Hi everyone!

My family and I are thinking of going to Florida in June this year. We've been several times before but never in June. Does anyone have any hints/tips for this time of year?

How hot is it? We've been in July, August and September but not June.

Also, does anyone know when the Flower and Garden Festival is?!

Thanks in advance for your help!

The weather is very hot, though not quite as stifling as July/August.
US schools I am sure break up mid June - earlier than they do in the UK.
Crowd levels not bad, July is much busier for example.

There are better times to go but having said that there are worse times too.

Visiting the parks at cooler times of the day is good advice and getting plenty of shade/liquid when out and about is important also.

It's common to get heavy rainfall from June through to August, normally they are just afternoon thunderstorms.

2005 was a wierd year weather wise in Orlando, we went in March and at times it was freezing cold.

We've been 3 times in June. In 1998, it didn't rain at all, although we did experience a shower on the way back to the airport for our flight home. I also think they experienced record temperatures that year,100 degree high's. In 2002 it rained constantly for nearly 2 weeks! In 2004 we had some afternoon thunderstorms but some of these did last way into the evening. I also find this to be the case in July though.
A bit of everything really weather wise.
In my experience June is busy in the parks but not as busy as July gets.
I'm going in June again next year so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for the weather. :worship:

Been 3 times in June.
All 3 times the weather was scorching, however a thunder storm would cool down for the afternoon but the weather was still humid.
It's very common to have thunderstorms in "peak season"...TBH they dont last that long (well havent when we have been there) as soon as they have finished its back to dry/hot and muggy again.

We carry around cool drinks,Mist fan,and try and avoid the hottest part of the day by spending that shopping so on.

When in June do you guys visit? Is there any difference crowd and weather wise between the first two weeks or the last two weeks of the month?

I would say there is a difference.

Weather wise, the summer heat starts to kick in late in May and then gradually build up to the intense heat and humidity of July and August.
Early June may be slightly cooler therefore, but ANY time will be hot and temps could be in the low 90s.

I think the US schools break up the middle of the month.

Overall if going in June I would say earlier would be slightly better.

It's always been the last 2 weeks that I've been there.:)

Thanks everyone!

As I said, we've been countless times but usually go in August/September when it's not so busy. The reason for going in June this year is that I am finishing my FINAL year of Uni at teh end of May and we're going for a well deserved (and much needed) celebratory holiday!

We went at the end of July in 2002 and a few years before that but never in June. We're looking at going on the 31st May for two weeks, so hopefully it will be the quieter/cooler part of June!

Personally I lvoe the thunder storms, because they are far better than our cold windy ones we have over here!!

Thanks again for the advice!

Most of the northeast schools are out mid june, however don't use that as a rule, TN gets out the end of May. I would still bet on earlier in june rather than later. Have fun.

We went 26 May 07 & the Garden Festival was on for just over a week, it was beautiful & well worth seeing. We'd been Aug 05 & comparing them I felt it was slightly busier but cooler (still hot but not as humid). No rain in May/June but most afternoons in Aug.

W went last year last week of may and first 2 weeks of june, it only rained once on June 1st!! i remember *** its DD birthday and we got soaked going to the castle for dinner, it was nice hot not unbearably hot other than last 2 days when it got very hot.
Crowds were at a good level as well other than one weekend which i think was there holiday weekend.

We have been at this time for the last 3 trips, mainly due to DD's school holidays, we love this time of year, weather is very humid and we've always had plenty of thunderstorms;) , but they don't bother us, hey we're in WDW who cares:laughing: , apart from last year we had one major storm and we've never experienced anything like it before, hail like you've never seen, I'm soooo glad my DH was driving:worship: , you couldn't see the car infront :scared1: , I'm sure others who we're there at the same time will agree it was frightening, we we're just glad to get back to our villa:) , also watch out for the lovebugs in the 1st week, they are somewhat really annoying:headache:

We were there in June/July '05 and had a great time. There was definitely a noticeable difference between the intensity of the heat at the start of the trip (20th June) and the end (5th July). I will say those last 3 to 4 days were breathtakingly hot but the first 10 or so days were totally bearable, provided you drink water more or less constantly and take lots of midday breaks. Those longer park hours in June combined with the not-yet unbearable heat makes a good combination imo. I think you'll have a ball. :woohoo:

Thanks again for all your advice everyone! I'm sooo excited, I'm counting down the days. We're going to make sure we go to Epcot on the 1st June as it's the last day of the Flower and Garden Festival and we've not seen it yet.

The flower and garden festival is great. And this is coming from a young man hehe. When we went last year the they had a massive topiary scene from the lion just on the outskirts of the world showcase, it was so cool.

we went June 2006 and are going again this year on June 4th

It was hot but bearable (we've been in August 2 times previously) and crowds weren't too bad. The MGM Star Wars weekends are on in June this year but the Flower festival finishes 1st June so we'll miss that.

Water park EMH start in June so we hope to take advantage of those this year
