I am debating a trip to Disney with my mom...we have an opportunity for free accomodations.
I'm just wondering though, what can we do there that is not too expensive. I mean we don't really want to wander around the parks all day, too expensive and not really of interest, and we are content to just relax around the pool for some of the days, but as our hotel would be the Swan and Dolphin and we'll have no car...what can we do that doesn't cost too much?
Is there shopping that we can go to?
Thanks!

Low cost/Free ideas:
because you're at the Swan...
1. check out the Boardwalk at night - lots going on
2. Jellyrolls at the Boardwalk ($10- cover but DEFINATELY worth it!!!)
other ideas:
hop a bus to Downtown Disney to shop
check out the other hotels
Have fun!

I think a perfect thing to do is to head over to the GF resort to the Gardenview Tea Lounge. You can just get tea and dessert or have a full tea time experience. It's supposed to be lovely there. I'm planning to have my wedding luncheon there!!
Also, head over to the bar/lounge at the Polynesian-I can't remember the name of the singer who performs there, but he is really good and it makes for a very relaxing environment!

I'm really interested in these replies.
My DD and I will be going to SSR in September 2009 or our first trip on our own. We're flying from the UK and are already busing planning our trip despite it being 18 months away!
Thanks for the tips so far!

We're going to WDW with our newlywed daughter and son-in-law My son-in-law and husband are going golfing together and my daughter and I planned a special day at the spa, shopping and lunch. We have not been in Disney with her since she was 17 so this will be a nice girls day out! Maybe even a stop at Ghiradelli for an ice cream sundae and some people watching!

My daughter and I like go to the movies at Disney's west side when we go. It sounds silly, I know, but we have a drink, wander around the area, and go see a movie. It's a huge theater, we love movies, and there is always everything we want to see there.

Be sure to head over to the lounge at POR tuesday through saturday to see Bob Jackson. He is amaaaaaazing!
Or if you guys are up for a little bit of competition check out one of the mini-golf courses! You are never too old for that!

I second the vote for tea - it's a must do for me every trip!
I would also spend lots of time at world showcase in Epcot - tons of fun shopping, munching, etc to do there.
