Had one of the best trips ever with DS. He is really working hard on his attitude and behavior. I think it's part maturity part medication. But whatever it is, I'll take it.
That's great Monica. I bet meeting others will help Trevoy stay excited about going on the cruise. I'm glad you all had a great time and look forward to meeting you both and all the other pirates too!

I noticed for those who are interested, that if you post on the WB thread and ask very, very nicely, you may be able to have someone there get you some stuff from their trip (e.g. pins) in exchange for trade back....
Are theirs different? Not sure i'd want them if i wasn't on their trip.
A few of my fellow DD Geek buddies are on that sailing.

DRAT! Kristina beat me to the conference call comment.
Oh, we all love the smell of it  .....but mostly because it takes us right back to memories of being on board! :goodvibes
Isn't it funny how smells can do that?
So M- you may not want to use the ship-poo, since it could bring back memories of your Washington DC house while you're on the TOAL.

Yanno, I though about making up a "Drink of the Day" passport booklet.
You have at least one drink of the day and have the bartender sign the passport, maybe get a picture taken with the bartender. Added bonus if you can find a different bartender each of the 15 days.
Kinda like a scavenger hunt. But different.
Should we form a task force?

Whenever I talk about money, I always convert it into how many "Drinks of the Day" that would be! For example, "If I buy that textbook that I'll hardly ever use, that would be the same as 20 Drinks of the Day."
I was planning on trying most of the "Drinks of the Day", so I think this sounds like a great idea!

CAUTION: ACTUAL CRUISE-RELATE POST
I know shocking, isn't it?
1. Has anyone besides Andrew been following the "new dining rotaion" thread? I've given up trying to figure it out - and my only real care about it is when we should book Palo dinner. So here is what I'm thinking....the night we are in PV the 'all aboard' time is pretty late, so that night should be a normal rotation dining night (i.e., no formal, semi, pirate) AND those of us on the 1 pm zip line will be cutting it really close to make it back and be presentable for early dining...SO, I'm thinking that late-ish Palo on PV night might be a good idea. The kids can eat burgers and pizza & go to the lab.
Sounds good to me!

Where it says Mouseketeer under your user name, there is sometimes a saying put there. It's called a tag. If it's black, it means the user put it there, but if it's colored, it means the "tag fairy" put it there. We don't know who the tag fairy is, but he/she shows up & usually will quote something you said, or it might just have to do with something you said/did or sometimes they just color what was already there. Also wanted to add that the tag fairy has shown up here on occasion!
Thanks. I couldn't figure out what everyone was referring too. I think Arlene or Cheryl commented that Tom31B had changed but I couldn't see any difference. I wasn't looking at the lefthand side just his signature:confused: . Helps to look in the right place.

I was going thru the pirates on the website and there are a lot of folks who aren't on the board regularly. Thanks Monica. I asked on a different thread, and the people over there said that it was only with a full package, and we're using DVC points to stay at DLH. They suggested that I post on the thread looking for extra TTMM tickets. But I'll definitely doublecheck with AAA. If we get an entry with our Hopper passes, then I'll take my name back off that list.
Here's hoping!
PS Have a great time at the DL meet this weekend!
I'm doing a little catch up, so be prepared for Groundhogs
Sorry Mike, I was wrong. I was thinking of early entry, now called Magic Mornings. Each hopper included 1 Magic Morning. The Toontown Morning Madness is only available via a package.

Must be a small town, like mine. We get those "moments" every now and then.
Not to you...but pretty funny to me. :rotfl: I needed the laugh.
Bad news for me and the Disneyland weekend Meet and Greet.
I am not getting any better with this flu I have...or whatever it is...so we've canceled the trip. I just don't have the strength to do it. Besides the fact that I am still hacking away so badly that I'd probably be tossed out or mugged by the crowd. It just wouldn't be fair to anyone around me.
I'm so sorry I'm going to miss meeting the group that was going!!!:sad1:
I'm so sorry about this. Didn't see your post before I left and didn't know you weren't making it until I met up with Chris. I hope you are feeling better. Maybe we'll get another chance to meet up before August. I upgraded us to Premium APs so we aren't blocked out anytime.

At least with boys trouble is a bit more accepted. In my case it is oldest DD. She is not very social or confident. This sometimes leads to her behaving in some immature manner. She tries to be funny but can rarely pull it off without offending virtually everyone around her. It just breaks my heart when she tries and fails. She can come across as being a brat to be honest.
Next week we are shipping both DD's off to the country for a few days. They can hang around Bill's Mom and play with the horses and cows and hopefully come back ready it hit it for the rest of the school year.
We, on the other hand, have some fun things planned while they are gone.
My DS is facing a similar issue. Last year we went through him being labeled as the bad kid. Now that I've got him placed in another school, he's doing great. But says the kids all think he's too immature. He wants to be funny but the other kids don't get him. He's not that great at joke or story telling, so it comes off as childish.

Just had to share this lovely bit of news with ya'll! My DD had the battery from her cell phone stolen right out of her school locker today. She insists her locker was locked, but there are kids that watch to see your combination. Now if this isn't bad enough, DD had her Ipod stolen from her school bus in the fall, her Ugg boots were stolen from her dance class a few weeks ago (although later returned when the thief exchanged them for another girl's Uggs). What a sweet bunch of kids we have living in this area!
I called DH to give him the news so he could calm down a bit before he got home from work. He does not take the news that he now has to dish out more money very well. Not to mention that his DD has been the target of theft yet again. :headache:

I was thinking about you this weekend. Figured you were just letting things cool off after that mess. Glad you're back around.
On the boards there were a few things -unconnected that happened all together, the final straws were a post on a thread about the 'Med' and then another 'different' post on the UK Diss. ( I was drawn in on something totally unrelated)
I conducted my concern 'off the boards' by PM and E.mail to avoid escalating it, As you say it was a mess and somethings start very small, but suddenly the snowball just seems to grow and grow and just doesn't stop.
This is a very general answer, nothing specifics as it is resolved and I would like the line drawn under it. There are unsung hero's out there as well.
What was so nice was the support by PM's and E.mails their a great bunch here and on the boards in general. And funny enough, many know of the 'issues'
But thanks for your comments.

Ok, did 5 pages, now back to work.
Just a quick note. I forgot my pedometer so I can't give you exact distances. The walk from the HoJo parking lot to the front gates is no more than 1/2 mile. At a slow stroll (which was about all I could do on Sunday afternoon) it would take 10 minutes give or take depending on traffic lights. From HoJos you have to cross 2 streets.
Popped into Harbor Cove Liquor & Gift Shop. A 6 pack of premium beer (imported) was $14.41. Domestic was $9.xx (forgot the exact). Didn't see any hard alcohol. There were some miniature bottles of Frexinet champagne and some regular size bottles of wine, Pink and Yellow. No not the colors, that was the name of the wines, you could buy Pink or your could buy Yellow. Didn't see a price on any of these. I took a few pictures with the camera phone, I'll try to post later. Not sure how they came out though.
But I don't think that any of the liquor stores that will pop up on google will be anything to suit our needs. I'm pretty sure they are all touristy hotel gift shops.

Monica, do you happen to know if there's a Character Warehouse or something similar nearby? I have a request from my DMIL for a Minnie Mouse Sweatshirt and I have no intentions of spending $50 for one. We're staying at HoJos and if we can just take a shuttle to it,that'd be great!

Are you still interested in doing a scavenger hunt?
Yes, I need to get busy on this.

Only fitting that our Irishman capture the pirate on St. Patricks Day. Did you have a Blarney Stone that keep the rest of us busy?
Good idea to check out the terminal, but not sure Laura will be in there when the WB arrives (they won't be in the entry area). Is she doing a week long one too? Someone on our thread is....
As I remember, you do a security check downstairs, once cleared you take an escalator upstairs. To the left is a large holding area with benches to sit on. Once check-in begins you go up to the counters, migrating to the right. There are some benches on the right as well. Seems like most every congragated in this area once checked in waiting for your number to be called. I would think that the waiting area to the left would be the best. We will have to ask Stacey to check this out in June.

I hope everyone is doing well. We are busy and have several WDW visits planned this year. We are booked on the first DCL visit to St Criox next January.
It look like we are staying in Baltimore for at least one more year so that means there is no way we can go on this cruise ... even if we could get a room. :sad1: We'll see for sure in May.
Blessings to you all. :grouphug:

That is so frustrating! Makes you crazy doesn't it? We teach our kids that stealing is wrong and then there are the ones who could care less.

Not that my kids are perfect, but they wouldn't think of taking another's property. I'm not sure how these kids even get away with it. Don't their parents say, "Hey so & so where did you get the new Ipod, Uggs, battery, etc?" :confused3
Thanks to those of you that offered words of support! DH picked DD up from piano lessons & bought her a new battery on the way home. Another $32.00 bites the dust, but life goes on. I guess I should just feel sorry for those that feel the need to steal, because apparently they are lacking something somewhere. :sad2:

Yanno, I though about making up a "Drink of the Day" passport booklet.
You have at least one drink of the day and have the bartender sign the passport, maybe get a picture taken with the bartender. Added bonus if you can find a different bartender each of the 15 days.
Kinda like a scavenger hunt. But different.
Should we form a task force?
Hey M.....were you ever being accused of being a genius.
Bet it all goes on again on the cruise.

B. Is anyone else like me and hoard travel shampoo, etc. from resorts & cruises? If so, and you have some spare H2O products from WDW or DCL, would you be willing to share some & mail it to me? (I'll pay for shipping and buy you a drink on the cruise). We haven't stayed on property or cruised since Disney started leaving H2O products in the room. I'd really like to try the shampoo & condition before we go because if it doesn't freak my hair out, it would save me from packing 2 weeks worth of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. I just need to try the stuff first or risk sportin' a 2-ft. wide white girl 'fro for 2 weeks.
I've been trying to figure out which night for Palo also. PV night sounds like a good idea. I'm gonna need to start calling you mastermind... hmmmm, perhaps that's what the M stands for...

Question
Any computer geeks out there? It appears I need a new backlight for my screen on my laptop. The guy at Geek Squad says it would run me about $300 to repair. Anyone know if that is accurate? Or better yet, anyone know a techy type person who could repair it for me? If it's going to run that much, I may just wait for a deal and pick up a new laptop instead of repairing.

Happy St. Paddy's Day! Did you wear green? I don't own anything green so I wore my U2 shirt today, figured they're Irish so it counts:thumbsup2!
I read somewhere on the main board that someone contacted DCL from the WB about the new dining rotation and supposedly neither repo is supposed to have the new one but rather the usual rotations.
Great pics of the DL meet - looks like you all had such a good time!
Diane, that stinks about your DD phone.
Congrats Andrew on the weight loss.
I didn't care for the H2O hair products - made my hair feel a bit greasy. I'll be lugging my normal stuff with me.

Speaking of which - I just had to comment. I was all excited when after a prolonged absence from Mass - I reappeared just in time to hear the altar server ringing the bells which they stopped ringing oh - about 12-13 years back. I remember Andrew was still under 10 when they stopped and he's soon to be 22. So I got this big grin on my face and when DD asked why I was smiling in Church - I told her to which she said - what? You are not making any sense. Is there anyone else out there that knows what part of Mass I'm talking about? Weird - how something small like that brings a smile to your face. I must of missed that part more than I realized. They always did it at the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer in Vegas when I went but I don't usually take the kids there. They stopped that practice many moons ago here in SoCal.
My brothers were alter boys. I remember my Mom coaching them on when to ring the bells. Puts a grin on my face too:goodvibes
The graduation was unbelievable..DD nows has a Masters Degree in International Affairs............

Busy, busy weekend in my world...not nearly as good as a trip to DL!
DS9 played in a 'select' hockey tournament - the best kids from each hockey club, all-star sort of thing. They got smoked, but it was pretty cool that he made the team since this is his first year as a squirt. All but one of the other players were 2nd year kids who are moving up a level next year.
AND we had an extra dog all weekend. AND we went to the Globetrotters "game" Saturday night. Etc., etc., etc.
Congrats to your DS:thumbsup2 He must be a great skater. I can barely get around the rink
Hope everyone has a good day . . . I will wander over to see part of the parade on Fifth Avenue today and tonight I will go to hear the Chieftains at Carnegie Hall . . .

Have a great week-end all

Not sure if the growing back of lashes depends on how you lose them or not. But my son went through a hair pulling phase. Didn't pull the hair on top of his head, but pulled his eyelashes and eyebrows. The lashes grew back in less than 2 months. So hopefully Lauren won't have to wait a year for them.

:headache:

Right, wasn't thinking about that. Oh, Stacey.........
We're on the June 8th cruise. Last time, they wouldn't let me take pictures inside the terminal, but I can try to sneak some. After you check in, you're sent to one huge waiting room. Mickey is there to take pictures with.....I'm guessing we'd just have to choose a corner. I can't remember if they grouped seating according to boarding number, we went ahead with concierge. No concierge for the June cruise, so I'll have a good chance to really scope out the terminal.

That's wonderful -- but I'm not surprised when you are in the company of the Captain! :thumbsup2
The credit goes to his DS. He was really determined to win something. Of course the Dream Suite would have been fantastic. But Dylan was approaching just about every Dream person he saw. When we saw 2 of them with their white vests on, Dylan pointed them out to me. I asked them if they were all finished and didn't notice that they gave me a slight shake of the head. I really thought they ignored me and actually said "Oh, guess their ignoring me". They heard me and one spoke up and said no, I'm not ignoring you, just have a job to do.
So I took the clue and followed them. They posted themselves on the bridge right behind Big Thunder Mountain. We hung out for a minute, all the while, the CMs were checking their watches. Then they reached into their bags and pulled out stacks of Dream Fastpasses. We started yelling for everyone else to come down and we all got the passes.
One of the CM's felt bad and explained that she did actually shake her head no, but I didn't see her. She wanted to be sure that I knew she wasn't ignoring us, but they are not allowed to really say anything as it might "ruin the integrity of the giveaway". She also told us that if you see them walking slowly in the white vest, follow them. If they are running away, then they are done and are trying to get away from the crowd. :rotfl:

We had a fun night. DH had class and I was having Mom Guilt when I picked the kids up from day camp. This week is their spring break & I wish we could all stay home and play. We went to Johnny Rockets for dinner where I impressed the kids by singing all of the songs listed in the tableside jukebox. Then we saw Horton Hears a Who - it was sallrite. Question
Any computer geeks out there? It appears I need a new backlight for my screen on my laptop. The guy at Geek Squad says it would run me about $300 to repair. Anyone know if that is accurate? Or better yet, anyone know a techy type person who could repair it for me? If it's going to run that much, I may just wait for a deal and pick up a new laptop instead of repairing.
now, back to catching up.....and pics from DL are in the process of uploading right now
What is the exact model number and make of your notebook?

:headache:
That's kind of sad - but at the same time this hopefully makes a good lesson for your/our kids to keep an eye on thier personal security - and to be aware that there are thieving sorts out there. Maybe right in our midst evidently.
It's relatively harmless now - and if these lessons teach our children to watch their backs and AVOID trouble in the future = then these escapades today will be tolerable, eh?

Hi Tom -- thanks again:thanks: for the pirate zone newsletter . . . I will only point out that under "sign up for beer, wine, martini, etc., tasting" it should definitely NOT suggest that we will be having a ladylike tea . . . it would take all the fun out of it!:goodvibes :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1

Thanks Monica
Just checking on you guys. :hippie:

DL Mini Meet was great. Had a blast. Thanks to Todd's son Dylan and his deligence, we got dreamed with fastpasses. He was deteremined to get something out of this trip.
I've heard there were already pics posted. Not sure when I'll be able to post pics though. ST dropped the laptop and my screen is black now, if I tilt it just right I can sort of see the log in. Trying to decide if I'll let the kids at Geek Squad look at it or send it to HP.
Had one of the best trips ever with DS. He is really working hard on his attitude and behavior. I think it's part maturity part medication. But whatever it is, I'll take it.
Can't wait to see what everyone's been up to.

I totally know what you mean about the rotations....Disney makes it almost impossible to plan in advance, but your plan sounds perfect. That sounds like a great Palo night.
And the H2O products are awesome!! I did hoard up on my last cruise in December, but its already almost depleted! :rolleyes1

Hear Hear Crew!!
Our Web Provider, JR, has outfitted this motley crew with their very own shopping cart system. (Huzzah JR!) The Quartermaster will be taking all orders for soft goods using this system. It is being configured now, and will be available to the crew according to the calendar below.
Soft goods will be available for purchase from the Quartermaster as follows:

Price is affected by colorDIY Service
Gotta have that red tank top?
you provide the item, the printer will print it.
Fabric items only, must be heat tolerant
Options: Black or White outline on the artwork, size and placementOrder Method
Pre-Sales
The Printer, and providers of special order items, give discounts for quantity. The Pre-Sale will determine what pricing levels will be set by the Quartermaster. You should consider a Pre-Sale order as a committment to buy. It would be bad for the crew to be short of funds because the pre-sale indicated a higher level of discount then we could meet. Pre-Sales open on April 28th and close on May 16th.
Order Period
Orders open on May 19th, which happens to be the same date final payment is due, and close June 10th. There are a number of intermediate closing dates which the crew needs to pay attention to:
May 31st - Last Day to order Special Order items
June 3rd - Last Day to order with check or money order payment
June 4th - Last Day to order DIY Service
June 6th - DIY Service items must be received by the Quartermaster
June 9th - checks and money orders must be received by the Quartermaster
For those members of the crew who are visual - here is a calendar. These dates have been added to the Calendar on the crew website.
http://www.graenit.com/images/QMstrCalendar.jpg
Payments: The crew may pay by check, money order, or PayPal. PayPal payments will have a 3% additional charge to cover costs. Orders close early for check and money order to allow time for payment to reach the Quartermaster. Checks made out of rubber will incur a $25 service charge and the crew member must immediately submit payment by PayPal to keep their order active.
Shipping: It appears that we can cram up to 8-10 items in a Flat Rate USPS Priority Mail box. Every 8-10 items will incur a $10 Shipping and Handling charge. Handling includes funds for tape, labels, printer cartridges, fuel, and pizza for the packing crew. All members of the crew may pick up their goods from the Quartermaster in Sacramento CA between June 30th and July 2nd to avoid shipping charges.
International crewmates may use Global Priority Mail (for many doubloons), have the goods shipped to your pre-cruise inn (inns will hold packages for you), or the Quartermaster can deliver the goods at Disneyland before we board (there's a limit on the number of goods the Quartermaster can carry). The last two methods will incur the $10 per 10 item shipping and handling charge, and goods will be delivered by July 14th.
If you have any questions, please see the Quartermaster (Esteri).

No flats, but a single bottle of Crystal Gyser, 23.5 oz was $1.95. Less than the parks but still higher than it needs to be.
ARGH! lost my post!!!
Yes there is. I don't think there's a shuttle, but it's an easy bus ride. OCTA (Orange County Transportation Authority) Route 43. It runs right along Harbor Blvd. http://www.octa.net/pdf/mar08/route043.pdf
You can catch it right about where the entrance to DL is. Not sure if there's a stop closer to HoJo, I never paid attention.
You would take the bus to Orangethorpe Ave. This drops you off right at the Orangefair Mall. Its a strip mall, not an indoor mall. The Warehouse is on the opposite side, past Micheal's. There's a El Pollo Loco, Sonic and an In and Out Burger in the area, so plenty of choices to eat. I'm sure there are others but I can't remember right now.
Mousesavers has driving directions and a coupon for 10% off.
http://www.mousesavers.com/otherdl.html
Also, we have one here locally. I was thinking of checking it out this weekend. Would it still count if I got one for you? It will still be from CA??? Let me know if you'd like me to take a look for you.

Just to cap off the evening we drove home with the top down, singing along with Pearl Jam and Foo Fighters. Yup, it's 49 degrees.
Pink or Yellow? Seriously?
No Red?
Who buys wine like that? Even Boone's went through the trouble or making up names.
Glad to see you are making use of the convertible, even if you freeze your butt off.
Ok, I was curious so I did a search. It's produced by Yellow Glen, and Australian company. And didn't notice in the store that it was sparkling.

Crash, glad to see your family is feeling better:goodvibes.
... [ed]...:
Thanks Laurie,
The kids are all much better now - almost back to normal after one day at school. Tomorrow is Juliannas' birthday and I'm glad shes all better now. I ran out to get a mess of cupcakes for the kids to mark the occassion in school.
Aside from that - today I drove our friend in for an appointment with her oncologist as shes' not approved to drive onthe freeways because she might have a siezure or similar following her surgery. And todays scans showed her renal-carcinoma has now appeared in her lungs. Since the last detection the nodules have grown from 6mm to 8mm in size - so she's been recommended to go on a medication - forgot the name but it begins with an "S" - Alicia could probably tell me but shes' sort of heavily distracted now - and all I know is our friends' medication is costing $8,000 a month - and she is waiting for a "physicians' approval" or something like that. And she's hoping the health insurance company will approve it for her. From what she says - this medication will do wonders for her if she can get it. The medication conceivably is needed in perpetuity(for life)! 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off - then repeat!
This is difficult to come to terms with - especially since my spouse works in pharmaceutical / oncology field. I'd say - it's wonderful that they have these new age "targeted" medications which ONLY attack the cancer - have minimal side effects and litterially represent some potential for being a temporary solution. However, it does seem awfully expensive - and that can be attributed to the cost of finding the medication and getting it approved through the FDA. And this medication IS FDA approved... so it is NOT in trials and being tested. It's one of the working medications that just emerged supposedly.
Frankly, driving our friend to her appointment was sort of - I can't fully describe it - difficult I guess at times. She spoke of her stance in fighting for survival - to try and gain a few years if lucky - and her dream of having a decade or ... dare she say 2 decades. This sort of conversation was hard to go through - but it is obviously incredibly hard to live through it as she is.
I guided the conversation as diplomatically as possibly - and took it to talk of our kids and her witty and amazing little boy as I could - plus we spoke of other pleasant things. It was actually a bit draining on me - although saying that must seem wimpy compared to her personal ordeal.
OK... I think I'm starting to ramble .... again. I don't know if anyone might find productive insight into my thoughts - as THAT is one reason for my spouting so much here, and also it gives me a chance to look back on my sometimes mildly confused thoughts on the matter.
At any rate - she's fighting a noble battle - and some elements are looking VERY promising - so there is hope. I - as yet - don't know anymore what the potential really is - although it sounds good to me. I met her oncologist - and she seemed to drop a brief note of remark that this was a tough fight demanding maximum support from her "community" of family and friends. I guess I already knew that - but was surprised by the remarks. They were diplomatic - but really unexpected. Now I understand what my spouse means when she says her job is really very very difficult ... at times.
...in some ways I am totally without words for how I feel now.
OK... I've read - I dunn-o - maybe 14-15 pages to catch up - and I'm taking a break for the evening now....

Ebay has a 14.1" WXGA 1280x800 screen - NEW - not pulled from dead notebooks. It comes from Canada for $133 + shipping $20 via Canadian Parcel Post - which I assume will take a month to get to SF. Don't forget that things from Canada often have US customs DUTY you'll have to pay extra on.
Also i found a business that claims they will do parts and service fix / replace of an LCD screen for $150. laptopteks@gmail.com I cannot be too sure of their service except to say they have 700+ feeback entries with 99.9% positive.
Aside from that there were 4 more listings ranging from $144 to 155 for the LCD screen alone (new).
I would assume the fix it place MIGHT use an old screen pulled from another model. And the new listings are of course without the labor to swap the screen.
HERE is a link to a page that describes HOW to remove an LCD screen - and in BOLD print atthe bottom it reminds you what the faults/symptoms are and what they might indicate. In your case you may have a faulty bulb < removable only by experienced technicians> or even ballast. NOT a bad screen. Try this link = http://www.laptoprepairparts.com/html/lcdremoval.htm
Oh boy .... Look what I just found!
Now be careful to NOT be too enthusiastic - yet. Ya never know until ya know - right...? Your model MAY be elgible for some kind of FREE fix from Compaq! This special extended warrenty from Compaq runs for 2 years from when the regular factory warrenty began. Click this link and check to see if your model and serial number is elgible for the free fix from Compaq? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01087277&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3180330# According to the page on this which I'm reading if one of your trouble symptoms is:
"...Step 2: Identify the symptoms
If your computer’s product number is listed above, and the notebook PC experiences one or more of the symptoms listed below, contact HP during the Duration of the HP Limited Warranty Service Enhancement to determine whether you are eligible for a free repair.
The following symptoms apply to Pavilion dv2000 and Presario v3000 notebooks:
The notebook does not detect wireless networks and the wireless adapter is not detected in the Device Manager.
There is no video on the computer LCD panel or external monitor. ..."
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf-JAVA/Doc/images/c01311303.jpg
What do ya think? I suspect you're MAYBE elgible for a FREE fix from compaq!???
And if NOT then the $150 tech above will render a fix for about HALF the price from the Geek Squad... maybe it's worth a try, eh? I would just verify if they are offerring a NEW screen or not - however, i suspect it's a pulled screen.

HUZZAH for the Quartermaster!
I'd throw my hat if I was wearing one.
Glad to see you are making use of the convertible, even if you freeze your butt off.
Ok, I was curious so I did a search. It's produced by Yellow Glen, and Australian company. And didn't notice in the store that it was sparkling.

Butts were warm - heated seats. The rest of us, notsomuch.
I'm still afraid of the wine. Can you imagie asking the DCL wine steward to suggest a meal to pair with the bottle of "Yellow" you brought onboard?? :rotfl2:
You're a great friend Crash. I can't say I have any insight, but as hard as it is, let your friend talk. Let her yell, scream, make plans for 40 years from know. Let he make plans to not be around past tomorrow. I'm sure she's trying to come to terms with her situation and it is possible that she can't have these types of conversations with her spouse or other relatives.
Enjoy and honor the time you still have together.

1) What's yer favorite grog? right now, coffee. I like beer, wine, margaritas (on the rocks, none of that slushy stuff), but if I had to give up all but one beverage, I'd keep coffee.
2) Do you have a favorite WDW or DL ride? What is it? Splash Mountain, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Mission Space, Tower of Terror, Expedition Everest...yeah can't decide. Oddest favorites - Carousel of Progress and Tomorrowland Transit Authority
3) What's a fond memory that 1st pops into your mind from one of the Disney Parks? holding hands and skipping up Main Street with my kids on every trip
4) What did you have for your most recent meal? Johnny Rockets cheeseburger...I need to go to the gym tonight....
5) What was the last thing you BOUGHT? herb sprinkle stuff that you add olive oil to and dip bread in
6) Do you really know how to DANCE (and I don'tmean jumping around in wild gyrations) yup
7) Did you do any sports, clubs, extra activities in high school (year book, student congress, thespian, etc.) Haven't we done this one before? Dance team and yearbook - skating wasn't a school sport but it took up most of my time.

The meet looks FUN!! Keep sending the pictures, if I can't be there I want to live vicariously. ;)
A small auction this year - only 370-some odd items. (down from 640 last year) They range from a week at a house in Jamica (with cook, maid, and pool boy) that will sleep 10. Also other sorts of trips - many parents donate a week at their vacation home (the ones that have them). We put together a trip to Disneyland this year too - tickets, hotel, the whole 9-yards. Dinners for 8-12 people in different cuisines (these sell really well). This year we had - Greek, Indian, Limoing around Napa, etc.
To the usual sorts of smaller items - hand made cards by the 5th grade, vet packages, there's a jeweler who alway donates some of their over stock, lots of wine, various services, a handmade book of poetry from the 10th grade. The teacher for the class of 2013 (7th grade this year) is a silk artist and her class always donates hand painted silk scarves or something. There was an amazing silk sarong this year that I wanted - but I didn't get it. :guilty: One of our parents is chief judge at the CA State Fair wine competition. He often donates two tickets to hang out, and slurp and spit with the judges.
There are sign up events - tamale making party with one of the Spanish teachers. And, of course, the event that kicks off the school year - the Rolling Gnomes party. (The Rolling Gnomes is a group of dads who formed a band. They're really quite good. They perform once a year - at this party.) That sort of stuff.
As I suspected - we didn't pull in as much this year, only $96K gross (not counting ticket sales). I think everyone is feeling a little pinched. But it was a really FUN night - and we all had a good time. The auction, and the Rolling Gnomes party, are the only real opportunities the parent body as a whole has the chance to get together and socialize.
.
I'm coming into this late and sort of in the middle - but this sounds like a heck of fund raiser - not bad at all.
[edited in ].... ok, i found the beginning of this - my little one awakened me an hour or so ago - an' my spouse put her back to sleep - however I found I was kind of hungry so I nuke'd some left overs an' started reading backwards again - and now I'm ready to knock off more or less. I'm down to page 120 .. so I skimmed/read 22 pages this evening. Not too bad... so, below was the beginning Esteris' osting on the fund raiser...
Oh yeah.... M, thank you for your thoughts. It helps. And yeah, I am trying to dream up new angles on new questions - but the 7th one IS a repeat - and good fer ice breaking with the newbies who joined within the last 3 months... < wink > .... and besides ... give me a break. It WAS the 7th question - and I got 3 or 4 possibly newish questions in there... didn't I?
\I wound up with antibiotics and an inhaler after my visit to the Dr a week ago. Doing WAY better now. But I was still wiped out by the end of the day all this week. So, be sure to get your rest!
My co-workers kept telling me about the engineer at our AZ campus who, got this flu, double pneunmonia and was dead 7 days later. So, I took myself off to the Dr without further ado. :scared1:
Glad I did - I'm getting over this thing faster than the folks who didn't. That's for sure.
Well, our school auction is tonight. There have been some significant changes to it from the last few years. It'll be interesting to see how much we clear. Past few years we've netted $130K - $160K. But this one is smaller - on the other hand - more competition for few items may not be a bad thing....
In any case, I'm in charge of Check-in and Check-out. Which means I've got to toddle off here pretty soon and get all the computer and credit card equipment set up.

Thanks for the info on this, Monica. You saved me a trip down there. We'll have to come up with a new plan.

:sad2:
That is a good way to look at it, Diane. It is very frustrating, and sad.
I would guess that these kids have no problem lying to their parents about where these items came from since they had no problem stealing them in the first place! It will all catch up with them at some point!

Peer pressure can make kids do things they normally would not do. No excuse, of course......but I wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason he took part.
I can remember a girl in my grade school that was very, well....odd to be honest. She was picked on so much. I can remember laughing at the teasing even though I knew it was wrong. I certainly never stood up for her. If I got the chance to talk to her today, I would apologize like crazy. I still feel bad that I never tried to stop it. :sad2:

My family, including me, DH, DD (10), DD (8), DS (2.5) and DS (1), will be joining you thru the canal! The elder 4 of us were booked in 2005, but DS's arrival in July of 2005 put an end to that. After 2+ hours on hold with DCL on 1/31/07, we secured a spot and have been looking forward to our trip ever since.
I don't anticipate posting as often as I would like with these 2 little boys around, but we'd love to be a little part of this group! By the way, I will never be able to keep up with this board, but that's okay, it's nice to see such a friendly group - it will make for a fun cruise!

I gotta save this one so Mike can see it, he's still back on page 100 +/-. We had a great time (despite missing the fast pass distribution on Sunday). 19 pirates on the POTC ride was loads of fun...
Thanks for all the planning Roger. And I gotta second the comment about the older kids looking after the younger ones, they were great. I worry about my little one since she's so good at 'working' people, but there were no problems. Sometime I'll tell you the story about her jobbing her Uncle Ryan to get her Jelly Beans.
Dunno if you've gotten the answer to this, but there's an H2O store here in SF and I might be able to pick up stuff if you haven't found someone to set you up.
Still trying to ketchup, but I've got to work today to catch up from the weekend off. *Love* being an accountant, there's always deadlines.

1) What's yer favorite grog? Lately it's a Flirtini (sometimes known as a French Martini which is Vodka, Chambord & Pineapple juice) from the 99's Restaurant.
2) Do you have a favorite WDW or DL ride? What is it? Tommorow Land Transit Authority. Adding to my answer below, one time DH & DS went back to the room during EMH. They were wiped out but DD & I were determined to stay so we road the TTA over & over again around 2am. She still talks about it & asks when we can do it again. It's the little things!
3) What's a fond memory that 1st pops into your mind from one of the Disney Parks? I have so many, but I'll stick with one. My kids had a magical moment a few years ago at the candy shop in DS where they were called into the shop & brought out back & allowed to make their own dipped marshmallows on a stick. I have pictures & they were so proud of their creations. If it wasn't for the fact that we were with my mother on that trip & she had a smoking break outside their window, it wouldn't have happened.
4) What did you have for your most recent meal? Last night I made a baked ham with broccoli casserole, mashed pototoes, and dinner rolls. Yummo!
5) What was the last thing you BOUGHT? Little wooden blank chess pieces, feathers, felt, etc. at AC Moores so my DS could make Vikings & Native Americans for a shoe box project.
6) Do you really know how to DANCE (and I don'tmean jumping around in wild gyrations) Um nope, but after a few Bahama Mamas I start to think those gyrations are looking awesome!
7) Did you do any sports, clubs, extra activities in high school (year book, student congress, thespian, etc.) I was a member of the Distributive Ed Club which means I learned all about marketing, we actually competed with other schools with our marketing skills & we were allowed to leave school early to go to work. I hated school! I'm paying the price now that I'm trying to graduate from college years & years later!

Good Morning!
Regards,
Kelly

17 March Quartermaster Ordering Notice (http://www.thepiratezone.us/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=81)
Ziplining (http://www.thepiratezone.us/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=80)
DCL or on your own? (Cartagena) (http://www.thepiratezone.us/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=74)

I really need to get some work done, but I'm thinking of clicking on some of those topics & I just know I'm going to stall as usual!

I wish I could offer you advice too, but every child is different with his/her own issues so it's hard to say when you don't really know all the specifics.
Funny to see several TTA comments....
In 2000, my DW, Mom, Bro and Sis were staking out space for Main Street Electrical Parade at WDW and I was trying to keep our then 2 1/2 year old occupied, so I took him on TTA, while we were going through the Space Mountain part, all the power went out in Tomorrowland. The TTA stopped and all the emergency lights came on. It was really "cool" to see the whole inside of Space Mountain, all the tracks, etc.

I am really worried about those teen years. :sad2:
Me too! Right now I'm just starting to deal with the early ST years and beside the occassional attitude, things have been okay so far and I really have no right to complain. But when has that stopped me? ;)
Lately we are beginning to see grades slip a bit. My DD has always been a straight A student, but I'm suddenly seeing B's & even C's on some of her work. In her defense, the math tests are just ridiculous with only about 4 or 5 answers, so 1 wrong answer means a C! DH & I went to see the teacher & she basically said, it's difficult math & some kids are struggling, she has to give small tests because the work is so complicated & takes the whole class period to complete, & it's advanced math after all so it couldn't possibly be the way she is teaching! She actually said she's been teaching these concepts for years & she always finds the kids struggle at this point. So you think she'd slow down a bit or explain things a bit differently? :confused3
Anyway sorry to ramble but this will be the first time my DD probably won't make the principal's list since starting middle school 3 years ago & it's just so disappointing! I'm afraid this might start to give my DD the idea that trying so hard just isn't worth it anymore. :sad2: Not to mention that out of nowhere fashion, text messages & the mall is all she seems consumed with these days. I'm so afraid when boys, dates & cars get thrown into the mix! :scared:

Monica....I was just going to say how great that you and
Trevoy had such a good time together.:sad2: I think peer presure has so much to influence our ST of today. All it takes is one to lead the others down the wrong path. Trevoy was probably not the leader but a follower.  Count to ten and start over again.:flower3:
That's what anyone who has met him says. Everyone sees this great, polite, caring child. Many, including family, find it hard to believe when I describe some of the stuff he's gotten into.
He was fantastic this weekend. Then this today. :confused3
I think he was just exhausted from the trip and not thinking straight. At least that's the story I'm going with. Even found him asleep in the bathtub tonight. :rotfl: I thought it was awfully quiet for too long. Found him with his head on the side of the tub, drooling. He barely stayed awake long enough to dry off and throw on some clothes. Was back asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
I agree with Cheryl. He probably wasn't the instigator, but peer pressure is a very strong influence in our kids.
Tom, I am so sorry to hear about your friend. You and Alicia are wonderful friends to her and her family. I hope she doesn't have problems with the insurance company, she is experiencing enough turmoil in her life without having to fight with them.:grouphug:

Not that my kids are perfect, but they wouldn't think of taking another's property. I'm not sure how these kids even get away with it. Don't their parents say, "Hey so & so where did you get the new Ipod, Uggs, battery, etc?" :confused3
Thanks to those of you that offered words of support! DH picked DD up from piano lessons & bought her a new battery on the way home. Another $32.00 bites the dust, but life goes on. I believe he did both Med repos. At least I know for sure he was on our August one. So I think it's highly likely that he will be on TOAL.
There have now been a few separate posters who have said Don Ducky Williams is on our cruise. I discounted one at the start as they have on occasions filled in the blanks, if they do not know. But a few now say yes so hopefully we can see him.

1 - Tequila
2 - Just one??? How about one from each coast? Pirates of the Caribbean DL version and Expedition Everest.
3 - When DS was about 6 or 7 we were at DL. We were trying to get a picutre with Minnie Mouse on Main Street. This was before they had handlers out there with them trying to make a line. Everyone was mobbing around Minnie and DS was too polite to push his way in. I said rather loudly so the other parents would hear, something about people not waiting their turn and the other kids being too pushy and we would go see Minnie later at her house. Well Minnie heard me, grabbed DS's hand and skipped across Main Street. Other kids were trying to follow her but she politely pushed them away. She took us over to the corner where the characters enter and exit, gave DS a big hug, posed for pictures, and gave him kisses. She would let any other kids get next to her. I really wasn't speaking loudly to get her attention, but rather to let the other parents know that they needed to control their kids. But Minnie heard me and gave DS a special experience.
4 - Cheese omelet and coffee
5 - Dinner last night. But as for an actual merchandise item, our DL APs.
6 - Nah. I thought I did in high school but now I can barely keep a beat.
7 - Softball, Basketball, Cheerleading

Need some help in the Underwater Camera department. First off - I know nothing really about cameras. I just like something to work and take a decent pic.
We have a few options.
1. Buy the cheap disposable ones - we've basically decided we are passed this level. Plus, I'm tired of developing the pics and seeing that they are mostly no good.
2. Buy a hard plastic specific housing for our current camera - Canon A75. The camera takes wonderful pics, but we'll be upgrading to a better zoom prior to the TOAL, so the camera will in a sense be excess to needs. We've read good reviews about the housing - it runs about $150 or so. Anyone tried one of these cases.
3. We have enough points thru a reward program to get either an Olympus Stylus 790SW or a Pentax Optio W30. Any comments on either of these? Good/Bad? I know the Olympus is a few models below what is currently available. Cann't remember which model a few of the crew on here were after a few weeks ago at a cheap price. Also, read a review somewhere about the camera needing servicing in regards to the seal regularly and that was quite pricey.
We're not going to be using it alot. Just basically on vacation and only for snorkelling and places like Typhoon Lagoon/Castaway Cay. No diving. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Gang,
Wow - the Dis Meet was soooo much fun. What a cruise we're going to have - talk about TOAL!!!!!!!
Both Todd's DS Dylan & Monica's DS Trevoy were great w/the younger kids. Dylan should be given some sort of reward - he was awesome.
Monica, I just can't see Trevoy mistreating a special ed child - he has Always been so wonderful w/Matt. He msut have gone along w/others - perhaps thinking it was just joking around???
Matt had a sensory overload w/the 3 day weekend = 2x DL - Little League - a B'day Party - & he got sick at school yesterday. Unfortunately I got called just as I left the dentist after having 3 teeth pulled. In fact, I've got to go back to the dentist -the temporary he put in isnt fitting right.
Esteri - :worship: amazing job!!!!! I am still coming over to help you pack & ship.
Going to the dentist -I'll check back in later.

WELL PEOPLE>>>>>>>>>BAD NEWS.....
I called to ask about sending the boxes I had been packing and was told that you can no longer send anything to this service. So shipping to your hotel is the ONLY option.
I'm not sure if they are talking about this service or not: I don't remember who posted the information below. (sorry) When I get back from my meeting (about 1 hr) I can try to confirm.

Monica, I just can't see Trevoy mistreating a special ed child - he has Always been so wonderful w/Matt. He msut have gone along w/others - perhaps thinking it was just joking around???
Esteri - :worship: amazing job!!!!! I am still coming over to help you pack & ship.
Found out Trevoy got dared by one of the others to hit this kid. Still doesn't excuse it though. But I knew he couldn't have been the leader. I just need him to get up enough confidence to stand up to these kids and not follow along.
Esteri, when is the packing party? I'll come up too.

This is what Shirley has posted:
OK - here is the scoop and first I want to say I am truly very sorry to give everyone this news.
I made numberous of phone calls and what has been posted is true. Reasons being that so many boxes, cartons etc were coming in and there was no way to check all items shipped so the coast Guard said NO MORE OF ANYTHING.
If you put water, sodas, liquor etc in carry ons or check ins and if it is found, it will be confiscated - now 2 suitcases and 1 carry on can be carried by each person which includes kids. You can no longer ship diapers, baby food etc. It has to be a carry on or check in.
Wish I would have had better news, but security has tighten down and getting harder, but it is in your best interest and safety that these steps were taken. To tell you how strong they have gotten, Norm and I now have to be double badged - one by the port and the second one by the US Government.

Thanks.I have an Olympus Stylus 770SW and absolutely love it. The first thing the salesperson did when he showed it to us was hold it over his head and drop it to the floor. That sold me, since I can be kind of rough on cameras. And I love taking it to the pool, getting some underwater shots of the kids swimming. I've had it for nearly a year and haven't had any problems with it, though the battery isn't holding a charge so well anymore. (But I've taken well over 10,000 pics since getting it so I need to charge it often anyway.)

Do you think you could post the HoJo pictures again? We can not see them from the first thread. TIA!
Sure - give me a day as I think I was cleaning out my phtobucket and may have deleted them. Sides - got the soccer banquet to go to tonight - check back Wed. I'm a day late - or two or three.
M - Do I hoard? :lmao: Let me know if you need them still.

Mommasita - the Coast Guard and Homeland Security are the strongest hold over the ports more than ever. I spoke to the CG today and they did give me their reasons, I spoke to Dave at IDS and of course DCL and this is what they are doing with all of the ships in port. I know Dave said he was getting so many calls about boxes being sent for the Panama Canal on up to Cal, that he was concern since he had no way to check everything that was being sent to him so they just told it as it was IT STOPS TODAY
. The bad part also is that anything that shouldn't be taken such as sodas, water etc IF FOUND IN LUGGAGE, will be confiscated.
Anyhow again I am sorry and wish it wouldn't have happened, but I had mentioned several times, that IDS were concern and were already thinking about stopping the service.

I believe Shirley is the lady who does custom gift bags.
From what I'm reading. Not only are they stopping us from shipping to the port. But they are stopping us from carrying anything on board. :scared1:
Time for a mutiny pirtes. pirate: Right now I believe the focus is on PC because that's where they've gotten tons of boxes ahead of time. But if the CG is getting strict then it may extend to all cruise ports.

Good Morning!

I noticed for those who are interested, that if you post on the WB thread and ask very, very nicely, you may be able to have someone there get you some stuff from their trip (e.g. pins) in exchange for trade back....
Frankly, I missed the meet they had on Sunday - could not get up in time. They are very early birds! ;) However, let me know if no one respons - although I did see one post last week where someone here asked for an exchange. Haven't been on since I got sick so I will go and check.

*WARNING - CRUISE PLANNING IDEA*
I was going thru the pirates on the website and there are a lot of folks who aren't on the board regularly. Seeing as how most of us want to be at Port early - what about scouting out (oh, Laura....) a meeting place for our group to gather inside the terminal while we're waiting to board once we've done all the check in stuff.
Yup going on one in July but Stace is going in June so that might be better. I'd take a picture if they'd let us but I got in trouble before for that very thing. However, as Roger so eloquently put it - there is a spot if I recall - just have to make sure once someone goes - I think Stace will be there before me.
Good idea to check out the terminal, but not sure Laura will be in there when the WB arrives (they won't be in the entry area). Is she doing a week long one too? Someone on our thread is....
Going July 20th-27th. Stace is going in June.
There's a character warehouse in Fullerton off of 91 fwy and Lemon. If you can get car access I can get you an address.
Yes, I need to get busy on this.
Erin Go Braugh
Only fitting that our Irishman capture the pirate on St. Patricks Day. Did you have a Blarney Stone that keep the rest of us busy?
As I remember, you do a security check downstairs, once cleared you take an escalator upstairs. To the left is a large holding area with benches to sit on. Once check-in begins you go up to the counters, migrating to the right. There are some benches on the right as well. Seems like most every congragated in this area once checked in waiting for your number to be called. I would think that the waiting area to the left would be the best. We will have to ask Stacey to check this out in June.
Yup security is very tight and they are mean down here - not nice - but once you go up the escalator - things lighten up a bit.

1) What's yer favorite grog? Mojitos
2) Do you have a favorite WDW or DL ride? What is it? Any of the Mountains, but mostly Splash Mountain
3) What's a fond memory that 1st pops into your mind from one of the Disney Parks? It's a long one. On our first trip to WDW with the kids, our middle DS had just turned 3 and it was about two weeks before Halloween. His favorite character was Jessie from Toy Story -- he even had the Jessie's hat and costume (no wig -- so he looked more like Woody except for the red hat) that he insisted on taking with him to WDW. We were at MGM and he saw Jessie and would literally not let go. He just hugged and hugged her. He finally let go long enough for a few pictures. About a week later (yes it was a 10 day trip), we were at Downtown Disney for lunch and ate at the Wildhorse Saloon. He decided to put on his Jessie costume which was in the stroller and dance out on the wood floor. After lunch, we strolled up through the West Side and saw a Wildhorse Saloon gift shop and decided to stop inside. As we walked in, ine of the two cast members behind the desk started screaming -- it's Jessie! The other said, no it's Woody but she insisted it was Jessie. After running to the backroom, she came over and asked for his autograph for her day planner which was filled with tons of Jessie stickers. She said that Jessie was her absolute favorite and she wanted her picture with Jessie, but he was too bashful and scared. After she finally got her picture with our son and his Jessie hat, she came over and whispered to us that it was her from last week and that she remembered him and the long hug from the week before. I know she could have probably gotten in trouble for telling us that, but it was neat to have our DS's picture with Jessie in costume and vice versa with him in the costume. This was before digitial cameras and we don't have our scanner hooked up or I'd post it.
4) What did you have for your most recent meal? A cobb salad
5) What was the last thing you BOUGHT? The Cobb salad I had for lunch
6) Do you really know how to DANCE (and I don'tmean jumping around in wild gyrations) Absolutely NOT
7) Did you do any sports, clubs, extra activities in high school (year book, student congress, thespian, etc.) Prior to my parent's moving me for which I thought I'd never forgive them, I was involved in student congress and several different clubs. Was also an eagle scout.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Stace - be warned - some mean old lady was really rude when I snapped my picture IN FRONT of the terminal. She was not in the Disney Spirit! And they do watch everywhere - good luck just don't get in trouble.
Sides - just past check in on the way to boarding - isn't there like a mini-bar area where some seating is? Anyone can collarberate this?
Who was it that needed to be sure to show the pics to their ST? See I do wear my tiara in the parks. Wore it all 3 days. So, ladies, no worries, you won't be the only one in a tiara on grown up princess night. Although the one I have for that is more sparkly. This is my park tiara, then I have my dress up tiara. Yep, true princess here! princess:

Not true Debi. We know you. Just haven't seen you in person yet. At the meet, there was no awkwardness. As soon as we found out who somebody was, we were chatting away as if we were meeting up again, not meeting for the first time.
That's why the chatting on this board is so important. If we left this thread for just planning, we'd all feel like strangers on the ship. Now we are old friends getting together again.

Love your DS's Jessie story! Very cool! I enjoy character stories.
When oldest DS was 6 months, we were at the end of the line of guests let in to see characters in the old 20,000 Leagues line. Mr. Smee and Aladdin stole DS and sat on the rocks playing with him for a long time. Finally, their character wrangler made them give him back.
Later that trip, Snow White made a huge fuss over him and left a big red lipstick print on his bald baby head. We saw her a few hours later on the opposite side of the park. Even though we cleaned off the lipstick mark, she recognized him as she walked past us. She said, "Oh, there's that baby I kissed." And she gave him a new big lipstick kiss on his head.

I even asked her if she was behaving seeing as one of her friends - is sweet but very impulsive. She just looked at me like I had grown 2 heads. Then I caught myself but I still investigated w/o her knowing - she was fine! Just mean old mom being herself!

1) What's yer favorite grog?
2) Do you have a favorite WDW or DL ride? What is it?
3) What's a fond memory that 1st pops into your mind from one of the Disney Parks?
4) What did you have for your most recent meal?
5) What was the last thing you BOUGHT?
6) Do you really know how to DANCE (and I don'tmean jumping around in wild gyrations)
7) Did you do any sports, clubs, extra activities in high school (year book, student congress, thespian, etc.)
1) I'm mostly a beer girl, but do enjoy a glass of wine, and/or a drink of the day ... I guess the short answer to this question would be YES ;)
2) Rockin'RollerCoaster and Pirates of the Carribean, of course pirate:
3) We took the kids to WDW for the first time when my oldest DS was 3 and my youngest was just 8 weeks old. DS (3) was totally enamored with Mary Poppins, so we went to breakfast at 1900 Park Fare to have breakfast with "Poppins" just for him. Snow White was also there that day and she took such a shine to him that she really spent a long time sitting at our table, chatting with him and telling us where to stand in Magic Kingdom so that he would be asked to participate in the Parade. She kissed him right in the middle of his forehead and he would NOT let us wash it off ... even when he went to bed. So, he walked into the restaurant wanting to meet Poppins and walked out in love with Snow White :lovestruc
4) Chicken and Rice Soup and peanut butter crackers
5) A Diet Coke from the vending machine
6) Nope, but that doesn't usually stop me from getting out on the dance floor
7) Volleyball, yearbook and a brief stint as a Cheerleader :cheer2:

Thanks.
We were discussing the 790SW. I have both the 770 and the 790. Difference between the two is 790 only goes doen to about 10 ft. Basically that is it. The dials are a bit different but the 790 is a bit easier to use and view the pictures. I too am Very hard on cameras and the getting dropped from 5 ft is a blessing in disguise. We are looking at getting a camcorder that is the same way. Saw it at Fry's but I refuse to buy any cameras type from there - their customer servicie is bad!
So if you can still find the 790 - I say go for it. It is 7 megapixels but that is enough unless you want to blow up superlarge.
Lets us know if you are interested in that. I can keep an eye out also for you. We've been able to find them for about $150 plus tax.
I have an Olympus Stylus 770SW and absolutely love it.
Yup - that was my selling point too.

Good Morning!
By the way, I will never be able to keep up with this board, but that's okay, it's nice to see such a friendly group - it will make for a fun cruise!

i could sure use some. My ST is not doing good right now at all either. It doesn't help either that the only other person who said they'd take her is in Vegas right now.
i swear before ye pirates...SHE IS NOT GOING ON THIS TRIP!!!!!!!!!!!
Changing the locks on our house is looking like my only option at the moment.
i wish i had the $ for one of those boarding school places but :scared1: who has $4000-5000 per MONTH.....
Like I told Monica .......count to ten and keep sarting over again!!!;) Believe me whne I say they will outgrow the ST age. I have a 38 and 34 year old that made it!!:rolleyes1
There have now been a few separate posters who have said Don Ducky Williams is on our cruise. I discounted one at the start as they have on occasions filled in the blanks, if they do not know. But a few now say yes so hopefully we can see him.
I hope you are right. :thumbsup2 I have to convice Ducky to make a picture of Mickey for our 40th Anniversary!!:woohoo: :woohoo:
Found out Trevoy got dared by one of the others to hit this kid. Still doesn't excuse it though. But I knew he couldn't have been the leader. I just need him to get up enough confidence to stand up to these kids and not follow along.
Esteri, when is the packing party? I'll come up too.
If you read my earlier post....I said it might be peer presure!!!:flower3: He needs to be a leader and not a follower!!!

Great story Christopher. We'd love to see pics. I had the same issue a few months ago with my scanner not being hooked up. Someone suggested that I take a picture of the picture with my digital camera. No scanner needed.
That's what I do....haven't figured out how to use my new scanner yet.
Great idea -- I'll try that. Do you take the picture outside to avoid having the flash glare on the picture?

Great stories! We also enjoy character stories and with all of our trips, have accumulated several good ones. After Jessie, my DW's favorite character -- Goofy -- gave us the biggest laugh. This was a late night at Mickey's Toontown Fair where we practically had the place to ourselves. As it was just us and another family, the characters (Goofy, Donald and Minnie) were in rare form. In particular, Goofy was running around the entire room and playing games with the kids. When we finally tried to get his autograph, he grabbed the pen from my youngest DS and casually tossed it behind him and amazingly, it landed in Minnie's shoe! The kids (young and old) were all laughing so hard!

Hey M......heard anything on this??
Disclaimer, disclaimer, disclaimer...
DH can answer in general terms, since he knows the law. He was in charge of security at a major port, but they didn't have to deal with cruise ships, and he doesn'tknow anything about this specific situation.
The Coast Guard is not telling DCL that people can't send or check boxes or liquids in suitcases. CG's requirement is that DCL knows what they are putting onto their ship, so as long as the boxes/luggage can be opened and inspected like they do regular luggage, the CG doesn't care. The CG has many more things to keep them busy than your case of water.
My opinion?? One or both of the following is happening:
A. The number of shipped-ahead boxes has increased to the point that either DCL or the port has decided that they don't want to or can't deal with them any more.
2. DCL is trying to maximize profits in an uncertain economy by beginning to enforce a rule that they have had all along, just never bothered to enforce & they have a great 'security' excuse to do it.
With me it's the Russell Stover maple cream eggs. Thankfully they're only out once a year!
Oooo love those too!
:ssst: Be Very very quiet! :lmao: SOrry forgot to mention they are also planning a mility conference in Diversions of Caddillac Lounge to exchange stories and toast those who have served. Hey - M - would DH go there for that?
To quote DH:
"I would never miss an opportunity to raise a glass..."
Just so ya know, I am totally picturing the DJ playing the Armed Services Medley they play at functions when you have to stand at attention when your service song is played.
Thong for formal nights only.
...and the swabbie parade during Wenches Tea...

1) What's yer favorite grog?
usually beer, but I'm up for anything?
[2) Do you have a favorite WDW or DL ride? What is it?? DW - tough one... Peter Pan - I just love the thought of flying over London on my way to Neverland or Soarin / DL - Indy
[3) What's a fond memory that 1st pops into your mind from one of the Disney Parks? ?My DS' 1st trip to DW was at 6 mos. He really liked all the characters, but when he saw Mickey, I was holding him and he leaned over to get a better look and took a bite of Mickey's nose. The other was when DS was about 4, we were at a character meal thingy & they were all around greeting & having fun. They had just left our table & Thomas leaned over to me an quietly said "I know they're not real. There's people in those costumes. But I like the fantasy that they are real. Do we have to tell anyone?" I said no... that would be our secret. We still love to play with the characters.?
[4) What did you have for your most recent meal?? snack - mango sorbet thingy - YUM!
[5) What was the last thing you BOUGHT?? prescription for what ails me?
[6) Do you really know how to DANCE (and I don'tmean jumping around in wild gyrations)? not really... The 6 & 7 graders are trying to teach me at the dances I chaprone. They get a lot of laughs.?
[7) Did you do any sports, clubs, extra activities in high school (year book, student congress, thespian, etc.)?

You're a great friend Crash. I can't say I have any insight, but as hard as it is, let your friend talk. Let her yell, scream, make plans for 40 years from know. Let he make plans to not be around past tomorrow. I'm sure she's trying to come to terms with her situation and it is possible that she can't have these types of conversations with her spouse or other relatives.
Enjoy and honor the time you still have together.
Very well put:thumbsup2

Crash, What a wonderful, wonderful friend you are. I know it's painful to hear a friend say these things, but I think it's like the monster in the closet. The monster is less scary when you fling the door open & boldly challenge it's existance. She probably needs to say those words out loud. I also think it must be difficult for your friend to have this conversation with her husband.
