A request :)

Hi all... I have a request, if anyone still designing has the time. My family would love for me to make T-shirts with their names on them... the ones where the name is spelled using the "bubble" type font and there is a Disney design inside of the letters. I have seen several threads with lists of names, but my kids have names that are not very common, so it is hard to find any already made up. If anyone has time and would be willing to do so, I will post the names, and what they would like in the backgrounds (if available).

Just one more question... how do you transfer these? Would you use light or dark paper so that the white around the letters doesn't show up? Or would you cut out each letter individually? Also, will they need to be reversed before I print them?

Michelle... yours are wonderful too! Sadly because of the unique spelling of most of our names, I don't see any on your page that I can use. ;) I got excited because I thought I saw my name on one of your pages in an AWESOME Eeyore print (I love Eeyore), but it wasn't, it was "TANA" not "TANYA".

I need to find a better picture to use for Alyssa's name... she really likes Jane and was put out that more of Jane's face wasn't visible in her name. Ariana would have liked more lions visible in her's too.... The name art is gorgeous, just my pictures weren't the best.

OK, I think I have figured out how to do this in Microsoft Word, using Word Art. I really like how it looks in Word, and it prints out well, but for some reason when I try to take the image out of Word to copy and paste into an email or upload to Photobucket, it gets all grainy looking on me... hmmmm :confused3

If you have one you like, Michelle will personalize them for you. I'm not very good at doing them yet. I have only done a few. I just did yours because no one answered your request and I needed the practice. If you look through Michelles and see something you like better than what I did, just request it in her thread and she will be more likely to see it.

I love yours, I think you are very good at it!! I am convinced the small amount of "Hmmmmmm...." that I am having is due to the backgrounds that I provided... they just weren't right for the project. And I LOVE LOVE :woohoo: LOVE the one for my DH with Bruce staring out... that is SO perfect for him. :lmao:

Where did you find the backgrounds?! I have the hardest time finding backgrounds- usually all I can get is individual pics.

I have a LOT of them stored on my computer; Disney, movies, holidays, abstract backgrounds (undersea, tye-dye, etc)... if you need anything let me know and I can post it for you... but anyhow, for something I don't have yet (like Peter Pan 2) I just do a search on Yahoo using their "images" function. Then when it shows me the results of my search, I firther limit the results by choosing "large" for a size. Then it only shows me larger-sized images that i have searched for.

OK, let's see.. I will try to explain it.. :surfweb:

1) Open a new Word document. Up at the top, click "Insert... Picture... WordArt". Select which style of Word Art you want to use, then click OK.
2) Now a box will pop up that says "Edit WordArt Text". Select a font you like, and choose one of the largest possible sizes for font size. This may take a bit of experimenting, as you need to find a font that is kind of fat and "chunky", especially when it is large sized. Also your font needs to be all black, not white with a black outline. The picture will only fill in the black pieces. After you have chosen your font and its size, type the name or text into the box, and click OK. NOTE! Depending on what style of WordArt you selected, your text will show up on the page colored, shadowed, white, black, etc... that's OK... we can change that. It's only important that your text be all black while it is in the "edit" box.
3) Ok, now click on your text on the page... this will put a little box around it, and also bring up a little WordArt toolbar. My toolbar shows up at the bottom of my page. Look at all the little icons. IN BETWEEN the calendar icon and the abc icon is a funny looking little icon,.. maybe a pen or brush and something else?? Click on the funny looking one. This will pop up a box that says "Format Word Art". Click on the tab that says "colors and lines".
4) Under sub-heading "fill" click the little drop-down arrow on the "color" bar. At the bottom of the menu that drops down, select "fill effects".
5) On the next little box that opens up, select the tab that says "picture". Now click the box that says "select picture", and browse on your computer to find the picture you want to use as your background. After you have chosen your picture (double-click it, or click it once and select insert), select OK. Clcik OK one more time on the next box, and your picture should fill up your text. :thumbsup2
6) Just one more note, if you don't like how the picture fits into your text, or how things show through the letters, experiment with cropping your background picture a bit. It takes a bit of work (and don't delete the original, in case you decide to go back to it and try again) but I have been able to move things around a bit with some judicious cropping. ;)
7) Finally, save your project as a word document. Like I said, it will print the best and the cleanest from Word. I *can* copy and paste the image elsewhere (an email, etc) but the picture always loses quality and becomes grainy for some reason.
