My DH, 7 year old DD & I are finally staying @ SSR next month and we are wondering if there are any new comments for SSR rooms. Now that The Grandstand is completed what are reviews on that portion of the resort. How is the walk time to the main area?

Generally favorable. Too favorable for those who really want a room there, sometimes. :)
Views are of the woods/golf course. Feature pool there is kinda small but has a sizable water play area and pool bar.
Walk to Carriage House is relatively short. 5-10 minutes depending on which Grandstand building you're in.
Check the distance map in my sig and guestimmate 5-10 minutes walking for every .25 mile.

I think its the best place to be with children...you have a pool, and spray ground, a bar that serves drinks and sandwiches and a refill station if you purchase the resort mugs..and it is the first bus stop going out and coming home.
The walk to the carriage house is very short, and actually a very nice walk early in the morning.

We were there in Nov and really loved it. The best part was being the first bus stop to and from the parks. My kids had a ball at the water play area and we all enjoyed the pool too. Our room was spotless and everything was in perfect condition. Our view was of the golf course. Here are some pictures:

We too love the Grandstand area. Our kids prefer that pool over the main pool :confused3 . The rooms are still VERY new, we ended up there for one night on our Nov trip as our flight home was cancelled. We got a movie from the community hall and had to connect the DVD to the TV, it had obviously never been used! Thank goodness DH knew what to do, I'd have been culeless.:cheer2:

I appreciate the feedback from everyone! These boards are so helpful when it comes to figuring out where in resort some of the most convenient rooms are depending on your family. We've had great rooms at both OKW and Boardwalk because of it. We are now evaluating the campgrounds for a future trip!:-)

Well, I guess kids know best. We are staying VWL in April and DS4 is not happy about it. He is demanding to stay at SSR!

I grew up going to Saratoga (the actual town, not the Disney resort) for a month every summer since my father trained horses. I've got very fond memories - it's where I learned to ride a bike. I can't wait to stay at SSR sometime, and those pics reinforce that even more.

I have stayed at all of the on property Disney villas and hands down..no doubt..SRR is our favorite. My two boys left are teens...and they love it. Its so relaxing at SSR. We really love the proximity to DTD...we love to stroll over there for shopping and eating some great food.
have a great time!

How did you like staying at OKW? We are staying there for the first time in July for a week. Then switching to BCV for 5 nights. I am trying to decide if we want to stay at OKW again in Nov. for that trip to save some points since we are borrowing for that trip. I am currently booked at SSR. We LOVED Grandstand area.....it is where we will request again for future trips.

OKW was good. We have stayed there twice. The last time we were in the buildings across from the main bus stop/guest services. Our room overlooked the golf course. it was very relaxing and actually quiet. The resort seemed full but we never heard anyone. Friends of ours had problems with their refrigerator but guest services credited them for lost food and replaced the broken unit. Just always check your fridge when you get into the room for temp settings because sometimes I think mousekeeping turns them off. We were in 2 studios.

We just got back from a stay at the Grandstand. We had the golf course/treehouse villa view, which was wonderful. Very quiet. Room was immaculate. It was our first stay there, and we love it!!!! We are so glad we are owners. We can't wait to go back in July!
Bus service was just awesome. Never waited more than 10 minutes, and frequestly less than 2. It is nice not having to share with other resorts, as the only stops are in your resort, and then on to your destination.
Walk to Carriage House wasn't bad at all, maybe 4-5 minutes. We were in the 8101-9836 bldg. Bus stop was 30 secs. Small pool was 1 minute. We took the bus to DD, instead of walking. We wanted to take the boat, but it was closed that day.
We might try a Springs room next, if available, for the DD view, but we so loved the quiet, even from the balcony.
