We have AP's buy Grandmaw needs 8 day park hoppers. We have a split stay3 days at AKV and 6 days at BCV. How do I handle getting the park tickets on her room key? Get all 8 days on an independent ticket and room keys separate?

I would suggest she buy a 8 day parkhopper independently unless she really needs it on her room key.

Can you buy tickets for grandma at the front desk and have them put
it on her key.

Will they transfer the rest of the days over to her BCV key, from the AKV key?

You may find a CM willing to do that, but they are not supposed to transfer partially used tickets.

It would probably be less confusing to keep the tickets separate from the room keys, rather than have to constantly use one room key for room entry and charging, and a second for park entry.

Op is talking about his grandma....no AP.

I missed the split stay part:headache:

I just used my old room key.....I just had to keep checking the dates to make
sure I used the right one.....no biggie.

No I was asking: Are the APs ALSO separate from room keys, or do they incorporate it into your room key with each visit?

They are their own ticket you bring back with you each trip. They cannot be put on your room key. Even though I wish they would.

I am going to write something on old room key in permenant ink to make it easy to identify.

AP's cannot be put on room keys. The resorts don't sell or process AP's.
