I made a big boo boo last night, but in the end it's all good. Yesterday I woke up depressed. Nothing in particular was bothering me, I was just down in the dumps (blame it on those dam feminine issues I suppose).I knew my fiancé was working late, so after work I headed to the gym to do my C25K and then to the grocery store to grab something quick for dinner for myself. Since I was still depressed I went into the store with the idea of allowing myself one treat. My treat was a dozen (that is the smallest they come in) of these 180-calories-each cookies. Then I headed down frozen foods for dinner and I came across this ice cream that looked good. It was only 120 cal a serving, so it was a good everyday treat. I proceeded to get home and eat 660 calories of the ice cream (and then throw it out) and then 990 calories of cookies!:scared1: and then throw them out. That brought my calories of the day to 2075 (luckily I hadn't been hungry most of the day and had just had a salad for lunch!) My daily calorie range is 1600-2000 (depending on my exercise for the day), so I should have only eaten 1800 calories, but all in all not so bad. I did not have dinner and after all that fat, I wasn't hungry. I was so lucky my fiancé wasn't home or I would have eaten dinner as well just because we have dinner together, not because I was hungry.

I know how you feel. The kids talked me into KFC last night. I burned about 900 calories on the treadmill, but I still feel so mad at myself. That's a mistake I won't make again for a long time.

Been there. Done that. Many a times. :lmao: Hang in there Raenstoirm. It's a new day. Have a good week.

Also, I've found since I've made no food bad or off limits in my life I haven't done this in quite awhile. I always try to eat only what I love - healthy or unhealthy. But of course I have no idea what your thinking is on this issue. Or if it has any relevance to your day. Just sharing.

i agree it's not a big deal, most of us have been there at some point. I have a bit of a rule that nothing is 'not allowed' and if i want something i'll have it and enjoy it then no guilty feelings just satisfied ones hopefully. There's no point in having it then feeling bad *** it just makes you feel rubbish and then eat more! Enjoy a bit of what you like more often to reduce cravings (IMO:rotfl: )

Keep your chin up! Two steps forward, two steps back still makes for progress!

My suggestion: dont treat yourself with food/snacks!! Break that habit and start treaing yourself to something better for your body: flowers, mani/pedi, massage, Disney Dollars!! ;) Anything but food!

It happens to just about everyone, so you shouldn't feel bad. Just keep going! That's the important thing.

I try not to buy big packages of treats, because I KNOW I'll have trouble stopping. If a treat comes only in a big package, I'll divide it into little bagges and then stick the rest in the office closet, away from the kitchen. For ice cream, I have a special system -- I put it in a locked plastic box in the freezer, and give DH the key! :rotfl:

I'm impressed that you were able to throw some treats out!

Don't beat up yourself. Move forward and do your best to make healthy choices. If you make one not as healthy, try to make it a bit smaller next time. When you do that you can be proud of that step.

I too am amazed and proud of you that you threw out the rest. Wow!

I'm also liking the suggestion of a non-food reward. Think on that. It sounds better.

I've been using SP to log my food. When I get to a snack I log in what I want before I eat it then look at the damage, remove the bad choice and either give up the snack, or make a different choice.

Good luck, keep on keepin' on.

I am awesome with throwing out. That is not my issue at all. My problem as you can see it that I don't throw it out fast enough!
I throw out all "treat" food. If I buy something high in calories, I allow myself a specific number of calories (not amount of item) and when I have reached that, be it a few days (or sometimes a few minutes ;) ) it goes in the trash. The way I see it, either it goes on my butt or in the trash. Either way, it is a waste and has no real value. This problem usually only happens with ice cream (the cookie fiasco was a rare thing). I have found that buying a container of turkey hill or Edey's ice cream is actually cheaper than buying a pint of Haagen-Daaz or Ben and Jerry's and tend to be lower in calories per serving.
