Discovery Cove ID Question

I was just wondering how picky they are at DC with showing your photo id and having the name you registered with be an exact match to the name on your driver's license/photo id.

Only because without thinking I signed my husband up at DC as Rick, but on his driver's license it says Richard. The last name of course is correct.
But are we going to have problems getting in because his id first name doesn't match the name I gave them??? Anyone have any experience with this?

I'm sure that it is fine. Especially if the driver's license has a picture of him on it.

The whole ID and driver's license thing took us all by surprise when we were there last month. I can't imagine why they do this. My naivete' I'm sure. :confused3

Sorry to hijack!

But, we're heading to DC on our trip in April and could someone fill me in as to what we need to take with us? From this thread, would it be true that we'd both need our photo-card driving licences? If so, what are these used for?

Thanks for responding :) That's true, I'm sure that since his driver's license has a photo of him on it, and the name is close it'll be fine!

I guess I could always phone DC and ask them to change it on their file.

I was just hoping that maybe someone else had experienced the names not being exact, but I guess not :)

I am guessing the reason they take a look at photo ID is because it is a prepaid reservation. You wouldn't want just anybody strolling in and using your prepaid spot.

That said, I have been to Discovery Cove twice now and my name is always given as the name I go by (not my given name on my driver's lic) and I have never had a problem.

Awesome, thank you! This is what I was hoping to hear from someone's personal experience with the names :) Now I can stop worrying over these little things.
