We purchased BCV last month and received a free stay at a deluxe hotel which we decided to use this May as we already had a trip scheduled. Although we have been to WDW many times, we have never stayed at the Boardwalk Inn which is the deluxe we chose since the Poly or YC or BC were not available.

Can anyone recommend a standard room or area on the 1st or 2nd floor? My DH is claustrophobic and cannot use elevators which has been noted in our ressie. It is my understanding that the lobby is on the second floor and the first floor opens out to the quiet pool or garden area and that rooms on the 3rd floor or above must be accessed by elevators--no stairs available except for emergencies. Also, are garden view rooms at BWI considered standard rooms?

Is the laundry by the quiet pool like there is at BC?

Is there a hot tub at the quiet pool?

Do you have to walk through the lobby to get to Luna Park or is there another way other than the Boardwalk itself?

Is there usually a line to refill mugs at the Bakery like at Beaches and Cream at BC?

Our flight home doesn't leave until late afternoon. Is there a place to shower/change if we stay at the pool on our last day?

Any other suggestions, tips, reasons you like or don't like BWI would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Donna

You wouldn't have to walk "on the boardwalk" if you didn't want to go through the lobby. You would cross through the courtyard area through an entrance area over by the BWV-side shops.

There should be rooms that open out onto the BWI-side pool. It is a very beautiful area.

Garden view rooms are considered standard view at the BWI. The entire rose garden, quiet pool area is lovely and I wouldn't hesitate to request a room there.

The laundry at the BWI is inside the main building near the elevators, which means you can't throw a load in and hop in the pool.

There is a hot tub beside the quiet pool. During our two stays there we have never found it to be crowded.

We have stayed on the third floor twice and used the stairwells to get to and from the quiet pool. There are doors leading to the quiet pool area in the back of the building. Beware that there are no doors from the Boardwalk area into the hotel except those in the lobby area. Our first stay we had a room over the ESPN Club and it was a long walk to and from our room. You might want to request a room close to the lobby.

Yes, there are changing areas at the pool and the lines at the bakery never seemed as long as Beaches and Cream and generally moved faster

Actually, unless it changed since 98, there is an entrance to the Inn right behind the Flying Fish on the BW level. Much easier than walking all the way back to the lobby. :)

We had a rose garden view and it was wonderful! :)

Just stayed at BWI last month, our new favorite resort!

BWI laundry is on 3rd floor right off the elevators, there is a TV in there. But I went up to my room and sat on balcony. In total it cost about $8 to do one load (including soap)! But that was cheaper than buying new sweatshirts.

To get to Luna pool we went across rose garden courtyard (past Harbor Club) and thru the arch by game room, no problem to us.

The lines at Bakery were pretty short in a.m. and p.m. Bakery is wonderful for breakfast and dessert. They sell juice boxes (apple) which is great for kids!

We really liked BWI, the service was excellent and our room very clean and fresh. Our first day there two CM's were strolling thru the lobby and stopped to welcome my children to the BWI and said "this is your Disney magic moment" then gave my son a balloon and daughter a small beanie baby!

Also we thought the Character Caravan in the lobby was nice!

Have fun... wish I was going back sooner!

Thanks everyone for your replies! I am getting so excited about our stay there now especially since I found out that the rooms have just been renovated. I am going to call back and add a garden view room to our requests.
