I'm a former CM consultant and never really got into the fancy gadgets :rotfl: so I'm going into this blind other than the infomercial I saw....

Unfortunately I already took it out of the box and tested it and then started seeing stuff about the Cricut Expressions:scared1: and thought perhaps that might be better... but it's too late :rotfl2: :rotfl:

So-talk to me.... tell me what I'll love about the Cricut.... where do you find the best deals on cartridges? (the Michaels near me only had 1 Disney one and one alphabet one and they were each $89.90.... Wal-Mart had 2 boring cartridges in stock for $64?) Are there any online stores that are worth buying from?

Any tips? Advice? I'm having a crop here next month with some friends from my scrapbook club and I'm the only one w/ the Cricut... they all want to test it and I need to know how to work it and make the most of it! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks in advance!!!! :goodvibes

Ok we'll start from the beginning.

Since you are on Mass, you should have an ACMoore. They usually run sales regularly for 40 - 50 % off. There are also online stores with great deals, but I can't name those off the top of my head.

Why I love the Cricut. Alphabets. Plain and simple. All my boys names end in -an and my DD has 2 A's in her name as well. Now I don't have to buy 5000 sheets of stickers to get all the A's. And I can change to size of the letters. I loved the sizzix but I didn't like being stuck with the same sizes all the time.

Tips and advice:
Hmmm, if your friends want to borrow it make them bring their own mats! That is a given!
Practice, practice, practice. I use plain printer paper to try out a design first.

That's all I can think of for now. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

be sure to check out the cricut.com message board. There are many people who post their creations, and many that will offer great advice if you ask for it!

The Cricut message boards are also a great place to find out about cartridge sales. Enablers post deal alerts from sites all over the internet:). I love all the special features on the cartridges....even something as simple as using the shadow feature makes such a difference in how things look.

Thanks for all the tips so far! I'm getting so excited to actually sit down and use it!!! I only have the 2 cartridges it came with so far and I will definitely get up to ACMoore this week to see what they have in stock and scope out the flyer to see if any are on sale.... I have 2 ACMoore's equally distant from me in 2 different directions-both about 25-30 min. away.

THANK YOU for your thoughts/suggestions!!!!!:thumbsup2 Now to find something to occupy my girls so I can play!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:
