Good Tuesday Morning I hope it is a losing one for you. I have so many things on my mind to do today that weighing in was the least thing on my mind.

Don't forget the following from Brenda (dare2dream)
Please report your weight using the number of pounds ie xxx pounds
If you would like to add your change for the week that is OK ie I lost 2 pounds. Remember weights can be reported in 1/10 of pound increments ie xxx.x pounds.

Please report by midnight Tuesday
If you are late report as soon as you remember. I know sometimes RL (real life) is more important.

Please PM or email your weekly report to Brenda (dare2dream) I am not much of a contributor on our weekly thread but I do read every post. I think Tuesdays are great when everyone checks in to report their weekly progress. It helps to keep us all accountable and it's fun to share your success. Last week I noticed several reports from people I never got a PM or email from. I went through the entire thread and checked. 8 people reported their progress here but never reported to me.

Now folks, help out a weight keeper here please!! Please report your weekly weight to Brenda by PM or email to brenda@kbelectric.biz. Remember to report by midnight Tuesday and remember to report in pounds ie xxx pounds (not just I lost x pounds). PrettyPlease!!

Have a magical losing day

Good morning everyone! I'm down 1/2 pound which puts me back to where I was a number of weeks ago before my gains.

This journey has been slower than I would have liked but that is due to my own (lack of) willpower when it comes to snacks etc. Still I have gained so much from this. For one thing I have been doing regular exercise since the first of the year. Something I never really got into before. For that I am totally happy and feeling great. Now to work on that will power! :)

Congrats to all the losers this week. To those who have gained or maintained congrats on staying with the program and checking in. You can do it!

Well I think I'm a long way from that coveted clippie :rotfl: but I did at least break through my maintaining and lost 1 pound. Every little bit helps and as long as we keep going we will get there. Hope everyone has a great day and Congratulations to all the losers - and if you gained or maintained....don't give up :)

I was just looking back over the last 11 weeks and I realized what has happened the last 2 weeks for me. I have not been writing down or really counting my points....I've been doing it all in my head and we all know what happens when you do that :rotfl: So for the next week (and hopefully longer - but I'll start with 1 week) I will write down what I am eating and the points value BEFORE I take a single bite. It should be interesting to see the result next Tuesday morning. And I'm giving myself a goal of being under 200 by May 13th. It will be tough and I will definitely have to be strict - but I have gotten way to relaxed and I need to kick it up a notch. I know I can do it.

i am a maintainer...which i'm thrilled about after a week and a half of stress-eating. i gotta stop that, i probably would've lost 3 lb had I not over the past two weeks! urgh!

CYBER HIGH FIVE to our losers!!

to my fellow maintainers - let's follow WDWorBust and kick it up a notch this week - get geared up and ready to face Easter and all it's chocolate :teeth:

if there are any gainers ((HUGS)) and remember you can do this!! day be day, journal, exercise, you know what to do and every day counts!

(that pep talk is for me too! ::yes::)

This is me exactly too. I have been partly doing ww, and partly eating whatever I want, but since Jan 1, I have done a watp video at least 5 days/week, and 6 days for the past month at least. The past few weekends, I have done an hour video, and then eaten even more. I feel really good about the exercise, and plan to make that a permanent part of my life too.

I am up 1.2 pounds this week, but know exactly why, and if I wasn't exercising, I know it would have been way more. I picked up a little journal and am going to commit (again) to journalling every bite I take, and also thought I might add some feelings and thoughts at the time, to see if that will help me get on a better eating track.

Congratulations to all our losers here!!!:cool1: And if you've gained or maintained, don't give up and you will see that loss soon. :grouphug: We all can do this!:cheer2:

Have a great day everyone!!

Hi everyone. Well, on the scale front, I have some yucky news. I weighed in yesterday and I was up 3#. Oh yeah, I am not surprised with what I was eating. But that is soooo all in the past for me!

I am so excited you guys, I posted about it on the "I am SO proud of myself thread", but I will tell you guys about it here. Last night I had my first Tae Kwon Do testing, and I tested for my yellow belt. It was an absolutely amazing experience. I earned some pride in myself yesterday. I haven't had that in a very, very, very long time. I can't even put it into words. breaking my first board, doing the techniques, doing a great form, and doing the push up position (albeit modified for me but stil doing it) for 2 minutes, it's just a WOW, I DID IT!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2 It lit a spark in me, and an urge to improve myself and really kick some Tae Kwon Do but!!!!

It is 3 months until the next testing. I am making a contract with myself, you guys and my master instructor that I will loose 25# before the next testing. It will be a blind weight loss, in that I mean I will not step on the scale until testing day. I play too many mind games and I just need to have some faith in myself and I know I can do it. It feels so good to have that "spark" back! In fact, I am going to the gym today!:cheer2:

Congrats to all of the losers, and hang in there maintainers and gainers. We can all do it! I know we can!:flower3:

I finally made it. I am down exactly 10 lbs since January! :cool1: It is only .4 this week, but given that it is a "feminine" week, I think that is excellent. I am hoping the bloating is messing with the number and I am really lower than that. Ah well, we shall see next Monday when I weigh in again.

Congrats Vija, keep it up.

I have had a very bad week. I am up 3lbs. I have got to get back to being good. I sent all the goodies back to college with the boys so I am determined to get better at this.

Congrats to all you losers you are what keeps the rest of us going.

I just went back and read week 11. Thanks guys for all the support, made me kind of teary as I sit here at my desk. I was very good yesterday- went to the gym and then did an hour or so of house work. So no extra eating here. Just one day at a time.

Have a great tuesday. I am going to be on the loser list next week!!!!!

As stressful as my week was i guess i didnt eat as bad as i thought. Im down 3.1 pounds. I also am retaining alot of water today because my fingers feel really fat and stiff. Shouldnt have put salt in dinner last night i guess the cheese also had salt. I dont normally eat any salt that isnt natural. I know, I know i should because you can get sick but i just dont like the taste of it except on chips. I dont even like it on pretzels or fries. As im typing this i just realized i didnt drink enough water yesterday either. So next weeks weight in should be water plus weight. I am going to try to exercise every day this week. I dont do it on a regular basis and with the temps warming up i need to get in fishing shape. Its hard to bring in the big fish when your stiff and unhealthly. I just found out this morning that my fishing trip i had planned for next week is being moved to the following week or so becuase of the weather.:confused3 Well off to drink my coffee and get to work. This week work wise has been great.

Amanda

ps for the maintainer and gainers dont give up as someone(im really bad with names) said last week. I did last time and gained everything i lost plus. This is a lifetime change and doesnt have a deadline.

I'm down 1.2. Very happy with that. Hang in there everyone. We are all still here. For me, that's huge. As I'm sure it for many.

I'm getting a little emotional about the ending of BL. One part of me can't wait to lessen my time on the scale. And the other part thinks that I need all of this wonderful support. Such a pull both ways.

Have a good day everyone,

I am down 4.8. That is the biggest weekly loss in maybe 9-10 months for me. I had to check it several times, lol. But it read that yesterday too, when I briefly peeked. I knew I was down by the way my clothes were fitting (or should I say, not fitting, dress pants that I only wear every other month were sliding off). I suspect it will even out a bit next week as TOM is due then and the kids are off for spring break, but overall I'm sure I've finally punched through a platue barrier. And it is lovely spring weather that makes it nicer to walk, I've finished my big landscaping project so have a bit more time. I really really want to do 10 more pounds by my son's graduation in June. Well, I wish I could be 50 pounds lighter by then, but I have a good chance of doing the first 10.

I stayed the same this week! I guess I am okay with that since it isn't a gain. I think where I went wrong was eating broccoli the last couple of days. They say that makes you retain water. I will have to be more concious of that and see if it does make a difference. My WW weigh-in is tomorrow and I hope to have atleat a little loss there!

Good luck to everyone on a new week! Congratulations to all of you who lost this week!

Hello everyone,

Well I am a little down. I weighed myself this morning and I am up 1 whole pound this week. I can't explain this at all. I really watch what I eat. I do not write it down, but maybe that is the answer. Write it down. I feel like I am exercising enough.

We have all talked about other things that are measured, not on the scale, and I do see losses in my legs and my body shape is changed/changing.

I will keep up and stay with the game. Like was mentioned on a earlier post today, I am so happy with all the encouragement and this board; not really looking forward to the end of the Biggest Loser Challenge.

Congratulations to those that lost, and the others of us, well we just need to

"keep on keeping on".

I was up this week. I kind of expected to be up some because we had the vacation two weeks ago, then I was sick, so I just haven't gotten back into the groove.

I ended up working late today so I didn't get to the gym. I did walk for a few minutes outside when I got home, but it wasn't much to speak of.

I have got to get back into the groove!

I was wondering if anyone needs a new buddy? I haven't heard from my buddy in a LONG time. I really feel like the extra support would help me get and stay back on track. :yay:

Gonna go actually post what I ate on my journal. I haven't done that in awhile :rolleyes1

Congratulations to all of us for still being here!! Lose, Gain, or Maintain we are all better for not giving up!! :cheer2:

My buddy I think has pretty much dropped out of the challenge and is super busy so I would LOVE a new buddy if you'll have me :)

Okay - I just have to vent a little. I weigh every Tuesday morning at home and I feel very confident in my scale. I "trust" my scale. I know that at weight watchers they move them in and out and they will be a little bit "off" - but tonight at my meeting it showed I GAINED .8 of a pound. I LOST a pound at home. I know my weight isn't the same by the loss usually is really close. The sad thing is that I KNOW I didn't gain - but I am still totally PISSED off. I don't like there being a gain in my little book. Okay - so it's done - I KNOW I lost a pound and that's that. It's over right?

Foxfiregrrl

Great! I PM'd you back. Thanks!

Keep your head up! I know that is discouraging, but the loss will show up at WW next week I bet! I hate how finicky the scale can be sometimes :confused3

Just keep working hard and it will all show up in the end:cheer2:

Good evening all! I am down 1 this week. Not bad considering I haven't been tracking very well the last two weeks. It's been a little hectic around here so I'm working on doing it in my head until they slow down and I can get to the computer more after company leaves next week.

Vija - Congrats on your new belt! That is so awesome. Good luck on your next goal.

Some great losses reported so far! Way to go you guys.

For the gainers and maintainers...I think that lynnielou is right...Keep on keepin' on! You'll get there in the end and that is what matters most.

Congrats to all of the greats successes during the first 2/3 of the challenge. Some great numbers up there!!

Something told me I needed to come back here. I have not reported my weight since the start of February when I was at my lowest weight since I do not know when. The next morning my weight was up 4 pounds from that and it has gotten worse and I am back to my starting weight for this challenge of 185 pounds.:headache: :guilty: I feel like the horse kicked me off and then trampled on me.

It does not help that I have basically been working 7 days a week since that day, plus taking two classes for my master's degree, life just got in the way. I have been up and down this 10 pounds over and over again. I am stuck in a rut and just when I think I am out of it, it rears its ugly head.

If I would just drink water, stay away from the junk snacks and exercise I know this weight would come off. Can I consistently do all three of those things, apparently not a chance. I have in the past and I have kept 60 pounds off, but I would like to lose another 30 - 40 pounds and it is not happening.

Have a great week everyone.:flower3:

Welcome back MercoBear. Did you go to WDW or somewhere else? Good time?

I just got home as well. But have had the flu since. I fell asleep twice on the ride home and never do that. It's always a sign of something. Fatigue always hits me hard a day or two before a cold or flu. Always. But it seems to still surprise me every time. :confused3 Denial, I guess.

I cant believe i made the top 10. I think i'm really starting to change my life. Yesterday i forgot my lunch. Instead of going to get something fast i waited until i got home from work and the grocery store and had a snack while i was fixing chicken tacos. Did anyone know they have a strawberry jam with just 10 calories? 1 slice of bread with peanut butter and my new best friend.

Becky, i also had to come back to eating right. At one point i was almost back to my starting weight before i just decided that i couldnt take feeling bad anymore and had to do this for myself. I have not only lost what i gained but i've lost even more. Yesterday i realized i have lost 50 lbs since July. It didnt even hit me until i was out cold calling and went wow.

Well i need to get moving today. I think i'm getting a cold but need to get out in the field.

Have a great Wednesday Everyone.

Wow!! Congratulations everyone!! I just have to share some happy news with everyone. After being so ticked last night that WW showed me up .8 of a pound I got up this morning and didn't have any clean jeans (or so I thought). So I went to the closet and lo and behold there were jeans that I knew fit me and a pair that I bought a YEAR ago because I had planned on losing weight and they were on sale cheap that I tried on maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago that I could get on but didn't really fit. So I thought what the heck and slid them on and they fit good!! And since I have only lost maybe 3 pounds in the last 4 weeks the exercise I finally started the past week must be helping!! One family tradition is making potato salad at the holidays.

It's a pennsylvania dutch potato salad that my mom used to make and is now my forte'. I even have a special bowl that it gets served in.

One other tradition is ham at Easter. Unfortuantely for me, most years Easter falls during Passover. DH is jewish so I don't feel right making ham during Passover. At least my potato salad is kosher for Passover This year Passover is next month so I get to make my glazed ham (another recipe handed down from mom) :cool1:

I'm still on last week's challenge. Here are the results of my quiz from last week. Don't forget to send your points for last week to PRINCESS VIJA

Your Personality Type: INSPIRATIONAL
You're the type who catalyzes other people into action. You know how to say all the right things, which is why people gravitate toward you, tell you their problems, and look to you for inspiration. You're creative and are concerned about achieving personal growth.

Your Exercise Rx:
Dual-purpose exercise. To you, working out is engaging only when it's about more than just your body. You are more apt to enjoy it if it's about being part of a community or about exploring your inner self. To enhance your spiritual side, try listening to music to set the mood for a peaceful workout.

Best Choices

Softball
Volleyball
Soccer
Dance classes
Water aerobics
Martial arts
Trail running
Swimming
Tai chi

Leisure Activities
Your first priority is to work regular exercise into your week. But also think about using your leisure time to burn off a few extra calories. Here are some extracurricular activities for your personality type:

nature walks
yoga

Obstacles
Different personalities don't just take to different activities; they have to contend with different obstacles too. Here's what you might find in your path, as well as ways to get around it:
Because you may often engage in activities that involve instructors or coaches, you run the risk of being turned off by corrections or criticism aimed at you--or anyone else in your group.
Solution: Remind yourself that the teacher or coach is only trying to help you; if that doesn't work, look for a class or team that focuses more on teamwork or a teacher or coach whose style you prefer.

I want to take a minute and thank dare2dream specifically for "crunching the numbers" for us. It is nice to see the facts on the thread of the progress we have made. It is nice to see my name on the list. I need to work harder to stay in the game and I really want to be in the top 10 at the end.

Again, thanks and I appreciate all of you. If you are coming back, good to have you back and pick yourself up and get back with the program. Like it has been said before, "we are all winners for being here".

I LOVE the challenge this week! I told my mom about it and she was quite impressed. She is the QUEEN of doing for others...

My holiday tradition is from my childhood, not now. Every Christmas, we would get up, and come downstairs, and we could open our stockings before breakfast. After a quick and simple breakfast, it was on to the presents. We always went one at a time, so everyone could see what everyone else got.

After presents, we got dressed, and went to my grandparents' house for Christmas brunch. (they lived in the same town). The menu was always the same. Bloody Marys for the adults, Coke for the kids, and then for the meal (it makes my mouth water just thinking about it!)--loaves of sausage bought from the Italian butcher down town, scrambled eggs cooked in the grease from the sausage (in a cast iron skillet, no less!), homemade sticky buns and crescent rolls (my grandmother was an awesome baker), and fresh squeezed OJ.

Today, I still let the kids open their stockings before breakfast, but not their presents. Now, my parents come for dinner here, and my brother comes too. I sure miss those days with Grandpa passing out the presents. But now my Dad does it, since he's Grandpa!

Thank you, thank you Brenda for all your calculating and figuring. It must take so much of your time and I hope you know how much you are appreciated. It is so much fun and motivating to come and see your figures and call outs. It is amazing how much everyone has lost together too.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend, and a happy Easter if you celebrate. I want to find a nice low cal dessert to bring for easter dinner.

Well lets see, my family has tons of traditions. My favorite is a Christmas one. Despite having a large extended family, everyone opens each present separately. Opening takes 6-8 hours! :scared1: Each person gives out their own gifts, but we make sure they are arranged in a big attractive pile first. If someone messes up, my cousin, aka the Christmas Nazi (yes we actually call her that) *****es the person out for breaking tradition.

Since it is Easter this week, we are heading up to visit my future grandmother in law. I can just stop in to see the other old ladies while we are there. They always love company!

Hey ladies.... I only have 3 people who have sent in their points from last weeks challenge.... Need the points!!!!

As far as traditions go....

My favorite Easter tradition is the cracking of the eggs.....

Each person takes a hard boiled egg and you pair up. You hit each others egg and the person who's egg cracked is out and the one who's egg is still intact moves on. You keep doing this until you only have one intact egg remaining. The winner gets.... bragging rights for their uncracked egg!:rotfl:

It is a fun tradition and some years family members have played tricks.... one year there was a ceramic egg cleverly used without anyone else knowing it wasn't a real egg, and another year there was a rubber egg used.... needless to say that person won by default!:lmao:

Tonight I was thinking about you as I spooned in kind of dry, not so interesting store bought potato salad. I thought, "drat that Kimberly....I'm sure she's soon to be enjoying the wonderful "heartmade" potato, what was it - oh yeah Pennsylvania Dutch secret recipe, yummy salad.

Hello everyone,

I love reading about the family traditions during the holidays. We have had some and will continue to carry them out in small ways.

DD Abby (24) will be home this weekend as it is Easter and well tomorrow is DH's B-day. Abby loves Cadbury eggs so I had to go get her a 4-pack from the drugstore this afternoon. I may pull together a small basket that she and DH can share as I also got a chocolate bunny, some peeps and reese pieces to throw in there. I will not be doing any candy. I really do not even have a craving for chocolate and want to definitely be a loser next week at weigh-in.

For DH, tomorrow being his b-day I hpe to take all of us out for dinner and I did bake a chocolate care for him.

Have a blessed Easter weekend everyone.

I should also mention that DD purchased a new car this week and she wants to show it off. A big step for a 24-year-old and an exciting time for her.!

Hear Ye, Hear Ye, the Weight Keeper speaks

Sorry this is later than usual. I am starting to burn out, the numbers get blurry and I can not focus. The numbers this week were perplexing so I just let things sit today and looked again this evening. I did hear from two ladies today and I am grateful for that. The numbers are not our best so let's see what's going on.

We started the week with 45 participants. 7 folks have not checked in for three weeks and have been dropped from the challenge. Of course they will be welcomed with open arms if they decide to make a report to me in the future. We have a returnie this week that I am happy to see.

We are now at 39 current participants. 12 people did not check in for the week. 4 of them have missed 2 weeks and 8 have missed one week.

27 participants weighed in this week. We had 8 gains for 20 pounds, 6 maintains, and 13 losses totaling 18.3 pounds for a weekly cumulative NET GAIN of 1.7 pounds. Yes a NET GAIN this week. Our dropped members took 55 pounds from our cumulative loss (we lost some real losers this week) which leaves us with a cumulative loss of 380 pounds.

10 out of our 13 losers are superstars this week. If this wasn't your week please keep on working hard, your week may be coming. Let's see who shined this week.

(drum roll and fanfare please)

Congratulations Becky!!! Your hard work is paying off. Keep it up.

Congratulations to all weekly our superstars. I am so glad we are in this together. Congratulations to our faithful that are still hanging in there. We are committed for the long haul. I can not begin to tell you how proud I am of you that you are still along on this wild ride.

After the small numbers this week I wonder why I am doing this and then I remember. You are all superstars to me. I have a long way to go on my weight loss journey and you all inspire me with each .1 pound that you lose. I know those pounds do not come off by themselves, I know it is a struggle every single day.

So how was your week? Once again my name is not on the list and I know why. Next week is a holiday for some of us. Do you have your game plan formulated? Fortunately DH does not want a big Easter dinner. He has found some wild diet on the internet that he wants to start on Monday. WE will work on this together. Who knows? It may actually work for us. I think it will help me to have a list everyday of what I should eat.

What is working for you? What is not working? What do you need to do differently to develop a healthy lifestyle? Every effort is worth it, every sacrifice will pay off in the end. Slow and steady will win this race and we are doing great losers.

Have a healthy day!

Bredna - a great big thank you to you and all the leaders of this group for all you do! It is sad to see so many people sign up and then just drop out but sometimes life gets in the way and you need to do what you need to do.

I have only been on the top ten list once but I have totally enjoyed this experience and I think it has helped me in my weight loss goals. I haven't put up big numbers and just when I've lost some I've gained it back. Yet with the challenges in place I've been consistant with my exercise and have pushed myself further than I would have thought. I'm feeling better, my clothes are fitting better and I'm happier overall. So thank you!

I know where my downfalls are and I'm working on them. I'm very very close to cracking into the 190's and I'm looking forward to leaving that 2 behind! I'm not going to be as thin on my April cruise as I had hoped by thinner than I would have been if I hadn't signed up!

Congrats to everyone who has stayed with it through the whole process. I couldn't have done it without all of you!

BTW - a great big congrats to my September cruise buddy Amanda!

Sorry to be posting so late this week folks. I weighed in on Monday and forgot to pm my small loss to Brenda and then realized yesterday I had not done so. I did but again am still late. It seems as though I woke up Monday and did not stop until early this AM. Today is my "Friday" meaning I usually work a 4 day week and have Friday through Sunday off. I did so much this week and still have so much left to do:rotfl: :confused3 ! Today does not look any better, DD did not get into her top choice for schools. It was weird she got into a school that required an interview, which she did not do, and is out of her league although a great school?:confused3 So today we are off to University of Hartford, which they say is a good school??? She got accepted and a ton of money, I am unsure of the school or the neighborhood?? I have heard mixed results. Anyhow I will walk from the furtherest lot in order to help my horrid eating patterns and junk food from the last 3 days! Have a great week, we CAN do it!:cheer2:

Congrats, Becky! And to all of the other Superstars.

Brenda - I really appreciate all of the work you do for the challenge. I have found the challenge to be very good for me this year and I am so happy that I found it. I know that I was starting to lose some motivation late last week, but when you posted the 2/3 list, that really gave me a boost. Seeing the numbers all together was really helpful.

As for me, I've gotten a little lax the last week or so. My exercise is down and I really want to work on that. We have company through Sunday (7 extra people to be exact) so my tracking is out the window, though I'm trying to eat decently. I did have a splurge for my first Ted Drewes frozen custard of the season yesterday. But, I countered it with better eating througout the day. I found success in that spurge though...From the time I was about 10 or 12, I wanted to order a regular size (medium about a 10oz cup). In the last 5-10 years, I'd been known to order a large (about a 20oz cup) I have no idea on the calorie/fat content on that, but can't even imagine. Yesterday I ordered the mini (about 4-5oz) and walked away more than satisfied! I got my favorite treat, I enjoyed every bite of it and I didn't walk away sick and over gorged. I walked away happy.

Today we're headed to the zoo and I'm glad as that extra movement will do me well. Now, if only I could figure out how to get more sleep while they are here. It's a good week for that not to be on the challenge. :lmao: Playing cards/games until midnight does not bode well for a full night's sleep. (Of course, everyone else is still asleep, so they'll do fine. ;) I actually volunteered to get up first as DSis is dropping off her baby soon.)

I also have a resolution to get busy on the challenge next week! I'm going to try for this one, but I'm not sure how much of it I can do in the short time after everyone leaves. Next week though I'm going to bust it out and get myself focused on all pieces of the challenge again.

Have a good Easter weekend everyone.

Good Morning everyone.

Congrats to all the winners this week. We can do it. Towards the end everyone has some bad weeks but we only have 3 1/2 weeks to go. Let's get busy.

Michelle, I am sorry to hear that your daughter did not get into her top choice. That is always very hard. Good luck with making this very difficult decision.

Have a magicl losing day everyone. We can do this.

We haven't had a Question of the Day in awhile, so I thought I would pose my own (hope I am not steping on any toes).

What have you noticed that you do automatically now that you have change your way of eating/thinking about eating?

For me the biggest thing is how slowly I eat treats now. I don't feel the need to gobble them down. I bought 4 boxes of Girl Scout cookies about 2 weeks ago and still have 1 1/2 box of Thin Mints (out of 2), 1/2 box of the short bread (out of 1) and 1/3 of the Tagalongs (out of 1). Before these would have been long gone by now. In fact up until the night before last it had been a week since I had even 1 cookie. I bought 2 4-packs of Frappacino bottles (on sale w/ a coupon no less) and I have only had 1 bottle (of which I spilled 1/3 of). The others are sitting in the fridge just waiting for me.

I also walk more. I will not automatically get a shopping cart to "hold me up" when I am shopping.

So what about you?

And remind DD that sometimes things happen for a reason. Perhaps the reason she did not get into her first choice is so that she would look at the other doors that are open to her.

Great QOTD christa. I also eat treats slowly, where before the whole cookie would have been popped into my mouth, now I nibble. Also I find that I start estimating how what I eat is going to fit in to my day and if it is worth eating at all.

Good evening.

I am also sorry Vija, for not reporting for the challenge this week. I do appreciate all your free time you donate to us to help keep us going, but last week was pretty busy, and I didn't keep track of the challenge. This week I will be better.

Congratulations to the top ten!!!! :thumbsup2 and a big thumbs up to my buddy gretchen!! You are all doing awesome!!!

On to this weeks challenge, and holiday traditions. On easter, we always have an easter egg hunt, and when we were kids our grandmother always brings the foil wrapped chocolate eggs that they would hide after dinner, and we all would search. One of the last easter's she was able to do that since she had dementia, she brought the red and white round peppermint candies instead of the chocolate eggs. It was pretty funny. Now my mother (our kids grammy) buys the eggs, and we hide them for our kids. It has to be the foil wrapped chocolate ones.

Hope everyone has a good plan for easter, and you all have a wonderful holiday. I'm off to find a low cal dessert recipe.

Good night.

I was on a cruise last week with a stop at WDW on the way down and back. I have a sensitive stomach and was really worried about eating down there, but I didn't have any problems until we were coming home and stopped at Perkins.

Also, I tried Yoga and Spinning while I was gone. Yoga was nice and relaxing, but I don't know if I could stick with it. Spinning was intense - you could literally see the sweat dripping down off of everyone there!

Lisa i agree with you. I am also lazy when it comes to the challenges. I think every week i will commit to them but then forget they exist until after i see the the reminder to send in the points.

I also love the commitment of those who manage this thread. I dont know if i would still be on the top 10 if it wasnt for this thread. I probably would have stopped when i was having the bad time and was gaining. Thank you everyone for your support.

This weeks challenge: Our family :sad2: . We used to have so many and we always said dont mess with tradition but i'm not sure we do any of them anymore.

The only one that still sticks is we always go to mom and dad for christmas evening to play games and christmas morning for breakfast and presents.

Family traditions- most are holiday related.
Christmas- boys pick out tree and of course mom decorates, dinner/ playing games to stay awake/midnight mass,
Easter- coloring eggs, egg hunt/dinner.

Summer- always try to take a family vacation- getting harder with these older kids.

With DH in the Air Force we had to make our own since we never lived near family.

Good Saturday afternoon everyone! Hope everyone is doing well so far this weekend.

I am going to struggle food-wise this weekend because there are a lot of bad food centric things going on. But I am trying to find balance and limit my portions. I also MADE myself go to the gym this morning. I had planned to go to the yoga studio for an hour of yoga, but the instructor didn't show. I was not dressed for the gym and had to go home and change. But, I knew I needed to get a workout in SO I actually did it :cool1: :cool1: I spent 30 hard core minutes on the elliptical. It said I burned about 265 calories and went 2.1 miles :woohoo:

I also wanted to tell you guys about my wonderful new buddy, Amanda (WDWorBust)! :flower3: I was really in need of some extra motivation and knowing that someone was checking up on me. Amanda stepped up to the task and has really helped me to kick it into gear this week! :cheer2: Hopefully, I am helping her to stay on track also. :goodvibes Thanks, Amanda!

OK, everyone, I know tomorrow is Easter and for a lot of us that means we will be surrounded by chocolate and sugar. Do you have a plan for how you will deal with that? What will you do to stay in control?

For myself.... I'm hoping to actually NOT be surrounded :thumbsup2 I have no children to do baskets for and I'm old enough that I don't think my parents will get me anything. Now, I just hope my cousin's kids leave their baskets at home!

Have a Great Saturday everyone!!

Shoot! I forgot to put my family traditions down!

At Christmas we always get together with my dad's side of the family for dinner and a gift exchange. This has expanded to include my MIL and a cousin from my mom's side because they don't have other extended family to spend the holidays with. Well, my cousin's DH had a family tradition that he brought with him when he joined our family. So, as/after every one opens gifts we ball up the wrapping paper and begin a massive paper ball fight! It becomes major chaos w/ 16 plus people in one room throwing paper everywhere. It is a lot of fun though and makes you feel a little less bad about all that one-use wasted paper :thumbsup2 We live in the south where it doesn't snow, so in a way it is our version of a snowball fight :rotfl:

I can't really think of any other traditions that we have. Makes me think DH and I need to create a few as we grow our family :thumbsup2

Happy Easter to all.

I just put three loaves of bread into the oven. I fried some bread dough this morning for breakfast. This is a recipe from my grandmother and I make it about 2 times a year. I used to make it on Thanksgiving but I have not had the time the last couple of years since I cooked the turkey for dinner. I have some veggies to cut up for veggies and dip that I am bringing. I also have to cook a lasagna (Premade not my choice but it is not my holiday to cook). When I get to my dmil house I have to cook the potatoes and the veggies for dinner. My sister in law is not a great cook ( I know that she never cooks for herself.) My other sister in laws don't cook at all. MY mil is not in the best of health so I end up doing a lot of cooking for parties like this. I don't know what they are going to do next Thanksgiving We will be going to my mother's since it will be her birthday. The only reason we are going to dmil's this year for Easter is that it is her 80th birthday tomorrow.

This week I have to make homemade ravioli for my dad's birthday which is APril 1st. We are getting together next Sunday. SInce I have the week off I can a make a couple dozen each day and willl be ready to next SUnday. I need to make at least 250 of them for the party. I am going to get started tomorrow so that I don't have a lot of work to do next Sat.

Dinner is at 2 and we should be home by 5. So after 5 I probably won't have too much to eat. Dinner at dmil's is pretty simple so it is easy to keep on track.

HAve a great Sunday everyone.

It was a long crazy winter and spring came in like a lion. Friday we got 4 inches in about 3 hours. Saturday and today were nice though it got to 40 and everything is melting and then icing over at night. The good thing about all the snow is the lakes will be up when they melt and so will the water tables for the people with wells. Last year we didnt get any snow so people had to have their wells redrilled to get water.

Tomorrow should be nice and i plan to walk the park.

I skipped the PEEPS this morning, and ate my potato with just salt tonite becuase I forgot my margerine and DMom only uses butter, which I can't eat. Not too bad! I'm proud of me for making good choices today!

Good Monday morning. I h ope everyone had a great weekend. I did have some candy and a piece of pie but other wise I did pretty good in terms of food. Besides I never stopped when I was at my inlaws house. I was on my feet almost the entire time except when we had dinner and a little while when mil opened her presents. Two of my sil's did dishes but I I had to put all the food away. I have 4 sil's who were there. I came home feeling sorry for my fil and mil because we will not be there for Thanksgiving (my mother's birthday falls on Thanksgiving this year). Well that is their problem as my dh said last night.

Today we are off to take ds2 to the college he is going to in Sept so he can do testing. I wish they would do it on line. We will drive 3 hours (there and back) for what might be a 1 hour worth of testing. Then the rest of the week is free. I might be taking my care in because the blower decided to stop working yesterday.

DOn't forget that weigh in is tomorrow. Good or bad we should know where we stand.

THe challenge is still on the 2nd page. I wish it was last week when it was my nornal time to go give communion at the nursing home. It is a good time to write a letter. A friend is turning 60 the beginning of May maybe I should write that letter so I don't have to rush it.

Have a great Monday everyone.

Good or bad we should know where we stand. This made me think of a song in the Court Jester that goes "And Stand....And Stand...And Stand".

Good morning everyone. I haven't been too good at doing the challenges last couple times, life is, umm - distracting - right now. I was trying to think of a family tradition that we ALWAYS follow, but I just can't think of one. We have things that we often do, but it bends and changes as rhythm of family life changes. What we might do for Christmas -or any other holiday- depends on when we'll be home, or going to my parents , or going to his parents, or on a vacation trip. But whoever we are with, whereever we spend a holiday, or whenever we get to celebrate, we always share love. Guess that will do.

Our family tradition when I was a child to be with our whole entire huge Italian family and extended family. Now our family tradition is to be just with our family my husband and Two kids at home, if parents or family would like to join us that is fine but that have to come to us..

Hello,

I just want to say that I appreciate all the posts going up and reading about holiday traditions.

Yes, tomorrow is weigh in. I hope to be down but if I am not, well I did make a couple to a few bad choices.

As far as the exercise goes, that is not my problem, I enjoy exercising a lot and find myself looking forwardally. to it. I am enjoying the challenge of the c25k and am feeling really good with it. The exercise is helping me feel better physically and mentally.

As far as the challenges, I do find them helpful but really am having trouble "finding a round to it" to complete the tasks. There are some days that it feels there is too much RL in the way.

Thank you to all those that are helping "keep this together" as far as the stats, challenges, Qod, ETC. What are we all to do when the challenge is done -- in 3 weeks or so. I do not want it to end.
