I saw on another board where someone claimed that FW was getting a new pool. I hadn't heard that, but I never know what's going on until 2 months after it's already happened. Can anyone confirm or deny that rumor -- or better yet make up a more interesting rumor?

They're putting in a new pool complex where river country currently stands. There are plans for a food court type eating establishment and a pool with slides an hot tubs. Construction is expected to start by summer with the grand opening early spring next year.

Oh, I didn't see that "make up a good rumour" part....lol
In that case, I heard that they're turning River Country into a large beer fountain.

that's not a rumor, that's a dream come true. big difference. I can pool hop to my rumor pool @ WL, but can't find the big beer fountain.

Oh, and ntsammy, to be serious for a second ;)
There have been rumors about a new pool at the Fort for years now. They have picked up intensity in the last couple years, but still nothing official has ever come from Disney. I remember last summer, there were quite a few people posting on this forum that cast members were telling them there would be a new pool in place before the end of LAST summer.
Edit: Looks like the rumor came true, thanks for the link Mash!
MousePlanet is reporting that Disney made an announcement last week about Ft. Wilderness upgrades, to include a rehab of the pool. Here's the link to their article:

The article is about halfway down the page.

when we were there in JAn. 08 the guy who picks up the trash, told us there was to be a multimillion $ revamp & adding 12 loops. to be completed in 3-5 years.

Well I guess the rumour finally did pay off...lol, thanks for the link!
From that article...
The main pool will see the addition of a themed water slide, a hot tub and a children's web play area. The pool's deep end has also been made shallower.
Can't wait to see how they theme the water slide, I hope it's a huge one. Looks like Reilly is going to enjoy what his dad never did in that pool...lol

And possibly things his dad DID do in the pool. (Look out for the yellow streams!)

Rog - the closest you'll get on WDW property are the Buffalo Chicken Strips at ESPN - and they're not that good. They used to serve pretty "worthy wings" at Crockett's, but they stopped that about 2-3 years ago. (boo, hiss).
Other than that, you need to go to Ale House or Hooters for good wings. At Hooters, ask for the "naked" wings. I personally like their regular breaded wings, but in true Buffalo style - get the naked ones.
BTW: How YOU doin'?;)

The trash guys get their info from the otters.
people say the bus driver
Pete - Trash guys trump bus drivers. Otters trump peacocks! :thumbsup2

I've never had much problem with the Crocketts wings (they serve the same ones at the Outer Rim at the Contemporary). They aren't the best wings ever, but honestly, I've normally had a few drinks in me at that point, and they taste good ;)
Personally, my favorite appetizer is the loaded nachos. I think we have that at least once a trip when we're at the Fort. They're messy, but man they go well with a rum and coke or a beer!
Ok, now I'm starving...lol

Frank & Theresa's Anchor Bar -- home of the Chicken Wing. My armory was 1/2 a mile from there and we went frequently. Actually it's only about 3 miles from where I work -- but you can't get them at WDW. Oh well.
I agree with Ale House though.
I love the way these threads meander.

I spent many nights at the Anchor Bar indulging in the wings.

Me too. That probably explains the extra 20 pounds I'm carrying around!
I can't hijack my own thread can I?

Yea, Ale Houses have good wings, but the best are there zingers. Man do I love Ale House zingers, soooooooooooo goooooooooooooood.
Or if you really want to scare whomever you're travelling with, order the chicken nachos. When they see that massive plate of chicken/nachos/cheese/jalapenos/sour cream and whatever else they put on those things, they'll probably fall out of their seat. It's the size of a small tire...lol

we really like the wings from Gators Dockside. there are several locations in the Fla area. the wings come in tons of different flavors, and yes traditional for the die hard wing fans. i dig the grilled lemon pepper and the Teriyaki. my son is a die hard and needs his wings naked, baked with the traditional sauce.
we always grab some, swing by the Kwik-e-Mart for some grown up beverages for DH and I and then hunker down at the tables by the dock for the boat parade.

Has anyone ever tried the wings at the ESPN Bar at the Boardwalk?

You mean the "Red Wings" they serve there? I had them a couple years ago, I remember they were pretty good, nothing spectacular, but they did the job :)

DS had them a year ago and he liked them.

I would try ESPN on the Boardwalk, walking distance from Epcot (int'l entrance). Check the menu at allearsnet.com click on "dining" then "menus"
We had the best, biggest, and cheapest meal of our trip here and is where I'd start.
