Last Day of Stars & Motor Cars Parade!

Saturday, March 8, is the last day to see Disney Stars & Motor Cars Parade at DHS! :sad: While I'm semi-looking forward to BPB, I'm definitely going to miss S&MC. I know it will be missed by many here on the DIS.

So, on its very last day of performing, who has some neat pics or stories of the parade to share?

And here's a funny story that happened during the parade: When I first saw the S&MC parade in 2003, the dancers in front of the Aladdin unit apparently had their eyes closed (I guess it was part of their dance?) and two of them totally bumped into each other! It was all OK, no one was hurt or anything, but it was so funny! Even the driver of the Aladdin car was cracking up!!! :laughing:

Missing it because of the elimination of the "old traditional characters"..i.e. Snow White, Hook, Ariel, Pinnocchio, Alice..etc.
I'm not even semi-looking forward to the block party, but, I will think positive and give it a look see in May.
BTW....what will they do with the cars????:confused3

Oh no! This is one parade that for some reason, we always missed. I was looking forward to making a point of seeing it this trip but I guess that isn't going to happen! :sad1:

i'm going to miss it! i'm actually going to see it today, get some last day pictures and such.

though i think once you see Block Party Bash, you will be okay with the change.

I do love Block Party Bash, so that will be alright. Maybe they need to build a new park where they put all the old parades and rides the way they used to be! :rotfl:

I hate to say it, but I just can't resist. Finally! Loved it, but have seen it way to many times. The same with the MK afternoon parade: over it!

I agree - I'll definitely miss some of the characters in this parade. It's even been rumored that after today's performance, Bear (from Bear in the Big Blue House) will be headed to character Heaven forever. :sad2: Not only that, but S&MC had plenty of other characters you didn't see anywhere else (Sweetums, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Hades, Cruella, plus the Fab Five in special outfits) . . . I highly doubt we'll be seeing any of those characters again anytime soon after the parade ends! :sad2: It seems like once this parade is gone, the only characters left in DHS will be from Disney Channel and Pixar.

About the cars, I heard they might be headed to Disneyland Paris, but I'm not sure.

I received a call from someone who was watching parade just as it ended today down by Star Tours and she held up the phone so I could hear all of the cheers as it went backstage.:sad1: :sad1: That parade was very special to us. We made A LOT of friends from watching so many times. But the good thing, is we still have those friends even after DSMC is gone. :grouphug:

We were there for the last show yesterday and my kids (DS 11 and DD 7) decided to make a sign that read: Thanks for a great parade and they drew some pics on it. We got spots at the begining of the route and some CM's spoted the sign and got very emotional. They told us to walk with them at the end of the parade. We did and at the end Pluto took a pics with the sign and the kids, and then the kids gave Pluto the sign to take backstage. Alot of CM's were crying and hugging each other. I was told that the parade is now going to Paris.

I'm so disappointed this parade is going away before I got to see it! My kids would have loved all the cars! Oh well...at least I can skip BPB on our trip as we have it here in CA. Thanks for the pics, i'm sure we missed a really good parade!

Can't wait to hear the feedback on the "new" (improved?:rotfl: ) parade.

Guess I'm in the minority here...but...IMHO..I have found in the past that "audience participation" parades dont flow, stagger slowly down the street and are very boring for those of us waiting & watching.:rolleyes1
No flames please, but, I also dont need strangers in my memory photos of WDW either...:upsidedow

I will also miss this parade. Our last trip was the first time that we saw it and it was a great time for us.

R2D2 wished me a Happy Birthday! He stopped right in front of me, wiggled and made his 'noises'. It was so shocked that "he" could see my birthday button. That was absolute magic for my DS who is a HUGE SW fanatic (along with his Mom)

This Feb was "maybe" the second time seeing S&MC and we had a great view. I'm glad we caught it before it ended and I'm glad I taped the whole parade this year. After seeing picks of BPB I was glad to hear that it was a new parade that was coming and not a celebration for the new Pixar-Themed ride at DHS. That parade looks awesome!

I will miss the SW portion of S&MC the most :sad1:

That was your kids?!?! omg that sign choked me up! i took a picture that didn't turn out and was talking with my friends about it. that sign was the best part of the last parade! we were all sad that they didn't do anything extra special for the last parade. Thanx for that little something extra!!!

I don't think DIsney wants to do anything special in occasions like this in front of guests. I don't know why? I do think they have a special wrap party for them backstage, or at least I hope they do. Our family enjoy the parks and most of all, the awesome CM's that work during awful heat, torrential rain, cold weather, and I think they don't get aknowledge as they should.
Remember that the Epcot's 25th ann. was just going to be something for CM's and because of a high school kid they ended up doing something.
I'm glad we could just do something special for them, and hopefully it will speak of everyones appreciation. :goodvibes

the entertainment people got a special wrap party but those of us who do crowd control for DSMC day in and day out didn't get to do anything. it was sad. after the parade everyone had to go straight to get ready for fantasmic. i'm glad i was just watching that day.

Actually BPB premiered on Sunday (pics and videos here (http://www.laughingplace.com/Lotion-View-586.asp) and here (http://www.wdwinfo.com/Photos/Block-Party-Bash/index.htm)). Now through Friday it's in soft opening mode (merely meaning that if minor changes or cancellations need to be made, they can). It "officially" debuts Friday the 14th.

I agree about the parade participation . . . I'm fine with show stops (like they used to do at MK), but I'm not quite sure about how I'll like BPB's "hyper" mood.

so far the soft opening is getting great success with the "hyper" mode. i haven't heard many complaints, expect for the people who weren't in an area where the parade stops. Sucked for them.
