We are planning to go the end of April. From all you have said, Vistana Villages seems to be the place to go with our family of 7. However-- are they still overbooking and turning people away? I would hate to be left in the lurch with all the kids. Thanks!

Hi -

if you go back a page or so, you'll read a thread about this "caution/overbooking at Vistana Villages". This was a one time incident and there has been steps taken by upper mgmt to avoid this from happening again. If you haven't made your ressies, I'd do so ASAP.

I'm still going to stay there next month April 19-28th. You cannot let one bad experience squash your vacation plans, I'm sure things will be fine. :) This could have happened anywhere at any resort, but unfortunately it had to be our favorite choice - if you're already booked and deposited, what else can you do? Have faith.....have fun...:)

just returned with no overbooking problem but I have heard it happens there. If you can stop in early on your check in day and get pre registered then keep calling until they say the room is ready

Thanks for the encouragement! We will arrive as early as possible to check in. Would it help to call early in the morning and say we are on our way?
We stayed at Old Key West before and really enjoyed the spacious, clean rooms. How do these villas compare to OKW? Do they really look like the pictures? Is there daily maid service?

I don't know if they are overbooking, but when I was there 4/3 there were anumber of very unhappy people there at 4 pm check-in who were told there were no rooms available despite reservations, and they had to check back a 6 pm to see if there were rooms then. Luckily, I got there at noon, and had a room by 2;30.

Yes there is daily maid service, we had gone out and left a couple glasses in the sink. They put them in the dishwasher and ran it for us. It surely wont hurt to call that morning. I have never been to OKW but will say Vistanas rooms are very nice. Our unit was in excellent shape and very clean. Bed was comfortable and we called for extra pillows & a blanket which they brought promptly. As I remember we called around 10 at night. I am sure you will like it. The landscaping was beautiful and someone always seemed to be working on it. If you need pool towels they have them at the activities counter by the deli.

About the only difference that OKW might have over the 2 bedroom units at VV is that the beds in the 2nd room are queen sized. The newness of the VV resort, the screened-in porches, and pool area are huge pluses for VV. We are DVC owners and have stayed 6 times at OKW. Our stay at VV for 10 nights in January was just as enjoyable as any stay that we have ever experenced at OKW. Both are excellent resorts.
