I don't know why everyone has such a problem with it? My family loves it, we just giggle through the entire ride!
Anyone else???

I LOVE Primeval Whirl!!! It is my favorite ride at AK. Even my mother will go on it with me and she is a ride whimp. We laugh and smile the whole ride.

Kennywood Park in Pittsburgh has the same ride, but better, in my opinion. Kennywood's version is an inside dark ride. It's called the Exterminator. There's more theming involved.
My son won't ride it anymore because he hits his head every time he rides it, at both parks, but more so in Disney.
Just for that reason, I don't like it at AK...because I feel that they didn't use a lot of imagineering. I just don't like that area of the park. Just my opinion.

We like it too.... it is kind of like the teacups crossed with dumbo... and is a lot of fun imho. I don't really get the bashing. If they took that ride, changed the theming and put it in a different location, it would be a big hit. Hey, throw in a flying cow and call it "twister" or something...

Count me in! It's my fave at AK. Back in '04, I went on it with my youngest daughter, my niece, & my nephew. We laughed so hard our sides hurt! :rotfl2: Great attraction!

Funny thing is a lot of people don't think that area has good themeing......but, it actually has a great back story and the details that went in it are fantastic! Infortunately the themeing is not as obvious as other places in WDW and sadly overlooked.:confused3

Count me in. I like the corny theming, too. Not an "E" ticket, but fun for me.

DD and I love it, too. We laugh through the entire ride. DD is a real cautious thrill-ride type, but she loves PW- and it is hard to get her on other rollercoasters. I think the theming at Dinoland is really cool- I don't think people realize it's supposed to look like that (tacky roadside carnival). The story behind it is great- it should be made more known so people will appreciate the theming more.

I love Primeval Whirl, but DH gets sick just looking at it. Even my DD was reluctant to join me but I convinced her it would be okay. :thumbsup2

My family also loves it. We are hysterical for the entire ride since we spin so much. We purposely sit from lightest to heaviest to make the car spin more. My DD10 doesn't do many roller coasters, but this is one of her favorites and we have sometimes done it a 2 or 3 times in a row.

When we were kids my Dad would get sick when he would watch us go on rides, it didn't matter if they were big or small rides, they all made him green.

Kim, Do you remember White Swan Park? I guess you'd have to have grown up in Pgh to remember that one. They had the Mad Mouse, which is like the one at Idlewild.

Lisa, I remember White Swan. I never went there but I always saw it when we were heading out to the airport way. It was on its last legs when they tore it down to make way for the new Rt 60.
Are you still in the area? Its my dream too to own DVC at the Beach Club.

Kim, Yes, we left for a few years, but we're back now in Cranberry.
As for the Beach Club, love it! I haven't met a DVC resort I didn't like though. BCV just fits us. (I was happy at POP and Allstars too!)
We end up in Epcot almost every night we're in WDW, so it makes for a nice stroll "home."

I don't like Primevil Whirl. It's too jerky and you can thrown around. Twice I rode it and had big bruises the next day. I like the concept, just not Primevil Whirl itself. Waldameer Park in Erie, Pa has a much better version called Steel Dragon. It is faster and smoother. I love Steel Dragon, we ride that over and over. http://www.waldameer.com/SpinCster.html

Personally, I think Primeval Whirl is a joke that the Imagineers are playing on the guests. It is like a human pinball machine. DS7 and I went on it this past December. I seriously felt like it was way too jerky, more than Dinosaur. If you can believe it. The way it whips around like a tea cup gone crazy is fun for the first or second spin, after the third it feels more like abuse. We don't plan to go on it again and definitely don't recommend it for anyone that is prone to motion sickness or has a bad back.

We like it alot! As a matter of fact, we love Dinoland! DS and I go there first thing when the park opens and DH goes and gets fp for EE while DS and I ride Triceratops Spin like 3 times in a row without even getting off. NOBODY goes there first thing in the morning. We have the ride all to ourselves.
If your kids love Dumbo and you don't want to wait in that horrendous line - do TS early in the morning and there will be 0 wait.
Then after DH has his fill of TS DH is back with the fpasses and we all ride Primeval Whirl with hardly any wait at all. love it!!!

Ugh I hate primeval whirl, and I love spinning goofy rides but this one made me bang my head and I usually end up bruised in some way or another. I will never ride it again. I wish they would keep the Dinosaur ride and then just get rid of the rest of Dinoland. It seems less Disney and more tacky theme park to me. I agree with the people who said less imagineering was used there.

Wow, I can't believe how many people are willing to admit they like Primeval Hurl oops Whirl.
Seriously, even if I could tolerate that type of carnival ride I wouldn't at WDW. To me the whole carnival area is just out of place. Maybe if McDonald's wanted to attract some business at their store on World Drive it would be appropriate there.

That's what I meant earlier in this post, I think Disney should dream up their own rollercoasters, like Expedition Everest, SM, RR, BTM, etc., not buy one from "Rollercoasters 'R' Us" and slap in the middle of some blacktop.
Maybe I expect too much from them, but if I can ride the same coaster in a local Pittsburgh park, why should I ride it there when there is better stuff to do and see in AK. It just takes something away from the experience for me, since it's also themed better by the locals Pittsburghers or whoever they hired.
I guess the big picture is that is is still a fun ride. Thanks for letting me rant. :)

I'm in the fun and tacky camp! First time we rode it I laughed so hard I could hardly get out!! You do have to brace yourself tho' if your on the small side.
And to all those who complain about the "lack of" theming... Dinoland USA is full of it, from the asphalt they put down to the signs made of licence plates, the silly statues etc. It is themed to be a tacky roadside carnaval and boy does it succeed!

ITA! I listened to a podcast once that talked about all the themeing/hidden treasures in Dinoland and I was amazed!!! It was like we finally had our eyes opened. We love AK. It's our favorite park! Dinoland has a great back story. :goodvibes
We love Prime evil Whirl!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: but we do call it the "Bone Crack Ride"  It's so much fun!:thumbsup2

LOVE this ride! My DH hates it, I had forgotten how much it spins and he can't do spinning rides. He was not happy with me when he got off that ride. I didn't ride it last time I was there, but will in October.:cheer2:

Count me in the love it camp. My friend and I have traditionally ridden it early in the morning before our character breakfast reservation - we ride it several times in a row till we get so dizzy, then we collapse with giggles. Of course there is also the therapeutic game of whack a mole too but that is another story....

Well, I didn't get a chance to go on PW but I have been on one similar which I didn't enjoy. However there are similar rollercoasters at Alton Towers and Chessington World Of Adventures here in the UK which I love. They also have one at DLP which is indoor and is Nemo themed, you ride in/on turtle shells. Haven't been on that one yet but its similar to the UK ones. This is the one at Alton Towers:
