I was waiting for some one to start! DH and I will be celebrating our 50th birthdays on this cruise. We are going to the parks after. DMom has DVC points she needs to use - how sad.

Chelley00
03-20-2008, 03:25 PM
Yay! I was beginning to think I was going to have to play all alone

domiii

We know there are at least 2 families on board!:lmao:

Have you cruised with Disney before? This will be our third Disney cruise.

Chelley00
03-21-2008, 09:43 AM
It's actually our first ever cruise. The kids are over the moon excited. (well, and us too!) It will be nice to know a "veteran" on board though.

There has to be more people on board. There wasn't a whole lot of availability last week. They can't all be non-Dis people!!

domiii

We have loved it. We did the land/sea 3 day cruise our first time. It was just too short! You finally get your bearings and it was time to get off the ship. The 7 day was a lot of fun. But we were so busy we still had no down time!

We decided to go for broke this time (because of the birthdays) and are in a category 3!! Since we've been to Nassau, we plan to stay on the ship this time. It will give us time to explore, go to a movie, relax.

Your kids are good ages for the clubs. Our DD is finally old enough to go to Palo with us. I highly recommend Palo. If you plan to go to Palo, consider the brunch rather than the dinner. Both are fabulous, I just hated leaving my daughter the last two times at dinner. If you do choose dinner, schedule a late dinner so you can be with the kids at dinner.

The infomation on this forum, especially the best tips thread, it absolutely the best. The over the door shoe hanger for the bathroom was a blessing!

Was it something I said? :confused3

Chelley00
04-01-2008, 03:44 PM
I'm beginning to think no one else wants to play with us!!

I know there has to be more people, because I tried to look at availability of other staterooms, and there isn't a whole lot left. We have fish extenders and everything!!!

I'm so jealous of your cat 3, domiii. Although, we do have 2 connecting cat 6's, so we at least have verandahs. Where are you staying afterwards? We're had a trip planned for Pop before the cruise, but we've had some major changes at home, and now are just going to do a quick trip offsite to go to MNSSHP on the 30th, and Epcot on the 31st before heading to Cocoa Beach for the night before the cruise. I've changed our plans so many times I bet our TA's hate us! :headache:

domiii
04-02-2008, 08:08 AM
Chelley00 - what are fish extenders??

We had category 6 both other times we cruised. The four of us found them adequate. I am claustrophobic, so the veranda was a must. If you want a little more room, the coffee table can be removed. You just have to ask.

We are beginning to think the category 3 was a bad idea. How will we ever be able to go back? My mom is thinking we may have to celebrate her 90th with a cat 3!

We are flying in on Saturday and staying at All Stars something or Port Orleans FQ (I hope), rent a car on Sunday to get to port. On the return we plan to rent a car, go grocery shopping and then head to Saratoga Springs Resort for 5 days. We have friends and my MIL joining us.

Do you know your room number? We always put something hanging on our veranda so we can see where are room is when we disembark. (A towel or ribbons, etc.)

I can't wait 7 months.

Chelley00

Here is a link to fish extender thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607

People make them and hang them on the fish outside their stateroom door for mail and then exchange gifts. We were orginally scheduled for a Sept cruise and there quite a few people participating in the fish extender exchange. Even if we don't do one on this cruise, we'll still hang ours out.

We're in staterooms 6072 & 6074.

214 days until the cruise!

I see you are mid ship. We have always been aft. We are in 8078. We love the port side. You get to watch as people disembark and embark from Nassau and Castaway Cay!

Goldeelox9
04-07-2008, 04:28 PM
Hey Guys! I will be on the ship too!!! I am getting married on the Castaway Cay day on the island! I am sooo excited! We have about 30 friends and family members coming with us! I am in room number 6580!

Domii - I am too jelous of your cat 3! I see you are from NJ did you pick this week because of the school schedule. We are in MD but my DF is from Jersey and his friends are coming and all live in New jersey, with two of them being teachers. That is one of the reasons we picked this week!

Goldeelox9

WOW you're jealous of me?? You're getting married on CC!!!! We actually picked this week because of our schedules! Our DD is in college. But we normally come down at this time anyway as DMIL is a teacher too.

The only reason we picked a cat 3 is because I had a phobia about turning 50 and needed to make it sepcial. I've since had a revelation and realize age is a state of mind and it is just a number. :laundy: I don't feel (or look) 50. We usually are in a cat 6 - I'm claustrophoic! But enough of me rambling.....

Welcome to our cruise family! Details, I need details. Where, when, reception? Am I being too nosey - sorry, I'm just so excited for you!

Hey, Chelley00 - I was beginning to think it was only you and me on the cruise.

Goldeelox9
04-08-2008, 12:14 PM
Thank you! I am way excited! The reception in in Palo following the ceromony. The ceromony will be about 9:00am on the beach near the heads up bar I think on castaway cay! We will deffinatly need to meet up! Also I am dying for a tour of your cabin :rolleyes1 ...LOL Cat. 6 is the highest I have stayed and I want to see how the other half live! LOL I am sure you guys will se me all around the ship. I plan on wearing my Minnie bride ears ALLL CRUISE LONG! LOL

Also I have a planning journal...the link is at the bottom of my signature if you want a sneak peak at the dress!

domiii
04-08-2008, 01:31 PM
I can't view the pictures at work .. I will when I get home!

We'll be able to watch you leave the ship on CC. We are located on the port side, aft of the ship above the ramp to CC. How very exciting. Can't wait to tell DD(20)! Need a wedding singer at your ceremony? :rolleyes1 DD has a beautifully trained voice! She is going to be jealous too. She wants to be married on the beach.

Goldeelox9
04-08-2008, 03:56 PM
I will wave to you all! Hey I will check with my planner....Maybe you guys could come to the wedding....I know I have to pay extra (I am at my limit) for the extra guests at the reception, but if you want me to ask and you don't mind giving up a little time at Castaway Cay you are more then welcomed to come watch the ceromony (if possible)!

domiii
04-08-2008, 04:10 PM
Thanks for the offer .... its the first time we can all go to Serenity Bay together, so that's where we are headed. I'll just have to see pictures after!

OhanaMAMA - I forgot to welcome you, too!

Goldeelox9
04-09-2008, 11:34 AM
Oh...I love the adult beach. We won't make it there this trip since we have little kids coming and we will want to hang out with everyone. Try to grab a hamock and have a tall fruity drink for me! DOn't worry you will see tons of pictures, I am a picture taking fool!

You are not alone :thumbsup2

We are a family of three from Ottawa, Canada.....Me (LS - 34), my husband (JS - 34) and our little man (CS - 5 at time of trip). We will be doing Disney first or 6 days, staying at the Carribean Beach Resort, and doing MNSSHP on the 31st. We have already planned to do Atlantis in Nassau and Stingray Adventure at Castaway Cay. This is our first ever Disney trip and first ever cruise so you can imagine how excited we are. :cheer2:

I have already been planning and I must admit I look at this site every day (at work of course!!). Soon they will put a firewall on this site too! There is lots of great information here.

Does anyone know how far in advance you can book reservations at Palo?

domiii
04-10-2008, 09:57 AM
I just looked at it on ebay - will have to get one. DMom is good (she made my wedding dress, the bridesmaids and her dress), but has never done appliquing (however you spell it).

Lisa - you aren't planning on slipping some Maryland Crabcakes in there are you? Can get a little messy/smelly. :lmao:

We are in 8078. it will be DH, DD(20), DMom (82) and me. Did I mention DH and I will be celebrating our 50th birthdays? :confused3

domiii
04-10-2008, 10:05 AM
Welcome Lori! You will thoroughly enjoy your cruise.

Palo is 75 days in advance, providing your cruise is paid in full. You can also try once on board, if you aren't successful on line. Some people switch or cancel. I highly recommend brunch!!! Don't get me wrong dinner is great, too. We were at brunch for almost three hours and it seemed like it was only and hour. Brunch is only offered one day, so that one may be difficult to obtain.

(I'm doing this at work, too! I really have to stop.) :rotfl:

Goldeelox9
04-10-2008, 10:30 AM
Ahhh was that a request for crab cakes.....Hmmm I will see what I can do. :) I am so excited our little group is growing. We are in State room 6580 and It is me and my Husband (ekkk...That sounds so awesome) Pete!

Lisa - We are from the Flemington area, north of Princeton.

Chelley00 - what is a naitve Indiana item?

I will not bring tomatoes, no need to worry.

Last time we did a swap meet, a Diser was from NYC and we joked about rats - guess what we all got, rubber rats.

Goldeelox9
04-10-2008, 10:57 AM
I have already been planning...LOL This seems like fun. My DF thinks I am nuts to add one more thing into the planning of my trip. We are getting married on the cruise then following up with a week in WDW. LOL I love it though!

I will try to get some of my guests in on the fun. I have two good friends coming from the Carolinas....OhanaMama and another that I bet would like to play!

By the way Goldeelox, your engangement ring is stunning!

Hey all,
I had a very busy weekend and this coming one is just as busy! I have been trying to think of some fun stuff to put in everyone's fish extenders ... it feels like a Secret Santa! It gives me something to ponder. Does any one collect/trade pins??

Goldeelox9
04-14-2008, 10:09 AM
Pete and I are both Pin lovers. We just got the pIn Crave last trip and each have like 15 special pins. We have never traded, but i do plan on buying some from Ebay for us to trade on our honeymoon after the cruise. I have a couple of FE ideas. I am excited about this. Now I do have a question? To we put tags on the items to let people know who put them in thier FEs?

Chelley00
04-14-2008, 10:21 AM
We will. I bought pirate themed baggies and we'll stick a card in them with our name and stateroom number(s) on them :)

Goldeelox9
04-14-2008, 10:29 AM
Ok, I planned to make little Tags, but I wanted to make sure that is what was done!

domiii
04-14-2008, 11:09 AM
Tags are good - I may slip a surprise unnamed in the FE any way!

Lisa - they trade on the cruise, too! Of course you'll have a whole lot of other things to think about on the cruise. When you look on ebay, make sure you add the shipping when figuring how much per pin you end up paying! We have a few more than 15! :rolleyes1

Is every one dressing for Pirate night?

Goldeelox9
04-14-2008, 12:41 PM
We arn't dressing for pirate night because it will also be the night of our wedding and I know my girls are wearing their bridesmaid dresses. I think we may get eyepatches for eveyone though!

Chelley00
04-14-2008, 01:00 PM

Let me know how many you'll need. I have a TON that I bought in bulk and should have plenty left over after making our FE bags :)

We have matching pirate Mickey t-shirts for pirate night. We may even wear them to MNSSHP before the cruise, but I'm not sure I can get the littlest kids to give up actual costumes this year!

SavoryMom
04-15-2008, 09:14 AM
We will be dressing up for pirate night for sure. My little guy already has a pirates of the caribbean dress up set so I think I will build on that. As for me and my JS we will probably go low key with bandanas and eye patches. It is going to be so much fun!

Is anyone doing excursions at Nassau? We were thinking about Atlantis.....would love some feedback.

Goldeelox9
04-15-2008, 09:51 AM
I think we may do the historical boat tour in the Bahamas. I also want to go over to Atlantis to look around. I know a few people in our group are going to go to the Aquarium at Atlantis. Let us know what you pick!

Hello, I am joining in! I met Goldeelox over on the wedding and honeymoon board. We are in cabin 8556 and will be on our "honeymoon". I am using the term Honeymoon lightly because my kids, parents, possibly my brother and new father and brother in law will also be on the cruise. We will be at the Beach Club for 8 nights, going to MNSSHP, celebrating my birthday, and getting married at the Wedding Pavilion before the cruise.

We might bring pirate costumes if I can fit them in the suitcase! Also thinking about going to Atlantis. One of my daughters will only be 22 months so I am not sure if we should go.

domiii
04-15-2008, 01:28 PM
shezfrombermuda :welcome: When is your birthday?

TWO newlywed couples on the cruise!! How fun. party:

We will most likely dress up for Pirate night. We are a theater family and a chance to play dress up is a must for a family of actors! In fact DH and I met at the theater!!

We are planning to take it real easy and only get off on CC. We've cruised 2 other times and still haven't seen the whole ship. DH (Dominick) wants to take in a movie. DD (Kayla) wants to go to the spa. I just want to relax. Can't wait to go to Serenity Bay. Kayla is finally old enough for Palo and SB!!

Dominick's cousin and aunt went to Atalntis and loved it. If you are looking to save some money, look at other posts from those who did not book through Disney and went to Atlantis on their own.

We are staying at SSR after the cruise for 5 days. My DMIL and some friends will be joining us.

Hey everyone!! Can I join in?
We will be taking our first cruise ever on the Wonder on 11/2/08.
We've done WDW many times but have never cruised before.
Our family includes myself, DH, DD15 (will be 16 at cruise time) and DD12 (will turn 13 the day we board ship)
We are celebrating our 20th Wedding anniversary (10/15/88- a few weeks late), DD's 16th Bday (5 weeks late) and DD's 13th Bday (on her actual Bday 11/2). We will be in cabin 6534.
We all are incredibly excited. :woohoo:
Our plans at this point are to fly to WDW on Fri 10/31 (kids are off from school on 10/31, 11/3, and 11/4 so they will only miss 3 days of school ;) ) go to the MNSSHP (I know I will need to get tix for this ahead of time), not sure about Sat's plans, go to port Sun morning, and then return to WDW until Sat after the cruise. I don't think we'll get a whole lot of park time in, but I am hoping to hop down to WDW in the beginning of Aug w/ just the girls to spend tons of time in the parks. DH needs a WDW break. :lmao:
In the last few years, we went 3 x in 18 mo and 2 trips were for 9 nights and 1 was for 7, so DH has had his fill for a little while.
Goldeelox9, I see you are from Baltimore. I am from Bel Air. We're already neighbors, kind of. :goodvibes
I am so excited I just can't wait. I keep wishing the year away so Nov will get here quicker. Those of you who have cruised before, did I pick a good cabin, it's a cat 6 w/ verandah? I'm trying to figure out our hotel before & after and whether to get an annual pass if I'm going to get to go in early August. The Nov trip/cruise is adding up pretty fast. :rolleyes1
Looking forward to chatting w/ you all soon
Lynn

How our little family is growing!!! :cool1:

Welcome to our thread Lynn. :grouphug:

We have stayed in a Cat 6 the other 2 times we cruised and LOVED it. People have various opinions of yes or no for the verdana. I can't imagine cruising without one. We spent a lot of time on the veranda our on the 7 day. It's a nice beginning or ending to the day. We did the 3 day for our first cruise and it just wasn't long enough. So good choice on a 4 day. (You'll think it isn't long enough, too!)

We are celebrating our birthdays as well. They will have past by the tmie we set sail, but this is our birthday present to ourselves.

FYI (if you don't already know) it is Food and Wine Festival time in Epcot during your stay. It's a nice change from doing the parks if DH needs a break. We love to eat (and drink) around the world.

Do I talk too much?? I'm just excited about going I have to share my whole life!

TGIF everyone.

Karen

Years ago my in-laws lived in NJ. the only reason I would go and visit them was because I loved the malls in/near Jersey where they lived... Cherry Hill, Franklin Mills, King of Prussia (I know that one is PA, but it wasn't very far away), and a couple of others I can't think of right now.
I have to say though, the thing I hate the most about Jersey, Those stinkin' jug handles!!:headache:
Thing I like the best, you don't have to pump your own gas like here. :lmao: (unless that's changed)

BTW... nice to meet you :wave2:

Welcome fellow Marylander! You are right sown the hall from us! We have about 30 people going and we will all be on your floor. You will feel right at home!

Well that explains why there were only 6 cabins left (that were cat 6) on this level either side of the ship. 3 were up where we are and the other 3 were in the rear area near the rear elevators. Please excuse my lack of 'nautical' lingo as I am not a 'sea type' person. I don't really like boats so I am hoping that this works out okay for me. and that I don't end up like this

Stitchlovestink - are you mid ship or aft? Were were on deck 6 and I really never had a problem. I get sick watching PhilharMagic!!! Bring gingersnaps, they help!!

Well we aren't quite mid ship. We are about 3 cabins 'behind' the forward elevator lobby. When I look at the map, there are a total of 14 cat 8 & 11 cabins on the same side. We will be the 4th cat 6 cabin w/ the verandah. Learning this nautical lingo is KILLING ME!! :lmao:

OH!! I LOVE MICKEY'S PHILHARMAGIC!!!! But I have learned that I do need to sit near the middle of the screen or I will get sick from all the movement in my periphial (sp?) vision field. Just like I really need to sit front row on Soarin' or all of the moving dangling feet will make me sick. Don't know or understand why, but it does.

Someone told me to get ginger tablets? Anyone else tried these? Guess it couldn't hurt to bring it all along. Hopefully, I won't need any of it. thanks for the suggestion though.

BTW what is the Fish Extender Gift Exchange! Can someone explain what it is and how it works. I've never heard of something like this before. thanks.:goodvibes

Okay, I was a good girl and stuck to my anal accountant, frugal budget minded stick in the mud self, and changed our rooms. We're now in 6618 and 6611. They are a little farther apart than I wanted, but I'm hoping some poor soul has to cancel and we can find something closer. :)

However, DD is overjoyed because 6618 has the upper berth. She was so dissappointed that our previous rooms only slept 3 each and she was going to have to sleep in a "real" bed. Now she gets her bunk. :confused3

TGIF! So is anyone planning on doing the brunch at Palo on our at sea day? I think my DF and I are going to do it instead of dinner at Palo. We don't want to miss any of our shows or dinner with our friends and family!

domiii
04-25-2008, 11:10 AM

Have you been to either before?

Goldeelox9
04-25-2008, 11:12 AM
I have been on the Disney Cruise 3 times and never wanted to give up a theme night to go to Palo. I figure we will do brinch this time and save dinner for when it is just us on a future cruise.

domiii
04-25-2008, 12:37 PM
Now I hope I have PTTA rotation!!! We don't mind skipping Parrot Cay and Kayla loves Animator's Palate. I think it would be a scream to be dressed up as Pirates in Tritons!!!

We plan to go to Palo's around 7:30 on the first night and will stop in Parrot Cay for an appetizer and meet our wait staff.

What dinner seating does every one have? We have the main seating. I can't go to bed with a full stomache - acid refulx - so we like the earlier dining. Dominick and I like to walk the upper decks before we turn in for the night and to help everything digest. :)

Goldeelox9
04-25-2008, 12:44 PM
All of us have the late seating. The reason I did this was so the little kids in our group could eat something from room service or the decks before our 6pm show and then go to the kids clubs while the parents eat. That way the parents can enjoy a good dinner and the kids can play. There is no way the little ones could wait until 8 or so to start eating!

Chelley00
04-25-2008, 12:50 PM
We have late, are waitlisted for first. Late is going to SUCK with a 3 year old and I'm another refluxer, so I won't be going to bed for hours after dinner. I'm hoping we can get to port early enough to try and get it changed, plus we want a Palo brunch, but I'm sure it will be fully booked before we get to make the ressies at 75 days for first cruisers. I'm going to take a book and camp out waiting to make ressies as soon as we get on board

domiii
04-25-2008, 02:56 PM
Shel - I beat it like a mad women to get to Diversions to change our ressie for brunch on the 7 day. I gave them hugs and kisses (really, ok the Hershey ones) and they were able to help me out - there were 8 of us. Two should not be a problem, I hope. I'll send some pixiedust: your way! Even if it is a waitlist for Palo - go on it, people do cancel.

04-25-2008, 03:29 PM
I was a little torn about Palo. I love that kind of froo-foo food. My DH? Not so much. He would deal and take me if he thought Id be happy.. but having friends on the cruise I feel like any time that I set aside as like a blocked in activity I might miss out on something fun my friends are doing! I HATE missing out on fun stuff. SO since my DH and I plan to take our girls on a cruise sometime in 09 (YES!) I will plan to do Palo then.

DH took the kids to the rec center and I stayed behind to pack for my girls weekend leaving on Thursday. I cannot wait! After that it's all downhill until the cruise :rotfl: We spent last night looking through the Passporter trying to decide what to do in Nassau. We were originally going to blow the money to go to Atlantis, but now we'll have 2 in private school so I think we need to cheapen the excursion a little. Anyone have any big ideas for Nassau?

Cindywith2boys
04-28-2008, 08:17 AM
I was thinking Atlatis, too. Last cruise, we just stayed in Nassau and I wasn't impressed, so I thought it would be nice to see the "pretty" side of the Bahamas. Part of me would rather just lounge on the ship. :woohoo:

Goldeelox9
04-28-2008, 08:53 AM
We are going to do a boat tour then hang out on the EMPTY ship! I have read about some people getting a cheap room at the Atlantis to be able to use thier pool. It ended up being cheaper then doing it through Disney.

domiii
04-28-2008, 09:41 AM

Shel - we have thought of getting a Passporter. Have you used it before? What are your thoughts on it? We used to buy a Birnbaum guide every trip in addition to researching here on the DISboards. We thought it would be fun to look back over the years to see the changes with the Birnbaum guides. We've learned all we can from Birnbaum guide, now it's the Disboards that we get the most info from.

Goldeelox9
04-28-2008, 10:22 AM

Chelley00
04-28-2008, 11:17 AM
I have the Unofficial Guide to WDW and I have it memorized. It was time to get something else, so I got Passporters for WDW and for DCL. I LOVE them. I'm an organizing freak, so I love the pockets and the worksheets the Passporters have. Plus, if you get the Deluxe, you get the cool binder and can take out the pages you don't want to carry around on your trip. I have mostly cruise info in our binder, but I kept the maps and tours for MK and Epcot since we'll be going there before the cruise.

Our TA told us our ressie stated guaranteed early dining. I, too, cannot eat late like that due to multiple medical reasons. I am a night owl and love to stay up late, but I have to be very careful about what I eat late at night and how much. So I figured it was just best to get the earlier dining.
DH and I would love to try Palo's but not sure if we'll be able to get a ressie as we are first time cruisers. Keeping our fingers (and toes ;) ) crossed that we do. I know the one rotation I don't want to miss is Animator's Palate. I've heard wonderful things about it. I was looking at the thread w/ the pictures of the food. It was good, not sure I'd go again. It was very good mind you, just a little out of my price range. I'd rather go to Maggianos - an Italian resturant in our area.

Happy weekend, all.

I booked DS15's flights last night (the rest of us are driving, he gets to fly to shorten his time missed at school) One more thing to check off my list!

We got free tickets to Kennedy Space Center from our congressman, so we may actually skip WDW before the cruise (gasp) I REALLY want to go to MNSSHP on the 30th because we had SUCH a great time when we went in '06, but I just cannot make myself justify $250 to go to the party. Oh, decisions decisions. It sucks being poor :rotfl:

We're all driving in on Wednesday night/Thursday morning. We'll fly DS in Friday night so we can spend Saturday at Kennedy. We'll stick him on a plane on Thursday afternoon after we disembark, then we're taking 2 days to drive home, maybe longer since we've been invited to stay a couple of nights with friends in Nashville. I hate to fly and would much rather drive anyhow. Yes, I'm a chicken

domiii
05-12-2008, 04:49 PM
How long of a trip is it? We've driven twice. Once we stopped part way and once we drove straight through. It's about 1700 miles. I really didn't mind the drive, if you have the time. When just the 4 of us are traveling, it doesn't make sense to drive - cost of gas vs. airfare!

Chelley00
05-12-2008, 10:19 PM
16-17 hours depending on how many potty breaks the little one needs. We usually leave around 4am and drive straight through. Last WDW trip we drove straight home and we were miserable. This time we are stopping and staying halfway on the way home.

I priced airfare and it would be right around $1,300 for the 6 of us, plus transfers to the port. Even with food and a hotel stop on the way down, it's way cheaper to drive. And I hate flying. With a passion. I'd have to be sedated and miss probably the first 2 nights of the 4 night cruise recovering from whatever drugs I had to take

We have the Land Sea package. We'll be at Disney before the cruise (10/30, 10/31 - MNSSHP!, 11/1). I already have dinner res. but really like to plan. It would be nice to see the Nov. hours so I can plan the last day. :goodvibes

We are going down on the 1st and staying at POP, then the cruise, then SSR until the 11th. We haven't decided what exactly we are doing on the 1st yet. I got nervous reading here that people have missed the cruise when they fly in on embarkation day, so we decided to go a day early. :woohoo:

Muh Ha Ha. Fearless leader here has been hounding the hold outs to play the fish extender game via PM. I've sucked Cindywith2boys in, (and stitchlovestink is so close!) and now I'm waiting on the others to cave.

Come play, all. You know you wanna

No I hired two 18 passenger Vans to drive us all there. If we wanted to take Disney Trans. we would have to get ourselves to a hotel that is part of the land and sea packages.

domiii
05-22-2008, 09:06 AM
We are renting a car to and from so we can pick up goodies to the ship and groceries on the way back to SSR. I found it was cheaper than the Disney transportation.

Good job Fearless leader!! The more the merrier. :cheer2:

We are paying $650 (TIP INCLUDED) for round trip service for 19 people including a stop at a liquior store on the way to the ship and on the way back 1/2 our party is going to differant Disney Hotels and 1/2 to the airport. It comes out to $45 a person, not including the kids...they are "free"!

Lisa, That isn't a bad price at all. I drink so much diet coke I am getting a free rental one way!!! It pays to keep those caps.

Hey all - Kayla leaves for WDW on Sunday for a week without us! :sad2: She turns 20 on Monday. Dom and I went in March without her so turn about is fair play, I guess. ;) I will miss her. :sad1:

I read another thread that people got upset if any one spoke about anything other than the cruise on their meet thread. Isn't the point to get to know every one? Our Christmas cruise thread went on and on people are still getting together as a result. We even designed tee shirts for every one! Just wondered how every on else felt. :confused3 If I am spouting too much, then I will stop. :goodvibes

I've only had one other experience with a cruise meeting thread so that is how I am proceeding. Let me know!

DMIL had some DVC points left over so she and a friend are staying at SSR Sunday to Friday and Friday at ASMo. Her friend's mom had so many flyer miles the air fare was 'free'. Not a bad trip! She is having her birthday dinner at CRT during the fireworks. Kind of cool to watch them through the stained glass.

Only two turtles and 4 feral cats outside.

Jacob (DS12) is leaving next Friday for a week at WDW with his "bio" dad, who has a conference in Orlando. Kaleb (DS15) will be here with me since he starts his summer job the next Monday so it's just Jacob and his dad alone. I told Jacob he shouldn't get to go on the cruise since he's going next week and it's not fair to the rest of us, but he acted like the world was coming to an end, so I guess we'll take him with us :lmao:

Hey, gang. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that we are thinking about canceling the cruise :(

We've just been trying to stash away as much savings as we can, and we ran some numbers and realized we can do 10 days at WDW cheaper than the 4 day cruise. With the cost of everything going up, plus the fact that we're going to have 2 kids in private school next year (actually 3, but one my ex pays for :) ) I'm just very nervous about spending the extra $1,000 on the cruise.

Right now we're waiting to hear back from the lady who owns the house where we usually stay in Orlando. If it's available, we'll take that as our "sign" and cancel. If not, we'll figure it's meant to be, and still cruise. So, we're just in this wait and see mode.

Either way I'll keep up the fish extender list on the first post for you since I started it :)

Watch Airtran. We had DS15 booked on a non-stop flight out of Chicago, and they changed his flight and now he changed planes in Atlanta, with only a 40 minute window. Now I have to decide to pull him out of school on the 31st so he can leave on the only non-stop flight they have that day, or let him change planes alone in Atlanta.

Or of course, I can pay Airtran $59 to babysit him from one concourse to another......

Lucky you!! I didn't plan this trip that far out, so I have to wait for SW to open up their next set of dates. I really like AirTran but lately, they've only had a few direct flights from BWI and they seem to sell out of the cheap(er) seats pretty fast. I'll also compare the fact that now I'd have to pay for the extra luggage on AirTran vs. SW.

BTW, since we're spending a few days in WDW before and after our cruise (and I really really don't want to do laundry on vacation, esp since I won't have very many days at the parks anyways) what do you do w/ all of your luggage on the cruise? :confused3 We will have 4 of our that are all adult sized so we will have lots of luggage. I'm kinda concerned about this part of the trip as I have never cruised before so I don't know how big these rooms are and how much storage there is. :worried:

Chelley00

Well, I typed out the "please cancel our cruise" email a good 25 times last week, and finally on Friday, sucked it up and sent it. So unfortunately, we won't be joining you (there has to be a crying smilie, I just don't see one over there)

The good news for us is that we get to spend 10 days at Disney! It just made so much more sense to do 10 days at WDW than only 4 days on the cruise for more money. (it's the anal accountant in me!) We'll be in the World 10/24 - 11/4 if anyone else will be there! If anyone else joins the thread or the fish extender exchange, will someone PM me and I'll change the first post for you!!!

Speaking of fish extender, I have some pirate things I bought for our FE gifts if anyone is looking for something cheap! I could even deliver them since we'll be at Kennedy Space Center the night before you embark!

I know we would be flying Southwest if we had to buy tickets now. I am waiting for them to open up to get my Future Inlaws tickets home. after the cruise they are coming to Baltimore, then staying here for the week while we are in WDW then staying for our Baltimore Reception, then flying back to AZ.

There is a good amount of storage in the rooms....Lots of room in the closet. I have been in a Cat. 10 room with other adults before. We all unpacked in the closet (haning stuff up) and in the drawers and put the suitcases inside each other then putting them in the closet. It was tight, but totally do able. We are staying DVC for the honeymoon and I plan on washing clothes (for free) the first day of the honeymoon!

DITTO!

stitchlovestink, also most luggage fits under the bed as well. That's where we stored ours.

We're flying Airtran out of Newburgh, NY. We are driving 1 1/2 for a 2 hour flight, but the price was right, even with gas! Now I just have to figure how to pack the three of us in three suitcases!! I may have to pay for a bag. We will have the washer/dryer at DVC so I can get away with less clothes in that respect. Kayla wants to dress up for Palo. I just hope she doesn't want to take a really poofy dress. The toiletries is what is killing me. I may have to be really creative this trip. I usually way over pack with the little necessities of life.

I've never used one, so I have no idea. Our last cruise, we did an exchange at a meet. Everyone who participated put in one or two small items that symbolized their state or themselves some how. For example, we put in a little tin with sand and shells from the Jersey shore and some saltwater taffy. I also included a clear Christmas ornament so people could put sand in it from where our cruise was going. Does this help?:confused3

Chelley00
07-08-2008, 10:26 AM
I'm not a vet, I was just reading other threads. I think since it's a 4 day only, maybe you could just stick to one delivery per stateroom. That way you aren't going to have to run around more than once delivering stuff?

Hello... Anyone out there????
anybody else getting excited? I know I'm really starting to count down the days. I don't want to wish my summer away, but....
I booked our airfare for the way down.
I still need to get it for coming home, but the return prices were outrageous. :scared1: I was looking to come home on Saturday or sunday.
I couldn't believe the prices!!!
I did however, find a more suitable price for a return flight on Monday mid morning... ;) Looks like we might have to stay a couple of extra days at WDW  I figured the numbers, and the cost difference of the flights for 4 of us would cover the cost of the extra 2 nights at the hotel. So to me it's a no brainer, we're staying at WDW until Monday.

Okay, all. I think I've got the first post updated with the missing stateroom numbers, and added Sheila's gang to the extender. Oh how I have little tinges of jealousy about missing all this :(

Sheila - glad you're in! :thumbsup2

Actually, I was already on the FE list (4th one down), so now I'm on twice. ;)

My sister and family won't be doing the gift exchange, so you can take them off. Too much preplanning for them.

Hey all been busy with 2 productions at the same time at the playhouse! Finishing the set for one and rehearsing the other. Anyway, we are 104 days out .... can't wait!!!!! We are almost in double digits and then before you know it we will be in single digits. :cool1:

Sheila, welcome. My DD is 20, but can give some advise about "The Stack" if your girls are interested. She was too shy to go by herself, but ended up going the last night and loved it on our 3 day.

Thank you for the welcomes. We are excited cause today is day 100 until we leave(we are doing the 7-day land/sea), which means we go into double digits tomorrow!:cheer2: Thank you for the offer of advice on 'The Stack'. I think the main concern is that they are going to be the oldest ones there. When are your productions taking place?

Wow Karen, that sounds like fun .......... and a ton of work. Are you all involved or is it just you?

All of us are involved! Dominick and I met at the theater group. Kayla had no choice. We love it and are passionate about it, so it's all good.

Dear Monitors,
Sorry about the title of the show!

That's really nice that you are all involved. It's great to do things like that with family I think it helps you get to know each other as people instead of just as mom/dad/daughter. I work at a dance studio and my daughter dances there and I really like sharing that with her. You guys must have been doing that for quite some time now then. That's great too that you have something to keep you busy up until it's almost cruise time. It is our slow season at the studio and so I am thinking about the cruise all the time right now. I can't wait until next month when things pick up a bit and I will have other things to think about.LOL

Sheila,
All I think about is the cruise!! It can't get here fast enough, but then once it's come and gone I'll be sad it's over. Where are you from?

I agree it has been great working together. Dominick and I even work on the musical at the local HS. Kayla's friends thought we were really cool parents because we 'got' the whole theatre thing. She graduated 2 years ago and we are still there. I love to share my passion with kids.

No shower yet! September 13th. That is my Mom's birthday and since she isn't with us anymore it is a great honor to have my shower on such a special day!

I am so very excited! I still need to have my dress taken in and the bridesmaids need thier dresses altered! I also am dying my crinoline slip pink for under my dress and I need to do that still! I have half of the invites made for the at home reception and still need to make the others. Oh and I also need to win the lottery! LOL

Sounds like you are very organized and ready. What a great tribute to your mom. You can borrow mine if you need some one on the ship for that last minute whatever. My mom made my dress, my bridesmaid and her dress for my wedding.

I love the idea of the pink crinoline. What time is your ceromony?

Lisa, I can imagine that you would think about the cruise alot. You are getting married on it! I was talking to my niece yesterday and she is honeymooning at Disney World and she was saying that she is more excited about going to Disney than she is about the wedding! She just wishes there were more honeymoon 'perks'. I think it is so nice that you planned your shower on your mom's birthday. That's a nice way of honoring her and I'm sure she will 'be there' watching over you. Is the ceremony actually on the ship or on the beach?
Karen, that's really great that you share your passion with kids. It is really wonderful for them when they see someone who is really excited by the arts and it's hard for the schools to offer as much with their budgets getting cut all the time. We live in Dundas in Ontario, Canada. It is a very small town about and hour's drive west of Toronto.

I am getting married right on the beach of Castaway Cay at 10am. Feel free to sneak over and watch! LOL

Sheila - you are coming quite a distance! Are you staying at WDW at all during your trip?

Wow Lisa, that's so nice to be getting married on the beach.
Karen, yes we are going to WDW for 3 days before the cruise. I haven't been since I was a teenager and Becky and Caity have never been so we wanted to have a little taste of WDW along with our cruise. We are going to be staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge because Becky is nuts about giraffes.

We are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for our Honeymoon after the cruise. I have never stayed there....I hope it is nice. There is a whole thread on the DIS boards about the hotel. I have read it and now know what to look forward to!

Oh yeah, how did the show opening go?

Sheila - It was sold out!! YEAH. Thanks for asking. If you need help in planning your three days, DO NOT hesitate to ask. It will be the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot, which is our favortie time to go! We are stying after the cruise, but arriving on November 1. We'll be heading to F&W, DM has never been!

We are wait listed for AKL. I am so jealous of you all! I doubt we'll get in being AKL is the newest DVC and every one wants to stay there! I hope we get lucky! We are having breakfast at Boma, however.

Hi everyone! Another Maryland family checking in for this cruise! :thumbsup2 Our family consists of me (Kathy - 48), DH (Denis - 47), DS17 (Denny) and DD14 (Katie). This is our 4th Disney cruise, and we are SO looking forward to it. (There is a slight possibility that my DS17 won't be able to go due to school commitments, so my DD14's BFF may be joining us instead.)

The kids have 2 days off that week, so we'll only need to pull them out for 3 days.

As my kids grow older, I know these family times will be fewer and farther between. I love DCL's family activities, although I have a feeling that my DS17 will be off on his own quite a bit!

I am looking forward to getting to know you all.:goodvibes

Kathy - Welcome!! Our little group is growing. You might be the true veteran with 4 cruises. Amen to the family time being fewer and far between! DD is finally old enough to go to all the adult places this time. We are looking forward to it.

Kathy, I put you on the list on the first page. Let me know if you want to play with the gang on the fish extender exchange and I'll update the post to reflect it. I'll need your stateroom number :)
