out all of the air helps make even more room.

I use the bundle method suggested on the one bag type of sites. Seems to help prevent wrinkles and I know I wouldn't have made it into the number of bags we had coming back last week if I had rolled.

I fold and pack my clothes using the Pack-It folding sleeves. I can't recomend them enough!
Everything stays nice and neat in your suitcase, and it makes them easy to unpack when I arrive. I can put the sleeves right in the drawers in the room, and my stuff actually never has to touch anything.
I let my mother borrow them once, and I had to go buy myself more. She refuses to give them back.

I learned about rolling from an old boyfriend in the Navy. It's amazing how much more you can pack and it does help w/ wrinkles.

I always roll!:rotfl: haha I managed to get twice as much stuff into my small carry on as my sister did with her carry on last month when we went to NYC. I suggest giving it a try.

I used to fold and then one time I decided to roll. It is much better and I fit a lot more in my luggage. I actually dont have less wrinkles but as long as I can fit more in my luggage it doesnt matter.

You have to fold when packing for the trip TO Disney. That way, you have room for souvis on the return trip via rolling!

I love my pack-it sleeves! I used them for our 13 day WDW trip and now I'm totally hooked. I tell all my friends about them. Nothing was wrinkled, and it was so easy to pack and unpack, I could find anything I was looking for and didn't have to rummage through my whole bag.

I've never rolled clothes - only folded.
So I had some time this morning to experiment and the suitcase was already in the bedroom since DH is going out of town soon. I tried rolling clothes but it didn't work well. I sure didn't get as many in as I do with folding.
I need to learn the trick - or maybe I'm just not a good roller. :rotfl2:

I love the fact that I can put them right into the dresser drawers at the hotel, and not have to have my stuff touching anything, and if they check your stuff at the airport it's all perfectly neat and organized.

I tried rolling for the first time last November and don't think I'll ever fold again. It was great! I had room to spare and that NEVER happens! :thumbsup2

Here's information on bundle wrapping (I swear it really does take less room than rolling and doesn't wrinkle). http://www.onebag.com/pack.html
We received a basket with Thumper, Bambi and a bunch of treats that was ordered from the disney florists...the white wicker Mickey basket it comes in was huge and I was thinking ok leave it in the room. My niece wanted so badly to take it home. I managed to fit it in our smallest suitcase (we took a small and medium sized suitcase that we checked and I had my camera case and a small carry on for stuff we'd need before our luggage got there on the plane...for 9 days). I bundle wrapped her clothes and fit it in the basket with other small objects around it...she was very impressed. There was a lot of no, don't help me pack, I have to figure it out! that night but I got it all back in.
I bundle wrapped my clothes in our med sized suitcase and the bundle fit under one strap (and we each bought sweatshirts and t-shirts as well).

I actually tried using ziploc bags (2 gallon) and placed my clothes inside and sat on it before I zipped it up, thus removing the air. I really was able to fit a TON more clothes for my trip to disney. My clothes stayed put, if for some crazy reason, something got spilled or opened in my bag, my clothes stayed dry!
I have tried the rolling thing as well.
Not quite sure about the bundling thing.

What are pack it sleeves?
These are pack-it sleeves (http://www.ebags.com/eagle_creek/pack_it_reg_folder_15/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=5356modelid=5356). I use them for all my t-shirts and shorts. I also love Eagle Creek's packing cubes for my socks and undergarments. I bought mine as a package awhile back. It came with the 15" sleeve, an 18" sleeve, a packing cube and a waterproof pouch. I definitely prefer the smaller sleeve.
You can get good deals on them when they discontinue colors.

I originally got them to not have to worry about bag check rummaging, but they were so helpful with keeping me organized. I never take things out of my bags because I don't trust the cleanliness of drawers ever since my daughter found a drawer full of dirty underwear in a hotel in Washington, D.C. I knew what was in each pack and never had to look for a thing. I also have the packing cubes and used those for socks, underwear, etc. If U Had Wings, what do you do with your shoes? Do you put them in a cube, or leave them out? I've been thinking of getting some shoe sacks, but I'm not sure yet.

We have went to the travel space bags for the last 4 trips and couldn't be happier. The only thing hard getting used to is thinking you forgot to pack somethings, since the clothes pile usually packed got alot smaller and there's room left in the suitcase. Wife and I use rolling duffles, legal size and put most of our items in the space bags, larger, bulkier items are rolled to fit in the sides with pants just laid flat on the bottom. Makes for a well rounded package but the space bags remove alot of volume air normally in the bag and makes the wife pack more but the bags then goes over weight. We now list our items for length of stay and no matter how much room is left in the bag, we add no more clothes. We make a list going and coming back, what actually got worn and don't repeat those items that didn't get used, and we do weight the bags before leaving home. You would be surprised at the amount of things that don't get used that you toted with you, we try to go as light as possible, 1 rolling duffle and 1 small carry on each, for 10-12 days and each is responsible for toting their own, and no laungry doing while on vacation, our cardinal rule. It's turned into a science but we're happy with the outcome.

I usually just pack my shoes in large ziplock bags. Then the bags can do double duty when I go to the parks and want to protect things from rides like Kali River Falls or Splash Mountain.
I too love the space saver bags. I started using them my last trip for all the dirty stuff I was bringing home. I found some inexpensive ones on the clearance shelves at Target. Worked wonderfully!
