My husband is now saying that I should hold off buying my airline tickets as he may go with DD and I to WDW. If he goes with us he will drive. The cost of the airline tickets for DD and I is enough to pay for his WDW park hopper, gas, and food. Has anyone used their airmiles to get motel rooms for their drive down and back? Do you have to pre-book? Was it a hassle or was it worth it? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Don't.... Hotel rooms in Orlando are a bargain during any non-holiday season..... Airmiles are a rip off (I have collected 10,000) and find very little to buy with them. I'd use them for air fare (checked yesterday and off season to Florida 1,950 miles).

Use for hotels in more expensive cities....

I was only thinking of using them for when we stop for the night on our drive down the I75. We'll probably need 2 nights on the way down and one on the way back.

May work if you know exactly where you plan on stopping. As you drive, usually you go further then expected or stop earlier if tired..... Point is you never know and I remember accomodations also very cheap on the way down.....

I have never used air miles for hotel rooms...we did use them for our trip to Orlando in Feb....5850 miles for three tickets (5 years of saving!!!) & still$486.00 for taxes & fees....next time I think we'll get a TV! LOL!
