Have you seen it - what did you think?

I just happened to mention to the family that I fancied watching it when the DVD/Video was advertised as being on sale on the TV.

Next think I know - James comes home with it and presents it to me for Mothers Day! LOL

Well we watched it and I am still not certain what I thought - I will watch it again, but I dont think it is a film I could snuggle up and watch over and over again. Will have to explore all the extra bits and bobs on the DVD though - that looks interesting.

So - what did y'all think? :D

(Think I would have preferred Emporor's New Groove or Atlantis but hey, beggars can't be choosers can they? LOL)

....... another film I haven't seen yet! The list is growing longer :( We tend to hire rather than buy - not many films I could see over and over.

(We won cinema tickets at a quiz so we will have to make time to go and see some movies!)

I HATED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think mostly because I thought it would be more like the song Lady Marmiline. The sining was really bad. The only reason I watched the whole thing is because I saw it in the theater when it first came out and I wasn't going to lose my money by walking out ;). If I would have been smart I would have just left that one and gone into one of the others LOL.

I watched this on my Virgin flight to Orlando last October (sigh) and it honestly did nothing for me. However I did think that might have had something to do with trying to watch on a crowded plane on a small screen and with a 2 yr old jumping all over me LOL

Doesn't appeal to me at all, although my brother and s-i-l keep telling me to watch it. After these reviews, I think I'll stick with my gut feeling!

I may be a bit older than any of you and that might be why I enjoyed the film. I thought it was a hoot. It was campy and had lots of little subtle 'jokes' in it. Not one of the greatest films of all time but I would watch it a couple more times to catch things I might have missed the first time around. Different strokes for different folks.

DD1 (17) saw it in the cinema and said it was 'very strange'.

I'm tempted to get the video out anyway.

I totally agree with the comment different strokes for different folks, and it applies to this film perhaps more than most. I first saw it in a very packed cinema in Barcelona where the film was in English and the vast majority of the audience Spanish. The atmosphere was absolutely electric, and at the end everyone stood up and cheered and gave the film a standing ovation. Now whether or not this rubbed off on me I'm not sure, but I loved it too , as did my sister who was with me. Later on I went again ,with the remainder of my family including my daughter, who is a great fan of singing and dancing, and this time the atmosphere in England was totally different, and I didn't enjoy it nearly as much. Finally, I too got it for Mothers Day on video, and so we watched it at home last Sun and this time I fell in love with it all over again, and my daughter did too. The men on the other hand fell asleep! :D :D :D

I loved it, but it was weird. Maybe because it was a lot different than what was expected. It certainly isn't your average musical. I think it will take a few more viewings to get it all. But the sound and color were fantastic. I'd give it a thumbs up.

I liked it. I thought the scenery was fantastic and loved the scene on the roof when they were singing "Your Song"

I think it was camped up and meant to be like a theatre production, I enjoyed it. It was a bit different

I really didn't like this film.

My daughter (13) and I went for a treat to our local multiplex (80 miles each way  ) when it came out and both hated it. Visually it was great but it takes more than that really and the storyline was so shallow - like Titanic but not so wet!

Do recommend Chocolat on video/DVD if you haven't seen it....very whimsical and nice.

P.S. Watching films on planes is never the same is it...especially on the way to Orlando!
