I have Photoshop Elements and I want to do a Gradient effect with text. For example write the word princess and do a pink gradient. I know where the Text effect tools are, but I can only get the gradient in the default color of light blueish-green.
Is there a way to get it in my own color. I am so stumped by this.
Thank you

I have PSE 5.0 and Windows XP. I create the gradient on it's own layer by using the gradient tool and the color picker. Make sure your graident is the layer just above the text you want to apply the gradient to. Then go to your layer menu up on top and select "Group with previous" and Voila!
Hope that works for you.

Great you have the same setup I do. I will go try it tonight. I am so excited to get this to work. Thanks for the help.

Okay I found another way to do it and so I will post these directions here.
Select the text you want to fill.
Choose Layer > Simplify Layer to convert the vector text to a bitmap image. You won’t be able to edit the text after you simplify the layer.
Control-click the thumbnail for the text layer in the Layers palette to select the text.
Select the Gradient tool.
In the options bar, click the desired gradient type.
Choose a gradient fill from the Gradient Picker pop-up palette.
Position the pointer on the text where you want to set the starting point of the gradient, and drag to define the ending point.
