WDCC is having a Figment event next month. I saw the sculpt in the Art of Disney in EPCOT. I can't get down there for the event. I've been to every other event and they normally have them in Sept. I've been to every other one they've had. So now I'm going to miss the sculpt and pin. Unless some kind soul can go for me or allow me to sponsor them.....it's the on-line auction site. Ouch!

I was just at Art of Disney Epcot on Saturday and had a long talk with one of the CMs. I won't mention her name, but she usually works downstairs in stock and has been there many years.
Anyway, she said they have been told the release date will be April 25 and that there are no plans she knows of for an event.
I have checked online at both Disneygallery and odpt and neither has anything listed about an event. I also have checked with Event Services Registration and they have been asking about it for several months and still don't have anything.
At this time the only thing I can visualize right now is they may have a big to-do about it at Art of Disney Epcot with a signing, but not an "event" as they have had for the two previous pieces.

That's great news Cheshire Figment! I asked at AoD in EPCOT last week and they didn't know what was going on. I asked again yesterday and was told by 2 CMs it was an event and to sign up on line. I didn't verify the info, since I knew I couldn't go. I do have my name on their list as I filled out a card last Sunday. I'd really hate to have an incomplete Figment collection.

I checked with some extremely reliable sources. The release date is Saturday, April 26. There is not going to be any event which requires either registration or prepayment.
The day before there is a new LE 1000 (http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=33399) Figment and Dreamfinder Jumbo pin being released, but that is not associated with the sculpt.
About the only thing special that may happen is the artist doing a signing, as was done several years ago when the Harmony Kingdom Figment Box was put on sale.

I always go to Disneygallery.com to find out things like this. Here is what I found once I saw this post.

I just called WDW event services and ordered this piece. If you want one, get on the phone fast! The CM I spoke with expected that the number of pre-sell pieces to sell out by mid-morning today. Your sculpture will not be shipped out until four weeks after the event - now that's a bummer!

Out of curiosity, the one thing I didn't see was the price. What is the price they are charging for the piece?

I never even saw the original JIYI ride, but I do enjoy Figment on the newer version of the ride. That sculpture is awesome! I collect WDCC sculptures; only had a couple until I lucked out last summer when a local store was going out of business and sold tons of older ones at 70% off each. :woohoo:
I won't get to Epcot until May 17th. Think a few of these sculptures will still be around then, or not so much? Even if they had pre-orders left, I can't order one that way; I'm keeping my credit card-owe balance at a minimum before I go to WDW in May and it goes back up.

A minor correction. You want Journey Into Imagination (JIY) which is the original attraction. You do not want JIYI, Journey Into Your Imagination< which is usually referred to as "The Disaster".
I doubt that they will run out of the sculpts in only one month, especially as the sign states that it is an Epcot Exclusive.
And I would suggest you go to www.figmentsimagination.com which has, among other things, video archives of all versions of the attraction.

Thank you for the information! I'm hoping it will still be there because it's adorable; so bright and fun and would look great in my curio. I guess I really did know nothing about the original ride; not even the name! Sorry about that, everyone. I know if it was a ride I loved, I would want folks to try and get the name right.
*heads off to watch videos of original ride* :wizard:
