Hey Everyone!

Alright, I gonna keep this kinda vague, just to be safe. So this summer, I'm taking a vacation to WDW with my siblings & three of our friends. I'm bringing my DGF with, and plan on asking her to marry me. It just so happens that while we are there, it's gonna be her birthday. I've already told her that her present is the vacation, which she is so excited about - but I also plan on asking her to marry me on her birthday as well. I have an idea of how I want to propose, and I wanted to run it by everyone here, since I'm not sure how realistic/good it is...

Okay, so we both love fireworks and Disney. A lot. And she's told me, numerous times, how much she loves the fireworks show at MK (which over the last 19 years of going to Disney with my family, I sadly have never seen). Anyway, I wanted to do this just before or just after the firework show on her birthday. I'm kind of a shy guy, but she loves being the center of attention.

So what I want to do is try and get everyone who's around us (our friends and my siblings, as well as strangers) to sing her happy birthday. Ideally, I was thinking if it's just before/after the fireworks/parade, I could go in the middle of Main Street, get up and shout around to the people around us and ask them to sing to her (knowing full well that Disney probably wouldn't want me to do that, which is why I said "ideally"). Assuming I can make this happen, I would have her stand up as well to be sung to, and as the last lines of the song are being sung ("...Happy Birthday, Dear ________. Happy Birthday to you!"), I would get down on one knee, and ask her to marry me. :goodvibes

So what do you think? Good idea? Bad? Maybe somewhere else I could try this and be successful?! I've still got a couple months before we go, so any input/advice would be greatly appreciated!

I think your ideas so far are great :thumbsup2 Here is a link to the Mouse Weddings web site where they outline some great ideas too that you might be able to combine with what you have so far http://www.mouseweddings.com/wdwromance.html

I think that sounds great. You could also ask one of the photopass photographers to be at the ready so that they can capture the moment on film.

I think it's perfect. Any idea that you came up with on your own is going to blow her away.

The best part of asking, Did you come up with this on your own? is hearing, Yes! :)

The only thing I can think of recommending is mentioning to a cast member in the park what you're planning on doing. He or she may be able to help you get people to start singing.

How Awesome!! Do It Before The Fireworks, They Usually Come Over The Loud Speakers And Announce Like 1 Minute To Go, Don't Wait Till After, Its Usually A Mad Dash Of People Getting Out Of There, Also Another Idea... Try And Get Dinner Reservations Inside The Castle, Around The Time Of Wishes Ask For A Window Seat, So You Can See Fireworks, Tell Them Why (use Birthday And Engagment Card) I Wish You All The Best You Can Call Disney Dining 407-wdw Dine, For Reservations Do It Sooner Than Later This Place Books Fast, Make Sure People In Your Party Bring Camera And Video If Possible To Capturre It All!!!!
In The Restaurant They Can Sing Happy B-day To Her And Have A Mini Cake Brought Out, Before She Makes Her Wish, Ask Her!!!

I agree with Jenn, get a cast member in on it. If you try and start screaming at people odds are no one in the crowd will pay much attention.....they'll look over and shrug it off. However if you get a microphone so your voice carries you'll have better luck!:goodvibes

My husband proposed to me at Cinderella's Royal Table. He called and had it set up before hand. We had a nice dinner at the best table in the center of the room near the window. After dinner, the waiter brought out a covered dish, which I opened and it had my ring sitting in a glass slipper on a rose bud. The rest of the dish was covered in rose petals. Then he proposed. It was fantastic. For dessert, he had ordered the slipper dessert, which had Will you Marry Me written in chocolate sauce around the plate. It was a wonderful proposal. A Disney photograhper was there so we have the pictures, etc. Right after we saw the fireworks in front of the castle.
Now with that being said, I was just at Cinderella's Royal Table for dinner last week. Now that do this show with Suzy, Perla, and the Fairy Godmother, which my now husband said would freaked him out if he was about to propose. It is kind of loud and there is a alot of moving around. However, a couple did get engaged there that night. I might choose a more romantic setting like California Grill or Les Chefs. If you want to do it in front of the castle as you suggeseted that would be pretty romantic as well. I actually saw that happen last week on this trip as well. However, there was no photographer, etc. It just really depends on you.

::bump::

I'm bumping for two reasons:

1) Because I want to see, almost 3 months later from initially asking, what people think.

2) Because in 9 days (June 15), I'm gonna ask her to marry me (one way or another)::yes::

Awww - how sweet! Where are you from in Chicago? I grew up in the burbs too.

My sister's friend got engaged at Disney two years ago. Her now husband talked to cast members and they got them a prime spot in front of the castle for him to do it. So you may want to see if you can get some cast members to help with the "magic" - I also think I read on a thread of a girl who's boyfriend took her to the wishing well in back of the castle and gave her a coin to make a wish. And then he proposed! So cute!

We'll be in WDW next week, but we're leaving on the 13th!!!! We'll just miss you. Good luck on the proposal and congratulations!

First, congratulations! Second, I'm really proud you had the gumption to come on the board and ask!! I know some guys really aren't that thrilled about asking for ideas. Third, I'm so excited for you!!

I think that sounds great. You could also ask one of the photopass photographers to be at the ready so that they can capture the moment on film.

Photopass is a great idea (or ask a stranger if there isn't one nearby)...I would have loved to have a photo of DF asking for my hand...

The only thing I can think of recommending is mentioning to a cast member in the park what you're planning on doing. He or she may be able to help you get people to start singing.

I second the cast member action. You'd be surprised at what lengths disney will help out if its a super special occasion (they love the publicity, methinks).

AWWWWWW I love it!!!!!!!! You should be able to ge people to sing,I read on another thread that people sang happy birthday to a little boy on Main st waiting for the oarade to start. The CM brought him into the middle of the st and everybody sang!!!

I've seen this done before the parade too!! They take the kid right in the middle of the street and there are hundreds of people dying to make a special day more special!!

----

IMHO, like suggested I wouldn't wait until after the fireworks cuz people are in a mad dash -- I'm not sure how sold you are on having a lot of people around, but after the fireworks a lot of people have already filed out of the MK. They do a nightly "kiss goodnight" (during peak its at 11 pm) where they light up the castle very pretty (changes colors) and play Roy O Disney's dedication speech over the loud speakers... I'm surprised how many people choose to miss this because its quite beautiful...anyway, there are a LOT less people around and you can get up close to the castle (or the partner statue) -- OO OO or maybe the wishing well and propose there... I'm kind of a more "intimate" girl so this sounds super romantic to me, but if DGF is a little more flashy, during the fireworks sounds like a great idea to me!

I agree too, you MUST come back and let us know how it went!! (preferably after you get back to you room!! :rotfl2: )

I think this idea is so wonderful!!! It would be so nice to get everyone to sing to her!!! I think its perfect to pop the question right then and there, just as you're finishing up the birthday song!!! Def get a cast member to help you out with that... and I vote for before the fireworks! Then you two can really enjoy the fireworks as an engaged couple for the first time!!! So romantic!! :cutie:

Excellent idea, Cosi Bella! I know people said before because of the crowds leaving and whatnot, but I never thought about watching our first fireworks show as an engaged couple - that's gonna be amazing (but since we're both really emotional, we'll probably both be train-wrecks - it'll be great!).

Wow, Disneygal, it really is a small world. :) Congrats on your engagement, and I can't wait to tell everyone here.

Sorry, I'm on a little anticipatory high right now! :) As many of you have mentioned, I'm only 4 days away. I have been super antsy today, constantly checking DIS and looking at the clock, hoping the day is over. Why won't Sunday come sooner?

I agree with IndyBride! Keep the ring in the box and put it in your pocket! That is what my DF did too! had no problems getting through at Midway (don't know where you are flying out of) However, he had cargo shorts on and the box kept making is his pocket look all funky and i was getting annoyed with it and when i went to fix it he jumped a mile high which i thought was wierd.... anywho, my advice is, keep other things in the pocket too so if she gets suspicious or goes to fix your pocket, you can pull something else random out... like a cell phone or wallet or something! :thumbsup2 oh and throughout the day, DF kept moving it from pocket to pocket so i wouldn't see it or anything. he figured that i was suspicious since he jumped when i went to fix his cargo pocket. at one point i literally thought it was my imagination that he had something he didn't want me to see!!

Again, good idea disneygal! :thumbsup2 We're flying out of Midway, too! I'm gonna try the cargo shorts idea tonight (to see if the box is really noticable). If not, then I'll do that idea. If it is noticable, I might ask my bro or sis to put the ring in their carry-on, and have them at the end of the line going through security (or go in a different line). That way, she won't know if I have it or not. And if I do put it in a cargo pocket, I'll switch it to my carry-on when she goes to the bathroom (then it also won't be digging into my leg the whole plane ride).

--------------------

There's one thing, though, that I haven'y really thought about till just last night. I have NO idea what I'm going to say to her!! :scared1: Like, I know I need to say "will you marry me?" but I'm not sure what I'm gonna say before that. Also, I'm not sure I'll have time to say anything, or if she'll even be able to hear me. I've come up with something along the lines of "i wished upon a star, hoping both our dreams would come true today. will you marry me?"

Cheesy? ::yes:: Any better ideas?

Oh, my goodness! You made me cry. What a beautiful thing to think of. I really hope everything goes perfectly for you. You deserve this to be the most special moment of your life so far. And believe me, she will remember it forever. I will never forget having my DH declare his love for me and ask me to marry him. Unfortunately, my response was "Are you sure you want me?" and my now-DH has spent the last 24years of our lives together showing me constantly that he was sure and that he still wants me. I WISH that undying forever devotion and more for you and your love! pixiedust:

I work at Disneyland, which in no way makes me an expert on proposals, but if you tell a cast member - especially a female one, not to be sexest - they will definitely be happy to help you to get everyone to sing. The most excitement we usually get is having someone threaten to sue Disneyland because someone jumped in front of them in line.

There are no engagement buttons, but you might be able to score a couple of j"ust married" buttons and have a cast member cross out married and write engaged. . . or not.

At Disneyland, in order to get a place right in front of the castle for fireworks you have to get there at least an hour early, but I usually suggest right after the parade. Ask a CM for their opinion.

Also, if you see a CM with an earpiece, that's a lead -manager- and that would be the person to talk to if you want to try to get a photo in front of the castle before the fireworks without other guests in the way. If you ask just after they clear out the area in front of the castle you'd have the best chance. They can't allow people to wander around where they might get hit with a firework, so it's pretty rare to get someone to allow this, but for an engagement you might have better luck.

It sounds like you have a great plan and good luck.

About the wording - what you have is perfect. But for the sake of offering a choice: you might also think of quoting her favorite Disney movie. i.e. if she is an avid Cinderella fan "so this is love", Snow White "you're the fairest of them all" (not a direct quote) those aren't the best choices, but you get my drift.

Best of luck

IndyBride, that's funny about him swatting you from his pocket. I'm still deciding how I'm gonna hide it (cause we'll have 3 other people with us, so that helps a little). And, you're right - anything's better that "here, this is for you!" :lmao:

Aww, thank you soo much, keenercam! You are soo incredibly kind - you even got me to tear-up! I'm living my dream, and I'm so glad that it's also my reality. I CANNOT wait to tell everyone here about this, once it happens!

Thanks for the advice, snowhite! It's great to know tips like that - and yes, (not being sexist) but I was planning on approaching a female CM. We'll just have to wait and see! :hyper:

Okay, two quick updates:

1) My idea might be getting bigger. I might have a connection in the MK that'll do something "really magical!" :genie: I won't know till later today, but I'll keep you all updated!

2) I asked her parents for their blessing this morning, and they said, enthuastuically, "ABSOLUTELY". I've never felt so much relief in my life!

IT'S ALMOST HERE!! :woohoo:

Haha, DF proposed at a hockey game and almost got caught! We were going through security and I was so awed at being at a new rink I was all wandery-eyed... the security woman made him turn out his pockets, saw the box and then said "OMG, you better put that away!" Of course, I didn't find this out until afterwards, but it was cute to hear he was sweatin' bullets! :lmao:

SPIN - as for your wording, I think its great. I know one of the other girls DFs proposed with something like "In this year of a million dreams, will you make all my dreams come true by becoming my wife?" I thought that was incredibly special and not cheesy in the least. Can't remember who though - if anyone knows, please link her pj!

My sweet FSIL was so REEEDICUUULOUS leading up to him asking Val aka Indy Bride to marry him.

Everybody on the trip knew but her (or so we thought) and it took him 4-ev-errrr....

We all were on pins and needles, it finally turns into a family event where Val's sister Tori, her BF Alicia, and myself are trying to speed to the castle all sneaky super spy like to take pics of the big event, and end up missing the whole thing, he ended up proposing in the archway of the castle while we are busy spying down the castle stairs waiting for them to get there...:lmao:

Best laid plans, but it will be a good story for the grand babies!!!

I can't wait to hear how yours turns out!!!!

This is gonna be really quick.

First & foremost, a big :thanks: to alissa, Indy, Ticky, the4princess, & Mama of Indy for the recent posts!! :)

Second, from this point until the proposal itself, I probably won't be able to check DIS too regularly. We're leaving for the World tomorrow morning, and the proposal won't happen til Sunday night. And if I'm caught on DIS (specifically on the Wedding & Honeymoon board, needless to say I'd be caught!).

I cannot thank everyone on here enough for all the support leading up to my proposal! And I can't wait to have my DGF (future DF) join the boards and talk to everyone, too.

As promised, I'll update you guys as soon as possible after the proposal..and if I can sneek a minute or two beforehand, I'll try.

IT'S ALMOST TIME!!!

And my DF can't wait to talk to you all either..we've just been really busy celebrating and enjoying the World. There will be a post soon though..with pix (there's a video too). I just wanted to thank everyone for the posts, and let you know that I haven't forgotten about my friends on DIS!

Looking forward to talking to you all soon!

Needless to say, I am stunned by the response that everyone has left me over the past week! I cannot believe all the :goodvibes that everyone has sent my way. And before I get into anything of an update, let me apologize for not getting back to you all much sooner. After the engagement, we've been in a whirlwind - first enjoying the vacation, and second, coming home and going over to our families to show them the ring, pics, etc...

With that said, ON WITH THE UPDATE! ::yes::

One second of frustrating new - I can't seem to find my memory card with all my pics & the video on it! As soon as I find it, I'll drop whatever I'm doing an post that stuff up ASAP. In the meantime, here's a play-by-play of what happened leading-up to and the day I proposed to my DF. :lovestruc

The night before we left for our trip, I talked over my plan to my bro & sis. My sis agreed to take the ring in her carry-on, and go over to another security line so my then-DGF would have no possibility of seeing anything. Once we got to the hotel, I got the ring from her, and the t-shirt from my luggage, and hid both of them in my bro's room. When my DF went to go do something (at this point, I can't remember) I hid the ring in the safe, and kept the key with me the entire time.

The following morning, 6/15, the nerves started. I was mostly concerned with how I was going to talk to a cast member without DF knowing. So, we left for MK without the ring/t-shirt (since we knew we'd be going back to the room before the night). We got there and went to the Bakery to get some breakfast (and as I'm typing this, I realize the humor in that we ate breakfast at the bakery...more on that later). Afterwards, as we were walking out of the Bakery deciding what we were gonna go do, I told the group I had a stomach-ache I needed to find a restroom. Of course, my DF said the same, so I told my siblings to wait for us in the Emporium. While walking to the restroom (which are conveniently located next to City Hall), I told DF I was feeling really sick, so if she was out before me, to just meet my siblings in the Emporium. She agreed, and walked into the restroom, at which point I ran backwards towards City Hall.

Once inside, I went up to a CM, Patrick (who is a certified SAINT ::yes:: and deserves almost all the credit for the success of my proposal), and told him my plan. I couldn't tell what he was thinking, but a near-by female CM who was listening-in on the conversation started getting all excited. Well, Patrick said he wasn't sure how it could be done, but advised me to get seats early for the parade, then to meet him back at City Hall around 8:00p to discuss further details. While I'm usually someone who panics over little details all the time, I trusted Patrick a lot and agreed, without knowing what would happen. I thanked him for his time, and headed back to meet my group.

The day was nice - we hit-up all 3 mountains, Buzz, and a few other rides by 1:30p, which is when we headed back to the hotel to rest-up for the evening (thank goodness my DF likes to take naps). While we were getting ready to go back out, I snuck the ring and t-shirt into my backpack for the night ahead.

When we got back to the park, my DF & I waited in like to get our bags checked. I jumped outta my line and ahead to another quickly showed them what I had, and he nodded and let me in. A few seconds later my DF came in and we all headed into the park.

At this point I should mention something - it was raining when we got back to the MK. Raining. A lot! :furious: But somewhere in me, I knew that it would hold up. When we headed in it was still drizzling, and kept doing so until around 7:45p (when we decided to sit for the parade). So we went to sit, and my bro, sis, & sis's BF went to look at shops, which left DF & I to save our spots. So right at 8:00p, I told DF that I wasn't feeling well again, and that I needed to run to the bathroom. She agreed to watch our spots, and I ran off. About halfway to City Hall, I was struck with panic - I had left my backpack, with the t-shirt & ring WITH MY DF!!!:scared1: I didn't know how I could run back to get the bag without being suspicious, but was terrified at the idea of her opening the bag to look for something, and finding that. In the end, I decided to have faith a hope she didn't look in the bag (which she didn't). I got to City Hall, and asked for Patrick.

"Patrick's not here right now."

:furious: WHAT?!?!?!?:furious: Well, where is he?

"I'm not sure, let me see if I can find out."

At this point, I was sure I really WAS gonna be sick! Then another CM came by, I guess saw the look on my face, and asked if they could help me. I asked if they knew where Patrick was and the CM was like "Oh, he's just outside handing out bracelets for Magic Hours. So I booked outside to find him.

I ran up to him, and he was like "yes?" I told him I talked to him earlier and he gave me the deer-in-headlights stare. I mentioned my proposal, and instantly  . He immediately handed everything he was doing to two other CMs to help me (again, I cannot stress how helpful Patrick was!). We started walking, and the conversation went like this (Patrick, ME):

Where does she think you are?

Bathroom.

She bought that?

She had no choice - she the only one saving out spots.

Nice. Okay, where are you sitting?

Right in front of the Bakery on Main St.

Good location! What does she look like? What is she wearing?

((At this point I showed him a picture I took of us, so he would know what outfit she had on too))

Great! This makes it easy..okay, now to find another CM who'll be working the parade route.

((He found one, but he wasn't gonna be in the right location))

Okay, well, this is what we'll do. You go back and sit down by her. I'll walk by and see where you're sitting and go find the CM that'll be in your area. I'll let them know what you're looking to do (my original plan) and then I'll give you a sign that we're all set.

Really? That's it? How will I know when it's gonna happen?

You'll know. ;)

Is it gonna be sooner or later?

Around 8:50pm.

Perfect! Thank you SOOO much, Patrick!

((At this point I headed back to my seat))

While sitting there, I watched Patrick and various CMs walk past and gather at different points, chatting and casually looking my way. My DF was oblivious. The only thing she mentioned was that a lot of CMs noticed her birthday pin and wished her a happy birthday. I thought that would work nicely in with my plan (and it did).

Well, after a couple of passes, Patrick and another CM, Al (who was the man-in-charge during the proposal itself) passed by, both giving my the thumbs up - I nodded slightly, and they did as well, and kept walking. Then, another CM went to talk to the PhotoPass photographer that was set-up in-front of us, taking pics of people on Main St. in from of the castle. The photographer nodded, and looked over at me. Shortly after all this, around 8:45p, the fun began.

I looked down Main St. and started noticing about a dozen CMs gathering and chatting in the street. Then, I looked at the photographer, and he was denying people photos, while taking his camera off his tripod. Then he looked over at me, nodded as if it tell me "it's time", which is when I noticed the large group of CMs awkwardly moving our way. Again my DF was oblivious to all of this (which surprised me!). Well, all the sudden Al was standing in front of my DF and screamed "Well, I've heard we have a very special birthday here today. Today is D_______'s birthday! Let's all sing to her. At which point he helped her up, and she gave me a look like "I'm gonna kill you!" (she later admitted that she thought is was happening because all the CMs noticed her pin while she was sitting there, and that I pointed it out to more while she wasn't looking).

Okay, so she's up, and in Main St. being sung the birthday song by 12 CMs and pretty much 1/2 of Main St. The CMs were doing a great job a hamming it up, totally embarrassing her - but she was loving it, and looking around at everyone singing. And when the go to the last "Happy Birthday, to yoooou!" I snuck around the side of her, pulled out the ring, and got down on one knee. As I was standing up, I could hear people starting to gasp and shriek, because I think they knew what was coming. Anyway, I got down on one knee, and she instantly covered her mouth and started shaking. Then I said the five most important words in my life: D_______, will you marry me?!

She immediately started shaking her head yes, as I got up to give her a kiss and a hug. As I backed away to look at her, one of the CMs asked "Did she say yes?!" I told him yes, and they all went nuts, waving their light-sticks and hollarin'. I put the ring on her finger, and then Al surprised us by handing us Mickey top-hat ears & veil ears - something I knew nothing about! So while we were putting those on, a few guys CMs said that had another song to sing, at which point they started belting out "You are so BEAUTIFUL to ME (and him)" It was a really funny moment. Then I gave her the t-shirt and she put it on, we took a few more pics, and thanked all the CMs that sang. After that, we sat down to enjoy the parade.

Okay, so remember how I said I world with someone who's daughter worked at MK? Well, she was actually a character in Spectro (one of the dragonflies). During the parade, she came by, saw us and congratulated us. She also said we should keep our eyes open throughout the parade. What I didn't know was that she told other characters about us, and the would come over to congratulate or gesture to us. It was a great touch!

After the parade, while waiting for fireworks, we started calling our families, who were all thrilled. Surprisingly, neither my DF or I cried during the actual proposal (probably because it happened to quick), but while talking to families & friends, we lost it. We finished our phone calls right before the fireworks started. Here's the only pic I have right now, taken from my phone, right before the fireworks.

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q44/SpinDisc/IMG00040.jpg

And everyone was right - it was better to do it all before the fireworks. It was really romantic to be able to watch them together as an engaged couple!

After the fireworks show, we headed back to City Hall to get out extra Magic Hours wristbands and to find Patrick. We did both, and couldn't stop thanking him. He explained that he had proposed just 3 weeks earlier, and knew how important that moment was, and was happy to help. We told him we also lucked-out because we got PhotoPass pics too. He asked us if we had a chance to see them yes, and we said no. So he goes behind the counter in City Hall, pulls out the memo-pad thing, writes a bunch on it and hands it to me. On top of everything that he had already done for me, he was also giving me a coupon for a free 5"x7" pic. I thanked him a million more times, and asked if there was anything at all I could do for him. He shook his head, and said he just liked making magic happen. Again, this man is awesome!::yes::

On that same note, if anyone knows anything a guest can do to show appreciation for a CM (not sure if I should write a letter or what, but I want to do something), please let me know.

The rest of the night was amazing, with people coming up to congratulate us! I cannot stress this enough (and I know I'm preaching to the choir here), but Disney really is the most magical place on earth!

Alright, talk about super-long post. Sorry again for the delay (and the no pics/video) but I'll post all that ASAP (most likely tomorrow...I mean, later today :thumbsup2 ).

Good night everyone - I hope you all enjoyed the update and can't wait to continue talking to all of you (and eventually, introducing my DF to all of you on here as well, as soon as we set-up an account for her).

That was definitely worth waiting for!!! Wow! What an amazing proposal! I'm so glad it turned out perfectly for you guys.

fyi, as a fellow cm, please write a letter about what the cm's did for you. Trust me, when a guest writes a letter, it always ends up in the right hands and the cm is always rewarded for his/her kindness. We're not allowed to accept gifts so being recognized is huge. He will definitely appreciate it.

First off, congratulations!!!!! I definately was among those in tears reading about your proposal! SO sweet!! And that pic is just smothered in sugar :lovestruc

As for Patrick, DEFINATELY write a letter. Call the main line, ask for MK City Hall, and find out who is Patrick's superior. Then write a letter. As a past CM it was such a magical moment for me when a guest would take time out to show their appreciation to me via a letter or phone call to my supervisor. AND, it goes into his employee file. Which is always a plus for a CM. There are thousands of CMs at the World, and it can be hard for the upper divisions to see all the hard work that some of them put into making magic happen. Its all up to guests like you :thumbsup2

Now on to what people have been waiting for. I am soo sorry that I didn't get these photos up sooner. When I got home, I went to Walgreens to get photos printed from my memory card. Then we went to see our parents, and sometime that night my memory card went missing! :( I thought all was lost, until I was sitting at my parents one day and noticed it on their coffee table. I asked where they found it, and it turns out my mom accidentally took it off the counter, thinking it was hers. ::yes:: But now that I have it, here are the photos!!

Some more news - we've already set a date!! July 31, 2009! Sadly, we won't have a Disney wedding, but we're incorporating Disney into our wedding!

As for the video, I can't upload that from work. So I plan to have that up tomorrow sometime.

Hope everyone enjoyed the pics!! And I'll get D on here soon - as soon as the initial craziness dies down a bit :)

Thank you for letting us share your special moment and congratulations!!!!! I've watched this thread right along and it has been so cool. Post your video on youtube if you can/want to. I saw several proposals on there looking for a special way to do something for my DH. We'll be doing our 25th anny there on 9/3 and I really want to present him with a new band in a very special way (his current one is too wide to wear all the time with the work he does). I wanted to do b'fast at CRT but didn't get it booked. We are doing 1900 and they said Cinderella could present it to him but that won't be on our actual day. Dinner at CG the night of but how would I make it as special as what you did? Ideas?????

Wow...I just realized how long it's been since I've posted on here. Since we got back from that vacation, there was a lot of planning. And then I started and internship (35 hours a week)...and working full time (37.5 hours a week). Needless to say, I'm a little stretched for time. :surfweb:

But that's no excuse - hopefully in the next few days I'll get back up to speed on here, get my DF to join this board too and update everyone on the wedding plans (I have a feeling that this is just gonna be a all-in-one thread (engagement pj/wedding pj/honeymoon pj/recap). It's kinda nice to have the whole story in one place.:goodvibes

But more importantly - how's everyone been?!?! popcorn::

Yeah - within our group of friends it's already a popular story. Mosstly because my DF loves to tell it

Sorry I made you both cry - but I guess that's a good thing. :) Kellypooh - any idea what your son's plans are? If he's looking for ideas, I'd be glad to help - I'm creative when it comes to proposals, and have ideas for the attention seekers and the private guys. Let me know if he'd like an ear or a second opinion. But either way, wish him luck for me! And I'll definitely keep you guys posed on plans. This is now going to become my Ultimate PJ!

And now the fun begins. Okay, since we got back from Disney in June (when I proposed to my DF), we've been doing planning non-stop. We've got so much done, but so much still to go.

Unlike most on this board, we won't be having a Disney Wedding. However, we're planning on incorporating some Disney elements into the reception. For now, here are some basics:

The Ceremony Location: St. Jude - New Lenox, IL
http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q44/SpinDisc/stjude.jpg

The Reception Location: Patrick Haley Mansion - Joliet, IL
http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q44/SpinDisc/PatrickHaley-1.jpg

Booked/Done: DJ, Photographer & Videographer. My DF already has her dress. She already picked-out the bridesmaid dresses (I'll try to add a photo later) & booked the florist.

To Do List: Tuxes, Cake, Limo, Invitations, Registry.

We also designed our Save-The-Dates - I'll upload the design when I get home tonight.

Right now, we're just kinda breathing, getting ready to go out and register (probably within the next month or two). With that in mind, does anyone have any advice for things that we definitely SHOULD or SHOULD NOT register for? Let us know!

Thanks, everyone! I'm soo glad that so many people like our story!!
Brian

Oh I'm so glad you started a PJ!!! If you can, please remind when your wedding date is? I see your honeymoon is in August so it's not too far off! I was told by a friend to register for stuff you want not just practicle things. She said all she did was register for was practicle things and didn't have anything fun. I haven't done it yet and still don't know if I am but if it gets her off my back it just might be worth it!!!

Can't wait to hear more of your story!!

Hey IndyBride! My wedding date is July 31st, 2009. And thanks for the tips about registering - sounds like good advice to me! :)

Oh, yeah - and here's what our Save The Date's look like:

Aww! I love you STD's! That's so awesome!!
Congratulations!

About the registry, I agree. Only things you really want. If you don't think you will use it, don't register for it. DH and I had a fairly short registry, but we ended up getting all but about five things! This way, instead of getting three sets of tubberware, a mixer, and a blender, our cabinets will only be filled with things we really wanted! Not just things we felt like we should register for!

Thanks, topsy! No, we didn't take them in a normal photobooth. We actually took them in my basement. I hung a curtain in a small walkway, and we sat on little stools. My sister took the pics with my camera & i photoshopped them to look like a photobooth. Thanks for the compliment, though! ;)

Good call about the registry, jessesgirl. However, since we both still live at home, we're finding there's a lot we "need" but it's been a fun process :)
