View Full Version : Behind the Seeds Disappointment!

I took the Behind the Seeds tour last Wednesday, Feb. 27. It was great. However, I had read that all participants receive a pack of seeds to plant back home. All we received were little generic Disney certificates. I asked the tour guide about the seeds, and she said she had only been there a few weeks, and had never heard of this. Has anybody else had this experience recently? Thanks.

No we received seeds but it wasn't a "packet" but a cotton ball in a baggie (not even a ziploc)... honestly you didn't miss that much as they never made it home!
Sorry, I know it is a disappointment when you hear something or someone get something and it doesn't pan out.
DD and I both love this tour and it is a great way to "get away from the crowds for awhile"

I am thinking of doing this tour in November. How do you think a 7 year old would do?

I think it would depend on your 7 year old's personality. We took our daughter when she was 7 and she loved it. But she is also very much into plants and has her own garden so it was right up her alley.

It depends how many people are on the tour, how fast you walk, and how many questions are asked. I was the only person signed on (!) until a family of 4 (parents & 2 pre-teen kids) walked up. It took us 1 hr 5 min. Guide said it takes from 1 hour to 1.5 hours.

Correct, depends on the kid. However, be aware that it is not just plants . . . there is a section where you get to feed fish that create quite a frenzy, and also see other fish and alligators, etc. Also, the kids get to release a vial of Lady Bugs.

We went Dec 2006 and got no seeds, no ladybug release, but the kids did get to feed the fish. We had 3 kids, ages 7 & 10 and they all enjoyed it.

We've done the tour 3x in the last 8 years, and have never gotten any seeds to take home (although I would have loved some for the giant lemon tree!).

Just had to add...we took the tour in Oct 2006 and no seeds, but we did receive a certificate. I do have to add, though, that I didn't expect to receive seeds, so I wasn't disappointed. We took the tour to satisfy the educational requirement of DD's absence from school. Even without the seeds, we all learned lots on the tour!!!:goodvibes
