Personal injury claim

Has anyone ever taken this action against an employer or council?
I am just as the beginning of the process to do this against my council, and i just wanted some information as to what I'll be up against.
A year on from my injury at work, I am still in a lot of pain and on painkillers and at this moment diazapam again. This really has affected my life and also my families life as I am quite im moblie at times.
I never ever wanted to take it this far, but feel i have no choice now really, as I have no Job, no wages and no prospects of doing the job i loved ever again.
I'll be grateful for any info please

Jeanette, I've got no advice, just wanted to offer my support. :hug: Have you spoken to the CAB? Or one of those 'no win, no fee' law firms? A friend of mine needed advice about whether or not she had a claim against an uninsured driver and found the firm she dealt with very helpful. It went on for ages tho' and she had to have a psych evaluation as well as several medicals before she received any cash and (more importantly) closure... Good luck!!! :goodvibes

Yes I have contacted the CAB, and the lady has given me three phone number of lawyers that deal with this type of claim. I'm guessing that this will drag on for years though! I have recently had an MRI scan and have my appt with the back pain specialist to discuss the results on the 26th March.

I remember my friend had to keep details of everything. From dates of Dr/specialist appointments to lists of medication she'd been taking as a result of the accident. She kept a log of all phone calls, letters and emails to the insurers and had a file about 2' thick!!!

Make a cuppa, sit down, maybe write down what you want to say and call the lawyers to see what they have to say. The sooner you do it, the easier it'll be to get your case underway. It'll be a long road BUT like I said about my friend, it's the closure that's important. You really need that, Jeanette... :hug: :hug: :hug:

Luckily I have kept all my appt letters, occy health letters and copies of all my sick notes and letter for the councelling i had after the incident.

What about keeping a diary and make notes of how you are feeling each day and how this is affecting your life and the others around you.

Here's a couple of links that might help:

The Court Service www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk

Don't let the 'legalese' put you off. The solicitors will be able to tell you if you have a good claim and will guide you through it all and do the vast majority of the work. They will gather together all the info you have, obtain medical reports, prepare witness statements etc.

If it happened to me, I wouldn't hesitate to make a claim.

Incidently, you have three years from the date of the incident/accident in which to make the claim (this can be extended under certain circumstances).
