My friend is telling me that she straightened her 2 year olds hair with GHD's.

Now i personally wouldnt be using any heat styling tools on my child being the same age.
My DD is biracial and has very tight curls and yes she would look really adorable with straight hair but no way would i ever even try to straighten her hair at this age.

Im just wondering what you guys think? Am i overeacting and is the normal thing to do in this day and age?

no way! My dd now 6 had lots of curls when she was that age and there is no way I would of even thought of doing such a thing. Also children of that age don't sit still, it could be so easy to burn their face or neck with them, those GHD staightners get very hot!

I have done DD 8 as well - her hair is neither curly or straight so she can have it straightened for a school disco or party !

2 is maybe a bit young :)

at two the hair is not fully developed, its very weak and still quite 'fluffy' I think its a daft thing to do, why would you risk your childs hair burning and breaking?

I can understand straightening your childs hair when they are old enough to ask and to understand but to a child as young as 2 imo is just wrong.

As Chilly said its not as if they care aout hair straigtening.
I think some people want there children to be older than what they are so dress them up to look older etc.
My DD wouldnt even notice if she was dressed in a bigbag with a flannel on her head lol
Thats just my opinion.

No way,my daughters are 6 and 3.I don't even do that on my 6 year old let alone my 3 year old. That childs hair will be ruined+brittle,it's not even good for an adults hair(continuous usage)let alone a tot.x.

I think cara was 6 nearly 7 the first time i did it for her and that was for a birthday party, it is a special treat for her now she is 8 1/2, so shes had it maybe 4 times in total, 2 is way too young to risk, can you imagine if she moved suddenly and caught her ears?!

Yet another totally irresponsible parent. Just because the parent thinks it would 'look nice' doesn't mean it should be done, what is going through their mind

This friend of mine isnt what i would call responsible either. I have a list the long as the end of my arm of the things she have done which are deemed irresponsible parenting. :sad2: I know im no golden parent but  some the things shes told me shes done i wouldnt even dream of, let alone think of.

Actually i wouldnt even call her a friend, more like a aquatenace (sp).

GHD's are expensive hair straigtners. They cost the earth, but are good.

I wouldnt straighten a two year old hair. I have straightened my daughters hair 3 times since she was 7. That was because she had a school disco. I can change the heat temp on mine. I make sure my ones are on the lowest settings. She is 8 now.

I do Eve's (9) occasionally but she understands it's special occasions as it'll damage her hair..................:)

2 does sound a little young :confused3
