View Full Version : What is you goal weight?

My original goal was 150. That felt like an impossible dream when I set it. Now that I am there I am shooting for 130. I'll see how I look there, but if memory serves me right, 130 was awfully chunky on me when I was younger (I'm short). So, are you shooting for a certain weight, size, feeling?

My goal weight is 115. My doctor says 125. I am only 4'11" and small frame. But since I havent seen anything under 150 since the late 80's, I will see what I look like and feel like to decide where I want to stop. I am halfway there, having lost 50 lbs so far, but I have been stalled for almost 3 months. Everyone says that my body is adjusting to having lost so much weight and doesn't want to lose any more at this point. Hopefully, I can get going again soon, as I would love to lose 15-20 before my cruise in May.

I started at 232 in January, I'm now 198 and my goal is 132....lose of 100lbs total.
I have done all this before. A few years ago I was 210lbs....after 8 months of extreme dieting and exercise, I went to 120lbs....way too skinny for me.
Bouncing around the 130's will suit me fine. I am 5'6" and medium framed.
I was very successful dieting a few years ago....but I stopped extreme exercising and adopted poor eating habits and crazy portions that made me gain all the weight back and then some.
I'm motivated AGAIN!

I'm going for 135...middle of my ideal weight range (130-140) for my height, 5'5". That's according to my Doctor's chart, I've seen others that say i should weigh less then that.:confused3 I started at 195 and have lost 40lbs over the past 1-1/2 years. Also trying to get more active, like I was 15 years ago. DD13 and I have started training to run a local 5k. We made a commitment that if we finished the 5k we would do the 2009 Minnie Marathon (5k) and have a long weekend in Disney World for just her and me.

165 at the moment. I have not been under 200 since I can remember. I am just shy of 6 ft tall and large build and huge ****s (thank you Nana). They are DDs although I am really hoping they go down to a C or so with the weight loss, although somehow I doubt it. My father's mother was 4"11, skinny with DDs. Talk about tipping over. My goal is size 8, currently a 12/14 depending on the designer.

I'm aiming for a healthy 150 (my weight prior to having 2 kiddos). As of now I have 50 more pounds to go but I'm not too hard on myself being that my new baby just turned 3 months old! Patience is key with weight loss!

I don't have a definite end goal in site, just taking at 5 pounds at a time. I started at 226, and am 185 now. I think I'd like to get into the 160s realistically, but my next goal is to be 180, and no longer obese, just overweight.:rotfl:

my initial goal is 165 (10 lbs heavier than high school) I will probably reassess my goal from there, maybe 155? anything smaller is healthier, both physically and mentally!

My goal is to weigh in at a "normal" weight which for me is 159. Currently I am in the overweight classification.
I am really determined right now and on my way--16 more pounds to go. A very tough 16 pounds, but I know I'm melting right this minute.
I know too that I will feel much better once there.
We CAN do it. We are doing it!

Nana gave me Double D's too.
Feeling like I don't quite stack up! :rotfl: Just kidding, I have my share!!
Anyway, what was the question?
My goal is to fit comfortably back in to a size 10. Once I reach that goal I will re assess the situation. I have gotten up to a size I really, really am not comfortable at.

My initial goal weight was 120 (I am 5' 2" with a small-to-medium build). Pre-kids I was 115 - 120 and that was ultra-thin (size 2). However, I have been stalled for a while now, so I changed my goal to 125 so that success seems attainable instead of impossible. I have 13 pounds to go for the 125....and it is coming off S-L-O-W-L-Y even though I am doing everything right. I never cheat and I work out and run 5x/week.
I started this mission as a 10/12 (depending on label) and I am now a 6/8 (though I am happy to admit that more 6s than 8s! :goodvibes ).
While 13 pounds to goal may not seem like much...on my frame it is very noticeable. If you saw me, you still describe me as "stocky" at least, if not "slightly chubby."
So...I continue on....

I'm 177 and I'm going for 145. I'm 5"5', so that's a little over my ideal weight, but it is within the normal range on the BMI scale. In high school, the lowest I weighed was 127 - that was after a 15 lb sudden weight drop and I looked sickly. Since then, the skinniest I've been (which was in college in the ROTC program) was 142. I'm thinking 145 is pretty reasonable.
I got down to 152 before my wedding last year and I looked hot (if I do say so myself...), but then I fell off the wagon...
Now I've got to get back on and lose that weight again (the goal is for summer and definately for our disney trip in September!).
Good luck everyone!!

Honestly, I don't have a goal weight. I have a goal "look". There is a certain way I want to look and as soon as I get to it, I will be sure to post a picture.
The reason I don't have a goal weight is because I know that with all of the training that I am doing, I am building a lot of muscle. I also know that muscle weighs more than fat. So I am going for a look. If I weigh the same as I did at the beginning but look the way I want, you will never here a complaint out of me.

Well, I thought my goal was 125, but apparently, for my height (4'11") I should weigh between 95 and 119.
I can't imagine getting that small again, I think I was at 112 for 5 minutes once in my 20's. :lmao:

I started at 160 and am now at 156. I would like to be 140 and then see what happens. I am 5'6" tall. When I was 39 I weighed 129. Now I am 54 and I think that would be too thin and I would look like I was sick. So 140 should get me into the clothes that don't fit...;)

My goal is 180, which will get me to a healthy BMI, then anything under that will be a plus. I'm 6' tall and have a large frame. I weighed around 180 when I got married (14 years ago) and was thin. I'm on the "weigh" down!!:thumbsup2

I'm 5'7" and weigh around 160.
I wear a size 10 but I want to look REALLY good in a size 10;) I'd love to be a size 8 but when I was 140 I still wore a size 10.
I carry my extra weight in my upper torso area - chest, chin, etc. Just losing that will make a big difference.

I think for me I have a goal weight, and then depending on how I feel there is a dream weight. For me my goal weight is 140, which is still technically overweight for my 5'2" frame but that was what I weighed when I graduated high school and met my husband. When I get there I will think about 120. right now I am 224 and a size 18. yuck!

I'm 292, and I'd like to be 140. I haven't weighed that much since I was 9 years old. :confused3 I also was 140 when I was around 9 years old, even though my parents were doing all the things parents today are told to do if their kids are fat. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I was starting to feel very alone, reading all these posts about how people want to get back to 120 or whatever. Obviously, I was 120 at some point in my life (I wasn't born weighing 140), but I was so young at the time that I had no real awareness of my weight.
My goal is just to lose 40 pounds, even though that will leave me in the obese category. I'm concerned that if I lose too much, I won't be able to maintain it. If I can maintain a 40 pounds loss for the rest of 2008, I may see about going lower.

jasonJason, how tall are you? I would love to find some other people whose goal weights is above the "normal" range for their height.
Intellectually, I know that hardly anyone goes from being obese to normal weight by dieting and is able to stay there, but I still feel weird that everyone except me seems to be planning to get all the way (or almost all the way) down to "normal."

I too am 222 (size 18)and hoping for a first goal of 185 (hopefully a comfy 14)then I will shoot for 170ish. i am 5'7" and my BMI is 33. I was 160lbs 8 years ago and I was so happy I had posed pictures taken. I have since gotten rid of those jeans.Boo-Hoo. I ran/walked the Disney 1/2 in 2005 (at 190)and a 10mile(at 210) in Mpls in Oct. 2007. Slow but finished. I have my youngest's HS graduation, 30th class reunion, family reunion and my son is getting married in the fall. All kinds of external reasons. I really just want to tie my shoes with out passing out and get my wedding bands off to get them cleaned for now. I have started walking daily. 2 down so far. I am watching my food and cutting portions in 3rd or 1/2 if I can. Drinking water again ( forgot about the Crystal light peach ice tea). It really cuts that sweet crave for me. I am not a big snacker so that is not it. I think it is just the meal consumption that gets me. I have been approx. the same weight for 4 years. If I make a few changes I should see something pretty quick. Looking forward to this week. Starting positive. I also have been watching I Can Make You Thin on TLC. So good tips. Best of luck to all

When I first started I was close to 200 pounds and am now down to 148. I would like to lose an additional 20 but I feel like I'm destined to be stuck in the 140s forever.
I'm hoping with the nice spring weather and later daylight, I'll get more walking in after supper. The other week when I ran 39 miles and walked 20 miles for the week I noticed the scale started budging so that was a little encouraging!

Hi all, I'm new. I started my new lifestlye in January at 232 lbs. I am now 220lbs. I am 5'1. I was always thin even after having twins I walked out of the hospital in my regular clothes...then it all just exploded and I have been strugling for 10 years. Truth is I wasn't actually being a truthful dieter and soo though I am deemed the queen of diets I am now just making better choices and accepting that I am not dieting I have to see it as a new lifestyle...no exception. I would like to just reach 199lbs right now. Thats my short term goal....my long term is 140 lbs. I do not focus on that because I get overwhelmed and I have to remind myself that its for life. I not hoping to make it, I try my best to accept that I WILL make it! I was so discouraged last night but reading the boards have re- energized me. Finally I feel that other people really understand.

In 32 more pounds lost, my BMI will be 24.9, that puts me in the "normal" healthy BMI. It feels good working towards HEALTHY!

I'm shooting for 150. But when I get to 160 I will adjust. 145 sounds great but I haven't been under 200 in SOOOO long that I'll have to see where I'll be comfy. I want to be able to fit into size 8-12. I'm 5'8" so according to weight watchers charts I should be under 151 so I'm really looking at 150. I dunno the women in my family tend to carry weight more like a man we can be smaller than other women our same build and height yet weigh quite a bit more. So I'm ultimately going for size over weight but being under 200 will be amazing and it WILL be the first time since junior high when I get there.
Right now I'm focusing on 250's which is my pre-pregnancy weight. That is a 30 lbs mini goal for right now.

I'm going by body fat percentage (BMI, I think, isn't the way to go for me because I have a very small frame). If I were truly serious about it, I'd go in for a real body fat analysis, but don't want to spend the money. So I have a scale that supposedly measures body fat; it says I'm at 24.1%. I'd like to be at 22%. Doing the math means I'd just need to lose about 3 pounds of pure body fat, but based on my current size and my average size-drops-per-pound, it could be as much as 10 lbs to get to my dream look/size, so I don't know how accurate the scale is about my current body fat.
I'm 5'9" and currently an 8/10, more so on the 10. It'd be great to be an 8-only or even a 6. I have a "ruler" body type (supposed to be long and skinny,) but the girls are a D, so go figure.

 Congratulations everyone!!! Sounds like you are all making positive changes.
Hi!! I am new here.
My goal is a healthy BMI. I am 5'5".
When I started this journey I was 256 lbs and my BMI was 43.:sad2:
After 16 months I am now 193 and my BMI is 32.
I have 10 more lbs to lose to move from the obese BMI to just over weight.
My ultimate goal is 150 and a BMI of 25. If I can get below that WOOHOO.
If not, I am ok with that. As I get older I know it will be harder to maintain
anything much lower. My goal is to just stay in the healthy BMI level.
My best advice to everyone is to set a LOT of mini goals and make a list of them.
I set a goal every 5 lbs. Plus I set goals at special weights like, pre-kids
weight, lower than my skinny husband weight, lower than my mother weight,
wedding weight, etc. One of my favorite goals is my kids weights. My youngest
is in kindergarten and weighs 55 lbs. It was fun to lose his weight and then be
able to pick him up and know that I used to weigh both of us together.
So make a list everyone. I have mine and I take it out every week and see
how far I need to go before I get to cross off something else. I can't wait till
the day when the piece of paper is just a bunch of black sharpie lines!!
