I'm just wondering what the best possible price I can get the G9 for? Has anyone actually paid less than $400 for it?

Santa gave me mine. It is a hot camera so you won't likely find it for less than that any time soon - many pros use it now as their walk around camera.

Buydig has it for $439, they charge NO tax and ship for free.

I haven't found much of a price break for this camera. I was seriously considering getting a G9 as a point and shoot that I can take to the ballgames when I don't want to haul around my SLR. I took Trina in to get her opinion (she would probably use it more since she prefers point and shoot). That was a mistake since the camera shop had the G9 next to the Canon S5 IS and Trina loves the feel of the S5 IS. I continue to try to explain that the G9 is more compact and can shoot in RAW format but those things just don't seem to matter. My only hope is to find a good deal on a G9 to persuade her. It didn't help that Best Buy announced this week that there has been a $50 price reduction on the S5 IS to $349. Perhaps Canon will likewise reduce the G9.

I saw that too! Part of the reason I want the G9 is because of the size. I really fear that if I get something bigger I will end up leaving it at home or in the room when we are on vacation and then what's the point of it all!? I just wish it didn't cost so darn much!
I have found it at a few places for less, but I don't know how reputible the company is. Although, Gateway had it for $429. I think they are okay!

You might watch Dell.com too. They have in the past run a decent sale on digital cameras and they carry the Canon G9. I go through FatWallet.com (a coupon site) and watch the coupons. Sometimes you get lucky. If you click through FatWallet to Dell then Dell will also give you a rebate of 3% back. It's not much but every little bit helps and it adds up if you buy much online (from Dell or otherwise). I ended up getting about $150 back last year from FatWallet that I ended up using to buy more camera gear. Just a thought...
