We have annual passes and we go to the parks every day. :thumbsup2

Can't get enough of it. When we go this long, we just leisurely walk around the parks and enjoy the ambience. (sp) :cloud9:

That's why I'm thinking of annual passes this time around too especially if I can convince Al we would get the most for our money if we go again in summer 09 and get the annual passes vs getting 10 day hoppers no exp. With our DVC discount the annual pass is quite a bit less than the 10 day hoppers no exp.

Thanks Di. So little time and so much to see. We will have 5 days there and are staying in Cambridge (staying right in Boston is too much $$, we have to save some of it for Mr. Mouse :rotfl2: ). I was reading about the duck ride and thinking we would do that, we have those here in the WI Dells so I thought it would be fun to compare and we definitely want to do one of the tours where we can get on and off at the different stops. I also wanted to get to Salem and was thinking about Plymouth. Is teh cape something we could do as a day trip?

yes. the cape is a day trip. Plymouth is almost like the cape. You will have to go to the Plantation and Rock. Salem is also great. Diane

Not all unpacked yet. Rob had duty on Saturday (7am-7am Sunday) so we weren't able to move around the heavy stuff. Since I'll be here 3 and a half years, I am taking my time to put everything away. I'll even paint some walls, too. The house is bigger than the one I had before and I only have one neighbor as of yet. The other houses are still vacant. Honestly, it's a great house to be in for our last years in military life. It is new and I have NEVER lived in anything other than substandard quarters when it has to do with military housing.

that sounds great. take your time and enjoy life. Diane

That's why we jumped on it so fast. I would really prefer staying at POFQ, but 15 nights gets rather pricey.

Pop Century will suit our needs just fine. Besides, every time we've gone down at Christmas, we've always found discounts on hotels for passholders prior to leaving. If we come across one, we can always change our reservation.

We'll keep you posted, if we do. :thumbsup2

What is POFQ. I cant think right now. If you see any discounts please call me or e-mail me asap. Diane

We're going to drive down also. It's just too expensive to fly for the 5 of us. Of course fueling up the car is not cheap either, but flights have really become outrageous..........

We're staying at Shades of Green (Dec 20), Saratoga Springs (Dec 21-26--but I will try to change SSR to another resort), then back to Shades of Green (Dec 26-30).

Thanks for mentioning these other things Mike! We saw the Osborne lights years ago when they were actually on the backlot. I've heard they're even better now, we can't wait to see them again! We also want to do the Candlelight Processional at EPCOT and see the different "Santas" at all the countries. How about the Animal Kingdom, do they do much for Christmas? I guess we will be in the parks not just in the mornings but at night for some of these things too, more and more I am thinking of getting annual passes. Then it doesn't feel so bad if we just spend part of a day in the parks. Also all the resorts are decorated beautifully so we are planning on doing some resort hopping to check out the decorations.

I like the osund of Epcot with the santas in each country:cool1: . We did the Osbourne lights years ago in the backlot too.

Excellent - we'll throw Ellis on the blue train and you guys can go round and round and babysit:lmao:

Tell me about the jump in car rental prices. I can't believe it is $300 for 5 days right after Xmas. Tampa is about $50-$60 less. Oh, and the $300 doesn't include all the crazy taxes and fees they throw on there.

Guess I won't get $5.89 a day before taxes like I did in Feb.

Did you ge a quote from that company I listed?http://www.usrentacar.co.uk/Default.aspx#

Try them - the gold price includes all taxes you need to pay so no additional charges:thumbsup2 - a lot of UK'ers use them.

Yeah, cuz you always return the favor to us when we wake up.

Hey! - I try you know! - its a bit hard chatting to myself for 4 pages:rolleyes:

On a side note I got our tickets and car for our October trip. Airtran for $204 w/ taxes pp and minivan for $380 w/ taxes. I am NOT liking the additional taxes at MCO. Highway robbery!!

Try going to LV or LA. They kill you there as well. The taxes and fees at the airports are running 25% or more, much more. :sad2:

Gotta love the gov't always taking your money.

Well, good morning peeps!:goodvibes

Feeling pretty lousy this morning - got a head full of bogeys!:scared: :lmao:

I guess I'll just sit on the pc all day and plan our holiday!:cool1:

Does anyone have a preference to a date if we all want to meet up?

How about the 28th or 29th? - I think everyone is there by then and no-one has gone home by then:confused3 - just a thought.

Could the meet be outside of a theme park? otherwise it would be more costly getting another days pass for people.

If anyone has any suggestions?:confused3

One place to consider is Bahama Breeze in LBV. It has a big outside seating area so we can have a drink and a chat and eat if we want to.:confused3

I'm happy to go anywhere:goodvibes

O.K., the accountant is coming out in me.

How bad is it that I'm looking at the prices of this trip to WDW and thinking I could do a beach vacation in Mexico instead without the caos?

We've put a cap of $200/each on our airline tickets. If we do a $100 hotel, before food, car rental and whatever else, we will be at $1,200 for 5 nights. This trip will easily top $1,500-$1700.

4-5 nights in Playa del Carmen or Puerto Vallarta for that kind of $ sounds really good. And the weather will be sunny and hot for sure.

However, I REALLY want to see everyone again, especially you Karen.

I like the idea of outside of the parks. We will have a car and anyone who doesn't can ride with us. :goodvibes

Those of us with cars can always help out picking up those without cars.

How hard is it to go to one of the WDW resorts? They usually let you go in for 2-3 hours (although this group will probably need more :rotfl: ). Just say you're going to meet a guest for lunch. :thumbsup2

We have a Chrysler Sebring Convertable. Plenty of room in the back seat!! Although we are going to the car show this weekend to look at a new SUV since the 4 Runner died.:sad1: We will probably be buying a new car my summer. :headache: I hate having a car payment. We have been without one for a few years now that is at least nice but we need an SUV. I have a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited but it is not enough room for us, the dog, and our fishing and camping stuff. Gee, Woody making more money is going to cost us more money! How does that happen!

What were you doing in the backseat? :rolleyes1

Why not look at one of the cross-overs? I really like the GMC Arcadia. That will be our next one when we get rid of the Bravada.

You know there is an auxiliary parking lot across from the Boardwalk right behind the gas station. Anyone can park there. It is used for people who are not resort guests and want to visit the Boardwalk area. (we cheat sometimes and park there when we go to Epcot or MGM) We could all meet at ESPN!

Unfortunately, I not only provide the credit card, but I also have to do all the planning. If Suz did it, we'd pay double for the trip. She just goes and books it. I shop it around. My motto (and everyone in my office know it) is "it's all about the deal".

Crap, might as well look at a 4-night Wonder sailing. :scratchin

O.K. 4-nights, Cruise only 12/31-1/4:

Cat 9: $3,529
Cat 10: $3,329
Cat 11: $3,269

3-nights, Cruise only 12/28-12/31:

Cat 8: $3,149
Cat 9: $3,049
Cat 10: $2,849
Cat 11: $2,749

Don't think I'd do that either. The Oct '09 cruise in the SPH is only costing me around $2,700. Why would I waste it on only 3 nights? :confused3

I'm dreading seeing this airfare from AirTran when it comes out, but they usually have 6 levels of discounted fares. If I get it on day one, I should be around $200 or less. If not, you won't be seeing me in December.

Sorry, we're starting to get to the point that I could do a longer vacation some other time of the year. :sad2:

Where did you get all the credits from? Did you get the $200 for me booking you onboard? That is too cool.

I know the $50 came from the Castaway Club bookings in December and the $100 from Dreams.

If you're at $1,900, we must be lower than $2,700. I can't see DS costing $800. I thought they were only about $300-$400 plus some taxes. Man that kid is costing me a fortune. :rotfl:

I'll have to check my final price again for that cruise then. We've got to be lower.

Just check DCL for booking it as a normal Joe, and right now a cat 10 for us is coming up at $2,764 without the 10% discount.

It is saying that the child is $654 with the taxes. Stateroom is coming up at $2,597 and taxes at only $167, but that seems low.

But if you take 10% off of almost $2,600, you get $260. So the bottom line would be around $2,504. That sounds more like what we'd spend.

So even more reason not to book a 3 or 4 nighter over Xmas or go to Mexico. Heck, I could almost do 2 cruises for the price of those 4 nights in Mexico.

I could never get myself to excerise in the evening if I was just starting out. I could only do the morning, right when I wake up.

But, after I was working out for a month or two, my body craved it and I was working out morning and evening. I didn't even want to eat dinner. I'd eat and then go right down to the treadmill for an hour and run.

This was back in 2004 after my back surgery. I lost 47 pounds in about 3-4 months. It has all come back now because I didn't maintain. I got thrown off my schedule when my audit was here at work and after 2-3 weeks of not doing it, it is hard to get back into to a routine.

I'm hoping, after taxes, I will be a little more religous with it and hopefully drop another 20-25 pounds before the repo. I'm down about 7.5 from my high and almost down to my pre-KK cruise weight.

Becky--you can check when you are onboard during repo cruise and see what the price is with the 10% discount. You should also get the $200 onboard credit. Crunch those numbers and see how they compare to what you are already paying. I'm not sure if you will be able to get the same cabin however as you would have to create a new ressie and cancel the old ressie.

Jeff booked the BOB cruise for Hazel and I when he was onboard back in October, that's why Hazel and I got the 10% discount and $200 onboard credit. If Hazel and I were to cancel the BOB cruise and switch it to another date, we would loose the discount and onboard credit that Jeff got for us.

Could the meet be outside of a theme park? otherwise it would be more costly getting another days pass for people.

Becky, here is what I would do. And since you're with Dreams it will take a little.

Book a Cat 10 on the repo. Transfer it out to Dreams when you get home. Then have them do the room number switch. After that, have them cancel the original ressie.

I would keep an eye on the pricing just in case we move up before the Repo. However, this past October didn't move at all until the last few months.

Another option, see what Dreams is offering for the BOB now. They may have a discounted price due to their volume. You may be able to at least get a discount similar to the 10%. Book it and have them switch rooms. You won't get the $200 OBC, but you can then try the above and maybe bring it down some more.

I think you have some options here.

Yes, the Arcadia is eye catching. And I really like the silver color.

We drive the cars until the wheels fall off too. We still have the first new car we purchased after we got married. It is a 1996 and has 203,000 miles.

The Bravada was new too in 2000 (8 years old on the 13th of this month actually). 121,000 miles.

We have an '04 Accord with 61,000 miles.

A car is the WORST purchase one can make. It loses so much just in the first year. I don't think I'll buy a new domestic car again. They lose about 40% in two years.

If you drive it though until it dies, it starts making money for you in the years after 7. The best thing to do is to start putting money away in the later years so you can switch over to paying cash for your cars. Loans are the worst thing on a car.

My brother and his family have gone to WDW over Easter week a few times and they are going again this year. He says you just have to get to the parks when they open, which is what we always do anyways, and then leave for some pool and relaxation time in the afternoon and go back at night.

Here is a good deal:

RCCL Grandeur of the Seas
$4,000 Ocean View, $5,200 Balcony

10-Nights, 12/26

12/26 Depart Tampa
12/27 At Sea
12/28 At Sea
12/29 San Juan (12:00-8:00)
12/30 St. Marrten (8:00-5:00)
12/31 St. Kitts (7:00-5:00)
1/1 Antigua (7:00-5:00)
1/2 Tortola (7:00-3:00)
1/3 At Sea
1/4 At Sea
1/5 Tampa

I was surprised to see that one for only that little.

Sad thing is, I'm only paying $5,200 for the 15 nights on the Repo.

I think I'd much rather be sailing through the Canal on DCL.

This ship isn't as pretty either. This is one of RCCL's older ships.

I still can't believe Midwest allowed you to use FF miles. They are so stingy that I would have thought they'd black that time out.

I am not doing any planning until AirTran releases their prices.

My concern with leaving the parks is being allowed back in. Don't they deny non-WDW people if the parks get too full?

This is why I travel off season. Although I do have to say, we under paid for the repo cruise. Honestly. They should have never started that low. It is cheaper than the KK and BOB cruises.

I'm sure Andy will post a link here for you guys to click on for the "live from" thread.

I, and Andy, both were following that cruise back in 2005.

I will have my laptop with me, so I will try to post a little while we're sailing. I'll bring my card reader as well so I can post some pictures. :thumbsup2

When I got our tickets the planes were almost empty, I think there were 5 other seats taken when I chose ours. I think if we had tried getting them for Sat.-Sat. that might have been blacked out, the flights on those days were already about half full when the Sun. return became available.

There is a tier system as to how they don't let people in the parks as it reaches capacity. I have seen it on the DVC boards around Christmas time and I might even have that thread saved. There are times when no one is let in the parks but from what I have read that usually only happens at MK on Christmas Day and New Years Eve. If we go to MK at all on Christmas Day it will be right when they open and then we would hop to a less crowded park

Here is what I had saved as info on how they close the parks when they are getting to capacity:

There are four stages to park closing:

Stage 1 - The parking lot entrance is closed. You can only access the park if you are using Disney Transportation.

Stage 2 - The ticket windows are all closed (and the automated Ticket Vending Machines are turned off). Unless you already have a ticket you cannot get in.

Stage 3 - Only people with Annual Passes or current Resort IDs will be allowed in.

You know that Universal has the Grinch during Christmas. Unless he scares the crud out of Ellis.

Karen here's some more  :wizard: pixiedust: to help get you feeing better quickly!

We fly home the morning of the 28th. We'd love to see everyone before we leave too! Is everyone there on the 27th? Or maybe we could have 2 meets? Outside the parks would work for us.

We'll have to get a list together of when people arrive once everyone (Jeff) has booked;)

we'll be on property.
we may not have a car, but can hitch-hike out.
i'll simply show the scar and some hot chic will surely pick us up.:cool2:

We are stopping to visit them for a few nights in June when we go to NYC and Boston :woohoo: so we were talking about our palns for then. Honestly, I don't know the answer to the Easter Bunny question, that's why I posed it.

You see a lot of Male costumes for it, but you also see some female versions too.

Maybe Pat from SNL is really the Easter Bunny. :rotfl2:

One person's female argument was, spring is the rebirth of the earth and eggs and rabbits symbolize birth, so the Easter Bunny is a female.

I have a question for everyone......(sorry if it is a repeat)

My sister and her family (DH, DD6, DD3) are heading to WDW for the first time (1st trip for each of them) in June. They are going for 6 nights, and are doing the dining plan. She has ADR's at CRT, the character meal with JoJo, et al, at MGM, and supper at Whispering Canyon. So she has two ADR's left and I think she will use one to do Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary. So does anyone have any suggestions for her? Any suggestions would be great--character meal or not, she is open to anything.

Thanks, y'all, and have a great Friday.:goodvibes

With kids that young, I'm guessing they are into Pooh. What about Crystal Palace?

There is also LTT in MK w/ Minne, Chip/Dale and a couple of others.

If she wanted to blow both on one meal, she could do Mickey's Backyard Barbecue.

What about using one for the breakfast at AK? Since the kids are probably too young for Everest, they will be back in the park right next to the Safari. They moved the location of the breakfast now to Tusker House.

With them being that young and probably not able to truly enjoy certain restaurants, you probably would get the best bang for the buck getting them character interaction.

That being said, the parents should really take advantage of the DDP and get some good restaurants. They will have kids menus at almost all of them. Maybe pick one of the nicer ones for the adults that is still only 1 sit-down credit.

What about Living Seas? Is that 1 or 2? The girls may like seeing the fish and I thought it was suppose to be good.

Then there are all the restaurants in Epcot and all the resorts. What types of food do they like?

Our plans for those two days are fairly flexible. Rick and I have to get to Target (just down the road) and we will be getting a one-day hopper on the Saturday to do selected rides in each park.

How about somewhere within Downtown or in one of the Hotels? Or we could go for a meal in one of the nearby restaurants.

Yes, it is going to be great sitting with friends for the cruise.

As for a meet, we are landing close to 11 p.m. on the 14th and plan on doing DL (and CA if we can use our WDW passes there) on Friday.

IF we get a reasonable rate at one of the DL hotels, we will probably stay there until Sunday morning. If not, we will probably head to San Diego on Saturday and then either stay at the LAX Marriott (the other shuttle location) or at a hotel near the pier.

However, even if we do SD on Saturday, it is not like we can't look into meeting up for dinner somewhere on Saturday night.

As for the Rain Forest, it doesn't make a difference with us. DS will eat anywhere. He does like all the animals though (Chris included :rotfl: ).

Although Paige, in payment for our advice, I think you need to post some more pictures of your new crib.

How is the post move going?

Post move is going fine, except real life gets in the way. I would everything that I normally do (mostly taxiing the kids to various events) to just stop for a week.......

I will post pics when my house is in a little better shape. I have nothing on the walls and half of my stuff is still in the garage (the 12,600 pounds that we moved ourselves)...:scared1:

What about Ohana?

How 'bout some fluff????? :woohoo:

We went to the zoo on Sunday, first time back since she was about 7 months. It was really great because she got to see a lot of the animals that she knows and says the sounds to. The elephants were particularily great because the trainers were in with them as we passed and they were very vocal and she got to hear the elephants make their sound :thumbsup2

This reaction was from seeing giraffes for the first time..

This was her watching some fish..

How about 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. It is a character meal and when we were there is June Cinderella and her prince were there, the food is actually very good too.

We are under a flood watch until Saturday night as we are expecting 2"-4" of rain starting this afternoon. Luckily, I only have about 25 more meters to read after lunch to finish the meter book I started this morning. I'm hoping to have all them read before the rain starts........

I really could use a nap though...........:rolleyes1

I was going to suggest that one too, but wasn't sure it the kids we too young to really enjoy.

I believe that will count as 2 sit-down credits.

Stay dry Andy.

Think if that was snow. At an 11-1 ratio, you'd be looking at 2-4 FEET of snow almost.

Ohana is just 1 credit. You may be rigt about the ages though we took a 4 year old and he LOVED it! All the excitement of the coconut races and the parade around the dining room. He also was in awe of the grills and all the flame action. Me thinks the kid may grow up to me a pyro!

I Ohana the breakfast or the dinner?

I thought the dinner show was 2. Man, if it was 1, I should have done that back over Labor Day when we were on the DDP. I will definitely do it next time if that is the case. Although, Suz and I said we would use the sit downs for shows next time and go for the 2 credit meals. It was hard to find time to sit for a meal in a quick weekend. Plus it is a ton of food.

Good move...I was going to suggest finding alternatives to water parks. We've been down there at Christmas when it was 35 degrees in the morning and only made it up to 50 - 60 degrees.

2 years ago it was nice enough for t-shirt and jeans but very cool in the evening. It wasn't really that warm for swimming.

Hoping for the 70's. :worship: :thumbsup2

Both breakfast and dinner at Ohana are a 1 point table service. Are you thinking of the Spirit of Aloha dinner show? That is 2 and is held out at Luau cove. A bit of a waste we think. The food was ok at best. Entertainment was fun but a very short program. Everything felt rushed.

Nevermind. I was thinking of "Spirit of Aloha". :headache:

That is 2 credits, but the Ohana restaurant is only 1 as is the "Ohana's Best Friends Breakfast with Lilo and Stitch".

The breakfast would be a good choice with the kids, but we stayed away from breakfasts (except the one at AK) because it wasn't the biggest bang for the buck. You know me - "it's all about the deal".

4 years ago for New Years we were 80, 80, 80 then right before the marathon it dropped to 50! It was so funny to see the South American cast members in parkas and hats and gloves and the European cast members in shirtsleeves! We were comfortable in sweatshirts. One night at Epcot I had to break down and buy a stocking cap. My poor ears felt like they were going to freeze off!

Sorry I posted before reading.

BTW, can say that the Disney World site sucks? :confused3

I put in "dining plan" in the search area and it comes up "no matches". Come on, you even call it the Disney Dining Plan.

I've never had luck with the that site for searching. It is worse than the DIS for searching.

Then, I go to the restaurant listings and it shows the names and says "dining plan location", so I click on that to see if it brings up the brochure. Nope, it brings up the benefits of staying at a WDW resort.

You would think a company that specialized in entertainment could get a website right.

If anyone wants to look at the list of restaurants, click here: http://adisneyworld.disney.go.com/media/wdw/images2003/languagespecific/eng/nontheme/tickets/08Dining.pdf

I hear ya! We went to the Ohana breakfast last year because my friends son (and me :thumbsup2 ) love Stitch!! We got the earliest ADR they had and practically had the characters to ourselves. Stitch kept coming over to our table trying to dance with me! Hope it was a guy cm!! :lmao:

Who the heck is in charge of the website over there?

I can't believe how pathetic it is.

And they change the look of it every couple of months. Why not work on the inner workings first and then worry how it looks. Definitely not an information tool.

I feel sorry for the people who go there trying to get info and don't know about the DIS.

Maybe the WDW site should have a link directly to the DIS. :thumbsup2

Oh wait, they hate DISers, don't they?

Hi Jen--I'm guessing sunrise, taken from a verandah, on the Magic........am I even close..........:rolleyes1

[B][COLOR="Magenta"]

It looks like a sunrise... I can't imagine you going up on deck that early with your little one, so I would say it was taken from your Varandah on the Magic.

Right before sunrise, Key West morning, from deck 10 (not lucky enough to have a verandah:) )

DH and DS were sleeping in, but I was still suffering from "too excited to sleep" syndrome and was up super early the first morning!

If anyone cares, if we were still allowed to post in one long thread, we'd be about 360 posts away from 15,000. :scared1:

The first one started on 12/4/07. So we are just 3 months into this cruise meet and already at almost 15K. We have over 19 months to go.

Simple math would say we'd multiply by 7 (the 3 months past and 6 sets of 3 months to go). Doing that, we should have about 105K posts total. :scared1:

Seeing that we are limited to only 3750 posts, and have about 1,000 left on thread 3, we should be looking at thread 26 or 27 by the time we sail. :rotfl2:
