In a feat of superhuman strength, I turned down Dairy Queen tonight when DH asked if I wanted to go get a DQ treat!:cheer2:

Thinking about this thread helped me to just say no.

I just had to share my small victory!

I start with my trainer on Thursday. :thumbsup2

:woohoo: I would love to have a trainer, it would probably help me exercise more knowing that there is somebody that I HAVE to meet. I so wish I had an exercise buddy.

:lmao: It helped that my co-workers and I were all friends and spent every day at the beach. Out summer routine was head to the beach around 10am hang out and swim until 3pm then change for work, work until midnight, group dinner at IHOP and then repeat the next day. Also working there you are around the ice cream so much that you kind of get sick of it and when we did eat it we burned the calories off the next day at the beach.

Dairy Queen is a killer for me! Well any soft serve ice cream place just grabs me and brings me in..lol...There is a place by where my bf lives and it's called "The Cone" and they have soft serve orange sherbert! What a bad bad thing for me since he likes eating there! So I allow myself once a week it works out good! I figure as long as I get a kiddie cone it can't hurt me too too bad and it hasn't yet so I wont give it up! lol

I think that's a great strategy! If I never allow myself to have something, it's like sabotage for me. Then it's all I think about and I go overboard when i finally do have some!

There is a place like that in Toledo where my grandparents live called Penguin. They sell this blue raspberry soft serve called a Smurf. It is so delicious that I have to get one whenever we visit during the spring and summer (not open in the winter) It is good to let yourself indulge from time to time. If I completely denied myself the things I love I would never last and would end up binging.

Hi guys! I have to tell you that I turned down a Dunkin Donut this morning. Quite a feat for me! I went to a clients office and they had two big boxes of fresh donuts. Donuts are another of my weeknesses. They offered me one and I said no. Then, when I went in the kitchen later I opened the box and thought about it. But I didn't!!! I was thinking about this thread the whole time. They smelled really good though. :)

Good morning everyone. I am glad to see all the will power that is going on. I wish I had some of it. Not that this has been a bad week, just not a really good one. I have been eating dinner with the kids and then with my DH when he gets home. (I make one meal for the little ones and then one for us) I have found myself eating what the kids do not and then also eating with DH. Not even sure how it happens. Yesterday it was a half of a PB&J and apples. :confused3 I made sure I did not eat as much for dinner with DH, but how do I stop myself from eating both when I do not even know that I am doing it??

Have a wonderful day everyone.

I have the same problem as well. My dh works nights, so sometimes he doesn't get up until after the kids have eaten...I flip flop between eating with one or the other..or both like you. Sometimes when the kids are eating, I get busy doing something else, which isn't great because I should be sitting with them, but it does keep me from eating their leftovers. I don't have a good answer to this either...maybe make somethig for your kids that you don't really care for so you'll be less tempted to eat?

Anyways...I'm up .6 for the week..not a surprise, I've been careless with my choices, eating later in the night than I like. I'm stopping that right here and now, taking control back! And congrats to those of you that lost, and those of you that have been able to resist your 'red light' foods (as my WW leader used to call them), that's really something to be proud of. I hope to share something like that by next week...
Have a great weekend all!

I've lost zero this week even with exercise. Must have been the Panera bread Chocolate Chip bagles with butter, yummy. I told DH not to bring the min the house anymore. He always tries to sabotage my diets. Starting to think he likes me chunky, instead of the 108 lbs. :confused3 petite girl he married. He always calls from work on saturday and offers to bring mexican home for dinner too. I noticed if I eat that then I don't lose that week. thank goodness I try to exercise 5 times a week.

The bad: I got a Sonic Blast with M and Ms yesterday :guilty:

The ugly: I ate DINNER from Sonic today :sad2:

I don't know why I'm on a Sonic kick, but I need to stop right now!

The last week has been a stressful one at my house. My younger brother had to have a screw put into his foot. So keeping a 16 year old occupied becauase he can't go outside or do a lot of things right now is stressful :scared1: Hopefully things will start getting better in that department soon!!

Last night I was stressed so I took a de stress walk by myself lol. I didnt make it far but at least I went..lol...Since my mom would feel bad leaving my brother at home, I have lost my walking buddy until he gets over his moods. So after that soap box there, my weight has basically stayed the same for about 2 weeks now. I am hoping for a loss this week though!

Don't think like that Scott, a lot of people who join gym's are after the same thing as you, to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. They will not judge you as many of them may have been in the same position as you when they started out at the gym. In fact they will probably admire you for having the drive to take control. :thumbsup2

I'm hopping on board.... I'm Kat.:thumbsup2 31. Recently my husband (23) and I have decided to start changing the stuff we eat and the way we eat. We both gained the "marriage weight" since we are only married for 3 years its been a chubby few years! We are trying to let the nice weather get us out more but its hard so I'm hoping for some inspiration via this thread. I ahve no scale at the moment but I think we are picking one up soon. I weigh more than I'd like to admit and have no real goals, just to look better for myself. We are eating much better these days but its been a bad few weeks, too much take out and a little fast food thrown in. Anyways thats my story and I;m sticking to it!

That is a good thing though! If it isn't sore then you are not working yourself hard enough is what I have always been told. What Julie posted is true, if you keep yourself moving it helps the soreness go away faster.

Just think, soon your body will get so used to the exercise that you will be able to work out and not wake up sore the next morning. Just keep at it Scott, it will all be worth it in the end. :thumbsup2

I have been MIA for a while. I send my apologies. I'm kinda shamfull right now (I think that's the right word). I've been staying at my cousin's taking care of her dog while she is in Disney World. Her house should be named the junk food house because she literally has nothing decent eat. I have let myself go this past week. But I'm done here on Friday. I'm going to work my butt off next week even though I'm taking on a full workload.

I got my hair chopped on Friday. And the black dye removed. She didn't do the best job. I've had to make several corrections to uneven hairs. And it's still not good. My hair looks like its all dead too. :headache: I am getting used to the cut though. I wanted bangs like Reese Witherspoon, but have realized they look much more like Khloe Kardashians (which isn't a bad thing to me.

On a lighter note, I do see great success coming for me. I am more determined than ever to lose my weight! My manager is being very supportive and said she is going to schedule 1 h lunches for me so I can go mall walk (I told her I hate walking, but I'm glad for the support).

My manager also decided it was time that I start conducting interviews. I'm a bit nervous about it, for the same reasons everyone else probably is (scared of liking someone who will be bad for the company). But I'm ready for the responsibility. Our company is rapidly expanding and I want to make manager so I can take on my own store should we open one in central Florida. (Well, around Disney World or Vegas are my areas of choice.) A huge part of me is excited for something like this to come about, but another part is scared to leave my family and friends. I guess if I live in the WDW area, all you guys can come visit me! ;)

Everyone have a great day..

Well, incase the answere is yes here goes!
My name is Samie. I have 3 wonderful Children. I am 35 yrs old and my highest weight was 232 lbs, I'm 5'1.
I stareted my weight loss journey for the millionth time last Nov. 07 but have been truthful and dedicated scince January 08. I am down to 218 lbs as of today :cool1: .
I am losing weight for me..not my looks, not my Dh, not society just plain little me! I realized that though I have tried a million diets I was never really honest or dedicated and so I have cheated only myself.
I've gotten on this path and for the first time I am honestly inspired to do good and to do it as if I deserve it. (and just maybe I do deserve it so its ok to do just this one thing for me :) )I am glad I found wish because I have no one to share my journey with. No one to make me feel like they understand and rejoice in my hard work. Yes the kids applaude my effort and DH is backing me up again...but they've never had this battle soooo now I have you!:grouphug:

Becky - to you. Sounds like a rough week. I think it has become clear that we all have ups and downs. And that is ok - as long as we get back on track as soon as possible. Where do you work? That would be awesome if you could move to Florida someday!

Welcome Samie! Nice to have you join our little group. Sounds like you are off to a great start. Love your name too - my daughter is Samantha and I call her Sam, Sammy, Samantha.... :)

You know it's so important to know its ok to make mistakes or have a rough time! Don't let it get you down! It happens to almost everyone... Just pull yourself up and move on!

I work at a store called Maurices. I can't find the list of stores we are opening... But I know FL is one of our next targets!

Hi there!

I too am trying to lose weight and could really use the support from a group like this.

My name is Heather and I am 31 years old, 5 "4", and am overall trying to live healthier. I'm currently at 225 pounds and have lost a significant amount of weight in the past only to gain it back. I feel that now I have the right mindset and truly believe that this time I can do this! I've lost 7 lbs since I started on 4/14/08 doing Atkins. If there are any other Atkins people out there I'd love to hear from you! I'd love to hear from any of you! I am so anxious to start this journey!!!

Thanks,

Heather:wizard:

Well if you'll have me, help! I've fallen and I can't get up!!! j/k

My wife and I both started following weight watchers in Jan of 07 (she was the member, I just followed along. She, by the way dropped 75lbs and is now a lifetimer). At that time I weighed 313 (5' 10").

As of Thanksgiving I was down to 243 but I've since climbed back up to 256 as of the first week of April. Since then I've started exercising agian and as of last week was back to 252.

Maybe this will help get the motivation back up...

Thanks!!!

Yes - we weigh in every Friday. You can post your + or - figure and it will be updated on the first page. There is a list with everyones weekly change and net change since the thread started.

We've only been posting on this thread for a month or so. I find it to be very motivating - the people here are very supportive and just knowing I have to weigh in usually keeps me on track (except for this week).

Glad you are here!

Yep every Friday we post here how many pounds we have lost or gained since weigh-in the previous week. Since you just joined you can wait until next Friday to weigh-in if you want to. We don't have strict rules or anything, we are just here to support each other.

How long have some of you been posting your experiences here? Do you feel that it helps?

This thread has been around for about a month I think. I find that I am always thinking about this thread now when I go to eat something that I shouldn't.

Becky, your hair is so cute! I tried bangs a few months ago, too, and I couldn't keep up with them. They grew out too quickly and I didn't go to the salon often enough to get them cut.

And did you say you had black dye on your hair? You can't even tell!

BeckWhy

Thanks for the support everyone!

Bangs are a lot of hard work. I had to straighten them every day and then style them! ARGH!

My hair also grows really fast.. so I will probably be making frequent stops to the salon to get them trimmed.

Lynn: I love the hairstyles for them 50's!

I tried to get pics that showed the black, but it wasn't working out too well. But trust me, in person you could really see it!

I tried to have my bangs cut like Reese Witherspoon's, but I think they came out more like Khloe Kardhashian's! (Did I already say that?)

The bangs are cute! I have been working on getting mine to do the swooping thing to the side. Now I have to straighten them 2 ways before they work!

Kat we all have bad food days/weekends/weeks. I just went thru a bad week all last week! I was dogsitting at my cousin's house and the only food she has is crap. Let me just say my body hates me right now!

Today I was on the high end of my calorie limit (1515) but I did a 30 minute walk with the dogs and am leaving shortly for a 15 - 20 minute hike. I also did my strength training today (I had put it off, yell at me if you want, because I needed to get into the habit of doing cardio which is my downfall).

I was the same this week - still at 185. I really haven't been working too hard at it this week so I'm not surprised. I'm happy I didn't gain. :)

Great job everybody! I am down 1 pound this week which means I am one pound away from being under 200! Slowly but surely is going to be my motto. :goodvibes

Looks like this has been an ok week after all. Maybe we should keep our mouths shut (so to speak) more often. I bet that would help me with my food intake:lmao:

I did Turbo Jam this morning and I have to tell you I can feel it in my arms already. Tomorrow is going to suck and I have sooooooooo much to do. Oh well, it is worth it right!!

Have a great week end all

Great job to wirki, lifelong dreamer ( I can't wait to get under that 200 mark myself!!) and mkluvsmickey!!!

Good Job, Y'all!

I am not so good. I'm up 2.4! It's my TOM, so I'll be better next week. Sorry if that's too much info.

I missed my weigh in yesterday again. I stepped on my scale and it was definately wrong. I don't remember the number it gave me... but it was bad. I found it sitting in a pool of water.

I should be tarred and feathered...lol. i ate very bad things this week. I admit it! I have no scale to get weighed on but I did see my DR this week and found out what I weigh and it's about 10 lbs less than last time, I guess thats decent!

Hi guys! It's been quiet around here - I hope that means everyone is having a great week!

I just worked out for the first time since JANUARY 12!!! (I keep a journal) I am sure to be sore tomorrow. Hopefully I can keep it up this week.

Hi all!
I started a new program at the Y and weigh in on mondays, so I'll just be a few days behind everyone else. I'm down 2 lbs...I'm excited. It's so hard, especially now that it's getting warmer (at least here in NY) to avoid the snacks that go with the season...I won't list them...it'll just make us hungry! lol
Congrats to those that lost this week, that's really awesome!

Hi everyone. Life is going crazy as it usually does at this time of year. I took my little ones for a walk today. We usually drive to the store, but with the weather being nice we walked. Not really a workout but better than nothing right??

I'm up 2 pounds this week. :scared1:

I expected that because I've let myself go crazy since my half marathon last weekend. I'm hoping to get back on track this weekend, starting with a big hike tomorrow morning.

Ok, this is complicated! I am down 4.6, but since I was up 2.4 last week, I'm only really down 2.2 pounds. But I'm getting there!!

Good luck to all!

Just weighted in and I am still at 188.5. I have a feeling it is going to be a while till I can lose. I just do not have the will power. I mean I am watching what I eat.(more so than I used to) But still not doing what I need to to lose the weight.
I am happy to be staying the same.

Hi, my name is Laura and I would really like to join in, if thats ok. I am 5'4 and I started on my diet about 3wks ago. I was 193 and I am now 190. I don't eat fast food, or drink alcohol or sodas. I eat frozen diet dinners (lean cuisean) and I do turbo jam for my exercise. I have my daughters wedding at WDW on sept 4th and would like to lose at least 20lbs. Taco bell is my favorite and it has been very hard. I eat lots of fruits and non fat yogert, and I have cut back on my portions. This is very difficult for me but I am very motivated for that wedding and our trip. I look forward to hearing about everyones struggles and successes. Thanks Laura

Hi lauraf! I haven't been on this thread much lately, with summer and all I practically have to arm wrestle the kids for computer time :rotfl:

I have been working hard at weight loss, focusing on a steady exercise plan right now. :) Good luck with your weight loss!

And, congratulations on your daughter's upcoming wedding! How exciting for you!
