Howdy! :wave2:
Welcome to the DISing Weightloss Club :cheer2:
A bunch of us over on the Trip Reports (and PTR's!) Board have been chatting about losing weight and getting in shape. Perhaps it's the possibility of Spring in the air that's motivating us :flower3: Maybe some of us have an upcoming trip to Disney that we want to look our best for ::MickeyMo
We decided to start a support group to help motivate one another. A place that we can go to and share our triumphs and struggles, goals, tips, recipes, etc. without clogging up our already "chatty" TR's ;)
Even if you've never been to the Trip Report Board (maybe you didn't even know there WAS one :rolleyes1 ), please feel free to join us and post. The more the merrier!
Why don't we start by introducing ourselves and posting our goals - whatever they may be, as long as they are health related. Feel free to post a picture of yourself if you're comfortable with that. It's always nice to have a face to match up with a name :)
If you're new to this thread, introduce yourself and we'll add you to the list. We weigh-in on Fridays and that's when we update the weightloss totals (check the following post for our list).
Let's get started!! :cool1:

Hey there, thanks for starting this up, what a great idea!
I think a lot of you will probably be familiar with me already as I am a regular on the trip report boards.
My goal is to get down to approx 145 by my December WDW/Cruise vacation. I hope to lose an average of 5-10 pounds a month. If I lose more a month great but I am trying to be realistic and lose the weight steadily and not all at once. I hope this way I stand a better chance of keeping it off! :cutie:

My name is Carissa and I'll be turning 34 at the end of this month.
http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee163/carissanboys/recentcarissa.jpg
I have three boys and haven't lost all of my pregnancy weight from my 2nd. Wait. That's not totally true. I did lose the weight two years ago, but then gained all of it back once I moved back to the states :sad2: I've since lost about 5 pounds somehow. I want to lose that additional 15 lbs as well as 20 more. These are my goals:
* Continue to follow South Beach diet (I'm on day 4 of Phase 1).
* Walk daily for 45 minutes.
* Be consistent.
* Mini-goal is to lose 15 pounds.
* Major-goal is to lose a total of 35 pounds.
* I'd like to eventually start jogging instead of fast walking (or a combo).
* Eat more fruits and veggies.
* Continue with my water intake.
Things have been going great since I began SB on Tuesday. No problems. I've walked when I was able (dh was gone for 2 days), but I'll be walking later today. Walking outside while listening to music on my ipod is my favorite form of exercise as well as the only type that I will stick with. I love getting the time alone to myself and in the winter when the sunshine is lacking, the time outside is essential to my body.
Next? :)

Okay well let's see :scratchin
My name is Lessa and I am 24 years old. As stated above I would like to lose 5-10 pounds a month until I hit around 145. That is my goal weight for now although I would possibly like to go lower than that but we shall see with time. I put on most of my weight when I started University and became completely lazy! Here's a picture of me with my two brothers this past July.
http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x292/cndnlesser/Day%20Six%20BB%20and%20MK/image101.jpg
Right now I am exercising at home as it is too cold/snowy outside for outdoor activities. I have recently purchased The Biggest Loser workout DVD, and it has been going well so far. I also have an elliptical trainer at home which I am going to try and use more often.
Once Spring gets here I plan on walking for at least an hour each day working up to a jog. I have looked at the Couch to 5K Plan and it looks interesting so I may try that out. On top of the daily walking I plan on keeping up with the workout DVD as well.
I'm trying to eat better as well, although I am a struggling pizza addict. ;) I make sure to drink lots of water every day though, even if I don't do so well on the healthy eating for the day I always make sure to get my water in.

OK, I am here. :)
I had 2 kids in 12 months, both c-sections, and never lost the weight after my second child. I didn't think I looked THAT BAD until we got our pics back from our May '07 trip to WDW. OOF! I cried, was embarrassed and resolved NOT to look like that this year, or ever again.
It was this picture from our trip last year that motivated me to lose weight seriously:
http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee143/asapien21/DSCN0371.jpg
I weighed 196 in that picture (I'm 5'9"). :sad2: I have already lost 18 lbs (it was 20, but then I ate lots of birthday cake and ice cream!!), and I would like to lose about 23 more with a final goal of 155. (much heavier than I was in colege, but maintinable.
Ironically, when I lose weight, my bust stays the same, which is another reason I don't want to lose too much. I have to buy clothes for my shoulders and bust anyway.
My current goal is to be 175 by my trip in April, and solidly into my size 10/12 cargoes. :)
I have been using portion control, which works really well for me. No food is "bad". I based it loosely on a book called "the SKinny". I recommend this book. I am losing slowly, but steadily. I just need to get my activity level up and my stress levels down. Yeah....right.
THe only problem with this "diet" is that I don't eat a wole lot at a meal. I LOOOVE restaurants with "tiny" portions, because then I clean my plate. I have gotten reall good at cooking fish and veggies, too, though DH still dislikes my rice. Oh well. He LOOOOVES my Mashed potatoes, thoug....too bad we can't have those every day. LOL

Hi Lessa :) I love your name! And that's a great picture :) I have two brothers as well (I'm in the middle).
I've looked at couch to 5k many times and hope to eventually work my way there. I love to hear about people that never use to jog and are now doing 5 miles easily.

Glad you made it over Angela! And congrats on the 20 lbs lost so far! :)
Aren't photos the most motivating factor? Seriously, that's what has gotten me off my butt. I also find it funny that as we get older, our ideal weight kind of gets higher. Right now I'd like to weigh 150, which is what my lowest was as an adult. I thought I looked pretty good then, but I still wanted to lose about 15 pounds. Now I'd give anything to be back at 150.
I think portion control is the KEY. It's a habit that I've had a hard time breaking because growing up my parents put huge amounts of food on our plates. I try to remember that when I put food on my boys' plates.

Hi! :hippie: Thanks for starting this thread.
My name is Michelle and I am 35 years old. I'd like to lose 25 pounds which would bring me back to pre-pregnancy weight. I had my daughter 8 years ago!
We have a few trips planned for the summer and it would be great to fit in to my clothes better. And bathing suits will be involved.
I go through phases with exercising but have not been doing too well lately. I know exercise is the key for me. I try to eat healthy but I do like to eat so I'm not willing to give up too much - just trying to eat smart.
Maybe we can have a day of the week where have a weigh-in and post our progress? Maybe some accountablility will help me. ;)
I will try to find a picture to post later.

Thank You, my dad got my name from The Dragon Riders of Pern books. He really liked the main character and so he decided to name me after her. I'm a big reader so I love that I am named after a character from a great book series and not many other people other have my name so it is unique. :cutie:
I'm determined to get back into jogging. In my younger days I ran track for my school, my relay team even placed first place once at a meet. I hate knowing that I used to be able to run like that and now I can't so I am determined that I will get back into jogging at least. ;)

I agree. That is VERY cool. I love having a name that isn't very common (and yours is less so than mine). I use to hate it when I was younger because people couldn't pronounce it or spell it, but now I love it.

I would love to start in this group!! My name is Holly and I am 22 years old. I am severely overweight and want to change that. I know I need to start small with what I want to lose. I am the person who says "When it gets warmer I am going to start walking" lol....:goodvibes
Lessa, it was kind of ironic that you looked at the couch potato to 5K because I was looking at that also. And thought that is my goal to start that. But first I need to start with the basic exercising..Where did you buy your Biggest Loser workout DVD? I would love to look for that and start with that at home.
My first goal is going to be 30 pounds. I don't know how long I am giving myself to achieve that goal I just want to see how I progress after about two weeks. My ultimate weight loss I want to lose about 130 pounds. With being 5'7' I wouldn't look right if I was really small..lol...
This week I have started off by eating less and not snacking as much, and if I do snack it has been veggies or fruits. Oh and I like my Nutri grain bars too...MMMM...One of those in the afternoon is good...I need to start drinking more water and plan on going out today and buying a lot of bottled water since I am difficult and refuse to drink tap water..lol...

Hi Holly! I have always read that it is healthier to lose the weight in small amounts than big loses all at once. It is better for your body and you also are more likely to keep it off that way. So it looks like you have a great and positive attitude going into this. :thumbsup2

Just adding in extra activity can really make a big difference so all that walking will be great.
I have mixed feelings about scales. I think they can be a good motivator, IF you're losing. But, when that scale doesn't move even though you're working hard, it can be depressing and have the opposite effect. I remember when I lost 20 lbs two years ago it took a while for the scale to start showing the results. However, I could tell I was making progress because I could see it in the mirror. A friend of mine was losing a lot quicker, yet I was working harder. It really got to me some days, but I kept plugging along and finally was rewarded on the scale.

I agree - a few years ago I was working out quite a bit with weights and the scale didn't budge since I was gaining muscle. But, I know I looked better and my clothes fit better.
But, I also think it is a good motivation tool and can keep you on track. I plan to only weigh myself on weigh-in day though so I don't get obsessive with it.

That is what I have been doing, doubling up. Such a pain though. I always hate it when people say they wish they were bigger up top. I tell them they have no idea what a pain it is being one size on top and another size on the bottom when buying clothes etc. :headache:

Good morning all! Welcome Debbie, Scott and pooksma!
I thought about you all last night when I was out. I really think this thread will be a good motivation tool. We went to our school play and then out for dinner/snacks afterwards. There were 8 of us at the table and we just ordered a bunch of appetizers. I didn't eat any of the fried ones and only had a small portion of the others. Usually I would have eaten much more but I'm trying to at least be down 1 pound for weigh in next week! :)
This afternoon I am going to the movies so I'll be thinking of you all when I try to bypass the concession stand.

Ok it looks like I will be the only male but that is ok.
Just think about all of the special attention you'll get being the only man
I was so excited for myself yesterday my mom went through the drive thru for the kids some dinner and I wanted a double cheeseburger so so bad, but I said "NO" and felt so proud of myself for doing it!!
Good for you! :cool1:
Yay!:cool1: Thanks for taking up the challenge and starting this thread.
:welcome: Glad to have you with us!
I went out with some friends last night that I hadn't seen in a while. Even though alcohol isn't allowed on Phase 1 of SB, I told myself I could have 2 beers, which I did and then I switched to diet coke. I didn't have any of the fries that everyone was sharing, even though they smelled good!
When I got home I was hungry, but just went to bed. I did go for a walk yesterday.
Everyone's doing great! :)

Afternoon everyone. I hope you are all doing well. Well I though I would tell you about my night. I worked..yuck. It would not be so bad, but I work in an ice cream shop.:lmao: Not really good for someone who is trying to lose weight. But we were so busy I did not get a chance to eat any. And I was working off the calories instead of eating them!! I was going to stop and have a beer after work, but I was too tired. Came home hungry, had a glass of water, said hello on Dis and went to bed. This morning went out for breakfast. Had egg whites instead.
I have had 2 diets already, so I need to drink some water!!
Hope you all are doing well today.

Even though I only got 5 hours of sleep last night, I managed to go for my walk today. I really just wanted to take a nap, but it's so nice out today! I'm also very happy that I've gone out to eat twice since starting South Beach and I've stuck to my allowed items. It's great that so many restaurants are offering low carb meals now. Had a very yummy one at Macaroni Grille today :thumbsup2

I am doing pretty well today, only consumed 728 calories so far so that leaves me about 450 for dinner which will probably be some grilled chicken breast. Have fun tonight. Just think about what you are eating. I am not saying not to get what you want....just maybe not have an app and a dessert. Otherwise there could be to many tomorrows to come. ( I only know from experience)
And order a drink and a water. That way you have plenty to drink without the extra calories.
Enjoy!!

This is what I love about my diet...No foods are off limits, and no calorie counting. It's the lazy "diet".
Only eat when you are hungry, and have what you want. If you are a a restaurant, and order what you want, only eat what you want, and not everything they serve you (If you don't want the potatoes, even if you know they are ok, and you are just "not in the mood" don'e eat them, just because they are there). If you are unsure of what you want, eat veggies and fruit. Only eat until you are no longer hungry/satisfied (not "full", no longer hungry). Wait and be sure you are satisfied....if not, eat more. Don't nibble, or eat out of boredom.
That's pretty much it.....with some other suggestions, etc. I still do things you are not supposed to do. (I sometimes eat too much, especially if it's something I love, and I am not careful about not having many heavy meals in a row).
It's been slower as I have gotten used to eating this way, but I have also lost almost 20 lbs, kept them off, and am not worried about "maintaining". :) Also, I still get to drink my coke and eat my stinky cheese and cinnamon buns on Sundays. :cool1:
I'm really impressed with everyone here's will power. I have NONE. That's why I like what I am doing....it's the first hting that worked for me in 5 years. :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Will power is a struggle for me too. Some days I have it and others I don't, most of the time I don't, thus my problem. ;)
I think part of my problem is I am a lazy cooker. I hate putting a lot of time into preparing my meals so I tend to stick with stuff that is fast to prepare or I order out, a lot of the time that is not the healthiest stuff. I'm trying to work at that though. :guilty:

It's funny how different things work for different people. Part of the reason why I like South Beach (besides the fact that it really is the way we should be eating - lean meats, whole grains, fruits, veggies, low fat dairy, etc.) is because those first two weeks are fairly strict and I can't make excuses with myself. If I'm doing other diets I tend to talk myself into eating something I shouldn't and then I blow the whole thing and give up. I really have no willpower so less restrictive diets don't work for me. Once I'm on the maintenance part of the plan there really won't be anything I can't eat, in moderation.

 I have absolutely no will power. And I am a stress eater. Right night is tax season and I work in accounting so I am super stressed.
I don't like to restrice certain foods - just eat in moderation. I try to be extra good during the week when I am home more so that on the weekends if I go out I can indulge a bit. My biggest problem is overdoing it when I get stressed out.
I went to the movies this afternoon and had a soft pretzel - no salt. This was my lunch since I had a late breakfast. I don't go to the movies very often and I like to have something to eat during the movie. In the past I would get candy so this is a bit better. At dinner I had a tuna salad plate but did share a piece of chocolate cake with my daughter.

I think the key is totally finding what works for you. I don't even follow SB 100%. I've done enough diets over the years to know what works for me and what doesn't so I've kind of tweaked it and added some things (or taken out some things) to make it work for me.

BUT, instead of fast food (DS wanted Subway which is better than his usual choice of Rotten Ronnie's) we shared a wrap and had salad. My mom told me to calm down and she told me not to weigh myself because this would happen and since I had started today that it would make it higher(( Sorry to any guys who didn't want to read that last sentence)). I think this is one of the most important lessons to learn. It's ok to make mistakes or fall off the wagon, or whatever as long as you're able to get back on track. I know I've always had a hard time with "cheating" and then giving up.

Me to. If I over eat something one day I think to myself that this day is ruined anyway - lets go all out and eat crazy all day. I am trying to remember that just because I overdo something during the day I don't have to continue the trend all day.

Afternoon everybody. Well I have started the day off right with a bowl of Special K for breakfast and a small glass if skim milk, let's hope I can keep it up. I will be venturing out to the mall tonight to pick up Enchanted and that means encountering the dangers of Orange Julius and those oh so yummy smoothies. :rotfl:

My tempations at the mall is Auntie Anne's pretzel shop!! It is so hard to say no to the pretzel sticks that smell so good!! I was going to start off hte morning with a small bowl of cereal until I realized the milk guzzler in our family had downed it before I got to it and didn't tell anyone! So I had to settle for a mini bagel. I was looking forward to my corn flakes and banana..lol..Oh well I get to have it tomorrow!! Tonight we are cooking on the George Foreman so I have no worries really about dinner!! :rotfl:

I love my Foreman grill! I am hopeless when it comes to cooking but the grill makes it really easy plus it drains out all that extra fat! It's really gross making hamburgers on it though as I can't believe all the bad stuff it grills right out of it, I can't believe I was eating that before! :rotfl:

Hi guys! Hope everyone is having a good day.
I drink tons of water but the bathroom part is a pain in the neck - especially during the night.
The mall is evil in terms of temptation!
Love my George Forman also - was planning on a burger tonight. :)
I had Special K bars for both breakfast and lunch today so I'm really looking forward to a "real" dinner.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. So far today I am doing great with the water and would really like to get in a 30 minute walk on the treadmill tonight. I can't wait for our weather to warm up so I can do my walking outdoors.
I haven't walked in forever so I really need to get up and get moving !!

Hi everyone  Can I join all of you? I have been lurking and I really need some motivation. You are all so positive!
I need to loose 35 to 40 pounds. I do pretty good with the exercise part, its the portion control. I really have trouble knowing when I am full. I hope that is something that I can learn....Right now at dinner time I am putting the proper portions on my plate. When I am done, I leave the rest of the family and go away from the kitchen. It is soooo hard!
But, I go on the computer :disrocks: and after about 45 minutes, everyone else is done eating and I have better control over myself.
I hope I can keep it up.

Welcome! :goodvibes I love that we're getting more in our group :) On Friday I'll start a list on the main page of everyone and how much we've lost.
I think portion control is something that the majority of Americans suffer from. I somewhat blame it on restaurants. They're crazy! And growing up, my parents put a lot on my plate and I just ate it (and sometimes went back for seconds if it was really yummy). I've gotten much better about it, but I'm still not perfect.
No ice cream for me today when the rest of the family did I am so proud of myself!! :woohoo:

Woohoo!! I love hearing about all of these great triumphs! Keep up the great work everyone!
I got my walk in today and I ate well. Last night I must confess that I had some popcorn. It's not allowed in Phase 1 of SB, but 94% fat free popcorn IS allowed on WW core program so I let myself have it. WW's core is basically a version of the low/healthy carb diet anyway.
I didn't drink a lot of water today, but that's because I had to take my youngest to the hospital for a procedure (and drive in Baltimore - such fun). We were gone for 4 hours and I didn't want to have to pee the entire time. But, I'll drink more tonight.

I have found, I never know when I am full, so I go by when I am no longer hungry. I eat slower, and have learned to recognize when my body is no longer "needing" food. ALWAYS harder when it's something I love.

Icecream use to be a big weakness of mine. I'd buy a pint of Ben and Jerry's and eat it in one sitting. For some reason, I've stopped buying it the past couple of years and I don't really crave it like I use to. I think living in Australia kind of turned me off of it a bit because all of their dairy products taste differently than ours. I think it's perhaps what the cows eat? :confused3
Sorry to tempt you! ;)

I did that the other day..lol...Picking up a case of water instead of pop what fun is that? And instead of a bag of chips I got cereal bars!! ;)
This is going to be a weird question, but does anyone know of a snack that has a salty taste to it that won't totally throw my diet out the window? I have been looking at sodium counts and it is killing me not having a lot of salt in my system, my cereal bars are sweet and healthy now i need something that has a salty taste that is healthy in moderation :goodvibes I am up for any ideas!!

Popcorn is a great salty snack that you can eat quite a bit of and not consume a ton of calories. The trick is getting the lighter types of popcorn and not the full butter ones, which can have 500 calories a bag. Both South Beach and WW Core allow 94% FF popcorn (SB just doesn't allow it in Phase 1). I love my popcorn!!

Yup. That's a huge thing. A trick I have learned is to have some nuts around to snack on when I start to feel hungry and I can't get a meal yet. Walnuts and almonds are your best choices (I prefer them raw - which is best for you anway). They're very good for you! You just can't eat too many of them since they're so high in fat (the good kind though).

I'm happy to hear that everybody is doing well today. I am working a 4-12 shift tonight so sticking to my "diet" should be easy as I do not have any temptations in the office aside from the vending machine and I don't carry cash so that is no problem. ;)
Light popcorn is one of my favourite snacks as well!
I know all about the drive-through. I have to drive by a Wendy's everyday on my way to and from work and it is just so easy to turn in and get a bacon cheeseburger. :sad2:

I had leftover Pizza for lunch with a bottle of water. :thumbsup2
Only one slice, adn I was good to go.
Course the SEVEN boxes of peeps and 4 liters of Coke I had this weekend during the stress binge (and upcoming AF) have caught up with me, and I am up 2 lbs. :sad1:
Oh, a hint for the environment:
Find out about the water content where you live...where I am, the water's pretty good. I open a bottle of water in the morning, refill it with tap all day, then put it on my bedside table. The next morning, I toss the used bottle into the recycling bin, and open a new bottle. Still a pretty high carbon footprint, but not as bad as opening a new bottle every time I am thirsty.

My appetite gets crazy out of control during AF (sorry Scott!) and I always crave bad stuff. Those two pounds will be gone quickly
I don't do bottled water. We bought two good-sized water pitchers when we first moved back here (almost 2 years ago) and we have a Pur filter on our faucet. I just refill those and keep them in the fridge. I don't realize how much water I drink in a day until I realize how often I'm refilling those babies!!

My family and I have run into a problem and my younger brother may not be able to go with us on this trip. But, I have already booked it all and paid the down payment and paid the insurance stuff too. How difficult is it going to be if I have to take him off our reservation or to possibly just have his spot filled by someone else. Since he is 16 i am under the assumption that we are paying full price for him so would it be easier just to replace him with another adult so we don't incur charges? I am so worried about having to pay extra money and just need to know the best way to do all of this and the cheapest way to do it, whether that be taking him off the trip or putting someone else in for him. And my aunt has been hinting she wants to go so that wouldn't be a problem there. Any help anyone could give me I would appreciated I am just so confused right now!! :confused3 :confused3

Did you book a package through Disney? I don't see it being a problem removing him from the ressie or replacing him with somebody else. The down payment for a package is $200 no matter what so that won't change no matter what change you make and you should only have to pay a fee for changing the ressie if your trip is within the next 45 days.

We ordered pizza last night. We usually order on Wednesday nights because we have to be a church in the evening and by the time we get home from work/school there is not much time to cook. I told myself I would only have
2 slices but I had 3. But, it was only cheese pizza - I didn't order meat on 1/2 like I normally would have.

Eating was good today. Back on track. Excited about weigh in tomorrow! :)
We have friends coming over on Saturday evening and we've decided to order pizza to make it easy. I plan on also ordering chicken wings for me (instead of the pizza) and I'll make a nice salad to go along with it for everyone.

LOL..I don't know if I am so excited about tomorrow's weigh in...But I believe I have lost a few....Oh crap I won't be able to report til late tomorow night!! I forgot to buy new batteries for the scale today so I guess that means I have to weigh in Saturday!! Ah man I wanted to do it along with everyone else!! I guess that means I will be late but I can get back on track next week!!
Eating went alright today!! I did get the 94% fat free popcorn today..So I plan on having some of that later!! My diet has consisted of only allowing myself like one snack a day and that is a 100 calorie bar thing, so I hope I am doing the right things. I mean I am also trying to drink more water and eat more veggies. And at dinner I only allow myself one serving of food. Since my house is mixed on what everyone likes some nights we have unhealthy stuff but I go ahead and eat it just in smaller portions than my brother  But my mom is trying to get better at making him eat healthier foods, so we will see.
With my water I have been drinking the flavored carbonated water and adding those crystal light packets to my water. So I hope that counts as drinking water..lol..It is flavored water but still it is water??
I hope everyone had a good day! Oh and my mom went and got Easter dinner tonight...What a temptation this is going to be for me on Sunday...A honey baked ham and mmmmm carrot cake for dessert. Maybe one little slither won't hurt me!! Or maybe we can do a family walk afterwards which will counteract it for me in my mind :rotfl:

I'm not looking forward to tomorrow either. :sad2: I usually go to dinner/ice-cream with a friend on Friday nights. Except this week she had to move it to Thursday night. So - I just got back from Cold Stone Creamery! :scared1: It was good but probably not the best for the night before weigh-in. I did eat a healthy dinner though. I will be happy if I am the same weight tomorrow - no gains.

Hey guys, I did well today although I did have pizza for dinner. I knew that I would be doing that though so I planned out my calories for the early part of the day accordingly. We had Pizza Hut before going to a movie and instead of ordering a large pizza to split between the two of us we just got two personal pizzas. I checked the calories online beforehand and I could have the personal pizza and two bread sticks and still not go over my calorie intake for the day. :thumbsup2 This worked out well because it did not allow me to overeat which I tend to do with pizza when we order the large pizza to share.
Not sure how weigh-in will go for me tomorrow. I have been watching my calories all week but I have not exercised. I think I will probably weigh the same or have only dropped a pound but I know I did not put anything on so that is a positive. I am going to try a lot harder to get my workouts in next week.

Last night I finished off the rest of that darn bag of peanut butter cups :scared1: And that is why I cannot have any tempting stuff in the house. I have terrible willpower at night. I was afraid the weight that I'd lost earlier in the week wouldn't show on the scale this morning, but I'm happy to report my weigh in was:
180!! 4 pounds lost!!
Good luck everyone! And just remember, sometimes it can take a while for that scale to move so don't get down if you don't see a great loss. Just keep working at it and it WILL move! :)

Also, I've only put numbers on there if you've lost weight. I wasn't sure people would want to see a + sign next to their name or "no loss". Let me know if you would like to have something besides your name even if you didn't have a loss. I aim to please! ;)

Afternoon! Well I weighed myself and I am either the same or lost only a pound. It is hard to tell as I do not have a digital scale and it is really hard to tell if it is only a small difference. I think I may invest in a digital scale. ;)
Anyways I had not expected to lose anything due to my lack of exercise this past week but as others said I was more aware of what I'm eating. I've been keeping a food journal and tracking my calories that way, everything that goes in my mouth gets tracked even if it is just a little bite. Once I hit my limit that is it for the day even if I am still hungry. I am definitely going to try and get the exercise in this coming week so hopefully next week I will have a definite loss to post!

So tomorrow def. means more layers of clothing!! Then for dinner I had a taco salad, had to skip lunch basically because I wasn't paying zoo prices for food and none of it was healthy...so tonight i let myself have a piece of candy it tasted very good..lol...Can't be doing that anymore!! Oh and I had a hot chocolate today, but if I didn't have that I probably would of been an ice cube!! I hope everyone is having a good weekend!!

Can I join this club????
My name is Amanda and I am 27 years old. I have been married to my DH for almost 4 years and I currently weigh 279.4 pounds. I have been overweight since I was very young. I'm not sure what my ultimate goal is, but I have a december trip planned and I want to feel better for it. My feet hurt so bad on our last trip because I have let myself get so heavy and I don't want to go through that again.
I would like my name being on the first page even if it has to say "no loss".
I weigh in on Saturday morning (this is the first week).
I am counting Weight Watcher points and taking classes at my local YMCA. I also plan to do Walk Away the pounds or walk outside on days that my class doesn't meet at the Y. They have Zumba classes, but they kinda feel too challening for someone of my size, so I am going to go to a beginner cardio class on Tuesday.
I haven't had a chance to read the rest of this thread yet, but I am going to go back and do so soon.

Holly, glad to hear that you had fun with your first day on the job, too bad about it being so cold though. Does the zoo have a staff room with a fridge so that you can pack your own lunch that way you are not tempted by the unhealthy food offerings at the zoo?

I know what you mean about the whole I'll start tomorrow thing. What I have done is start a journal. Each month I take a picture of myself in my bathing suit and put it in my journal so that I can see my progress/be inspired and then each day I write down what I have eaten and how many calories total, I also write down what exercise I may have done. I find that by writing it all down and having those pictures I am able to push myself to be better with my eating and it also helps me get up and exercise.

Welcome! I love that you have done all those marathons - that is something that interests me. I think it would be a good motivation to work out - having something to work towars other than a smaller size. I studied martial arts for 10 years and was in my best shape ever. I think it was the fact that I was always working towards that next belt level. I have a hard time getting motivated to exercise just to excercise - know what I mean? Anyway, once tax season is over I plan to start on some kind of program.

I do that all the time and am really trying not to. Instead of "I'll start tomorrow" I try to tell myself "Why not now?" It is hard to do.

That is a great idea! The bathing suit pictures each month would be a good place to look whenever I felt like snacking on something terrible. I go through phases with writing down everything - haven't done it for a while though. Maybe that is my problem? :)

Today was an interesting day for me!! I forgot to take my lunch to work so I had to buy some overpriced food from the zoo..lol..But then tonight we had Easter dinner so I ate the usual and maybe a little more than I should have. Then I went to eat a piece of carrot cake and felt so bad that I couldn't finish all of it!! But my sister in law who I love to death is dieting too and she said if she was going to cheat today I had to cheat with her..lol...So we agreed to let ourselves enjoy dinner tonight and that tomorrow it's back to the plan. But we didn't really go overboard too bad!
I am getting my walking in at the zoo everyday! It may not seem like a lot but when I have to walk to meet the train each time and put down the crossing bars, I am sure I m walking a lot. I am going to get a pedometer to see exactly how much I am walking. :confused3
After working 8 hour days out in the cold I come home exhausted and worn out not wanting to do anything. So I find myself going to bed a lot earlier now. When I am at work moving around I am fine, but then I come home and want to pass out!! But the money I am goign to be making to save up for Disney will all work out in the end!!
I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday! :dance3:

Welcome to monte :) An experienced marathon runner! Woohoo! :)
Congrats pooksma on the loss! I've added it to the main page.
I have not gotten back on track today, but I blame it on the leftovers that came home with us yesterday. Tomorrow, I WILL be back though! I don't think I'll have a loss this week. I'm just hoping I don't end up with a gain at this point! ;)

Congrats Pooksma! :cool1:
I started out good today. It was my daughters last day of spring break so I took the day off to do something fun with her. We were planning on a water park but the weather wasn't too good today. So, we ended up at Chuck E Cheese. I ordered a salad with our cheese pizza. I ate a large salad and only two (little) pieces of pizza. And I drank diet lemonade instead of Coke - big accomplishment for me. When Sam went back for dessert I didn't get anything. But, as soon as we got home I raided the easter candy - I ate a handful of mini Reese's cups. :sad2:

Michelle, if you're interested in doing a half, or full marathon I highly recommend doing one. I find that working towards a goal keeps me motivated and determined to reach my goal and to receive the medal;) at the end.
Check out Events/Competitions board to get advice/tips from the W.I.S.H. Team. The members are very supportive and they range from beginners to advanced runners/walkers. The WDW marathons are alot of fun...check it out.:thumbsup2

I totally know what you mean about the easter candy. The mini reeses got me twice! And after the first time I should have known better. I just cannot have that stuff in the house.

hi Carissa & Hey everyone! I want to join too, if I'm not too late. I want to lose 15-20 lbs.. At least 15 by June before I go back to NJ and see everyone. I just keep gaining and losing the same 10 lbs. over and over  . I just can't rid of that Thomas weight  and he will be 4 the end of May. I have to laugh when I read all your posts about Easter candy. I attacked a bag of hershey eggs all by myslef and helped Thomas with his Chocolate bunny. So when do we weigh in?
Also a Disney marathon in 2009 sounds like plan, DH can stay home :rotfl: though.

Hi everyone -
I checked in a couple of pages back and said Hi ! I haven't been back ! LOL ! This week already hasn't been great for me. First Easter then my Mom's birthday on Monday. The weather has been nice here in Colorado so both Monday and Tuesday I was able to get out and walk. This afternoon I plan on taking the kids to the zoo as well.
Don't forget to drink your water !!

Hi everyone!
I just read the entire thread (after eating two mini cadbury creme eggs and a handful of jelly beans) and I'm signing up! You all seem to be so supportive and that's just what i need!
I am training for a half marathon right now (as you can see in my signature). So I'm exercising quite a bit right now. My problem with exercising is that I eat like a PIG when I'm exercising. I'm ALWAYS hungry!!!! Last week, I was sick and wasn't able to exercise and I lost several pounds. Go figure!
Food is my downfall. Sweets and fast food in particular. I have such a hard time passing it all up. My hope is that if I am accountable to this group, I will be more successful in passing up all the yummy food!
My ultimate goal is to lose 10 pounds. But more importantly to feel better!
And it starts with stopping eating Easter candy!!!!

Hi I'm Becky. I currently weigh about 191 and my goal weight is 125. (WW told me my goal weight is between 116 and 134.) I actually don't care how much I weigh as long as I'm fit, lean, and toned. I don't want any fat rolls!
I've been trying to lose weight since my ex was in college. So that was 3 years ago this summer. I topped off at 205 sometime last year and have watched what I ate since then. I pretty much stayed between 195 and 200 since then.
My obvious New Years resolution was to lose weight. I weighed in at 201.8. My first weigh in for Feb I weighed in at 196, March was 190. I have yet to lose any weight for March. I have always had a problem getting past 190. I guess its a plataue or however you spell it. I don't know if one can plataue after only 10 pounds, but I have no other way of explaining it.
I'm joining because I need support in the work out arena. I know how important it is and I think I'd lose a lot of weight if I did work out... I just get so bored with it. I even change it up... and I'm still bored with it.
I do a good job at staying within a calorie range of 1200 - 1500 a day, and I do tend to eat healthy, fruits, veggies, lean protein, etc. I do once in a while have a lil treat or something like on Easter.
Here are some pics of me from our trip in 2006. I know they are a bit old... but I look pretty much the same.

http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n279/beckwhy/Day%203/DSCN0736.jpg
Edit:
I went back and read through most of the posts and saw people putting up their mini-goals. Mine from the beginning of the year was to lose 10% of my weight... so 20 pounds.

Hi Becky !! Welcome to the group. I hope we will all have a great time supporting each other !
I am going to take the kids for a walk this afternoon to the park. I am sure we will both enjoy getting out.
My mini goal is to lost 10 lbs by the end of April ! I know I can do it if i set my mind to it and follow through with my exercise and eating right !

Hey guys, hope you are all having a good and healthy day. I tried going out for a walk this afternoon but it was just too cold for me with the wind. Good thing though is that it was so cold that I jogged home and I was not dying upon arrival. :woohoo: I was outside for about 15 minutes, 5 of those were spent jogging. I know it was not a lot of exercise but it is better than nothing. ;)

Welcome Welcome to SwansLoveDisney and Becky! You are going to love this group! I know I do
So today I had to work at the zoo and I was in charge of the carousel...woot woot..lol...So needless to say I have sunburn on my face and one of my arms. But I love the kids so it makes it worth it! They are all so cute picking out which animal they want to ride on! I love it! I guess this comes along with the being a Disney fanatic and having fun just seeing how much fun kids are having!
So there is a thread on here floating around where people are posting their myspace links so I just wanted to put mine on here if anyone wants to add me if they have one.... www.myspace.com/holbol
I hope everyone is doing good! Today I got a grilled chicken breast for work and it was so tough I could of broke a tooth, so I ate some of it but most went in the trash. I don't feel like I am losing more weight this week, and I guess I might be slacking on the fruits and veggies so I have to pick those back up in my routine! If I could of skipped Easter dinner I would of been fine and probably not feel like a piece of chocolate here and there is ok..lol..last week I wouldn't let myself have any and this week I keep saying 1 or 2 here and there is ok!
Well I hope everyone is having a good week! Talk to ya guys soon!

My name is Julie and I'm 28 years old.
Here's 2 pics of me from August in Hawaii. :scared1:

Hawaii is when I first really felt like I had started to let things go. When I saw pics from the trip, I was so depressed. It doesn't help that DH and his family (that's my MIL and SIL in the second pic) are all thin as rails!
I look at my Hawaii pics now and then to remind myself of my mission!
And to make myself feel better, here's a pic that I'm not embarrased of! It's from my October trip to Disney World. For Mickey's not so scary Halloween Party, my friends and I dressed up as the characters from the board game "Clue." Here we are on the Winnie the Pooh ride at MK. I'm the one in the back left.

I read somewhere don't eat 3 hours before bed... or was the exercise? I just try not to eat after 7 pm... though the past couple weeks that hasn't worked out since I've been working short shifts and not having time to eat dinner. :headache:
Anyways... since vroom is talking about getting sunburned (there isn't even any sun here!) I'm gonna talk about my accident today also. I work in a clothing store and I was walking around straightening everything up and putting clothes back and I walk dead on to a T rack with my ELBOW... I practically spun it around.. I fell to the floor and yelped. Everyone came to my aid... It's quite funny actually. Its really sore and there's a bump there now. :(
Who knew working in clothing was so dangerous!
Edit:
Julie I know how you feel with your DH's family. My ex is a freakin tooth pick (as you can see in the pics), his sister wears clothes from the kid section, and his mom is pretty skinny too...

I always heard you should never eat past 8pm, that is probably based on a person who goes to bed between 10 and 11pm so I would say don't eat anything 2-3 hours before bed.

I've been sick since Monday, so that is the last day that I worked out. I met w/my personal trainer and he went over some good routines and stretches, which helps my PF. I use a workout journal and find that it really helps me remember all my sets and keeps me inline. I meet w/the p.t. every week and that is the first thing he looks at to see how many times I've worked out for the week and if I've been slacking he'll say, "you need a bigger water bottle today".:scared1: :rotfl:

I found out once I stopped eating after 7 pm that I stopped putting on weight. That was a huge motivator for me.
I started a new job and I have to figure out how to work on making sure I take my dinner break before 7 pm... I know that sounds bad right? Its hard sometimes because I'm a manager and you get so busy and you lose track of time. And lots of times when you are that busy you don't even get hungry.

I went to the store today and bought "good for me" snacks. Hopefully that will help me stay away from the chocolate;)

So, I am not even going to attempt to get back on track until Tuesday. But, I plan to get back into this 100% on that day - a walk included!! Tomorrow's weigh in is not going to be pretty.

You know it is funny. I am sooooo not looking forward to weighing in tomorrow. But I have to say that with everything bad I have eaten.....I would have done so much worse had it not been for this. If I did not have any one to hold me accountable for my weight I would have had more chocolate and junk. So thank you everyone:grouphug:
See you in the morning:scared:
