We're open too. What about Rainforest Cafe, would that be best with the kids being in tow?

Yes, it is going to be great sitting with friends for the cruise.

As for a meet, we are landing close to 11 p.m. on the 14th and plan on doing DL (and CA if we can use our WDW passes there) on Friday.

IF we get a reasonable rate at one of the DL hotels, we will probably stay there until Sunday morning. If not, we will probably head to San Diego on Saturday and then either stay at the LAX Marriott (the other shuttle location) or at a hotel near the pier.

However, even if we do SD on Saturday, it is not like we can't look into meeting up for dinner somewhere on Saturday night.

As for the Rain Forest, it doesn't make a difference with us. DS will eat anywhere. He does like all the animals though (Chris included :rotfl: ).

Looks like we have a place..Rainforest Cafe. We can decide on a day nearer the time.

That's what I was thinking also, we've seen Hoop-Dee-Doo several times and still enjoy the show........oh, and the food as well..........:goodvibes

Strawberry Shortcake anyone?

Ohana is just 1 credit. You may be rigt about the ages though we took a 4 year old and he LOVED it! All the excitement of the coconut races and the parade around the dining room. He also was in awe of the grills and all the flame action. Me thinks the kid may grow up to me a pyro!

How about this site...it could help.

I even had Hazel cancel my appt. for tomorrow to have my annual x-rays of my kness for the ortho doc. At least I don't see him until 3/25 so I still have time to get the x-rays done.

Good move...I was going to suggest finding alternatives to water parks. We've been down there at Christmas when it was 35 degrees in the morning and only made it up to 50 - 60 degrees.

2 years ago it was nice enough for t-shirt and jeans but very cool in the evening. It wasn't really that warm for swimming.

Hoping for the 70's. :worship: :thumbsup2

Have you done the Titanic exhibition? - thats good:thumbsup2 - good for a rainy or cold morning.

Theres Gatorland too - never been but its a half day park and cheaper to get into than Disney:lmao:

I'm also writing list of restaurnats I've fancied but never got round to such as Cracker Barrel and Sweet Tomatoes

And another "must do" is seeing the snow fall in celebration

4 years ago for New Years we were 80, 80, 80 then right before the marathon it dropped to 50! It was so funny to see the South American cast members in parkas and hats and gloves and the European cast members in shirtsleeves! We were comfortable in sweatshirts. One night at Epcot I had to break down and buy a stocking cap. My poor ears felt like they were going to freeze off!

It is a crap shoot, isn't it? :confused3

They gave us an identity when we went in. At the end you check the list to see if you survived. It was a really nice exhibit. :cool1:

We went to the zoo on Sunday, first time back since she was about 7 months. It was really great because she got to see a lot of the animals that she knows and says the sounds to. The elephants were particularily great because the trainers were in with them as we passed and they were very vocal and she got to hear the elephants make their sound :thumbsup2

What quadran (sp?) of the state are you in Mike? NE, SE, SW, NW?

We live about 23 miles due west of Milwaukee and the Lake. It makes a huge difference. We're on the other side of the state divide (funny that it is located about 12 miles from the lake in the East and about 200 miles from the Mississippi River to the west). Nevertheless, we usually get better weather out here (10-15 degrees warmer in the summer), but in winter it is colder. But the best saving grace is when lake effect snow happens - like this morning.

We are out here with clear skies and the sun is real bright. However, near the lake, they are getting hit with lake effect snow. Up to 4" in a short period of time. The airport in MKE was closed for 2 hours this morning because of it. You wouldn't even know looking out my window what a difference there is 20+ miles away.

Hey Darkside BOBers: what are you all thinking of doing in Puerto Vallarta?

I was looking at the beach or hotel break, but for the cost, it seems like it would be cheaper just getting a room at an all-inclusive for the day.

My hold back is if the ship can't get there. I may book it online once we're on the ship and I know we will get there fine. Last EB Repo they were out running a hurricane and skipped Cabo. Guess the seas were rough too - 25'-30' waves. :scared1: :scared:

O.K. Darkside BOBers (DBOB's),

Whatcha planning for Cabo? I see there are private villas for up to 12. What do you think one of those would run us. Needless to say, the price is NOT on the DCL website.

We've never been to Cabo so we'll probably do some type of city tour and then the beach.

I'm looking for a decent NON-Disney hotel near Disneyland. I don't want the HoJo, so don't mention that one.

There are so many in that area, it is crazy looking at them all. I'm waiting to see if Paradise Pier goes on sale, but want an alternate. We got it once over a weekend in July 2 years ago for $135/night. :woohoo: I'll have to check Expedia in June for that one.

If your church has Saturday night, and you're doing somewhat o.k., I'd look into going then. You may have a little energy by late afternoon. Maybe take a nap mid-afternoon. :thumbsup2

Hope you get better soon Andy.

Yeah, we have a 6:30pm Saturday service, but this bad boy isn't leaving the house today, feels like someone is pounding on my chest with a hammer. Whatever Hazel gave me is knocking me for a loop and a half. I'm getting ready to head back to bed in a few minutes.

I think you girls can relate...

I made a hair appt. The earliest I could get in was Mar. 29. Yesterday the hairdresser called and said she had a cancellation this morning at 9. Never pass on an earlier appt. Right Girls?
Boy did I jump on that. It only a few miles down the road.

So I recruited Mike to go with me. You never know, I might need him to push the car. :thumbsup2

On the way home, I almost kelled Mike. :scared:

We stopped at the Wendy's drive thru for some lunch. The person in front of us got stuck...so I told Mike, "Why don't you jump out and give her a little push?" That was a mistake.. :scared1: She wasn't budging, so 2 employees came out and helped get her out.

When Mike got back in the car, he didn't look very good and was very winded. I forgot that since he's been using his pacemaker more, he has trouble doing that kind of thing.

OMG!! I thought I killed him. He was ok after a few minutes...but he didn't look very good. :guilty:

I did catch a snippit (sp?) while walking past the TV that said something about Cincy and Louisville.

Do you get any lake effect up in your area Robin?

Yes, pretty frequently...

The snow we're getting now isn't Lake effect. It's the storm coming from the SW.

We'll probably get lake effect after this one goes through. :)

We did have a dusting of snow in Waukesha and Muskego this morning, just eneough to make it a little slippery in spots on my way home from work early this morning.

My sister and her family are stuck one more night in Orlando because of the mess at the Milwaukee airport this morning. They were supposed to be on the 6:55pm flight on Midwest but because the afternoon flight from MKE to MCO was cancelled there is no plane for them to come home on. I just got off the phone with my sister again and it has been one huge fiasco. First they were told they couldn't get them on flights until Mon., then they found seats for them on 2 flights tomorrow, then Midwest lost those reservations and now 5 of them are coming home tomorrow morning and the other 4 in the afternoon. I am picking the first group up at the airport, but my sister said that flight is overbooked too so I need to monitor their flight status and hopefully she won't be calling to say they didn't get on that flight :wizard:

This one is for all you BOBers that have stayed near Disneyland.

We stayed at a Homewood Suites in Garden Grove for a night in 2003. It included a breakfast buffet and it was very nice and clean, I think it was pretty new at the time. They had a free shuttle to Disneyland which we used so we wouldn't have to pay for parking and it was very convenient to use. There were a lot of hotels right in that general area and if I remember right there were alot of restaurants close by too.

We haven't driven to Orlando in years but if we go again in summer 2009 I am thinking we might drive then. I just saw on the 11 o'clock news that school will take place as usual on Monday, but the auditorium will be off limits until repairs can be made. It was reported the entire 100' x 250' section of the outer layer of roof and insulation was ripped off by the winds. The cement supports are in good shape, but a great deal of rain water did leak into the auditorium. I picked Angelina up from musical practice a little after 12pm and this happened around 5pm. It was reported that no one was in the school when this happened, which was a very good thing!!!

Jeff - there wasn't much on the excusion list that I fancied, but Rick wants to do the Extreme Amphibian Adventure...I think we end up at a beach somewhere. At least if they don't make shore, we get our $$$ back.

OK...for Cabo, this is my choice. Tallofa Tall Ship. I have to say that there isn't a lot of choice at any of the stops that we are desparate to do, but Disney are cheaper than any of the other shore trip companies.

Good thing I bought a new card reader for my digital camera as my old one ate up all my shower pics!! Un-freakin-believable...I actually watched all the pictures delete themselves, one-by-one!!

Here is the only one I thought was good enough to steal off of Kristin's camera. Stacy's mom should have more pictures which I'll get later.

This is a picture of one of the games we played called: "Here comes the bride". Groups of 6 guests pick a card that has a dress part listed on it. Using tissue paper, they make that part of the dress.

Here are the grand results!!

Karen, we've done the melting pot a couple of times and it's very good. A little pricey but part of the expense is the experience. I'd say you should allow about 2 hours minimum for dinner.

We tried to talk my parents into going and Grimace's response was, "Why should I pay someone else so that I can cook my own food?" :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Typical.

Turned out to be a very expensive trip - someone bashed into my car whilst we were in the craft shop and didn'tt leave their details. I'm now looking at $400 excess on my insurance to get the work done and at least 1 day of work to drop off and collect the car.

Dinner normally takes us about 2 to 3 hours depending on how much we order. We always get a private booth. The booths are really high so you can not see over them and then there is a curtain that the servers shut. The server has to knock on the wall before they can open it. Really makes us focus on each other. And the food is so good. :thumbsup2

Crap Karen, it looks like you didn't do a lot. What did you do?

We got to the movie theater, and I believe I got lunch from Topsiders (I thought that was the sea day after Cozumel - didn't Neil and I eat from there while you and Suz had deserts from Quiet Cove Cafe'? :rolleyes1 ).

Did the spa on the first cruise, will probably do the gym on the next one, but I just walk or run, so I might do that on Deck 4 (saw Walt/Di on that deck a couple of times :thumbsup2 ). Would like to do one of the demos. Sunbed on Deck 10? Sorry, I'll take one on Deck 9. Too bloody hot up on 10 and you're closer to the pool on 9. :thumbsup2 Although they'll be easier to get.

Not into martini's but Suz is. I'll skip that one.

Luckily we have 7 sea days not counting the day we sail through the Canal in August. Guess I should look to experience a few more things on the ship.

We only ate in Lumiere's once for lunch and that was on our first cruise. I really enjoyed it, but Suz doesn't want to waste time inside for lunch when she can eat out in the sun. Anyone want to join me on one of the sea days on BOB for lunch in Lumiere's? Maybe we could do a DIS meet on that Thursday for lunch if we don't have anything else planned for that day. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

Yeah - you and Neil did the "eating bodies" thing from Topsiders while me and Suz stuffed ourselves on choccy eclairs:rolleyes1

We did Lumiers for lunch - it was really lovely - Ellis was in the kids club and wouldnt come out so we chose Lumiers - it was really peaceful and relaxing and great food too:thumbsup2 - we'll join you

Anytime.

We were just talking about CC last night and want to rent jet skis/wave runners next time. We said we could put DS in the club or leave him with you and Neil. Suz said you two would probably come with. So I guess they'll go to the club, unless the People Mover babysitters will be available on CC. :rotfl2:

I think I was eating something else from Topsiders - I like shrimp but there must have been something else seafood that I was taking. I think it was the calamari strips.

When we did Lumiere's, DS was in the club that day as well. It was virtually empty in there. The lunch was soooo good. My plan is to hit it at least twice in August.

Had a couple of those sent up last trip. The problem with early dining, is it fills you up.

Another good thing from room service is the burger. DS didn't eat dinner one of the nights or was just really hungry (might have been the night we went to Palo). Anyhow, we order a burger before bed for him and it was really tasty (yes, I stole a nibble).

Got a BLT from there once as well and it was very good.

Now if I had a verandah, I might do lunch out there some time.

Great pic.

We did Parrot Cay on our first cruise. I liked it.

However, now Suz wants to go up to Topsiders. We usually get a spot near the starboard side of the Mickey Pool, but next time I think DS might be too old for that pool. He'll be 9, almost 10. May have to scope out a place by the goofy pool, but that gets crazy too.

Yes they do. We tried to get it the night we went to Palo for dinner.

They said no because another party was in there. They got done early, so we could have done it.

Chris unfortunately had to sit near that room that night. They were loud (not that we wouldn't have been louder :rolleyes1 ). Probably should have gotten Mr. Concierge to book the room for us.

I'm not sure how many it holds. Maybe 12-16. Anyone know?

Thats one thing I'll do differently next time - I need to take more photos on Castaway cay day. I was disappointed with my shots on that day...

the disposable camera turned out to be absolutely useless - hardly any turned out - the only ones were the parasailing shots, all the sea and beach ones were :sad2:

I didnt get enough of the ship either.

You need to get a waterproof digital camera, Karen.
